Great little gym…read more Everyone has different workout routines and styles, so what you look for in a gym will be different from person to person. Here's the highlights to help you choose. It's a chain, but not a big one like XSport or Lifetime. So, if you want a big chain gym where you can travel and go to any gym this may not be for you. I know they have several locations but mostly in the Chicago Northwest suburbs. It's not very big, but they have a really good selection of machines and equipment. They don't have big locker rooms, hot tubs, pools, or exercise rooms for classes. I don't need any of that, so I'm glad they don't have it. The focus here is on working out. Even though the big gyms are probably double or triple the size of Fitness 19, they always seem so packed and you have to wait for the machine you want. Fitness 19 is good because you don't bump into people or have to wait a long time to get on the machine you want. With that said, I'll say this isn't a muscle head gym either. I used to work out at XSport, and there were always muscle heads that obviously took something to enhance their muscle growth. Good atmosphere. Everyone seems to be in a decent mood. Perhaps since it's a small gym there are a lot of people living around the area that go here. A lot of people seem to know each other and have a good time. Lastly, it's pretty reasonable for price. I believe I got started with a deal that was either $11 or $12 per month, but I paid for my year in full / advance, and got a further discount. You really can't beat the price and quality of this gym.

A new one is necessary. #2. The electronic clock in the pool is broken. #3. The air in the warm pool is inadequately vented, harsh on the throat and all metal items, such as #4. The water fountain, pitted and also, not functioning #5. Not enough hooks on the wall in the pool or the lockerrooms. #6. The lockerrooms were closed for 5 months-and they look just the same. In Buffalo Grove, there are steam rooms in the locker rooms, as well as towel service, shower amenities, and soap. The sauna and hot tub are kept in working order, as well. #7. The Aquatic teaching staff is top notch. #8. Commercial grade circuit training machines should be used in the weight room: I recommend Hammer Strength, Precor, or Life fitness Dedicated Hip Abduction machine Dedicated Hip Adduction Machine Dedicated Seated Leg Curl Dedicated Leg extension Machine At present there are combo machines that are wobbly, often used, so, a wait is required, and the machines are built for a person of small stature (under 5'5"). The pads are inadequate. The seats do not adjust. #9."There are not enough lifeguards," and the pool is often closed to families and children until 4 pm every day. Please pay your lifeguards more. Please train more lifeguards of all ages. Be prepared when School Age lifeguards leave for the school year. The ARC has money in the budget to keep these great facilities in working order, open, and running for their members. Why the delay? This facility has the potential to be so much better.

The classes seem excellent. pickleball game here looks legit. The staff are friendly and helpful. Locker rooms are secure, fully stocked with toiletries and about as clean as you could expect. And, yes bros, older guys with no modesty walking around are here as well. The prices aren't that bad, but I did come from CA where a gym membership to a higher end club usually costs a small mortgage, a 10% ownership stake in your soul and your firstborn child. Here's the two downers for me that keep the club from being 5 star. 1) They have a dedicated work area for members. Super useful because a lot of us are coming during work hours or commute a long way to get here. However, the work area/club lounge legit sounds like a club. The lounge is also right along the hallway so there's a lot of gym bros congratulating each other on hitting the PB or ladies walking by who are totes excited about hearing Fate of Ophelia during HIT class. I get it. I'm a Swifty as well and I'm the first to admit that Taylor slays. But I ain't yelling it down the hall. Midtown has a work area/lounge and they commit to it. If you're going to add a space like this, commit. Do it right. 2) Y'all need to up the cafe game or I'll call John Taffer and Gordon Ramsay. Soggy tortilla on a wrap is sacrilege. Where's the two Italian dudes yelling "not approved" when I need them. I know I'm nitpicking. Maybe I'm unfair. After all, it is a gym. But if you're positioning yourself as not just a fitness club but an experience, commit to it. don't half a$% something. Whole a$% it.

In person they often come across as arrogant and not very welcoming, which is already uncomfortable for members. Today I also tried calling for help with a simple question, and the person on the phone refused to assist me. For a place with membership fees at this level, people expect a much higher standard of service and professionalism. It's frustrating that I can't even cancel my membership right now because it's the beginning of the month and refunds are not offered. Overall, the experience has been very disappointing.

There are a lot of classes to choose from, a basketball court, indoor and outdoor tennis/pickleball courts, areas with gym equipment, a cycling room and more. I especially love the PIlates Amped, 312, Zumba, boxing and Endure classes (mix of treadmill and strength exercises). You don't have to reserve a spot in the class in advance and there is no penalty for walking in late. I highly recommend checking out classes taught by Nikki! Kidtown is where kids can play for up to 2 hours every day while the parents get to do whatever they want at the gym. On top of exercising, this includes the ability to do work in the well-designed library, swim in their indoor and outdoor pools, relax in the hot tub, dry or steam sauna and simply being able to shower in peace. The outdoor pools have an area where the depth is 1.5 feet which is perfect for my toddler. I've never had a problem with the staff; all are friendly and helpful. I come here about 5/week. I hope to see you there!

I was delighted to find a local trainer here in Arlington Heights who was not only willing but eager to help me learn how to make fitness a regular part of my life. I've loved working with Eric for the past year. He focuses on functional fitness and helps me train across different exercises and disciplines. This includes traditional weight training, but also kettlebell, cardio, combined strength exercises, and even yoga. Eric has even helped me get my diet under control, reviewing my eating habits and helping me find healthier alternatives. I am in better shape than ever before, but thanks to Eric I've made fitness a regular part of my life. I went from someone who could be winded by two flights of stairs to running my first-ever half-marathon, something that would have seemed crazy to the old me. Throughout it all, Eric has been a kind and patient guide. I'm grateful to have found him.
