The environment at Bloc Fitness, particularly the group classes, is fantastic. The coaches are incredibly knowledgeable, and I've never been to another gym where form is the top priority. While the monthly fee of $170 may seem steep, it includes unlimited classes and a programmed fitness cycle. All you have to do is show up and work out, and the system tracks your progress, eliminating any guesswork about where to begin. In my opinion, Bloc Fitness is one of the best investments I've made in myself so far.

It's a community . . . a family, if you don't mind me getting a little cheesy about it. The heart and soul of the place is Travis, the owner, but the other coaches are all fantastic, too. Crossfit, in general, might get a bit of a bad or even cultish rep, but that's not how it is here. The workouts ARE hard, but the vibe is 1,000% supportive and encouraging. There are ALL levels of fitness here, from Spartan racer, elite athlete types to the over 50, "what the hell happened to my body?!" types (I fall comfortably into the latter category). Scaling of the workouts is always encouraged to tailor the work you your specific level of fitness and the variety of workouts ensures that it is NEVER, ever, ever boring. Bottom line: If you're looking for a home and a place to start, restart, continue, or supplement your fitness journey, you simply can't go wrong here. You won't find better people or a better environment anywhere.

There seems to always be an area in front of a mirror to life and space to stretch on mats. It reminds me of the old westroads club. The kids daycare is great, the attendants are super sweet and caring for the kids. I don't love the locker room, but it does have ample lockers and rear end access to steam room sauna and pool. At the moment the splash pad is down so I don't have a reference on the pool but hope its a nice get away for us when the winter blues come around. Overall for the price it's a great deal to get the kids out and a work out in.

Regarding behavior and supervision, these concerns are not based on isolated incidents, nor are…read morethey issues that we have simply observed without reporting. We have reported problems to YMCA staff when they occurred. On several occasions, we spoke with front desk employees and were referred to staff members working in the particular area involved. We have also stopped and spoken directly with Zach, the facility director, about our concerns. Unfortunately, despite reporting these issues, we have continued to see many of the same problems. Some examples have included children holding other children underwater for concerning lengths of time in the pool, children running through and creating problems in the locker rooms, fighting and frequent profanity on the basketball courts, individuals standing on top of equipment in the weight area, and groups of kids congregating around the walking area and making inappropriate comments to patrons about their weight or physical abilities. Some of these behaviors are simply disruptive, but others have caused us legitimate safety concerns. For that reason, being asked to report these incidents when they happen is somewhat frustrating, because that is exactly what we have been doing. At some point, we would hope that repeated reports would result in greater staff presence, supervision, and consistent enforcement of facility rules rather than requiring individual members to continually identify the same types of problems. We also wanted to clarify our concern regarding classes. We understand from your response that additional classes have recently been added. However, from what we can see, only two additional evening classes were added. While increased daytime programming may benefit some members, it does not substantially address the concern of a working family that primarily needs programming during evening hours. When we originally joined Westview, our experience was quite different. There seemed to be more class opportunities, and the swimming area in particular felt much more controlled and supervised. The frequent unavailability of facilities has also played a part in our frustration. There have been many occasions when areas we would like to use, particularly the pool or gym, have been closed or unavailable. When combined with limited evening programming, it can make it difficult for our family to consistently use the membership in the way we originally anticipated. We have increasingly found ourselves going to other YMCA locations when possible, including Gretna, Armbrust, and Southwest. What is especially noticeable to us is that we do not routinely encounter these same behavioral and supervision issues at those facilities. We certainly understand that children will be children and that no public facility can prevent every incident. Our concern is the frequency of the behavior at Westview and what appears to be a difference in supervision and enforcement compared with other YMCA locations. We genuinely want Westview to be successful. It is the location we should be able to use most conveniently, and our survey feedback was intended to explain why our family's experience has declined rather than simply to criticize the facility. The instructors are absolutely incredible people and they're some of the most enthusiastic and encouraging individuals I've ever met! Each class not only feels like a fitness & cardio session but also a team effort where we all motivate eachother to stay on track, and hit (and kick!) the combos and routines that are set by our instructors. Being part of CKO has truly felt like one big family! :) In the 10 months that I've been a member (this is the first time I've ever joined a kickboxing gym too!) I've witnessed a huge and positive physiological change in my mind and body, as well as my mood and motivation too! I am so glad I joined CKO last year. The instructors are all very positive and encouraging and that helped me early on when I was very out of shape and was scared of being judged in the gym. CKO is a welcoming environment, regardless on whether you are already shredded or just beginning your athletic journey. If you are worried of being judged, I will squash that fear. DONT BE! The instructors and other boxers are all incredibly friendly and encouraging. I have not met an unfriendly person here. The classes themselves are a hour long and include primarily kickboxing, as well as ab workouts and other exercises depending on the day. On Wednesdays and Fridays, half of the class is spent doing strength training with weights and the TRX. All of these extra exercises are to improve your kickboxing. Whatever the activity, they are clear with instructions and if you are unsure of what you should be doing, the instructors are always happy to help. If you need to take a break, you arent judged and can jump back in when you are ready. I really like that CKO encrouages me not only to maintain, but improve. Natalia, Lornell, and the other instructors all push you to your limits and encourage you not to give up and to keep it going. I dont know how many times I have felt like giving up, and Dustin's speech gets me back on track. Seriously man, your speeches are awesome! CKO makes it really easy for me to get in shape. I was never an athletic person, but CKO has given me a love for kickboxing and makes me look forward to going to the gym. I would recommend anyone give them a try! You wont be disappointed.

I am a chiropractor in the area and Bill and I have great conversations about an array of different topics after our sessions in regards to the human body and nutrition. His overall knowledge and understanding about the body, and also about nutrition is unmatched. The class is always changing, always adapting to new things. The approach he has towards your fitness is much different than others, and I love it. He cares more about mobility and techniques in your exercises and that is how it should be. As this lowers the risk of injury and also ensures that you are doing things correctly, which will lead to more strength and mobility. There is no "standard" set, it is based on you and how you personally perform and how you can build from that; in a sense you against yourself. It is open 6 days a week, with Thursday's being a mobility day, typically yoga or Pilates, and other forms of active recovery, which is crucial and something that not everyone even thinks about adding to their workout plans, but definitely should. Mobility is something that we as a society have lost due to sitting 8 hours a day. While I personally have seen improvements in all my workouts since starting there, my overall mobility is what I have seen the most improvement. I have yet to have any personal training there, as I only do the classes, however as far as I can tell, those that do personal training have nothing but high praises as well.
