I've been coming to this new Lagree studio in San Marino for about two months now, and I've enjoyed every single session with the instructor, Jennie.

The staff is always genuinely pleasant and helpful -- the kind of people who greet you with a smile and make the space feel welcoming. I love the infrared sauna, especially because you can book it in advance, which makes planning workouts so much easier. Their variety of weight machines keeps things interesting, and I never feel like I'm waiting around for equipment. It's rarely crowded except for the usual New Year rush. Parking in the lot can be a little tricky since it's small, but there's plenty of free street parking right outside, so it's never a dealbreaker. They also offer a great lineup of workout classes, which adds even more value. Overall, it's a gym that makes staying consistent feel effortless. Neighbors and friends are all members so it's fun to work out together and there are perks for referring new members too!

The facilities are very spacious, albeit extremely busy a lot of the time, they have a lot of classes and equipment, and the people who work there are all really personable and attendant. Super nice staff. So why not 5 stars? Because sometimes the music is just this contemporary drivel that makes me lose my mind. Yeah, I could put in some earbuds but they never stay in during heavy bag work. I just don't understand why music is so bad these days. Is it the gym's fault for things going on in the music industry? Yes. Yes it is. If you are sitting there all shift day after day, make a playlist and put some love into it. There's SO much good music out there. Don't play homogeneous corporate slop. We can do better. I BELIEVE IN YOU!!!!

Switching to this gym has been a breath of fresh air. MFC is run by a hardworking and friendly family who's always quick to help and the gymgoers contribute to the overall chill vibe that I love about this place. Equipment: TONS. There's every attachment possible for the cable machines. In addition to having all the typical plate-loaded and pin machines and dumbbells (in 2.5 lb increments too!) for the general fitness enthusiast, they also have specialty equipment for bodybuilding, strongman, olympic weightlifting, and powerlifting. I started coming here to prep for a powerlifting meet and appreciate the 2 combo racks, multi-station rig, many deadlift platforms, and multiple benches. There's plenty of powerlifting equipment so I've never had to wait to SBD. Community: The folks who come here are respectful and have good gym etiquette. Some folks keep to themselves; they're locked in and focused on their own workouts. Other folks enjoy talking more and building friendships as they train. To each their own - I just love that folks wipe down their equipment after use and rerack their weights. Bathroom: Super clean with multiple stalls, showers, and lockers inside Parking: Spacious, free parking lot. I've never encountered this, but if the lot was ever full, you could easily find (free) street parking Bonuses: There's a large cubby shelf located under the stairs for us to drop our stuff off while we work out. There's also a charging station and several cleaning sprays + constantly restocked towels so we can easily wipe down equipment (and ourselves) They offer $5 day passes on the last Friday of every month so take advantage of that to come check out how awesome this gym is. $65 for the monthly membership is such an invaluable investment for all that MFC provides. I'm incredibly happy to be training here and know you will be too!

I like Equinox, mostly because it's the only gym I've ever been able to go to consistently. I'm in…read morePasadena and I pay $240/month. Mine doesn't have a pool. I think whether it's worth it really depends on how you use it. If you're just using it like a normal gym, it's obviously way overpriced. But if you actually take advantage of the classes and amenities, it is worth it. The floor Pilates classes are free but the reformer classes are extra. The classes are really high quality with good instructors. For me especially because I hate packing stuff and they provide everything you need for all classes. Even for yoga, you don't have to bring anything. You just show up and they have mats, bolsters, blankets, and everything is clean and ready to go. For me personally, I use it as an escape because I can hit the steam room and take a shower sort of like a spa pass. They provide all the bath products too. I'm not a huge fan of the products themselves, they are drying kind of like hotel products,, but at least they're there, so I don't have to think about packing anything. Another thing is that it removed a lot of barriers because they provide towels, which are always clean and fluffy (and I don't have to wash). I can show up in workout clothes with a water bottle and everything else is provided. As with any gym, though, it's not worth it if you don't actually use it. It's also not a huge social scene, which might be a downside for some people but is an upside for me. I can go work out without worrying about having to talk to people or have awkward interactions around equipment. There aren't tons of people taking selfies or clogging up machines and walkways. It also doesn't get super crowded, which I think is partly because of the price point. Those are all huge pluses for me, but I'm on the more introverted side and just trying to work out, not update my social media or make new friends at the gym. I'm basically paying to remove barriers that usually prevent me from going to regular gyms, plus the classes are quality. I don't have to wait for equipment or deal with a bunch of little obstacles that make me less likely to go. They validate parking, which is another big plus. Between the parking, classes, towels, showers, and amenities, there are basically no barriers. The customer service is also really good, I've never had an unpleasant interaction on my way in or out at the front desk, so the whole experience is low stress. I used someone's referral code from here when I joined and got a gift shop credit/didn't have to pay the initiation fee. Everyone I know has been able to join without paying the invitation fee, so don't pay it, they will find a way to waive it because they want your business. I used someone else's link from reddit, but it got taken down. It got the fee waived and I got a credit, so I'm posting my link in case it helps someone else. https://equinox.com/referrals/003A000001TO5GKIA1 Bottom line is it's worth it if it actually gets you to go or you're already paying for classes somewhere else. If you're already paying for yoga classes somewhere else, that's probably close to $100 a month by itself, and you usually don't get all the extra amenities. For me, the biggest value is that it removes barriers and makes it easy and low stress so I don't avoid it. Having everything provided and not having to plan or prepare makes me much more likely to go consistently and yeah, I could save money and go somewhere else, but I wouldn't go, thus my Equinox membership.

I've been an Equinox member on and off since 2013 -- and had great experiences at SF Union, SF Pine St, NYC locations, Tyson's and Glendale -- and never again. The Pasadena Equinox deviates from Equinox's documented general corporate policies and expect you to know this despite no signs, no notification and no advance notice (mentioning to members at check-in, etc.) The women's bathroom staff were extremely rude, unevenly applying their policies to prevent people in towels from entering shower and knocking on showers mid-shower to demand people exit mid-shower and saying "it's their policy and we should know" Note no manager was on duty -- I asked to speak to someone during gym business hours and there was no one at the gym to speak to -- and my email to the GM regarding this is unanswered. I'm attaching screenshot of Equinox's corporate policy regarding this -- Pasadena is not in line with the Equinox policy, which is 15 mins before close; not 30 -- and Pasadena doesn't document this anywhere. I can't wait to figure out another gym to support instead ASAP.

I found them through ClassPass and noticed on their website that first-time clients are required to take the Luxe Fundamentals class, which I appreciated since it helped me get familiar with the studio and teaching style. I already had my own grip socks, but they do have grip socks available for purchase if needed. The studio itself is spacious, bright, and filled with natural light. They have eight custom Balanced Body reformers that felt incredibly comfortable to use. The reformers are slightly longer than standard ones, which was my personal preference. I'm sure others would like this as well! The layout is thoughtfully designed and never felt crowded, even during class. I also caught a glimpse of one of their private rooms, which looked lovely. I took Luxe Fundamentals with Myra, and she was fantastic. She incorporated a 10-pound Pilates circle into the workout, making it a surprisingly challenging full-body class while still offering modifications for those with back pain or other limitations. What stood out most was how she took the time to learn everyone's names, which made the experience feel personal and welcoming. The music was upbeat without being distracting, and Myra's instructions were easy to hear throughout class. There's a small bench near the entrance for personal belongings, though I would have appreciated a bit more space for bags and other items. One thing to keep in mind is parking. The lot is fairly small, so I would definitely recommend arriving early to secure a spot and settle in before class. Overall, I had a great first experience and can see why people love this studio. I'll definitely be back.
