The Palmdale, California Planet Fitness staff is awesome. They are friendly and helpful. Specifically, Lixel, Caleb, James, and DaTrion are the nicest people ever. Now the negatives and reasons I quit (which had nothing to do with the staff): Homeless people, living in their cars, are living in the parking lot. Very sketchy.... The new equipment is too heavy with a higher starting weight, and feels very cumbersome...not ergonomic. Corporate gives high schoolers and their families free membership all summer long, making the gym incredibly crowded. High school seniors get in free, while seniors don't even get a discount. One of the members accosted me in the parking lot saying I stole her parking space. The schedule on the app does not reflect the new trainers name or his schedule. I understand from other reviews Planet Fitness allows men in the women's locker rooms. I have not personally experienced this, but I do not want this experience at a gym. The first time I was with Planet Fitness, they closed due to COVID. The second time I was with Planet Fitness, the manager in Lancaster refused to enforce the rules and told me to go ahead and quit....she didn't care. I can tell you that this company, particularly this location DOES NOT CARE about you are value you as a customer. I contacted the district manager regarding an issue of an aggressive male customer and NO response. NO response from a review on google. The incident I had the manager on duty Caleb, demonstrated that he felt one member not being "courteous" enough by me grabbing a weight off a machine was enough to warrant aggressiveness from a male gym member. All the staff members were male and I definitely felt there was some bias towards me that felt like my concern was not handled appropriately and impartially. I guess I'll have to try and contact corporate. These gyms are franchises and the MCDONALDS of the fitness industry! This gym is a poorly managed dumpster fire. Avoid at all cost. I'll explain. Let's start with the gym music pumped at a night club level. Everyone wears headphones these days, so why is this gym pushing their music hard on the customers? Secondly, they installed 5 new TV's on the front wall. Why is this bad? Because they were installed over 3 months ago and ZERO work! This would have taken like up to a week to do properly, and 3 months plus later nothing. Poorly managed. All their Smith Machines are broken, and have been for a long time. What I mean by broken is that they all STICK. Go grab one of the bars and move it up and down the track, sticks everywhere. Poorly managed. Hers a small one for you.... The time change was weeks ago, and one of their clocks is still off by an hour. Why is one of the clocks changed and the other isn't? This is literally something that takes 30 seconds to complete. Poorly managed. If you're bar for a gym Is set low, then this place is for you. Expect a poorly managed gym. read more

Great PF gym. Located in a strip mall, this gym has ample parking in the huge lot out front. The gym is modern with a good layout and relaxed and fun vibe. All of the equipment was in good working condition and branded with the PF logo and colors. Most PF locations I've visited have been very clean. This PF is no different. It was actually cleaner than most. Patrons cleaned up after themselves and staff seemed to be constantly on the move in the locker rooms and on the gym floor. The gym is set up like most PF gyms with the Black Card area, cardio, 30-min workout area, abs & stretching, 360 area, and free weights. The cardio area was the largest (as w all other PFs I've visited). There were numerous types of cardio machines in quantity. The free weight area was decently sized. Larger than other PF gyms but smaller than gyms like 24, LAF, Golds, etc. I liked how all of the equipment was well spaced so no one is crowding you. There was no lack of televisions. There was no bench press apparatus. PF is more of a main stream gym than a heavy lifter gym. The female locker room was modern and immaculate. I noticed scheduled inspections which ensured its tidiness. Additional notable mentions were the curtained showers, dressing stalls, and sink trough with cool fixtures. The air driers beside the faucet was great. No more wet floors and counter tops from wet hands! Staff was attentive and friendly. Rounding up from a 4.7, I gave this gym a 5 for my visit. read more

I came in to speak about being charged by them and my bank because the way it is being pulled out. The woman I spoke with was decent, heard me- but I don't think really understood. I asked for a manager because here in Palmdale it's best to get to whom is in charge, and not reading me a script. However Grisgris the general manager was rude. He allowed me to speak some. Then proceed to talk over me. I had to tell him twice to let me finish. All he kept saying is there is no extra charges on his side. Which I told him from the gate the extra charges are from my bank because they way they are using my checking account instead of using my card which is linked. They are running it as if I am giving them a check everytime. As he is acting impatient and interrupting me, he wasn't even looking at me but was looking at my sister. And she was just there. She is not a member nor the one speaking. I usually don't have a problem when in there or working out. But when you have to talk to staff - it's a disaster. Like everyone needs customer service training. So with that said two stars for customer service. Cleanliness is 4 stars. Music never bothered me. Sorry forgot to add, when I said I'll call corporate, he gave me smart response, "go ahead they will just refer you back to the store, we are franchise". So I asked who is the owner or other manager. I'm a member and lady just came in with three children wanting to use the restroom. They refuse because they are not a member. I don't agree with that they may not be a member but you just me and blossom as a customer and the child is subsidies to use the restroom what are they going to do while they're there should've had one used it because sometimes kids need to go badly and I cannot hold it to get to Walmart. I was happy until I had to cancel my membership due to COVID-related hardship. They refused to refund my annual fee even though they refunded my wife's for her account. I would have considered coming back once my financial situation improved, but now I think that isn't very likely. I mean seriously, they were closed so long this yeast because of COVID-19 I couldn't get in sooner to cancel and now they want to keep my money. Geez, how cheap! Plus, there's no getting through on the phone to corporate and their website says to go to a non-existent page on the website for help. Losing points fast here. I never had issues when I came to this gym to work out. It's well maintained and clean. Unfortunately I can't say the same about the staff. I inquired about canceling my account and they suggested I do so after my one year anniversary. So I asked when that was going to be. The employees looked up my account and failed to tell me my one year anniversary was up. Instead they said I had one more month to go. So I waited that month and BAM they hit me with the annual fees. I reached out to them in person and asked why they were dishonest about telling that my one year anniversary was up. They said they couldn't do anything about the fees, handed me a business card with their managers information and told me to email her. I emailed the manager with an explanation to everything and no word from her as of yet... it's been two weeks! 3 weeks later after cancellation and I am hit with another set of monthly charges. I figured that would be the case assuming it was the last time they would bill me. I was wrong... 5 days later they hit me with another charge with the same totals as my monthly charges. So for the month of November I got charged my annual fees and two sets of monthly fees. That's $39, $21.99, and $21.99. That's over $80 in charges over an employee error. It's so ridiculous and I can't even get them to email me back. Please be aware of this company and the scams they pull. I would honestly not recommend this gym to anyone. When you're creating goals to lose weight and getting in shape, joining Planet Fitness is an investment one can make. Starting at $10 a month with no commitment, this gym gives you access to a variety of exercises with machines, and cardio equipment. Although this is not my primary gym, Planet Fitness has several other machines that my gym doesn't carry. This is a new gym, so if you like an uncrowded atmosphere, new equipment, and clean environment, this gym is for you. Do expect, as a courtesy to other members, to wipe down each equipment after you use it. I've only trained here a for a few days and have consistently seen each member wipe down their equipment after each use. This is the total opposite of my primary gym. Planet Fitness operates 24 hours a day which is huge for me because my training schedule varies throughout the week. There is little to no learning curve when operating the exercise machines as most have instructions and pictures on them. If you're motivated by working out with other members and enjoy group classes, this gym may not be for you. This gym does not offer group fitness classes. Pros: Clean and neat gym environment. Open 24 hours. Good location. Free Wi-Fi. Inexpensive. Cons: Gym serves pizza and tootsie rolls a.k.a. junk food. The Lunk Alarm. The Verdict: Pizza at the gym? I have belonged to Planet Fitness for over 10 years in multiple states. The Palmdale location had a problem with people abusing the 30 minute workout area, just sitting on the equipment using their phones. I talked to staff several times, but they walked by the area without saying anything. Now in the past month they made the decision to take all of the 30 minute workout equipment out of the building. The equipment they have in the area, I can't use due to double knee replacement surgery as most require kneeling or put pressure on the knee. When I talked to the front desk, they said they weren't even notified about the switch. The national chain advertises 30 minute workout. You may be independently owned, but disappointed in your decision making process. I was willing to tolerate people disrespecting the 30 minute workout, the lack of TV choices (5 channels and not all are audible) the loud music.. but no 30 minute workout? read more

Cleaner and less packed than both 24 Hour Fitness and LA Fitness, it's 24/7 and best of all it's only $10 per month (plus the $37 annual fee they don't tell you about until you sign the contract). I was thinking of joining and went In at 3:00 AM to check out the atmosphere. The Employees seem to treat their shift like a Vegas club. Omfg. There's no reason for the music to be ear piercing at 3 am. It was soooo loud the employees were having to scream to communicate with each other. This atmosphere of LOUD BLASTING music is not for me. It will give me a migraine this early. This is a gym, not a night club. I'm leaving this review so management can know what pushes customers away and they can look at their policies of blasting music that mound that early. I've been with Planet Fitness for many years and I've never had a problem. I wanted to cancel my membership and hopefully rejoin again in a couple months. I wanted to cancel before my annual fee was charged. I called and they said that I could do that, but I had to speak with a specific manager and they wouldn't be in at a certain time. I kept trying to call and catch them because every time they said they would be in I wasn't available. I eventually was charged and now they can't do anything about it and I need to go in to cancel. It's an okay gym but the employees never know what they're talking about, it's constant conflicting information. PF encourages you to call your club but just know that it most likely will not be a simple process and you're going to have to call back a million times. read more

Money hungry! All they care about is your money. My husband and I couldn't pay a couple months due to hard times. Obviously we didn't go because we couldn't pay. When we finally got money to put in our account we were charged for all of the months we couldn't pay! Those months have passed so clearly we can't use the membership for those months! Then they train their customer service reps to lie. We were told that after we cancelled my membership, we wouldn't be charged but of course we were. When calling and speaking to a manager, we were basically told that the previous rep was wrong and oh well! With as many gyms that there are out here you should be valuing your customers. Megan has to be one of the rudest people I have ever had the displeasure of speaking with. I came to sign up today. Instead of being welcoming and encouraging she was condescending and rude. She didn't want to help with setting up a new account and just kept saying I need my routing number even though I kept telling her I would look it up. I'm filling out the form and she tells me to go sit down. It doesn't take that long to begin with but ok. Then I bring the iPad pack and try to ask her about a coupon. She refuses to even consider it (even thought my son was able to use his on a prior day with a different team member). I asked for a manager and she said well he's on lunch but if a coupon is expired it's expired. There are better ways to handle new customers and definitely a nicer way to say no to something. My mom barely signed up for this gym, I've been going to the one in North Hollywood (which I love) but the one out here in Palmdale the staff is rude. Had me pay $20 just for one hour to show my mom how to use machines and do some exercises and on top of that they were complaining about my small work out bag I had with me which had my water and Clorox wipes in it.
