I've been coming to this Y location to work with my personal trainer (ASK FOR JIMMY - he's amazing!!) - not all locations offer that particular service but this one does and it's great bc they have the most extensive weight rooms of the local ones I've visited. They have THREE different weight rooms here!! Some with nautilus machines and some with mostly free weights, and another with medicine balls and group bikes for spin classes etc. They also have the largest treadmill room of all the area locations that includes bikes, ellipticals, a stair master and two rowing machines! They only have one pool here (indoor) and it's the smallest in the area - you make timed reservations via their app but it fills up fast. The app is super easy to use and you can block out 30 minute increments as available in each lane with no limit to how long you want to swim - so helpful in avoiding conflicts! They have a very large ballroom/classroom and weekly classes you can also sign up for - also very easy to do in their app. This location also boasts the largest variety of class options in the area! The staff are all wonderful - so helpful and friendly! I absolutely LOVE my trainer Jimmy - he's calm but pushes me still and very kind and knowledgeable. He'll be offering classes of his own soon - I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Jimmy!! He's the best! They have an upstairs section and downstairs- but I think they have an elevator (I'm not 100% sure). Prices are very reasonable- especially compared to all the other gyms in the area - I've been shopping around for general gym services with a pool and personal trainer for several months now and the prices here beat all the others. They have a tiny parking lot that fills up fast but there's also street parking.

    Wall scuffs never cleaned

It's very dirty in there. If you trace a finger over the paper towel dispensers or any flat surface you'll get a big dust smudge. They never cleaned the walls, vents, and they half clean the equipment (dust on the weights and pulleys) I went there for about two months consistently but I was always kinda sad about it. Prison basement vibes. People are not nice and I think it's because of the vibe in there.

I cleaned that table for them.

Ask the Community - Crowell Family YMCA

Is the pool inside or outside? Impossible to call them and no good photos on the website or here.

    pool is indoor!

Does the pool smell a lot like chlorine? Is it very chlorine-y?

Hello, I've noticed during summer months the pool will have a stronger smell of chlorine, but not to point where it burns your eyes. During Winter or cooler days, no smell of chlorine at all.

Anyone know what their holiday hours are? Not posted on the website and there is no recorded message on the phone line with hours.

Drove by this morning and it looked closed. Called and no one answered which also suggest it is closed. Ketchum Y in DTLA Is open until 2 pm today. Hope this helps

    What are the rates?

$49/month - prorated first month and will waive registration on Tuesdays in May (2018).

The staff is always genuinely pleasant and helpful -- the kind of people who greet you with a smile and make the space feel welcoming. I love the infrared sauna, especially because you can book it in advance, which makes planning workouts so much easier. Their variety of weight machines keeps things interesting, and I never feel like I'm waiting around for equipment. It's rarely crowded except for the usual New Year rush. Parking in the lot can be a little tricky since it's small, but there's plenty of free street parking right outside, so it's never a dealbreaker. They also offer a great lineup of workout classes, which adds even more value. Overall, it's a gym that makes staying consistent feel effortless. Neighbors and friends are all members so it's fun to work out together and there are perks for referring new members too!

The facilities are very spacious, albeit extremely busy a lot of the time, they have a lot of classes and equipment, and the people who work there are all really personable and attendant. Super nice staff. So why not 5 stars? Because sometimes the music is just this contemporary drivel that makes me lose my mind. Yeah, I could put in some earbuds but they never stay in during heavy bag work. I just don't understand why music is so bad these days. Is it the gym's fault for things going on in the music industry? Yes. Yes it is. If you are sitting there all shift day after day, make a playlist and put some love into it. There's SO much good music out there. Don't play homogeneous corporate slop. We can do better. I BELIEVE IN YOU!!!!

I like Equinox, mostly because it's the only gym I've ever been able to go to consistently. I'm in…read morePasadena and I pay $240/month. Mine doesn't have a pool. I think whether it's worth it really depends on how you use it. If you're just using it like a normal gym, it's obviously way overpriced. But if you actually take advantage of the classes and amenities, it is worth it. The floor Pilates classes are free but the reformer classes are extra. The classes are really high quality with good instructors. For me especially because I hate packing stuff and they provide everything you need for all classes. Even for yoga, you don't have to bring anything. You just show up and they have mats, bolsters, blankets, and everything is clean and ready to go. For me personally, I use it as an escape because I can hit the steam room and take a shower sort of like a spa pass. They provide all the bath products too. I'm not a huge fan of the products themselves, they are drying kind of like hotel products,, but at least they're there, so I don't have to think about packing anything. Another thing is that it removed a lot of barriers because they provide towels, which are always clean and fluffy (and I don't have to wash). I can show up in workout clothes with a water bottle and everything else is provided. As with any gym, though, it's not worth it if you don't actually use it. It's also not a huge social scene, which might be a downside for some people but is an upside for me. I can go work out without worrying about having to talk to people or have awkward interactions around equipment. There aren't tons of people taking selfies or clogging up machines and walkways. It also doesn't get super crowded, which I think is partly because of the price point. Those are all huge pluses for me, but I'm on the more introverted side and just trying to work out, not update my social media or make new friends at the gym. I'm basically paying to remove barriers that usually prevent me from going to regular gyms, plus the classes are quality. I don't have to wait for equipment or deal with a bunch of little obstacles that make me less likely to go. They validate parking, which is another big plus. Between the parking, classes, towels, showers, and amenities, there are basically no barriers. The customer service is also really good, I've never had an unpleasant interaction on my way in or out at the front desk, so the whole experience is low stress. I used someone's referral code from here when I joined and got a gift shop credit/didn't have to pay the initiation fee. Everyone I know has been able to join without paying the invitation fee, so don't pay it, they will find a way to waive it because they want your business. I used someone else's link from reddit, but it got taken down. It got the fee waived and I got a credit, so I'm posting my link in case it helps someone else. https://equinox.com/referrals/003A000001TO5GKIA1 Bottom line is it's worth it if it actually gets you to go or you're already paying for classes somewhere else. If you're already paying for yoga classes somewhere else, that's probably close to $100 a month by itself, and you usually don't get all the extra amenities. For me, the biggest value is that it removes barriers and makes it easy and low stress so I don't avoid it. Having everything provided and not having to plan or prepare makes me much more likely to go consistently and yeah, I could save money and go somewhere else, but I wouldn't go, thus my Equinox membership.

WOW! Do not go to this club! BEWARE!…read more I went here as a guest as my girlfriend is(was) a member. She had been going here for about 3 years. I would say a dedicated member. This would be my 3rd time coming as a guest. I wanted to show her how I do my kettlebell workout. I am not a professional trainer. I do not work in the fitness industry. I am just someone who likes to stay in shape and I am not a part of any Gym. My Gf is a personal trainer for a living. We started to work out with kettlebells, and I stood of to the side and helped her. Within 5 minutes a manager comes over and says" you are not allowed to do personal training" I said," what does it need to look like so it will not appear to be personal training. I am not training her." The Manager said" if you work out together, doing the same exercise that's ok" So we complied. For the next 45 minutes that is what we did. When we finally got to our last exercise of working out together. The general Manager, Madison Bin,(Super long fake eyelashes) shows up and in a crowded section to let us know we are still engaged in personal training. I asked her," which exercise can you confirm that personal training was going on?" She could not answer. Only to reply" my trainers saw you" Basically, no one saw us and wanted nothing more than to elevate the situation. After escalating the situation in front of their other members, my GF decided to terminate her membership and ask for a refund on the remaining amount. We walk to the lobby and my GF goes to talk to their senior salesman, Benson Frederick. This idiot proceeds to escalate the situation even more by accusing us right away of training and starts to yell at me right away to get out of his office. No discussion. No understanding. Just yelling "get out"! I do not engage with people when they start yelling and I walk out. He would continue to yell and even spell the word "Out" This is how they treat their guest. And if you come in with your significant other or close partner beware. I guess all the trainers think they are Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible and They will treat you like "Osama Bin Training"
