Not a bad planet fitness. Went at 7 and it wasn't too crowded. Got to use every machine I wanted except for the smith, I just didn't want to wait in line for it. This location is smaller than the full version but still had every machine and enough comfortable space. read more

I like checking out PF locations and even though this one is fairly new (less than 3 years old), it feels like the quality of the equipment isn't the best. I find it strange how the wipe stations aren't stations at all.. instead just paper rolls stacked ontop of a full trashcan with a spray bottle next to it. I've definitely seen better presentations for the stations in PF gyms. The crowd here is a bit annoying because so many high pitched weight slamming occurs here with the staff not batting an eye. There seems to be missing items such as weighted balls and the kettleballs selection is very few (only three) Pros: Very well ventilated with large overhead fans and AC, good air circulation, black card amenities controlled with kiosk, sturdy and thick floor mats, despite heavy crowds there is plentiful machines and minimal wait times for a machine, prime location as it's in a beautiful area to walk through for food! read more

I left LA Fitness to come here. It's cheaper..but so are the machines. I can adapt to that. I switched back in November 2024. Summer started and all of a sudden a bunch of kids started showing up. Most are fine but some of the fat ones think they're going to look like Schwarzenegger by August. Throwing their weight around like it's 5th period P.E. Tonight a repeat of almost every night. Guys were slamming heavy weights repeatedly - two people by me were talking on their speaker phones while on the elliptical and all four of the staff were at the front desk laughing and talking so loud and looking at a computer screen - not working and not walking around asking people to stop talking on their phones and with the speakers on. I couldn't even hear my music. I was on earbuds. It was the 7:30 pm shift. No one is making it better for the customers that are annoyed by this. And several were by the looks. Gym wise, PF pasadena is okay. Staff are friendly and they always clean. However, once you start to cancel your membership, that's when it gets annoying. I've been on hold for over 12 minutes now (it's 10am!) because apparently I can't cancel my membership online. I would've stayed as a member but I moved and the PF near my new place is far and the other gyms are expensive. I wish it was just more convenient to cancel membership. Update: the staff apologized after I called again and mentioned Ive been on hold for 15 minutes. It would seem that cancellation can be done online but for some reason, there was an error and wouldn't let me do it. But glad it was easy still (only have to send an email). I would give 5-stars if the digital services (including cancelling on web) worked properly. read more

This review is in regard to the "security" that "guards" the premises (the gym staff is great, no complaints about them). I work until late at night so I usually go to the gym after midnight. The parking lot is empty by then so a lack of available parking spaces has never been an issue. Today I went in and did a simple work out, just under an hour because I was tired from work. After my work out I went back to my car and sat in it for around 10-15 minutes, without disturbing anyone or anything around me. A couple minutes went by when some security guard came up towards my car and began to stare at me before proceeding to walk away, out of my sight. Strange, but I didn't think anything of it since I wasn't doing anything, just sitting in my car and using my phone. The same security guard came back a minute or two later and stood outside my window and began to harass me, stating, "you know this is private property and you can't park here!" ????? What do you mean I can't use the parking lot for the gym that I pay a monthly membership for??? This was news to me. I informed him that I was a member at this gym and that I had just finished my work out and he proceeded to bark back at me, saying "I saw you! You've been sitting in that car for one hour and you never went to the gym!" First of all, rude. Who raised you? Secondly, why would you even admit to watching someone for an hour? Shouldn't you be patrolling the entire building? Creep. Thirdly, you must be an awful security guard if you never noticed me walk in or out of that gym in the hour I had been on the property (it's not like there's that many of us going in and out at 1-2 in the morning). I even walked past his car (which was illegally parked in the "no-parking" spot between two handicap spaces right across from the walkway that connects the parking lot to the Trader Joe's) and he wasn't even in that car. So who knows where that dude wandered off in that time. Probably harassing another gym member somewhere. This Neanderthal then proceeded to tell me that I was not allowed to park in that parking lot for more than one hour. Again, ????? I've been a member at this gym for a few years now and I usually stay for over an hour (sometimes even two, depending on how much I'm working out that day) way after midnight and have never heard of this rule. He then pointed to some signs on a wall in the distance, stating that those signs say that I can't be here for more than one hour. Is this dunce aware that many other people work out for well over an hour? Sometimes two, even three hours??? Is he going to harass the other gym members that were still in the gym after I left? I arrived after them and left before them, after all. I don't know who thought it was a good idea to hire this degenerate but it's clear that he's doing a terrible job. I've seen sketchy people having meet-ups on the bottom level of the parking lot and homeless people rummaging through the trash bins/sleeping on the property who knows how many times recently but NOPE, the one paying for a gym membership is the one that needs to leave the property. This guy's employment here needs to be reconsidered because he's clearly so bored that he has to bother paying customers who are minding their own business while sitting in their own cars. Also, the signs he was referring to state that there is a TWO hour parking limit between the hours of 8 am to 8 pm (our lovely and insightful conversation occurred at around 2 am). Where did this illiterate, poor excuse of a security guard get "one" hour from??? So just be cautious if you ever go to the gym late at night or in the early hours of the morning. This security guard (tall slender Black guy with an accent) will take it personally and will make it his mission to throw his little tantrum right outside your window to make himself feel authoritative and important. And God forbid you stay in the gym for more than an hour. I can't even fathom what kind of theatrics he'd pull in that situation. Lord have mercy on us all. Make sure you get a quick little work out in and dip before he stands outside your car and stares at you until you leave like he did with me. Great job bro. This gym is ok, but it is slipping in maintaining the equipment. Saw at leat 4 weight benches that have bad tears and are in need of some serious TLC as evidenced in the pictures. Also, there are signs reserving machines which I have never seen before. Right now there isnt that much traffic (6 am on a Friday) but I can imagine that this may cause some issues with full accessibility for people who are paying full price. In any case, the quality of the upkeep is dwindling and I hate to see this wonderful gym decline. Hopefully things will turn around. When this gym first opened everything was brand new and nice. This gym is always crowded. People are extremely rude and management does not enforce simple rules. Equipment is always broken. Further more, as a corporation they will try to cheat you for one or two months of membership fees when you attempt to cancel your membership, despite going in person and canceling. I've been LA Fitness member for 15 years,last week my daughter joined Planet Fitness and forced me to join, and here is my review. Great price for this quality gym, machines are always clean by every member which is highly appreciated, totally opposite of LA FITNESS, where hardly someone cleans his sticky sweat, and weights are all over the place. I like this place it's very organized, not a Huge Bodybuilder gym, but got enough upscale MATRIX equipment to stay fit. The Tanning beds tried yesterday they Great . I did not like this gym because the bathroom floors and counters are always wet. The parking is also bad. Many of the locker handles are broken so you cannot put a lock on them. Also, their website hours are not updated in terms of holidays. I had a few concerns and the receptionist gave me managements email and said they would email me back... and of course, the management never got back to me and it's been 11 days and they just charged my account the annual fee even though I cancelled my membership. Great value. I joined Planet Fitness to replace my usual home gym workouts because, Eaton Fire. Fire aside, the gym has been great! I can't believe it's only $15 per month ($24 to bring a guest and use the fun bonus massage chairs and red light room). Culture: Clean and efficient with lots of weight machines (all of them work), plentiful free weights, tons of cardio machines, and i haven't noticed dudes openly staring at ladies butts and making it weird. People are there to workout, it's nice. The staff is helpful if maybe a bit bored and dissatisfied, which is understandable. Locker room: Smells fine, lots of lockers, clean and plentiful toilets, 3 showers that are clean enough (no mold no rust). Bonuses: The "spa" area is a fun novelty. I've so far enjoyed doing the red light room with the vibration plate. Overall, I'm thrilled to have this affordable and fun gym to work out in until the ash and smoke are cleared from my home. I may even join again since it's been such a pleasant workout experience. read more

This location is only a couple weeks old and it's very neat, organized and very affordable gym. Gym has a max capacity of 481. They are located in Pasadena. It has all the weights and benches that your body desire. Furthermore, staff were competent, friendly and professional. As a PF member, their prices were very affordable. So if you want a modest gym that won't cost you an arm and leg this is the fitness club for you. Ample of parking and it's easy. Overall, I like this new location. read more

Short Review: Great, casual gym for those wanting to stay in shape and not feel the pressures of gym rats to look ripped. They have after-workout hydro massage equipment which is a big bonus! Long Review: I love the Planet Fitness concept! They have encouraging words and phrases all over the gym to keep you motivated and the staff is really friendly and helpful. They have all the equipment, machines and weights you can imagine, and even a 30-min circuit exercise room so you can do a quickie on the run. The differentiator for this gym is that they have hydro-massage lounge chairs and massage chairs for your apres-workout needs. Also several tanning booths and a quiet "chill" room. They make the effort to allow their members to take care of their total selves. Love it! The Pasadena location is less than a year old (as of April 2024) and was a badly needed addition to the city. The other gyms are a lot more targeted to gym rats / workout queens than PF. The closest location had been Alhambra so this is a treat for us locals. However, it's not as large as some of the other locations which is a bummer when it gets busy. They've also put waaaaaay too much equipment too close together so that's a minus to be on the elliptical or treadmill and only inches away from your neighbor. But otherwise a good gym. First off, love this gym. They are always cleaning. I'm low maintenance so I'm in and out, don't have to wait long for machines. But my biggest continuing issue are what's on the tvs. I'm not saying everyone has to know about sports... But they at least should be aware of what's on. I just asked for the NBA FINALS to be on at least one of the 15 tvs filled with home cooking network, dodgers replays and marvel movies. The game is on ABC, ya know, major tv station?!? They couldn't find it and then said they don't have ABC. That's impossible, of course you have ABC. The guy asked me if it was in NFL network... come on. I get it that not everyone loves sports, but as a former La fitness employee and bartender, I was always aware of what was on to keep my customers happy. Yesss! Finally a Planet Fitness in Pasadena! I've been waiting for this for soo long and my prayers have been heard lol. This Planet Fitness is found in the Lake Shops. You can find this gym upstairs literally right next to Trader Joe's! Perfect, gym session and then grocery shop! This is gym is very clean! I get it, it's new. They just officially opened on December 2nd. Very organized and clean! I'm very excited to use the Planet Fitness Black Card member amenities. They staff here are nice, welcoming, and helpful. Heads up, they don't have matts yet. But they will be getting some soon. Parking is free which is great. The last thing I want to think about is paying for parking, haha. Overall great experience! This gym is new so everything is clean. The equipment met our needs albeit it was a Sunday afternoon so it was not peak time. I counted four smith machines and a handful of benches. This seems like a cardio focused gym with all the treadmills, ellipticals, bicycles and stair machines if that's what you are looking for. I'd recommend. I recently switched over my gym membership here for the price point and location. I wish this location had more mirrors and more floor space in general. It feels like the weight area is very tight and lines will form fast to use the equipment. There are endless cardio machines, which is all I'm there for. The circuit training space is an interesting concept, but I have yet to try it out because other people there did not switch machines like prompted. I'm wondering if people know how to use that space or just don't care to move. Machine cleanliness is OK if you don't look too close. The bathroom is hit-and-miss with the cleanliness. The massage chairs are a nice touch but if they switched out the tanning booth with a dry sauna, it would be amazing! read more

I joined this gym because of the "Red Light Therapy" allegedly offered through their Full Body Enhancement machines. Thing is, all machines at the these gyms do not emit a RED glowing light, it's more of a light violet light. Curious as to why not red, I asked the staff about this. Not a single person was able to tell me anything about this machine. How can they not be educated on what they advertise? Now I'm stuck with the Black Card year membership. What a waste. ***EDIT*** So grateful that management was able to respond to my post and address the Red Light Therapy issue, this is all I wanted to know. More impressive was the quick attention and reply. Because of this, I have more trust and admiration for management and the facility. I am so excited that Planet Fitness opened up in Pasadena. Not only is it 24 hours, it has everything you need for a great workout. They are currently working on hiring trainers for classes, which is something I am highly interested in. There is plenty of free parking as it's conveniently located in the Shops at Lake. All of the machines and equipment are brand new which is exciting. I am a Black Card member which gives me access to their spa and so far I've tried the hydro massage bed and the wellness pod which is a nice way to unwind. Staff has been super helpful and, most importantly, the place is CLEAN! As of now, it's not super busy; however, that will change with a new year coming so I am taking full advantage of the "quiet" and not have to wait on equipment. I've already brought a friend and they were super impressed with the facility. Also, be warned, it's next door to Trader Joes so you may walk out with a few groceries on the way home. read more

I like the "No Judgement" theme and that people of all ages from teens to 80's can be comfortable at Planet Fitness. I dropped one star because I was looking forward to taking a yoga class, but they don't offer any yoga. But if you're just looking for weights and cardio, this is a great deal at $15/$25 a month. I would love to understand the psychology behind the purple and yellow because it's so atrocious I can't even think about anything but that. I mean for $10 a month you can't beat that, minus the sneaky $60+ annual fee. Their machines feel like they're from Alibaba but they work. Also, not that I have a gallon sized water jug but that just seems like a ridiculous reason to kick someone out. Standing in line waiting 35 minutes for punks to get off a machine is not acceptable to customers and should not be allowed by staff. Maybe if your employees put down they phones and walked around the gym they would see the line of customers waiting for a chance to complete their workout. Absentee leadership results in poor business practices. Rather than providing me a phone number to call....how about you do your job, train staff and prevent waisting everyone's time. The loss of subscribers, market share or even the closure of gyms are not only the result of the emergence of competition, but are often the result of poor management. You should constantly be looking for ways to improve your gym, as well as making an effort to communicate with your users and get to know them. Insead, your staff rarely greets gym users, rarely look up from their phones and allow loitering. I would give this a 5-star review if their floorspace was a little better planned. I'm a ropes fan and the battle ropes they have are on the lighter side and also, as positioned, impossible to fully extend for use. I had to move a bench out of the way to even use them. I get it, they have very limited floor space but if they did a quarter turn on the arm tower, then they could put the ropes in position to be fully extended to the center of the room and properly used instead of confining ropes users to a place with their backs literally against a wall. That criticism aside, the place is SO CLEAN! Equipment is all brand new and even with a very packed gym, it was possible to work through my entire set. Staff was friendly. I'm looking forward to going back to check out the massage lounge. Locker rooms and showers are tops. Really, if they could just figure out the ropes situation I'd change it to 5 stars. read more

I am an Equinox junkie x12 years! However, that is about to change! I absolutely love PF. They have almost everything I need. What I would want more than ANYTHING is different lighting. Yuck with the bright, nasty fluorescents above....blech. Gives me a headache and steals energy. You don't need to reinvent the wheel on this one....take NOTE of Barry's, Soulcycle, CorePower, Stride, Equinox, and more......EVERY single one has super fabulous lighting. Not clean, had a hard time finding a cleaning bottle anywhere, cut myself in sharp equipment and asked staff for band aid and first guy acted like they didn't have any as I know they do, ask another employee who did help. Also tried to use the jukebox "rock bot" app they have to select gyms music and was repeatedly had music I chose downvoted by staff as well as them only playing staffs choice the whole hour I was in the gym, go to any other local PF before here. We've been going to PF on Clemson Rd for a couple years. We were Black Card members but cancelled recently because the massage machines were always broken. Even when they were "repaired" they weren't working properly. Then when we cancelled they kept charging me for the Black Card additional fee. I'm still trying to get my money back. Managers are not helpful at all. The gym equipment has gone down considerably since we joined because it's not maintained. Some members are allowed to hog the machines by working on several at once. Don't waste your money. Join a better gym! We did. read more

I been coming to this gym for a couple months now and I've always been allowed to use my own personal jump rope with no issues and other gyms as well. A personal trainer or worker I'm not even sure rudely told me to stop so he could do his class and said I couldn't use my jump rope. I asked if they provided jump ropes and he said no which is why I brought my own....he suggested I just "go outside" and was condescending. Like why do I pay just to work out outside ? Very unprofessional and unwelcoming.even though I was away from his class. I saw another girl just five minutes later use her own equipment and was told nothing. Do better and train better to be more welcoming and understanding of people trying to do their own workouts smh. read more
