I have a 18-yr-old, severely Autistic son. He loves to swim. So when I was looking for a gym to join with him, Lacey LA Fitness seemed like a good option. But what made me realize we were in the RIGHT place was the response to our needs! ALL the staff have been helpful and kind the entire 3 years we've been members. They helped me come up with appropriate ways to workout successfully and include my son. All their efforts have been documented and shared so that our needs are addressed respectfully AS WELL as the needs of other clients! Recently my son and I were enjoying a typical day in the pool when were were yelled at by another client. She was upset about the way we were using the Handicap restroom. I understood her concerns and tried to calmly discuss them with her. However, she was instantly elevated in her attitude and began screaming at my son and I. I am grateful that in his quiet world, he didn't even notice. In that chaotic moment, his symptoms were a blessing. However, I felt sad and frustrated as I watched my son enjoying himself. A few moments later, another client who I have become friendly with, came out to the pool to let me know that the confrontational woman continued to talk about my family and try to insight others in the locker room to her plight. My friend informed me that this woman was "waiting" for us to come back through the locker room so she could give me a "piece of her mind". My friend made me aware that she had let the front desk know what was going on. 2 minutes later, Gwen and Danny showed up at the pool! They asked how we were and shared their concern. They were kind, calm and transparent while being totally professional and understanding of all points of view represented. They asked if we felt comfortable and offered to help. Because of their care and concern, I was able to have my son walk through the men's restroom with another client with no stress. I was able to allow my son the right to enjoy the pool, with no stress to him and leave the gym feeling safe, protected and respected! There's NO better feeling! Thank you, everyone! read more

Crowded, not enough benches/squat racks/cables and rude/entitled personal training staff around the gym floor. They have a bunch of machines that nobody use that take up floor space while everyone fight over the 2 squat racks, 3 benches and few sets of cables. If you try to use the "personal training" area then the staff kick you out, even if they are not using it. We were told once by a trainer that we could use the area but then other staff are rude and unprofessional and kick you out. The managers will only defend their employees behavior and won't actually do anything about it. You're forced to wait around for the few machines / equipment that are worth anything. They don't use your annual fee for new equipment. Over 2 years of going there the only new equipment we saw were a few new rope handles for the cables. If you actually want to workout, don't go to LA Fitness. If you want to pay for a membership and not go, don't get a membership at LA Fitness, it's an arm and a leg to do so. They also make it very difficult to cancel your membership. read more

It say on the door weekends open at 8am to 8pm .it would be nice if you update your website that says open at 5am . You should be on too of your online and media announcements. Love LA Fitness but this gym on Galaxy Drive is a terrible gym. They have 3 benches and 2 squat racks. Good luck if you go after work at 5pm. If you are in military just go to the gym on base plus it's free. Bathrooms smell like a high school locker room and it's never clean also always wet. Make the drive up to Tacoma LA fitness it's much better there. If we're paying 35$ for a gym membership make it at least worth it. read more

The club charged me for a universal membership for pilates without being able to provide the service and refused to work with me on a reasonable solution until the facilities were operational. Instead, the MANGER chose to blatantly and unequivocally insult me to my face after his attempts at antagonizibg a reaction out of me didn't work. I've been trying to get someone at a higher level of management assist me, but sadly no response. Ultimately, I canceled my pilates membership. I will soon be canceling my club membership as well and going back to a private gym that's not a franchise. read more

Don't bother if you want to use the machines. A lot of the more in-demand machines have people just sitting there, surfing on their phones, during the busiest time of day, no less. Benches are provided, but these people are rude and inconsiderate and the management doesn't do anything about it. Most recently I have seen some of these characters "reserving" machines by leaving their bags on the seats. Why am I paying to go to a gym when I can't work out? And don't tell me that I have to go get into a confrontation with someone. That's the management's job. read more

When you take your concerns to corp, front desk or staff, your met with deflection (always someone else you're supposed to talk to and they aren't here right now), sarcasm and ignorance. They sign you up for training, and make it impossible to cancel. We ha tried canceling every which way to Sunday and they won't let us and have continued taking thousands of dollars. THOUSANDS Of DOLLARS AUTO PAID ON MY CREDIT CARD THAT I NO LONGER AUTHORIZED. We have had back and forth with this gum for months trying to cancel, they even told us at one point we were getting a refund to which we were later told was "denied" .... there is basically no way to cancel, there is a lawsuit against this company for cancellation.... and their membership services is an absolute JOKE. TERRIBLE COMMUNICATION, TAKES FOREVER AND THEY LIE. oh, and btw... their trainers aren't that effective, they only know how to bulk you up, their machines are broken half the time and it's filthy in there. plus, they have the news on every tv channel, just what you want when going to the gym to relax. Management never knows ANYTHING! That is always so frustrating. The facility is frequently out of paper towels and soap dispensers are empty frequently. Even with the bad service I stayed with this overpriced gym since 2015, because I'm loyal. So, I tried to stay with them but upgrade my membership from my local gym to nation-wide. I remember when we were first moving to Washington and I was looking at gyms and I saw some photos of this place and they were just dull and outdated. My husband started going here and I went over the weekend to watch him place basketball and they have renovated the place. I thought it would be good to have some updated photos for those who are looking for a gym. Apparently, during December they took a few days to invest in the property. I love it! I have been going to this gym since 2010. For many years, it was a pretty good place to lift, with plenty of equipment available on the floor. Wait times were negligible for most of that decade (save for January-February ;), and a customer could even do circuits and supersets during off-peak hours. During 2022, that seems to have changed. There are many more people now, as if one of the other gyms in town has shut down and everyone came over to LA Fitness. This problem is exacerbated by a remodel that resulted in approximately 1/4 of the main floor being covered w/astroturf that is used for ropes, a tire, a push cart and one machine. This portion of the gym is limited to a max of 6-7 people being able to use it at any given time. Meanwhile, the number of machines has been reduced in the other areas of the gym to make room for the astroturf. This results in crowds milling around the weight pit even during off-peak hours. Crowded and really annoying for a bodybuilder with an MBA. I have asked about the remodel, and none of the professional management staff can take responsibility for the changes, which tells me they see the downside and/or it really was a corporate decision. Ultimately, the membership levels will adjust to that which can be supported by the facility, but that may take some time. I'll post some pics next time I go, it's pretty easy to see what is going on just from looking. read more

I came here for lap swim and it just isn't worth it. Nothing like getting all the way to the gym, walking through the greyest exercise floor space to the locker, and seeing the notice that the pool is closed due to a chemical imbalance and thinking ew is that why my eyes were so agitated a few days ago. I'm also surprised they can't just put some kind of courtesy notification on the app about the temporary closure. Look, I am trying so hard to do this regular exercise thing, which is why I got the 6 month deal for the one super near me and right now it's closed for 10 days due to a remodel so instead I still pay but to go to the one up in Tacoma - if this is only a slight inconvenience your life and schedule can just accommodate, I envy you. This gym has sapped me of my time, willpower, and $. Lesson learned. 1 extra star for my friend who has been going to this place forever but because of loyalty to bally's and then stockholm syndrome once they merged. read more

Love this gym, and will continue to keep using this gym because it is a GREAT gym. BUT PLEASE, do more about not letting people break the sauna. Every time I am in there, people will pour their sweat of the day and bottles of liquid on the sauna, making it nasty, and overly humid. These same people are the reason why the sauna keeps breaking. I know it's a "first world complaint" but if I am gonna pay $50-ish a month for a membership that includes full-gym, sauna, and pool, and daycare I just feel like those things should be operational more often, and staff should be more active about not letting these people ruin that for the rest of us who are trying to enjoy all the amenities we are entitled to with our membership. read more

I've been going here since not long after this branched opened and have noticed a steady decline in quality, which is sad since this used gym used to be one of the best gyms in the county, only rivaled by the Valley Gym. Now machines get broken and take forever to get fixed, bathrooms and lockers are cleaned less often, more employees just sit around all day on their phones. Then COVID hit and this place went a bit mad. Suddenly machine break downs became permanent as they would neither get repairs or new equipment to replace it. Their hygiene became a joke as even before vaccines became available and the state started relaxing mask regulations the employees had long given up on enforcing any mask requirements and even walked around themselves without masks. They just seem to have given up and quit caring. Even after a rash of break ins the employees ignore homeless people prowling through the parking lot checking windows and rely on gym customers to shoo them away. The employees ignore homeless people camping out in their parking lot, sleeping on the sidewalk right in front of the childrens daycare area window, or panhandling right by their front door. Recently I've even seen homeless people grabbing wood from nearby garbage cans and setting camp fires behind the gym. You'd think with all the break ins they'd try to discourage this sort of stuff or have employees make the occasional walk around the building or through the parking lot, but no, they're busy on their phones and chatting amongst themselves. I'm hoping this is all just temporary and all these problems are because the higher ups are distracted with COVID related issues and once things normalize they'll focus more on quality control and security. read more

If I could give this gym zero stars I would. For the price you pay, everything is either dirty or broken. You want a good workout with available machines? Too easy, come at the butt crack of dawn or when you're scheduled to work. Sauna is always down, bathrooms are disgusting, parking lot likes to rob you...for the prices they charge, you're better off paying a bit more at an equinox cause the prices are damn near close. La fitness in Lacey, The management team sucks, The morale of the employees is awful, They only got two good trainers and the brand new ones are hired off the street and possibility will only be there for maybe two weeks or a month and then they quit. Most of the trainers hired off the street and get below minimum payment. I've been working out there since Covid stopped And in between that time I was seeing at least 60 employees hired and fired and most of them leaving unhappy. I noticed that they've been trying to clean up the place but you can only do so much with two part-time employees. Most of the free weights are very old and Never been replaced. You cannot leave valuable things in your car and you cannot put valuable things in the locker because somebody will find a way to break in both and steal your things and if you talk to management about it they will play stupid and act like they can't do anything about it you read more

It's bigger than it looks, plenty of cardio machines and weight machines. As well as free weights and ropes. It's relatively inexpensive and they don't hold you to a long contract. It doesn't stink! Which is great lol. I love the fact that they have a sauna (my favorite!), a hot tub, and a lap pool. This is really the full service gym you've been looking for! read more

This gym is okay. Reasonable monthly fee. Since the remodel, it has gotten much more crowded. The bathrooms are continuously filthy, obviously not getting cleaned every day. Two times now there has been no toilet paper in the bathrooms. Shows they don't clean/check during the day. Hope it improves soon. read more

Love this LA fitness based on the layout of the gym and how often all of us that workout there clean down the machines. I would love to see an actual smoothie / protein space that is there fully functioning. Sad that I go across the street to Jamba Juice and give them $7 everyday. I am from out of state and visited on a few occasions during recent visits. Yelp* has a deal for a free trial membership, which I took advantage of. The folks here were super friendly and accommodating. They set me up with a quickness, and I was able to work out right away. The locker room is super clean, spacious, and well stocked. All of the cardio machines are upstairs (treadmills, stair climbers, elipticals), and there are a plethora of other machines downstairs, as well as an adequate amount of weights to accommodate a packed house. Other amenities that I noticed were a juice bar, child care center,swimming pool, and racquetball rooms. This is an awesome gym, and I highly recommend giving LA Fitness a try if you are in the area. Take advantage of the Yelp* deal for sure! read more

I don't know if it's the gym as much as it is the people. Did that make sense? Lol. This location, in my opinion, is 100 times better than the Tacoma locations - more machines, updated equipment and so much less douchey. Did I spell that right? I hardly ever use that word. The gym has been clean, from what I can tell. The showers could use a little work but with the amount of people in and out, I think it's alright. The majority of people wipe the equipment down before and after, which is really nice and comforting to see. Some of the cardio machines have fans built in, but the other 80% could use them as well. Heat rises. We all know this. Add something upstairs before I die of a heat stroke. :) I've been here 8 times (recently moved here from Tacoma) and out of the 8 times I have attended, 4 new scratches have appeared on my car. Once again, not the gym, but the people. I would definitely encourage parking away from the crowd; maybe behind or to the side. Once, I've even seen a car parked in front of another car - touching the license plate. Rude. read more

Out of all the gyms in the area, this one sucks marginally less than the others. The pool is nice, the place is reasonably clean, and the televisions aren't that terrible. But they're closed. They're always closed. Any time a working professional MIGHT have to go to the gym, they're closed. They're closed early on Friday, on Saturday, and especially Sunday. They're closed early for every minor holiday. It's impossible to keep any sort of normal schedule here unless you're an unemployed millennial with nothing to do around noon. And if you miss a payment by one day, they will blow up your phone with calls from random phone numbers from around the country. At least four calls per hour in the morning. I was going to fix my payment card to pay them, but now I will be ending my membership out of sheer spite. Completely unprofessional. read more

This is the most poorly managed fitness club I have ever seen. The pool is constantly closed, and the management is rude and not receptive to client concerns. No complaints are tolerated. I go to this gym about three times a week (probably because I love my food so much). The staff is always friendly and the equipment is always clean. It is busy although you can work your way in with people's workout if you just ask! The sauna is to die for- I go after every workout. LA Fitness is really great for how much they offer! Maybe the prices could be lower although I enjoy going to this gym, especially with all of their classes they have. Highly recommend! read more

This place has done a good job on keeping the place/equipments clean. There are certain machines here and there broken but definitely still plentiful left for people to use. The problem I experienced here was with its staff and their dishonesty. I came in to purchase signature membership on the day they waived the initial fee. I chose this plan specifically because it was the only membership that provided guess passes which I intended initially to bring my mom to work out. She used to have a membership as well but due to her unusual work schedule, she didn't consistently go so had to cancel membership. I'm a high school senior so the only reason i would pay $45.99/month was so me and my could both go. After purchasing, I brought her in with me and the front desk told me I didn't have guest privileges even though I had signature membership. They told me because I had my initial fee waived, my guest privileges were taken away but none of this was mentioned while I purchased membership and I specifically asked about this while purchasing and they said I would be able to bring guests. So, immediately, i asked for a refund or some type of way to "have" guest privileges since it was promised to me originally. They basically said I would have to cancel my current membership and "out of their courtesy", they would return my first months of payment but I would have to purchase another membership right away. But honestly, they screwed me over the first time so I didn't feel comfortable signing anything else with them afterwards. read more
