The staff here are nice and do a great job keeping the place clean. They definitely deserve 5 stars! The only reasons I am giving a 4 rating are a couple of facility issues. First, there is a flickering light by the front desk that really needs to be fixed. I feel bad for the staff working under it, and I have to avoid looking at it so it doesn't trigger a migraine. Second, the restrooms need to be stocked with paper toilet seat covers. This rating is strictly for the building maintenance, not the people. The staff are great! read more

No rating. I cancelled my membership in August. They only asked me for my name and ID. They asked why. I told them I was busy with sports in college. She said okay you are cancelled and I left. The account for payment that I used was my college account. I did not check the account until I was suppose to receive college funds for school. Planet Fitness proceeded to still with draw funds for the next 6 months. I am due a refund of$137.94. August 29th my grandma went in to close the account. They said I had to. I went either the 30th or 31st. Now they said I had to sign a contract to close account. No where on Planet Fitness cancellation policy is this stated. Go somewhere else. At least they are honest. This used to be my home gym and I was a member for years. Since after the pandemic I never really came back, but I got a charge on my card for annual fee and wanted to cancel immediately. I had noticed that the monthly charges had been charging but I didn't mind bc of low prices. I contacted them to cancel (not trying to get money back but just cancel further invoices) they then tell me I have to contact the location I opened up my membership at which is in Merced when I lived there back in 2018 when I got the membership. I contacted them and they tell me I can't cancel over the phone only in person which is kind of hard to do when it's 5-6 hours away from where I live now. I explain the situation and they tell me I have to mail a written statement about why I want to cancel with my signature. I ask is there anyway I can do an email and they tell me no. LIKE WHAT??!!!! It is 2022 and you guys don't accept email, getting a written statement and mailing it out might not sound like a tedious task but when you work long hours in a city it most definitely is!! When I realized I seriously can't cancel this account I went back and tried to use the location but HP location has seriously gone downhill since I left. There was so much equipment missing and the treadmills seriously sound like lawnmowers. I'm sooooo good off this corporation but I'm still trying to figure out what to do and absolutely no help. Obviously they make it impossible to cancel so they can take your money and keep net members up and disguise it behind wanting yiu to get healthy. In reality they just want the money and could care less whether you show up or not . . And then they immediately copy and paste a reply that clearly shows they didn't read the message in it's entirety and don't care to fix the issue but clear their reputation. For the past year and a half, I pay for 2 black card members. I am a guest on one of my children's accounts. I never had a problem with any of the employees until recently. As a mother in her 40s with arthritis, it was very nice to know that planet fitness offered free massage chairs. My daughter and I enjoyed the chairs for a while. We were never questioned before, so I'm not sure of what changed in the policy. The employees started to act as if they owned the chairs and only blackcard members are allowed to use them now. Honestly, one employee in particular who I now call the "czar" of planet fitness Ms. Brianna. 2 days ago my daughter and I walked in and I couldn't help but notice how she looked at me. Again, my daughter is probably her age and I have never done anything to cause this type of service. I thought to myself, mabey she was having a bad day or something. At the end of our workout, my daughter wanted to use the chair and again i was denied. Keep in mind that I've see homeless people on those massage chairs before. For a mother of 5 who really could use a massage, I find it very petty and honestly a stupid policy. Those chairs are rarely used, what does planet fitness lose? I found out that the czar of the massage chairs complained to her manager and had my account inactivated the following day. All because I kindly requested to sit on a massage chair? Thank you planet fitness, I will not be paying for 2 black card members because of your bad mannered employees. I marched right into to inshape city and joined that same day. Great gym, the only problem I have with this gym is that they open at 7 on the weekends. I wish it was 24 hours or at least opened at five to accommodate those of us who work weekends and want to get in their workout in the morning. read more

I've been coming here for a while now and It makes me really happy that the equipment and machines are very clean. The ladies restroom and shower rooms are always really clean as well! Using the showers are no problem because the staff has maintained it and everytime I use it I don't feel gross. The showers come with both rain shower head and a hand held one. In total there's 4 shower rooms and 4 dressing rooms. The locker room area is spacious and has a TV and a mirror. I also really appreciate that they have a hydration filter because merced water is heavily contaminated with nitrates. The spa for the black card members offers 4 massage chairs, tanning booths and body enhancer. They also have a coin operated massage chairs and a TV in the spa lobby. I'm also really glad that they are open 24/7. Overall, this place is relatively new which makes the overall experience really great. I really hope that this place can be kept well maintained so that coming here will always be a great experience. read more

3 charges in one month!!! Wtf is going on??? Planet fitness JUST REOPENED! Spoke to marisella again! I told her I received the reimbursement of $22.99 but why am I getting charged again! That's 3x this month. She said that it's for the month of April 2021. The gym just reopened in april 2021 You can't charge your members for April! Then She says well it looks like you didn't pay for March of last year. Wtf? I paid every single month! I have proof in my bank statements. She's was like no you didn't pay. So they are billing me this month for last year? You can't do that??? She also said that they can't find my bank account on their file that's why I'm getting late fees yet they are still able to successfully bill me. Otherwise it goes over to collection! Machines broken more often than they should be. 24 hour club but non existent on the weekends so if you workout at night you really only have 4 days a week to come in. We joined this gym when they first opened. One thing I disliked was having to give them my checking account number, routing number, and a credit card number to join. Everything went fine for several months, then I see a $15 charge on my account at the very end of the month. My wife went to the gym and spoke to the manager, Marisella. She told her it was a late fee. However, she went over my wife's account and found that they had charged her $39 when she had upgraded her membership a few months earlier and said she would refund it. Instead of refunding our account, she billed us $39 that day. When I called her, she was extremely argumentative about it, telling me that she knew what she did. I asked if I could bring my checking account statement and show her, would she believe me, she said no. I asked to speak to their regional manager, she refused. I called corporate, and they promised to have the regional manager call me. I called back and spoke to the club manager, who said she would call me back. She called me back and said the regional manager would call me. I'm still waiting. Yesterday, they billed all these accounts, ant closed their club until further notice the same night. Good gym, I like how we are able to go to different locations. I usually always go to Turlock but recently moved to Atwater so I decided to check out Merced with my family, everything was great. Until I went by myself one day, I finished my workout & as usual went to get a massage from the massage chairs. 3 minutes later a man comes in (maybe early 30's) & sits at the available chair next to me. My massage has finished so I began to wipe down my chair, I have my air pods in but I feel someone staring at me & I look & it's the man just smiling starring at me not turning away. I'm confused & immediately feel uncomfortable, I look back at him & he doesn't say anything. So I open my eyes & look at him like "what , why are you starting at me?" And he kept smiling & told me "I missed a spot" . I didn't finishing wiping the chair , I just walked out. I never went back & now I'm canceling my membership to start at another gym closer to me. I had an awful trainer who did not listen to my needs- she looked everything up in her little book. I went back only once and spent 2 years trying to cancel my membership. Today- finally I spoke with a manager Maricel who was able to cancel my membership only after being rudely hung up by Andréa the front desk person. Do not give them your credit card or your bank account they will own you!!! They do not answer their phone they drop calls and they are rude. The trainers do not know what they are doing. All in all I'd say go somewhere else. It's a cheap membership and you get what you pay for. It has the vibe of a college project to run a gym. I'm a big guy, 280, and serious about working out and shedding some lbs so I have a gallon water bottle. I guess that qualifies me as a made up word they have called a "lunk". When I'd go to the work our area I heard a bell or something tO let everyone know a lunk was there which goes against their core phrase of no judgements. There also wasn't enough equipment for everyone so good luck trying to have a work our work our routine. It was super frustrating not being able to have a set routine when you may or may not be able to work out. So when I go to cancel my membership which was completely not worth what I i was paying I get hiT with a $60 fee and since it was after the tenth, Monthly membership fees were paid on the 17th I get hit with another $23 fee. So I tell the chick I thought I it was a no contract membership and she just tells me sorry that's just how it is. It should say something like "no contract, kinda". The customer service was pretty bad too. I had to wait for an employee to finish his break so I could use a massage bed. Then dude got up and didn't wipe it down which was gross so I had to. I got charged for the gym that was opening and closing during COVID with the guarantee that I would receive a credit for the inconvenience.
