I have no idea where these negative reviews are coming from. Life Time in Laguna Niguel is an outstanding gym and health club overall. The equipment is clean, well maintained, and there is a strong variety without the constant frustration of not having enough of what you need. The classes are excellent, easily as good as you will find anywhere, and the overall culture on the gym floor is a real plus. People are there to work out, not just socialize. The locker rooms are also a standout, consistently clean and clearly maintained throughout the day, and the front desk team is always friendly, professional, and welcoming while still feeling genuine (even though they are coached im sure). What really sets this location apart is how well it works for families. The kids club is far better than basic childcare, with a wide range of activities like sports skills, art, Spanish, and wall climbing. The pool area is also great for the whole family, with attentive lifeguards, fun family spaces, a separate adults-only area to relax, and good food and drinks available during the summer. It feels like a place where both parents and kids can genuinely enjoy spending time. A few things keep it from being perfect. It would be reasonable to include Parents Night Out in the already high monthly family membership rather than charging extra per child, especially since other Life Time locations do. It is also disappointing that the exceptional basketball courts are gone. Pickleball is clearly in demand, but keeping at least part of the space for a half-court basketball setup would have been a better balance. The old basketball league was a great part of the club, and it is hard not to miss it. We used to belong to the ClubSport Rennissance and it had a lot to offer too - but LT works better for us due to the better pool and kids club, nicer equipment, and more premium feel. read more

This is a belated review but I want to thank Life Time and my neighbor for giving me a relaxing and fit time with a free pass. She brought me there, the front desk employee signed me in, and we went about our way. There is an indoor pool but the weather was good so we used the outdoor pool, which impressed me. I thought it was fantastic, both for lounging and swimming. With the weights, there was an extensive array of them, at least compared to other gyms. I didn't use the weights due to time constraints. We went to get a smoothie and I thought it was alright but unmemorable. Who even knows why? The smoothie may have been healthier (less sugar) than ones sold elsewhere. Employees behaved in a professional and courteous manner. As expected, I received a polite call and an email inquiring about whether I'd like to join. I was relieved that there was no pressure sell. The aggregate rating is a 3, but I find the gym attractive, so my rating is a 5. read more

So for this particular Lifetime fitness, the one on Rancho Niguel Road, I would say it's one of the better ones in the area. It's not the newest one but it has like a lot of things. Yes, the membership is expensive compared to like other gyms except Equinox which is probably the same cost but you do get a lot for your money. So the way the membership goes is that you can go to any other lifetime fitness which is the same price or lower. This I believe is the second most expensive which unlocks access to most Lifetime except San Clemente I believe which is more expensive but the San Clemente one is really really nice and it feels like a country club. Okay, so what are the differences between Lifetime and a regular gym? Is it worth the 10X extra a month? So for this location there are a lot more machines that target the same muscle group. Like machines to work on your chest fly, there are at least 8 different machines that work on the same muscle group, so you don't need to worry about not being able to hit your muscle group that day. There are plenty. Cardio machines are more upscale and have different variety of treadmills and the stair masters are more upscale with a screen. On top of the amount of machines and variety, they also have rock climbing, complementary group classes, complementary stretching, hot tub, pools, kick boxing/punching bags, the locker rooms have people maintaining it and have hair dryers, razors, and other one time use items. I think one of the biggest values that this gym offers is child care. They have people here to watch your kids while you go workout. So if you are a busy parent, this might be a huge plus because child care is expensive. So what are the down falls? First off, there is no out door rubber track, I think this is the only thing it's missing and I think if it had it, it would make it the perfect gym. Secondly, the machines aren't the cleanest so I would recommend cleaning your machine before and after. Lastly, the color scheme and design is pretty dated looking. The locker room just feels dated because of the tile color and color scheme there. Parking is easy, it's in a structure and there's plenty of spots. I wouldn't worry too much about parking. There aren't any steep driveways or anything like that to gain access. It's also a really close walk to the gym. Overall, I would recommend lifetime fitness if you can afford it. read more

Life Time Gym is like its own little city. They have a spa, cafe, pool, steam rooms, and of course a large and beautiful gym! I came today as a guest and was completely impressed...but sadly not impressed enough to pay for a membership. They have very busy parking garage, but thankfully I found parking pretty easily. There was a lot of hustle and bustle throughout the entire place. Some people were in the cafe reading or working on their laptops. I was impressed by all the grab and go items in the cafe. Sadly, I was less impressed with their menu items. I ordered the Mediterranean bowl and it was pretty standard. Nothing special. I did not like that the chicken was warm with a cold salad. Also, if they want to be sustainable, they should avoid using so much plastic! But, ultimately it's incredible they even offer a cafe! If I could afford a membership, I would definitely consider it. This place is absolute trash. It's a woefully overpriced version of 24 Hour Fitness, and is just as dirty. Every single handle, whether it's for free weights or machines, is disgustingly dirty. The people tasked with cleaning the place wipe down the metal structures of the machine but don't even squirt cleaner or sanitizer on the handles. It's ludicrous. The pool area isn't much better. Every morning I come in I cool off outside by the pool and see candy wrappers laying around everywhere, food crumbs all over the chaise lounges, and even sauce or some kind of liquid deep in the fabric of the pool furniture. The staff are unprofessional and unfriendly. There's one trainer in particular (the one with dreadlocks) that is especially rude. While in the middle of a set of lat extensions the guy looked me in the eye and then walked directly through my movement area, and then looked back as if to say "What are you gonna do about it." I brought it to the attention of management and they just made excuses for the jerk. Super uncool. This place isn't worth the $290 per person for the basic membership. It's not even CLOSE to being the same caliber as Equinox. read more

Here's a I had a disappointing experience at the Life Time Fitness Laguna Niguel location. I stopped by on a Sunday intending to take a tour and sign up for a membership, but was turned away and told they were short staffed and unable to provide a tour. I explained that I was specifically interested in the pool facilities and simply wanted to check the water temperature and peak at the pool area before making a decision. That request was also denied due to "liability concerns." This was frustrating, especially since I've previously been a guest at other Life Time locations and have already signed their standard liability waiver, so I'm familiar with their policies. For a premium gym that markets a high-end experience, this level of inflexibility and lack of accommodation to a serious prospective member was surprising. I would have expected at least a minimal effort to showcase the facility or offer an alternative option. Unfortunately, this experience made it difficult to justify moving forward with a membership at this location. read more

If I could give this gym a zero I would. I was a member for over a year and at almost $360 a month. I have to say it was a complete waste! The massage chairs rarely work, there is always a wait and out of 3 chairs there is only one that works. They are constantly on the fritz. The Norma tech boots with the zero gravity chairs are great but good luck with that. Also a long wait and most of the time there is only one pair of boots that are small. Not sure why they don't order more pairs. To top it off, some of the staff is extremely rude! Why waste your time and money spending $357 a month for this? They sent an automated email asking why I left and asking for feedback. I sent an email and do you think anyone replied? That would be a hard NO! Why? There was bird poop in the pool, there were about 20 dirty bandaids in the pool, dirty towels in the pool, hair, wristbands, and other trash throughout the pool. There was food all over the ground surrounding the pool. You would think they could clean before they open at 10am. Since I didn't get to see the entire facility, I won't give this place 1 star, but the staff and atmosphere are extremely off-putting. We came in with an appointment and they could not find it. They had us sit down in the lobby and said someone would be with us. This woman at the other desk kept looking over at us off and on for about 10 minutes then came over and said she'd be giving us a tour. Not sure why she was just standing there and looking at us. Once she started the tour I could not hear her. It was like she was talking to a wall and wouldn't turn to look at me. We tried to see the kids area but it was locked and she kept telling me to squeeze to the side and look through an angle. I actually wanted to see the rock climbing gym and other facilities but I was too frustrated to continue. She was just not friendly and I did not feel welcome to join the gym. We recently moved to Orange County from Los Angeles and cannot get over how nice this place is. The childcare is excellent, our two young boys love all the classes and teachers. The indoor and outdoor pools are amazing and our kids have loved the swim lessons. The gym floor is as good or better than any gym I've been to in LA, and I have been to many. I have nothing negative to say, Lifetime has been a huge improvement to our quality of life. I have worked in gyms in the past and they always attract some interesting customers, so take the negative reviews with a grain of salt. read more

Not recommended! This sports complex has become far too arrogant. While they charge premium prices and are always overcrowded, their service and cleanliness are almost at zero. A few days ago, I tried to use the women's jacuzzi at the locker room, but it was so filthy and covered in grime and dirt that I felt sick. I was truly disappointed and disgusted by the overall level of uncleanliness in the showers, restrooms, jacuzzi, and the old, worn-out towels by the pool. When you enter the yoga studio, there's absolutely no ventilation or fresh air. The lingering stench from the previous class is so strong that it's hard to breathe -- which is ironic, considering that breathing is one of the most important parts of yoga practice. It's honestly shameful and disappointing that they rely on their reputation and charge such high fees, while their service and hygiene don't even match the standards of an average gym. read more

Been loyal for years, dropping thousands on personal training and memberships, and you ban me from spa appointments over six missed in over a year. They said I can only do walk-ins now. Never gave me a warning not once while even Target flags you for too many returns. And whenever they've asked me to reschedule to accommodate their schedule last minute I have happily done so. Don't bother emailing, either I've sent 5 emails since I've been a member about personal training and other stuff and never once a reply. I was given a complimentary one-on-one personal training session at Life Time Fitness and was paired with Connor and I honestly couldn't have been happier with the experience. Right away, Connor made me feel comfortable and welcomed, and immediately started answering all of my questions about nutritional supplements and what would actually make sense for my goals...especially as someone with Type 1 diabetes. I really appreciated how thoughtful and knowledgeable he was about that and how seriously he took my concerns instead of giving generic advice. During the workout, he introduced new movements and exercises that challenged me in a great way, but he also took the time to help clean up my form on exercises I already knew, like RDLs, which made a huge difference. He explained everything clearly and made sure I understood not just what to do, but why I was doing it and what muscle group I was working. As a girl who can sometimes feel intimidated by the weight section and all of the machines at the gym, Connor made the entire space feel a lot less overwhelming. He helped me feel confident using equipment I normally would avoid, and never once made me feel uncomfortable or out of place. Connor is incredibly kind, encouraging, and genuinely fun to train with. He keeps the session light and positive, but still pushes you in the best way. Most importantly, he has really helped increase my confidence in the gym, which is something I've struggled with before. I left the session feeling stronger, more capable, and actually excited to keep training. I love coming here very much because the people are super nice. I have been coming to Lifetime for maybe around 10 years. I started in the kids academy where I learned Spanish, karate, dancing, yoga, and sport skills. I miss Ms. Mary, Master Zach, and Coach Taylor so much. Now, I come here to weight train with Albert and lap swim with Ethan and Ryder. I miss my former trainer and swim coach Garrett so much but Albert is very fun to be with. He is always happy and he always helps me to work hard for strong muscles. Also, I love the cafe because it serves delicious food, healthy on the go snacks, delicious smoothies, and the prepackaged snacks are always rotating so you can always find something new. My Mom loves the Lifetime branded powdered greens. I can't wait to be old enough to use the new cold plunge but for now I'll just keep using the Cryo chair on the weight floor as my sore muscle killer. read more

He has helped me to stretch more purposefully, gain core strength, and actually helped my golf power and swing speed. Very effective in teaching preventative injury excercises. Let's start with the positives. This place offers an impressive range of amenities. There's a club lounge, a café featuring meal prep options, a med spa, and areas for physical therapy and chiropractic services. The locker rooms are equipped with a sauna and Jacuzzi, and there's an indoor heated pool as well as a large outdoor pool with waterslides. Additional features include rock climbing walls and, from what I've heard, excellent childcare services. However, the overall energy here is quite lackluster. The music is uninspiring, and the equipment feels outdated and worn. It gives off more of a Planet Fitness or YMCA vibe. Personally, when I look for a gym, I'm drawn to a grittier, high-energy atmosphere where you're motivated to work out and move on. I have a 2.5 and 4.5 years old for context a few things to call out: 1) Daycare program is amazing for kids and allows me and my wife to time dropoffs in the morning and maximize personal time working out or switching off. All the staff is amazing, always welcoming and smiling, especially Riley in kids academy. 2) Amazing facility for all things fitness and self care 3) Staff is amazing everywhere. Lifetime Laguna Niguel is a top-notch facility, and I'm happy to live in an area with such a fine facility. I come at least twice per week, unless I'm traveling. The indoor pool and the room it is in are heated. There are staff constantly cleaning. There are numerous machines, classes, courts, pools, and free weights to exercise any way you'd like, and the equipment is well-maintained. The cafe is handy. I took my wife to be a guest, but instead of a simple form, they had some computer sign-up which just would not work. She was so insulated that she has never returned, and works-out elsewhere. That is not the fault of this particular location, just silly headquarters bureaucracy. I get a large discount on membership via my health insurance, but my wife would have to pay full price, so that is also a factor. The parking garage would be better if they made the huge trucks park on the bottom level and removed spaces so that the dive path corners were wider. read more

Their staff is rude and insist on the same before they will let you tour or visit a personal party at the facility. If you want to have a gathering there, not only do they charge handsomely for it but guests cannot come in without providing all their personal contact information. Clearly marketing and obtaining phone and email is what they want so they can contact you! The pool was filthy and the outdoor furniture was in very poor condition. Food service was lacking, servers couldn't get orders straight, what people ordered what was a challenge and picking up items when they were ready was also an issue... It's my second home now and I can't imagine going anywhere else! I love LT's variety and attention to cleanliness, but what really sets LT apart from the rest is the team of professionals that's been assembled.
