If you sign up here, pray that you never have to deal with the manager or try to cancel your membership. To be completely fair, the gym itself is nice and clean, and when I initially signed up, the staff was very welcoming. However, the manager at this Lake Forest location is absolutely horrible, unprofessional, and arrogant. I moved away and needed a closer gym, so I followed their policy and sent both an email and a physical letter to cancel my membership. Instead of processing it, they ignored it. When the renewal period came around, they hit my account with both the monthly fee AND the annual membership fee! Trying to fix this was a nightmare. I called their hotline and was left sitting on hold for an entire hour. Frustrated, I finally drove down to the gym in person. The front desk girl was actually very nice. She successfully canceled the membership and explicitly told me that the manager does have the power to issue the refund, but he was currently on a call. It turns out the manager was standing right outside the gym making a personal call. Even though he looked right at me and clearly saw me waiting, he made me stand there for 15 minutes while he finished his casual chat. When he finally walked back inside, he flat-out refused to give me a single dime back--even though I haven't stepped foot in the gym since the day I submitted my cancellation request. He didn't even have a valid reason; he just acted like "this is how it is, and nothing is going to happen to me." He was incredibly rude and dismissive. When I asked him how I could escalate the issue to higher management, he sneered and literally said, "I am the highest management and no one is above me!" The sheer arrogance and lack of customer service from this guy is unbelievable. He had the full authority to do the right thing and fix their billing mistake, but chose to power-trip instead. Planet Fitness corporate needs to look into who they have running this branch. Stay away from this location if you value your money and your sanity. read more

PF is a franchise fitness club located in Lake Forest on El Toro Rd. I came on a late Friday night for short workout. This location is better than other PF in SoCal. They have the machines that I need for my workout. I was warmly greeted by staff. Parking lot was huge enough to find an easy spot. Overall, it's a nice and clean gym. read more

I've gone to a few PFs around California and for the most part, their layouts are well thought out. I think the only thing I would change, and this isn't against PF, but I would move the free weights away from the mirrors. Not sure how it would be configured, but people love to stand right in front of the weights to stare at themselves in the mirror, which is fine, but it blocks people from being able to grab weights. The facility is clean, although I'm not sure what the shower situation is like. Overall, nice gym. read more

Unfortunately we did not read reviews before encoring my college student to join because the price seems great and she desired to be healthy. My husband had had a fine experience at Tustin location near where we previously lives so did not look at reviews like we should have! She too like other reviewers had improper billing. When she applied bank account information and back up credit card info went through we know this because initially she accidentally put wrong zip code and app made her correct it so payment went through. Then she got an email with a late payment they said the bank had rejected the initial payment payment. She paid it trying to be responsible. And updated her same info again t o make sure it was correct. To be clear they have her bank account and credit card info and neither went through? I was not aware until she was in tears the next month to find a second late payment. She had already paid it and was in process of updating yet again . I called because something clearly was wrong. I spoke to a very nice girl at the front desk who verified same last four digit of account and card but said she could not see the whole number so to enter it again just to make sure. When I explained it had also be updated again previous month, she said she'd have the manager call. I had the same horrible experience with this manager. He talks in circles First, aid he could not do anything about billing because they use an outside company and when I asked who I could speak to about that he said he was in charge. Then I ask if he was in charge could he not look into if there is a problem with their billing and he said "we use a system so there is not". I said there clearly is and asked for a refund of late charge which is more than double the monthly fee. he said "I would be in charge of that but I cannot do that in this case because she must not have had her info correct. Late fees are charged because it was not paid. " I asked why no one called when someone just signs up and payment doesn't go through. No answer. I insisted on a refund and he again said he could see from the computer she kept putting different bank account cuz she had updated it again today. I asked him to verify what he had and he had me give him last four digits which were correct and then he said prior one does not match that. I said I verified that with your employee earlier today. Your employee told us to update again but it's the same number and he accused ME of lying. I asked him what the other four number were then and he said he could give them out (it wouls not give me any access to the bank account to have only four numbers.). He just said "I can say I know she switched bank accounts. She clearly does not have funds. I said she had one bank account and she has plenty of funds I am looking at it right now. I also asked bleh back up card not used and he said "it must have been declined." I said does it say why? And he said "it was just declined mam- that usually means they don't have funds." I know the memo would then read insufficient funds and show up in her card. I said there is no record on her card and plenty of limit and he said, l cannot see what her credit card says." This is to course true. I asked it he could show em what he has on her account of course he cannot show me supposedly even though it's her info and I have access to it all in front of me. I then asked for his supervisor. He said he was in charge of running this location. I clarified "so you are the owner?" He said no. I insisted then someone must supervise him. He gave me an email address that goes no where. He said his name is Jacob he would not give his last name. Isn't that telling?! I have reached out to Planet Fitness Customer service and am waiting for a reply. I don't know who owns this place but there is clearly something going on with billing and likely given multiple complaints on here- it involves this man. My daughter of course had no choice but to cancel cuz she cannot afford to keep getting billed over three times agreed upon amount. They charge a $50 fee they said was unpaid annual fee to cancel. She could not cancel without paying this. So for 2 months instead of costing $30 total, my minimum wage working daughter trying to save money for college has paid $180. I don't know who owns this place but this guys should be fired. He is condescending and dishonest. We will never set foot in a planet fitness against this point - perhaps this a corporate and how they function with these supposed low fees. It is despicable. I did reach out to social email given in another review and they said they cannot help me only my daughter so I will help my daughter try to get someone's contact info. BILLING SCAM!!! I am extremely disappointed with Planet Fitness Lake Forest and their billing practices. For months, I've been charged late fees despite having two valid forms of payment on file. The problem is clearly on their end, yet I am the one being penalized. Every month seems to bring another fee, another explanation, and no real resolution. As a customer, I should not have to repeatedly monitor my account and fight incorrect charges when Planet Fitness already has multiple ways to process my payment. Instead of taking responsibility for their billing issues, they continue to pass the consequences onto members through late fees and additional charges. The gym itself is fine, but that doesn't excuse a billing system that creates unnecessary headaches for paying customers. A company should be focused on providing fitness services, not finding ways to nickel-and-dime members because of its own processing problems. If you're considering joining, keep a close eye on your bank statements and membership account. My experience has been that even when you do everything you're supposed to do, you may still end up paying fees for problems you didn't create. Denied footage of medical incident. Feinted during a workout and needed to see if head was injured during fall. Worker said "it's company policy that we can't show you and we need a manager anyways, he's out of town so I can't call him". I find this highly irresponsible practice. Furthermore, the employees didn't blink when I told them about the feinting in their gym. If I was the gym owner, I'd be very concerned about the safety of my patrons. After Sam was able to straighten out the billing after I got my membership started I noticed how helpful and happy all of the front desk people were; which I really appreciated seeing that consistently. They are so willing to accommodate me. I love having the black card and going to the massage chair chairs. I think because of experience them being so kind, professional, and polite today through me for a loop. The music was kind of inappropriate, but it might've stood out to me because the shorter Asian guy who I had never saw a head on me. . I think it's important that we remind these employees not to bring that kind of thing at work, especially at a gym at where both women and men need to feel safe to work out and not have someone checking them out. I wanted to give a HUGE shoutout to Sam for helping me with today's tour of Planet Fitness. I've used Planet Fitness in the past years ago at a different location and I'm currently in a phase of looking for a new gym. I absolutely love how kind, detail-oriented, and welcoming Sam was when I visited for the first time today. Not only was she patient and answered all of my questions, but she fully respected my thoughts and did not FORCE me to purchase a membership at all. I tend to run the opposite way when employees force a membership down your throat or try to sell you hard, but her respect and kindness is what would make me come back. I looked around the facility and everything looked clean and organized. I was blown away that the facility has SO many treadmills - definitely a *shooketh* moment for me. Additionally, I'm leaning towards the Black membership because of the bougie looking massage chairs, haha. Most likely, I will move forward with getting a gym membership here in the next few days, but I do love how you can also get a day pass so you can try out the facility before committing to a membership. I had a Black Card membership, and while the gym itself is decent, it's not really the workout environment I was hoping for. A lot of people just stand around socializing, which was a huge turn-off for me and one of the reasons I decided to cancel. What really disappointed me, though, is how difficult they make it to cancel your membership. Signing up online takes just a few clicks, but canceling? You have to email them and physically go into the club to fill out or drop off a cancellation letter. I find that process inconvenient and honestly unnecessary. It shouldn't be that hard to stop a membership you're paying for. Because of that and the overall vibe of the gym, I've decided I'd rather take my business elsewhere. read more

When I got there, I scanned my code to get in, but the guy asked me to pay $5 because it was not my gym home. I said Man, I have your gym membership, but that would be the only day I hit this branch because I have no time to get back to the Foothill Ranch PF, he said there's no way to let you in. Has a ton of cardio machines but not enough weights. There's always a wait for the benches or strength training equipment. If you solely do cardio this place is great. The way Planet Fitness Eltoro operates is awful. Beware they can change policy on you right in the middle of your membership. This is what happened to me. The issue is you think you are getting one thing then they say nope you can't do that. I talked to upper management today her name is Ruby Islas to voice my concerns and she was rude & threatened to void my membership & call the cops on me for no good reason. She was reactive and had no empathy whatsoever. I was told from the beginning of my membership that I could bring my friend who by the way is handicapped and has a lot of limitations with me to work out and use the black card membership part of it. That is why I signed up so we can both use it and go together. I was able to use it with no problem for over a year and a half and this past year they started restricting him from going with me. I asked today if he could go and the guy said okay but next time you can't so we went in and the guy who I had a problem with last time went and said no don't let that guy in and he would not start the hydro massage for my friend. So I went to talk with the manager and explained that this man has autism and limitations and he is very upset that you said he can and now he can't go on the hydro massage and that is not cool. I had to talk with her for a while before she said okay he can go for the last time she demanded. I said okay. But at first, she was threatening me. She has no management skills. My membership is up in 3 weeks so I won't be renewing my membership, especially at Planet Fitness on Eltoro. Awful customer service and management. read more

As others said, this location is running scams. They blatantly lied to us about the annual fee to get us to sign up. We were told as long as we cancelled before July 1st, we wouldn't be charged the fee. We did, and they said they were still charging us anyway because it had to be done by June 24th, except the contract blatantly said July 1st. The manager, Jessica, admitted that they were implementing a policy not in the contract (after I pulled out our contract and showed that what she was saying wasn't consistent with what I signed) and she basically said "Oh well, we're not refunding you. You can complain to corporate but they'll just refer you back here." DO NOT go to this location! In addition to scamming people out of money, it's filthy and there are regularly menstrual products on the floor of the locker room. When I mentioned this to the front desk a few weeks ago, they acted like I was inconveniencing them by bringing it up. read more

For the most part, I'm pleased with the facility and the benefits of this location. I'm a black card member with PF and I enjoy the serenity here. The only thing that bothers me here are the tanning rooms. I generally get put in Room 1. The facilities have been very clean but this is a new facility. The rooms lately haven't been cleaned. I've brought this up to staff over the past week on my visits and it's still gross. Either someone had sex in there or just pulled one out. Also; someone with a sweaty or oily butt pressed it against the glass to get some light where it usually doesn't shine... I understand patrons should clean up behind themselves but shouldn't the staff at least be performing a daily "deep clean"? These marks/fluids have been there all week... normally I would just do it behind someone, but this is next level. read more

Planet Fitness Lake Forest I was a member of this gym for about 6 months. I noticed a few months in that I was being overcharged ($40.03) each month when my membership rate for the PF Black Card Plus membership is only $24.99. I contacted PF support and they let me know they cannot help because it is a franchised business. I emailed the specific gym and could not cancel online or get refunds because I'd need to sign in person. I went in to the gym today and showed the staff member my recurring $40.03 charges and my membership page in my app showing that I should be paying $24.99. He let me know that this happens because when initially entering my payment information, some typo or error occurred and the system went ahead and charged my backup payment along with a late fee. There was no email to let me know that my backup payment was being used, nor that there was a late fee being assessed. The staff member confirmed that it happens all the time and gym members don't get notified about this issue but need to go to the front desk at the gym when they see that they've been overcharged to get their payment corrected. I kindly asked if there was anything I could do to get a partial refund and he said no. It's a bad customer experience so I wanted to let others know to keep an eye out and go to the front desk right away if the payments are off. Don't bother with PF Corp. read more

This location is so disgusting. I started coming to this branch instead of the Foothill Ranch one as this is closer to me, however, I can no longer stand the uncleanliness of this place. One of the toilets in the women's locker room has been"out of order" for days now, with a giant pile of you know what just sitting in the bowl. You can imagine the smell in the locker room. Furthermore, the stalls RARELY have toilet paper available. Also, what's with the tiny little stools in the changing rooms adjacent from the showers? The only reason I'm not giving this place 5 stars is because they're not 24/7 anymore. All of the PF gyms by my house are open 24/7 in Cerritos, Bellflower and Hawaiin Gardens. Also, they close early on the weekends which is completely backwards. My mom lives over here so this is the gym I prefer to go to. Everything is so nice and clean and new! They have every machine I love and then some. The Laguna Niguel one literally sucks. They don't have any of the machines I use so I drive the extra 10 miles to come to this one. Please change your hours back! It doesn't make sense to not be open the same hours as all the other ones are. This gym would be perfect if they just went back to their old hours. Actually love coming to this location. Staff is friendly, areas are clean. Unfortunately there are so many people not wiping machines down and leaving sweat pools, but that isn't on the staff. They do monitor the areas and clean up. I am very happy with this gym. Always clean. Staff always greet me. Easy to check in with phone. I love the crowd meter that tells me if it is busy or slow in there. They have just the right equipment for my needs. Very nice machines, tons of cardio machines. Stretching area. Yeah, maybe not the most extensive free weights, but then I don't really need more than what they have. So I am good. And you can't beat the price at $10 bucks a month. It's a good facility gym, but the customer service is trash in this place unfortunately. They charged me $105 claimed it was a late fee after paying all my fees as usual and I even made Brandon show me on the computer the history charges and it was all correct, and the manager Alex said he was going to refund it and only gave me back $30. In 4 months they charged me $315 in total which is insane. Honestly terrible management service. read more
