Waaaay bigger, cleaner, nicer, and more kitted-out than the location I came from in VA, and I much prefer it to the Lacey gym. I drive my butt past that location to come here. There is a great selection of equipment that are mostly all in great shape and clean. I haven't taken classes here, but the trainers sound terrific. The men's locker room is as clean and in as good repair as could be expected. My only complaint is that lately the lights are off in the massage bed area. I asked and was told that's on purpose. In that dark little corner (10-12) it is hard for my old-ass eyes to see in the dark with the dark walks and black beds and dark trash cans. Plus I like to read a book sometimes while I'm in there. Not even sure if this meets fire code. I dunno, but if anyone is reading this, please consider providing a safe, comfortable and convenient level of lighting throughout the facility. The comments about the extreme heat in this gym are accurate. The temperature is consistently uncomfortable and makes working out far more difficult than it should be. My larger concern is with a specific white front‑desk employee whose behavior was unprofessional and, based on his own comments, appeared biased. When my wife (Asian) and I (Hispanic) checked in, he was immediately rude and confrontational. He questioned whether we were together even after I confirmed it multiple times, then insisted on procedures that were completely different from what other employees at this same location required just two days earlier. When I asked why the process had suddenly changed, he responded with sarcasm and said he "wasn't there at the time," then added that the African American employee who checked us in previously "wasn't doing his job." Instead of simply explaining the policy, he escalated the situation, threatened to refuse us service, and gave the impression he might involve the police over something trivial. After our workout, we asked when the manager would be available. We were told to come back the next morning at 10 AM. When I did, I was informed the manager doesn't work weekends. At that point, it was hard not to feel misled. The one positive interaction was with an employee named Alex, who listened respectfully and left a note for the manager. Unfortunately, the overall experience was enough for us to cancel our membership and look for a better‑run gym. read more

Planet Fitness has a high throughput model targeting a specific fitness population, and it can be a good option if you fit within their audience. If you fall outside of their model, perhaps because you have special needs due to a disability and chronic illness, their corporate policies do not leave room for accommodation. read more

It is way too hot in this gym. This planet fitness is better than most I've been to but the temperature is way too high for me. I understand it's the winter time but there's no way I should be sweating that much and I'm only doing chest press. Most gyms I've been to have a nice cool temperature to make workouts easier and not overheat and most people would wear a hoodie if they're cold anyways. read more

Equipment is usually in good condition and plenty of workout machines. Black Card services questionable in terms of value. Silver Sneakers pays my basic membership, but after enrolling in Black Card services, I have to pay an annual enrollment fee (something Silver Sneakers already pays), which seems very scammy to me and something like double dipping. I understand the extra monthly fee, but the annual fee makes no sense. I'm not sure it's worth the extra money to have it since so often black card equipment is broken and takes weeks or months to repair. In terms of cleanliness, the facilities are generally clean, but the fact that they installed bacteria spreaders in the restrooms is worrisome, as it is well known that hot air hand dryers spread bacteria, which is especially problematic during flu and covid outbreaks. read more

My "home" Planet Fitness is in Lacey. I came here for a couple days as the Lacey gym is renovated. Here is what I like about this gym: 1) The shoulder press machine has more of an incline and the grips feel better than the one in Lacey. While this probably engages the chest more, I kinda liked the change. I'll probably be back just to use this machine on my "push" days. 2) Bigger dumbbell area. Theres much more space here than the Lacey gym for dumbbell workouts. Granted the Lacey gym is currently being renovated, so this might change. The space is nice, especially when doing exercises that use more range of motion. 3) About 100 "bring your own lock" lockers in the immediate gym area. This will be very useful as the rains and cold weather comes back. I can put my gear in here, instead of the locker room. Also, I can put my protein drink/extra fluids in here for quick access. 4) Three coin/massage chairs (versus two at Lacey). These things are great to use post-workout. I tend to like these just a bit more than the hydromassage equipment. 5) Nice staff. Every time I came here the staff were very engaged and seemed happy. 6) 24/7 hours. I hope both areas keep the 24/7 hours. This is very helpful for early morning and late workouts. The only thing I'd probably improve on is the multi-cable machine area. They seem just a little bit close together, especially given all the space available at this gym. Many people ended up having to position themselves at an angle to avoid bumping into the person behind them. Theres a lot of evidence showing how cable-based exercises are good for building muscle. I kinda wish both areas had more of these available. Maybe have two pairs of them with enough distance for two people to do cable cross-overs. Overall, I'd say Planet Fitness in Olympia/Lacey is the best value for your workout. The cost is minimal compared to other gyms in the area. read more

In California we had Plant Fitness but I'd always been a 24 Hr Fitness customer so I never gave it a try. pF is so much better for so much less. That PF black card is great. It's nice to know that if I'm out and about, I can run in for a little cardio. Plus it's nice to get the hydro massage and massage chairs. When I don't want to go into the gym to work out, that's the carrot that makes me show up. Plus their whole "No judging" ethic is awesome. I like the Olympia location better than the Lacey one because I was in there while they were doing maintenance on a hydrotherapy bed. From talking to the employees at Lacey, they seem to be resolved that 2 out of 4 just aren't going to work. Plus the tv in the Lacey Black Spa section is never on while the Olympia one has two of them that are always working. I like how the Lacey location has combination locks in the locker room for your convenience, but again the employees told us that the locks break all the time, so don't be afraid to ask them to use the key to get your stuff out. Why is maintenance such a problem at Lacey? Olympia doesn't have locks, but I'm cool with bringing my own if it means I don't need someone to help me. Definitely glad I'm a PF member now. read more

I Love this gym. it is clean and the trainer Bryson is the best. He is really keyed into his audience and makes sure everyone gets a good workout no matter what physical level they are at. I am not going to comment on the facility or the staff particularly. What I am concerned about is the fact that 2+ weeks before the recent election, all of the television sets tuned to CNN went black and have not yet come back on. I've talked to the staff about this concern and have been assured that work orders have been in, but it raises my paranoia. CNN was the only balanced news television channel available to those at the gym, while there are many other stations, including Fox, that blare away. To claim that it's a repair issue is suspicious, as you can see about 10% of the screen at the top of the TV and the audio is still available. I would like to see an explanation for the outage and I would like to suggest that PF start including other stations, like MSMBC for a balance of coverage. Ok I was very hesitant to go here because it's so cheap. My initial thoughts were 100% wrong and I'm ok with that. This place is immaculately clean. And as someone who is very type A about cleanliness that's saying something. There's always someone on the floor cleaning machines and restocking things. Sure- it's on the smaller side, but wow, this place gets the job done. It does get fairly busy during the week between 3-6pm but other than that, it's pretty nice. And with that price? I've walked in and quickly received day passes in the Planet Fitness gyms I've approached in Roswell, NM, Everett, WA, and Chico, CA. This gym offers no day passes. I was told that my only option would be to join (for $1.10), and that joining could only be done using their app, which the clerk told me would require "a lot of information." Nope. I joined this Planet Fitness exactly a month ago, it was advertised $10.95 a month, and with this coupon no sign-up fee, great, and I've been going about twice a week, it's not bad, good enough, folks are nice, equipments clean ... BUT, I on top of the monthly fee I just saw on my credit card they charged $53.99, two weeks after I joined, I called asked why, the kid at the desk 'read' the agreement I signed which said they'd do that, oh come on! Planet Fitness failed to cancel my membership over a year ago, and they've sent me to collections. After emailing a person named "Gwen" who handles accounts (about a year ago), letters to corporate cc'd to Olympia branch, and a phone call to the branch (where the desk person said she'd "let them know" of my cancellation), and finally having my bank block payment... they've sent me to collections. Today at the branch, the manager told me that in order to cancel you must visit the location where you originally signed up and complete paperwork with a manager. (So you move out of state? Ya gotta go back to the original branch. And make sure you get there when the manager's "in."). Anyone have a similar experience? read more

I find this company Is very deceiving. When you can't work things out with the club manager and you have to file complaint with the corporate office they turn around and send you to the club manager anyway. So what's the point of filing a complaint if corporate's not even gonna look into it and they're just gonna send you to the club manager when the club is the problem. After reading some of these reviews and finding out some of the other things that has happened at this club in regards to payments and cancellations IM deeply concerned. This is not good customer service and after my interaction with the club and the manager and the fact that I still need assistance to this day I would not recommend this gym to anyone especially this club in Olympia Washington. I'm happy to hear that people have had good results but I Am not one of those people. read more

This is the only fitness club that I know of that does not offer family membership. Each family member has to get their membership. Wake up and smell the sweat! Divise a membership with family in mind. Maybe the marketing group needs to get their heads out of their butts and think! Family is a thing!!! There are some great things about this gym including professional friendly staff, price, equipment is in good shape, great for cardio, and tanning, red light, etc. However, my daughter's car was broken into in the parking lot along with 4 other cars in May 2022. Replacing the windshield cost us over $500 dollars. I did not hear any response from management in terms of compensation (waving the membership maybe) or giving us a few months off. To this day, I don't know if anything is being done. My warning is that I've seen some funky things going on in the parking lot including drug use. The lights in the parking lot have been dim previously. I cannot trust the security of the parking situation. Buyers be aware. read more

My husband and I are traveling and have the black card membership. It makes it easier for us to get our workouts in when we are traveling. When we are in the area we usually go to the Lacey location. However, we saw this location was on Apple Maps, so we thought we would give it a try. We were very impressed. This is the cleanest and best equipped location we have ever been in. It was great seeing the staff actually cleaning the equipment, sweeping the floors and cleaning the change rooms, while we were there and not just hanging out behind the counter. We will definitely be coming back to this location the next time we are back in the area. read more

We were RV-ing from 4/28 to 5/1 from Oceanside to Bremerton and back and wanted to get in a good workout and shower. So being members of PF we stopped in at this PF in Olympia to do just that. I didn't want to carry around my bag while I worked out and was willing to pay for a lock but I didn't have my credit card with me thinking they could just use my membership account. Unfortunately they are only able to do that with the home gym. But Georgina was so helpful and loaned me her lock for the couple of hours I was there. Customer service at its best! The facilities are great... what disappointed me was the customer service. I went in ready to check in with my app but it was taking forever to load. I had been at the front desk for three minutes waiting for it to load. No employees were there to help. Finally a young man with piercings all over his face came up and asked how I was. I told him I was waiting for my app to load. Another three minutes went by and I still wasn't able to check in. I finally asked if there was another way to check in like giving him my phone number. He said no... he was no longer allowed to check people in that way. He then suggested I get on Wi-Fi as that was faster. I asked him what the password was and he pointed to the sign way over on the other side of the desk. I couldn't see it because there were monitors in the way. He wasn't going to tell me the password until I started to walk around the desk to look at the sign. He finally told me what it was. He could have just told me when I asked him what it was. I typed it in and waited another two minutes for my phone to connect. It never did so I told him and he then replied rudely, " oh, ok, what's your phone number?" He had no interest in being helpful. Cooperate... before you come back and tell me I should have reported him... no! I shouldn't have to do that! YOU should include a training module on customer service and being helpful for all of your employees. read more

So frustrating when you are told that even though an employee tells you something they don't stand behind it. I can not use my membership because of a flair up of a back issue. Tried to cancel in June, had Covid so my wife went down. They said I had to be there and that it was already too late (17th) to cancel for the month. My wife asked what day I would need to cancel by and the guy said the 10th. She called from the gym and told me what he said. I asked her to put him on the phone and I asked "by the 10th or before the 10th, he said by the tenth. I go down yesterday to cancel and they tell me it's too late to cancel, it had to be before the 10th. I call today to talk to a manager about it and am told "sorry about that we have a lot of new employees who arn't familiar with policies, we will train them better, but you should have read the contract better". I told them I did read it at the time of joining, but that was more than a year ago, thats why I asked your employee. According to them it's not the employees job to know the policy. read more
