I have been a member of Planet Fitness for many years. I have never had an issue with anyone there. One day I was using the Planet Fitness on Telshore Blvd, because the one on El Paso was being renovated.. This member went out and got a 20 something year old woman to come and ask me if I knew that I was in the ladies locker room. I am very non-binary looking and sometimes am asked that question. I usually just laugh it off. I am not oblivious of how I present, but at the location on El Paso in Las Cruces, we really respect each other. We practice a no judgement attitude. However that woman went out and had an employee come in and confront me publicly. The member then told me that I must have a Di.K on. I have never been assaulted like that in my life. When in the El Paso location, if someone had asked the front desk people to ask me that questions, they would have said, we know and yes it's ok. The situation would be over. I spoke to Julian, the General manger of the El Paso Tx and Las Cruces Planet Fitness Gyms and insisted that the staff receive training on how to handle these situations, along with de-escalation training. I also told him that it was very insulting and threatening. He assured me the training would take place and I could call him about the the training. Well that was back in November/December and he still has not returned my calls. Oh and BTW, remember the 2 employees that worked at El Paso location in Las Cruces? Hours are horribly short. Therefore had to wait overnight to get access to a shower while on the road. The half empty strip mall has a security guard that forced me to move despite other vehicles left parked overnight. I was so dangerous I had to leave the parking lot to move 200 feet and park on the street If you travel, and use planet fitness as your workout, and daily shower. Stay far away from this location. This is the first time I've been kicked out of a planet fitness parking lot with no posted signs about parking restrictions. read more

Interesting equipment layout. 8 Smith machines and 2 linear leg press machines. Nice. Also appreciated the two rather large areas for stretching and floor work. Most of the weight machines and free weights are in a separate area, which made finding machines easy. Lots of space between the machines and benches. Only complaint was in the shower area of the men's locker. No curtain or door for the stall designed for showering while sitting down. read more

We were so pleased to discover El Paseo was better managed, set up, monitored, cooled, superior in every way. We are bummed they are closing for renovation and we will be stuck with Telshor. What I like about Planet Fitness is that it isn't pretentious. And as my Granddaddy used to say, "An ounce of pretension is worth a pound of manure." Okay, my Granddaddy never said that - it's from "Steel Magnolias," but whatever, you get the point. There are real people in this gym, working out. Everything is simple and clean. You can get in, get out and feel good about yourself after wards. Also, it doesn't break the bank to go here - you can join for $1.00 and pay $10.00 a month. I enjoyed this gym for the convenience, space, and budget friendliness as a perk. Although, with the recent remodeling I cannot say enough on how so frustrating they catered to cardio and hamsters on the treadmills. The free weights section is so claustrophobic and tiny you CANNOT bend over without the person over sniffing your rear end. It's PATHETIC... they pushed all the machines and free weights to the front of all the cardio equipment so you could permanently do death stares with opposing patrons. The remodel turned this place into a lame fake spa. DONT let the advertising and front end looks fool you, this place is a JOKE even more so now. read more

I think this is one of the cleanest places in town. The staff doesn't stand around waiting at the desk. They are always cleaning or restocking the paper towels and cleaner. Everything is user friendly but If you have a question there is no problem asking. read more

I am a regular at Planet Fitness. Usually I enjoy my visit , but today 07/30, was probably the first complaint I have. I went in for my normal work out. After being on a machine for 20min, i went to get a paper towel to clean it up. I than realized none of the paper towels dispensers had any paper towels and cleaning solution. I really find it a health hazard. People come in here and sweat their butts off and just leave there germs behind. The staff needs to pick up the slack and make sure they have enough supply. read more

This place reeks of body fumes. I scheduled an appoinment with a personal trainer and when I showed up for the appointment, no one was available. I have tried to cancel my account multiple times but they wont let you do it over the phone and I feel it is very inconvenient. read more

Going to the Gym not my thing but I made an appointment with Joseph to come up with a plan and he put me at ease. I would recommend having Joseph the TRAINER to get you on the right track and keep you there. I did not go to lose weight but I have lost 12 pounds anyway. I was unfamiliar and intimidated with the machines until my trainer gave me instructions on how to use them. I feel a lot better after only 3 weeks. Good Job read more

So I have seen planet fitness around for a while. Just moved to Cruces and thought that I would enjoy getting back in shape. I guess you get a free shirt when you sign up for certain memberships. Counter guy asked me for my size, I told him 2x. He reached in and pulled out a shirt and looked at me and says " I have a 5x will that work". WTH. I even offered to prepay it in full for 1 year in cash. They refused my cash. How unamerican ! They then refused my credit cards ! They want your checking account info. No way. At first everything was okay with this gym, pretty standard experience, but every time it tried to cancel they always tricked me into keeping my membership. I recently graduated and moved up to Seattle, so naturally I called them and asked if they would cancel my membership as I would no longer be in the state... Instead of being helpful they tell me that I need to send in trackable certified mail with a letter explaining why I want to leave the gym. When I spoke with the manager he insulted me repeatedly and refused to offer reasonable customer service. Since they have access to you bank account they do what they want and don't care. They even threatened to have me sent to collections if I took measures to close the relationship through my bank.. This place is a total scam and they nickel and dime their customers to death! This place sucks! I was a planet fitness customer in California and I liked it. This one though is not so great. It's like they never clean the place, as soon as you walk in it smells like years of sweat built up. Not only that but the paper towels seem to always be empty . Also, they are not 24/7. I liked the gym itself- clean and nice equipment, however, the staff needs some serious customer service training. When I signed up, I forgot my debit card at home so I put the $1 fee on a friends card who was with me. The employee said to come back when I had my card and they'd change it on my account. For whatever reason, when I brought my card in the next day it was not switched over and the monthly fees were charged to my friends card for the next 3 months. When I went in to fix the situation, the manager was rude and argumentative. He said the issue was my fault because I "didn't know how to budget". After this, I didn't go back to the gym for a couple of weeks because I didn't want to see him. When I did go back in, he made a comment about me not going to the gym that often. I love the old location, staff is awesome. The new one is awful. Staff do not even greet you in the morning, in fact they don't even make eye contact. Clearly, customer service is a skill not taught to all. They preach no gym intimidation, sadly Telshor location you are failing. I would rather drive the extra miles than go there. The gym is nice and well equipped but every time I go the staff are incredibly rude and incompetent. They almost go out of their way to be unhelpful. I would say this is more true for the AM staff. I go in several times a week and rarely do they even look up they grab keys from my hand. Also they have new tanning equipment which is nice but don't seem to be trainings in scheduling it or maybe they just don't want to help customers. There are a lot of gym choices near this area so although I like the space the best the staff makes me want to go elsewhere where customers are valued. read more

Love it! They have all the equipment you need to get in shape, and the people don't judge you and they make you feel comfortable. The only thing I wish they had is sanitary wipes instead of sanitary spray and paper towels. The Gym is very nice and you always find equipment to work on, not like other gyms where you have to wait around until someone is finished with the equipment you want to work on. The staff is great and pleasant at all times. Christie is the best. The price is great not like the other gyms that charge an arm and a leg for extras. I have the black card so I get the extras for just $23 dollars. Only wish they had not cut the time on e Hydro Bed. Planet Fitness seems like a good value and it would be if you were treated with respect and had access to promised benefits but I have been bullied, called names and denied access to promised benefits. One of the promised benefits is circuit training. There is an area of the gym designated for this purpose and rules regarding its use are posted. But the staff have completely failed to establish a culture where gym rules - or gym members - are respected. i have experienced overt rudeness and refusal to comply with gym rules from other members. On one occasion, i went to another area to complete my workout but pointed out to a staff member that an individual had stayed on a machine through several green light- red light cycles and was keeping other members from using the circuit training area as intended. The staff member talked to the member but as that member left the circuit area he approached me and called me names in front of the Planet Fitness staff. Even though the fellow member was calling me names and clearly attempting to intimidate me, the staff member did nothing and said nothing to him. More recently I was again barred access to the promised benefit of circuit training. However in this case i politely pointed out to a fellow gym member that she was not complying with the posted rules of the circuit training area. She complained about me to two staff members, saying i had been rude, and they came and reproached me, even though she admitted to them that she was not complying with posted rules on the use of the circuit training area. They never even asked me about what occurred but berated me because the fellow member was upset. But Planet Fitness creates a catch 22 for members because one rule is to politely tell another member when they are not complying with gym rules. But when I behaved in accordance with Planet Fitness rules, and the member who was not complying with the rules complained about me, two staff members supported the individual who was not sharing the gym space in compliance with gym rules over me even though i was complying with gym rules. People should realize that if they purchase a membership at this location, they may be denied access to promised benefits and may also experience overtly abusive and intimidating behavior. This Planet Fitness location is completely failing to deliver on its promise of no gymtimidation!!!!!! read more

Great gym but awful management. I cancelled in writing received copy showing I was paid in full with buy out paid as well as annual fee .Than 2 weeks later my account was charged for annual fee again . I was charged a over draft fee . I called local office they informed me the got a new billing system and it was a error in their part and could write me a letter to have my bank refund it . I asked again I will not get charged again they stated no . I transfer money over to over fee and to pay a bill . Well next day my account was charged again this time funds drafted. I called yet again same employees he clAim he spoke to his mAnger they would call corporate and refund me . I asked for. Call back after calling them everyday for one week I finally get a hold of of a rude kid who told me I don't think we owe you money , I stated how do u figure account was paid in full I have copy with his signature . Than he stated for months I didn't paid , I again asked give me month and I will give you bank stAtement showing I have always paid . Than I told him I would go to bank 6 months showing I paid every month . Than he has the balls to tell me looking over the faxed bank statement showing over draft fee I doubt you got charged since u had over a grand in your account . I was all first of all look at date . Second of all I have a house payment to pay ! Asshole and what I bVe in my account is none of your businesses . Than I had to take copy of my bank statement 6 months back showing I had on time and copy showing I had Annual fee and buy out fee . His tone changed .
