What an ABSOLUTE comeback for this gym. I did give it 2 stars 3 years ago but that was due to some horrible ventilation issues on the 3rd floor that they since have fixed. So, now they have rightfully earned their 5 stars. The whole gym is still a great place to workout, the staff is friendly and professional, the regulars are fantastic people and this is definitely a welcoming place to get your workout in and go home in a timely manner. 10/10. read more

I was excited when I received a two-week guest pass to try out this gym during the South Lake Holidayfest. It's also the closest gym to my home. I walked to this gym, but I know they have underground parking, which the gym validates. The facility was clean, and the staff was friendly. They have a lot of exercise equipment, but everything is placed very close together. During peak hours, it can be difficult to use certain machines. I attended both a yoga class and a total body class. The total body class nearly killed me--I probably pushed myself too hard, and my muscles were sore for days afterward. I also enjoyed the sauna and even had some nice conversations there. While I personally like another location better, this gym definitely gets the job done if you're just looking for a solid workout. read more

This review is about the new Pilates classes offered by LA Fitness. So happy they added them to this location. A couple things to note: 1. Classes are 45 mins long 2. All booked via La fitness app 3. They fill up fast so book as soon as the next week's class becomes available 4. If you add yourself to the waitlist you HAVE TO TELL front desk when you check in that you are on the waitlist. I didn't know I had to do that. Overall classes are great. Everything feels organized. And it's such a great deal. Equipment is new and the room is really nice. Instructors are patient and great especially because there's a lot of us newbies :) read more

I told the "Grand Wizard of Personal Training" twenty minutes ago that I would leave a review and I am a man of my word. Today, Jordan, one of the GWizard's disciples, told me I was forbidden indefinitely from using the only pull-up bar with a solid grip in the entire facility. I have used it for the last 2 years of back days because I do not want to slip on one of the normal (terrible) bars with 90 pounds dangling from my nuts. The staff have always been so kind to let me use it after they were done personal training or even during sometimes if I was polite and did not disturb their training. Until Jordan decided that his word was law. I would like to see if Jordan could dangle in such a manner. Doubt it, by the looks of him. I'm honestly beyond frustrated with this facility. I've tried to be patient, but this has become a recurring issue. Multiple times now -- including today -- I've gone to use the cable machines, only to find there are no attachments available. Whether they're being hoarded, misplaced, or stolen, it's completely unacceptable that members can't access basic equipment. All I ask is to be able to use the machines I pay for. I'm seriously considering switching to Equinox and paying more just to have a consistent, reliable gym experience. LA Fitness really needs to step up its game. read more

Not a bad gym. Probably one of the least busy locations and one of the cleanest. I don't like how guests aren't allowed to bring large backpacks or duffle bags upstairs though. Kinda whack to be honest. My housemate and I have been searching for a new gym so we decided to try all we could find in the area. From the outside they make it look massive and very elite. Underground parking (which is $15 if you don't validate) leads to the entrance which is basically a weird call center for telemarketers. Their system couldn't input me or my guest properly so we had to visit word of mouth by forming a little friendship with the doorman. Once inside, the equipment is spread around in a strange unplanned way. The stair climber fleet is as the top of the third floor instead of next to the other cardio equipment. I guess they thought "well they're climbing stairs anyways so let's put all the stairs in the entire facility in their way" ...there are mirrors everywhere to try and make it seem bigger. A lot of the best machines or things I needed to use were like stuffed into 5ft wide micro hallways behind walls like some weird afterthought. There is no pool, basketball court, or turf which was advertised. And they close at ridiculously early times. The people have a specific attitude, each gym we've been to there's a different vibe with the crowd there. This one had some specific energy, my housemate remarked on it too. Whatever it is, we both agreed we were disappointed and continued our search. read more

I feel like the current 2.8 star overall rating isn't deserved. Ive been coming here for 4 years and have nothing seriously negative to report. This place is a solid option for casual gym-ers in the neighborhood. It's clean, has lots of equipment options and parking. Its easy to show up and do your own thing even at the busiest times due to the vast amount of equipment. I have never taken a class here but the people that do seem to go at their own pace and look satisfied. So far the staff has been super friendly and the clientele are diverse enough on any given day that there is no assigned 'vibe' to note of. It does get a bit hot in the summer with all the sun shining in through the large windows but the people watching from the cardio machines is great for burning time while you burn calories. read more

I would like to say that this facility allows people to bring in guest that are aggressive and disrespectful to paying members. The other day a member by the name of Jessica was allowed to bring in a guest who then verbally assaulted me and made threats to at which point. I asked for assistance at the front desk. What was supposed to be a 10 minute break to grab a juice for work tired into a 30 minute lunch break for a smoothie. This place is hard to find there's no signs or clear direction on how to access the building. The lady showed patience guiding me there on the phone but I wish someone would have come up and showed me where to access the place. If I wasn't sick and didn't want something to boost my immune system I would have NOT wasted my time trying to find the juice place inside. This gym has some incredible staff whom I'm very close with, so it pains me to write this review. But anyone comparing LA Fitness to other facilities in the area deserves a transparent picture of the experience. To start with the positives, this location has an excellent selection of equipment. The variety of machines is strong, and the floor to ceiling windows bring in a ton of natural light. And as mentioned, every LA Fitness employee I've interacted with is wonderful. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. From an operational standpoint, this location consistently struggles. Equipment regularly sits out of service for days at a time with little urgency around repair. Even simple items such as sanitizer dispensers are labeled "scheduled for service" for weeks. The gym culture here is also pretty bad, but I recognize that's hard to control. The incident that ultimately prompted this review, however, involves the parking operation. This location uses an underground garage with a two hour parking limit that requires taking a ticket when you enter. The garage itself is managed by a third party parking vendor. I imagine LA Fitness will respond by saying they're not responsible for how the parking staff conduct themselves. However, from a business perspective, vendor relationships are still part of the end to end customer experience. When a vendor contributes to negative reviews and churn, it's worth addressing. For additional context, LA Fitness requires members to leave some form of collateral at the front desk in order to check out cable attachments. It's common practice amongst the members to leave their parking ticket at the front desk when checking out attachments. I do this literally every day and have never had an issue, until today. Today, the front desk mistakenly gave my parking ticket to another member who had checked out cable attachments. They were apologetic and called the parking attendant directly to explain the situation. I was told the attendant had been informed and all I needed to do was let them know that I was the LA Fitness member whose parking ticket got lost, and I'd be able to exit the garage. When I reached the exit booth, the parking attendant had no understanding of the situation and immediately began questioning why I would give my parking ticket to LA Fitness and how the gym could have lost it. As I attempted to explain, she cut me off and said she would call the front desk herself. After several minutes on the phone, she returned to my car and told me that LA Fitness said I was lying and that they had no recollection of the situation. She then stood in front of my vehicle writing down my license plate number before returning to my window to lecture me about how I am not allowed to use my parking ticket as collateral moving forward and that I would not "get away with this again." That's not okay. It's unacceptable to be publicly chastised and belittled, and accused of lying, over a situation caused by a breakdown in internal process and vendor coordination. I would happily pay a parking fee of any amount to not be made to feel that way. For a company operating at the scale of LA Fitness, basic alignment between the gym and its vendors is expected. Prospective members should take that into account when comparing options in the area. I recommend the Anytime Fitness in La Canada if you prefer a strong sense of community and are okay with a smaller layout, or Speakeasy Fitness just down the road for more serious lifters looking for plenty of equipment without hostile parking staff. read more

What stands out to me about Jordan is his ability to understand my specific goals and provide me the right type of support to reach them. I can tell he genuinely cares about his clients because of his attention to detail during our sessions. He helps me understand the exercises, the correct form, what body parts we are working on, etc. He is a great listener, a fantastic coach, and an authentic person. LA Fitness, Rosemead Blvd in Pasadena, has a problem. The early AM crew and I have been lodging complaints about the absence of free weights in the weight lifting area for 6 weeks with no resolution. Yesterday, congregating as each of us searched for the nonexistant free weights, we discussed alternate gyms. Members, like the four of us, openly discuss and share our disappointment that this facility fails to meet minimal equipment requirements. I suspect that many members will be looking elsewhere for a new gym. read more

I've been going to the gym for 32 years now and out of all the affordable franchise gyms I've been to, this one by far is the best. It acts more like an equinox vs an LA fitness without the premium price.Towel service, The full staff, all the way to the cleaning staff greet you. Always clean, equipment new, never broken down and if so, only down for the most a day or two. The members that go here tend to be more on the professional side, since it's close to business buildings and retail shops. It has a good gym culture, people clean the machines after themselves and for the most part put the weights back in the correct weight area. I highly recommend it, so many positives to this gym!! Not Worth It - Save Yourself the Headache In the grand scheme of gyms, this one ranks near the bottom. I had a basic membership and simply wanted to upgrade to a VIP membership so I could access multiple locations. Seems simple, right? Nope. They told me I'd either have to cancel my current membership and start a brand new one--with new initiation fees and first/last month's payment--or pay an absurd "upgrade" fee. When I asked why it was so complicated and expensive just to upgrade, I got the weirdest explanation that made zero sense. Trying to get clarity from a manager was even worse--I was met with nothing but a hard sales pitch. I emailed customer service three separate times. When I finally got a reply weeks later, they completely ignored every question I asked and just told me to go back into the gym. Lol. This place is a waste of time and money. The customer service is nonexistent, and they clearly don't care about retaining members. I canceled my membership and moved on to Planet Fitness--so far, a much smoother and more straightforward experience. Don't even bother with this gym. You deserve better. read more

The men's bathroom has had a urinal blockage for 2 weeks now. How this hasn't been immediately fixed, is incomprehensible. The entire bathroom smells like sewer backup, making the sauna disgusting too. Inhaling sewer backup is extremely bad for you. I have reported this to the Pasadena Public Health Department. Having to report a gym for something like this just got to show how this gym is not properly managed. You'll routinely see staff just messing around and clicking on computers rather than fixing any issues. The only good workers are the ones who clean the gym floors (guy with a hat and a couple of the girls). Do not enter men's restroom, unsanitary! read more

this LA Fitness on Lake St is pretty nice. i have only visited this location once solely because of the parking. they have a structure parking garage but i don't really like how we have to pay for parking in order to go to the gym we already pay for. the gym does do parking validation which is nice but only for 2 hours. i do stay at the gym for a bit longer than 2 hours so im still paying at the end. that is probably the only downfall of this gym. other than that, i did enjoy my time here. the receptionists were nice and welcoming. i really like that they have glass windows with a view. i noticed how nicely organized the equipment and machines were. the gym was nicely cleaned. the girls dressing room was really nicely cleaned. amazing lighting. the gym is pretty big, i like how they have a upstairs and downstairs which gives you lots of options to choose from. their treadmills and stairs masters are the same as every other La fitness. nothing fancy but they work which is great. i like how all of the weights were on the racks so I didn't have to go searching for the one I want. i found a comfortable spot to do my workouts and really enjoyed it. read more

I have honestly held off on reviewing this gym because I preferred gatekeeping others from discovering it -- its one of the best. Not just for the community, availability of equipment (in the morning at least), or all the big windows, but mostly for the amazing costumer experience from employees such as Nyah at the front. Whether it is 10am or 5am, she is always greets me (and several others) by name, is present with a smile, excitement, and even predicts that Im about to ask for a towel. Of all the gyms I have been to, from Crunch to LA Fitness Signature Clubs to Equinox, nothing compares to THAT level of costumer. It makes being up that early at least a little better. I hope she gets the recognition she deserves. Other benefits of the club is the Smoothies! I have come in on my work breaks just to get one. Another stand out person behind the counter! What could improve are the showers (which the majority often have faulty water pressure), the availability of sanitizing wipes, and the option to refill water upstairs. Great gym. Great Staff. I recently signed up for membership and Jerry reached out to me about the complimentary personal training session. So, I met with him and he really took the time to get to know me and where I'm at. I mentioned my past injuries and he showed me some exercises, and modifications I can do (both at the gym and at home) to help regain some ankle mobility. He has a degree in kinesiology (and being a former athlete, experience with injuries) and dropped some knowledge about why/how consistent physical therapy exercises are crucial to my strength training. She's an incredible personal trainer! She understands and knows what I want for my specific goals. She is helping me achieve the goals I need to work on or focus on for my workout. She taught me exercises, proper form, the body parts we were working on during our sessions, etc. She is very patience and supportive during sessions. I can tell that she genuinely cares about her clients and helps them achieve their workout goals. She is an attentive listener, understanding their needs, and providing really good exercises for them. Vina is an amazing personal trainer! LA Fitness on Lake Ave is 5 star club. Gym is super clean and people are very helpful. Their personal training plan is top of the line. Vina is my trainer for about 3 years. I joined LA Fitness because I had a problem loosing weight with no energy. I also had problem of injuring myself doing wrong exercise. Antonio consulted me for the best plan and introduced me to master trainer Vina. Vina helped me to strengthen my body to the point I can deadlift 75lb barbell with ease. She not only strengthen me, but also teach me how to discipline myself to keep exercising without getting injured. I am almost 60 years old and very healthy thanks to the personal training program, Antonio, Vina, Brice, Ken and all the staff at the Lake Ave LA Fitness. read more

It's a no for me. This location offers no additional amenities (pool, basketball courts, tennis courts, etc. that you may see elsewhere) Machines are all old and dirty, wear and tear, parts of the machine and paint chipping away. Weights, add ons, separate weight attachments, etc are always MIA. I notice most people are just bringing their own. I had a hard time cancelling my membership and was told that I had to go in person, both times trying, the manager didn't show up for work that day. Finally had to do it through a form sent to my email after taking on the phone with a rep. It's crazy that the prices are jacked up when they don't offer much at this specific location. Find a different option, IMO. read more

Whether it's 6am, 12pm, 3pm, or 7pm, this gym is always crowded. The sales rep was misleading as they said it's not crowded often. I must have come at an off day, because it's almost always busy and I have to wait for machines. Standard equipment like bar pads, bar clips, etc. need to be rented out and you have to leave an ID or keys with them at the front desk, which is fine, but adds another layer of inconvenience. There are times when the building shakes violently out of nowhere. I asked the front desk, and they said it "just happens" and has no idea what it is. People thought it was an earthquake. Only redeeming factor is the large windows that let in sunlight and the location on Lake is close to restaurants that you can walk to. But since parking is only 2 hours, you'll have to pay to park here after the 2 hour mark. I tried to cancel multiple times now, but the manager is "on vacation" or is only available from M-F 9-5, which is when most people are at work. You cannot cancel on the phone, and they make it as difficult as possible. Shady and predatory practices. read more

this is for the pasadena location by Trader joes . I had a very disappointing experience with this gym. I initially signed up for a trial, but the salesperson pressured me into signing up for a membership, assuring me that I had five days to cancel if I changed my mind. However, when I attempted to cancel, I discovered that the process was incredibly inconvenient. Cancellations can only be done in person between 9 AM and 5 PM or by speaking with a manager--who was unavailable when I visited, despite staff being present and seemingly unoccupied. Additionally, phone calls went unanswered, making it even more frustrating. The classes were not engaging, and overall, the service felt unprofessional. To make matters worse, I was quoted $49 but was charged $119 instead. I have been trying to resolve this issue since the third day of my membership with no success. This experience has been frustrating and unprofessional, and I would not recommend this gym to others. If you're considering joining, be aware of their cancellation policies and unclear pricing. The manager will never see you i tried calling multiple times no answear i had to just call my AMEX and dispute the charges . read more

This gym has 3 stories, covered and validated parking, and an aerobics room. The machines are good with lots of cardio options. They could include more weight training machines though. They have 1-2 of each. During rush hour there are a lot of people and hard to get the ones you want. They have personal training there as well. read more
