I've been a member since April 2023. Very clean gym. Machines are well maintained. Staff is very friendly...always a hello when you come in...and a have a great day when you leave. I'm rating four stars vs five because one day recently the music was blaring to the point I could not hear my own music through my AirPods even tho I had the volume turned all the way up. I asked the employee at the desk to see if she could turn it down, and she said only a manager could adjust the music, and there wasn't a manager there. When I left, the manager was at the desk, so I asked her about the music, and she said nobody told her there was a problem. She told me she would check and see if someone had accidentally changed the standard settings...but by then, I was on my way out. I did report the issue on the company website, and checked off the "yes, I would like someone to get back to me" option, but nobody responded back to me. Driving up the day of Thanksgiving, gotta prep myself for the pumpkin pie that I'll be battling my sister over with. Not gonna lie, I was impressed that this location is a stand alone, completely alone its own building. Not that I haven't seen those before, but it's pretty rare. Anyway, I arrived when it's still pretty dark out, but the parking lot was well lit so that really helped with my anxiety. I walk in, get signed in, and look around. A quick overlook and it's a well lit space with plenty of cleaning spray bottles, a variety of equipment, and looked pretty clean. Going into the lockers room was nicer than I expected. Clean floors, no off putting odor, bathrooms actually closed without that awkward gap and much taller for those vertical blessed people, and showers looked clean. Once on the floor, I didn't see much of anything out of place. Dumbbells were racked, the changing pull bars were also racked, those small added weights were on their posts, nothing was on the floor. All mats were hung, kettlebells and of the sort were on their rack, and no broken equipment. It was beautiful. My only con is the hours open on the weekends. The hours are 7am-7pm, which is reasonable, but I know some people like to go earlier in the morning and some go later at night. Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with this location. My husband & I are Black Card members since the Plainfield location first opened. For at least the last year it seems that every other week at least 1 or 2 of the Hydro Massage beds are "down". When we pay the extra money for the Black Card it's very frustrating to go in and not be able to count on those beds being operational. Whether you need to have someone doing "regular" maintenance to keep them operational or at the very least we shouldn't have to be waiting a week or more for them to be fixed. Today 2 out of the 3 beds were not working! Planet Fitness, you need to get this under control! read more

This location is disgusting. I've been a member of Planet Fitness since 2013. I travel around the country and go to many locations all over the country. Planet Fitness is an excellent run company. This negative review does not reflect my opinion on Planet Fitness. It is solely on this location.They are all normally very clean and well run. I've been at this Plainfield location for years now. I tried to explain to this manager about the concerns that me and other customers have said. I told the manager of the issues with the weights and the issue about many members not wiping down the equipment after using it. I am writing this review to let others know the way that Darcy the manager takes care of dirty equipment at this location. I've been to many P.F. locations across the country and have not seen it as bad as this. At this location there are soooo many guests that don't wipe down the machines, hydromassage beds, and massage chairs. Many times I wait for someone to finish and they simply walk away from the bed leaving it glissening with sweat. I know for a fact that you can get RINGWORM from sweat on an uncleaned surface. Sooo gross. I've heard of other facilities other than P.F. gyms that have hydromassage beds wait for the member to finish there use of the bed, then after they are complete, they wipe bed down before another member uses bed. The weights on the leg press and other bench machines are scattered about. The guests should put them back, but they don't. It's the employees and management's job to keep them in place. I've discussed these issues with other people at the gym, and they've all said they've told Darcy about the guests not cleaning the machines and beds. People also sit on their phone keeping guest off a machine they want to use, if another isn't available because there's only one of that machine and nothing gets done. Put up more signs, and maybe larger signs. This used to be a better managed location. It's ashame to see it slip. Update: I went to my new P.F and what did I see. Everyone wiping down equipment and EVEN WIPING DOWN THE TANNING BEDS AFTER USE! I haven't seen that being done at Plainfield location in quite some time. read more

We like this gym a lot. Staff are friendly and cleaning frequently. I was pleasantly surprised to see them actually clean the top of the machines as well as underneath; I also saw staff clean up some trash outside as well. We also appreciate the readily available disinfectant sprays and towels. I've been to several gyms (XSport, Crunch, our clubhouse, Anytime Fitness, Rush-Copley) and none are close to the level of cleanliness that this Planet Fitness displays. The music can be loud at times but it does drown out some annoying conversations. I do wish they would get rid of the 30 minute workout area. I've never seen anyone actually do a 30 minute work. The area should be converted into an enclosed boxing area with kicking bags and maybe speed bags as well. read more

I am not sure what there is not to LIKE or LOVE at Planet Fitness. In the past 7 years at some point I have been a member at: PF, LA Fitness, XSport, Cardinal, and Lifetime. I think they all serve the same purpose- help an individual get back into shape. Now the real question is, how much does an individual want to spend? I am a firm believer that once you train your mind to get fit, any gym can help. Planet Fitness has had a huge, beautiful face lift and I am here to appreciate it. I opted for the PF Black Card membership $21/month rate. This includes accessibility to all PF nationwide, unlimited use of the tan salon (not sure the credibility of it), red light therapy (something many gyms will hop on soon), massage chairs, hydro massage beds (perfect after a workout), unlimited 30 min training classes, free WiFi (nope, its not free if you pay Classic Membership $10/month) Those are all the reasons that I go there. Muscle heads joke about the "lunk" alarm. Honestly, if you are living to just grunt at gyms-go to XSport. I think it's imperative to help newbies feel comfortable at the gym and most people don't feel that with all that grunting muscle heads around them. The staff are not the most knowledgeable to be honest (I asked a staff if I could dim the light in the hydro massage area-she said, "I don't know how to..I don't think it does"..well I turned it off my self and showed her lol ) but overall, for the price, the 24/7 accessibility, and the face lift, $21/month is a steal! The management at this club SUCKS!! Darcy does NOT care about fixing the problem with the tanning beds. I informed her in January of 2021 and they're STILL BROKEN!! This is mind blowing. I have video proof of every single bed shutting off early all on its own and they STILL won't call the bed repair company to come out and fix it! I've contacted the regional manager Gabby as well and she doesn't care either! Instead of addressing and fixing the issue they chose to ignore this ongoing issue. Who else finds it difficult to try to cancel or put their membership on hold during Covid 19? They reduce the hours from 24 hours but still want to charge everyone the same price especially knowing some people are compromised and should not be at the gym. When I called to cancel I either have to go into the gym or send a certified letter. That makes no sense if they have an app that has all your personal information why can't you cancel or pause your membership from the app? I would be even willing to downgrade from the black card membership for $23 a month to the regular for $10 a month because I'm not comfortable going to a gym with covid 19 still in the mist. The sad part is when I signed up for this my husband was hospitalized and then covid hit and I never use the membership once. I find the staff to be helpful and resourceful. The gym is clean and new with plenty of locker space. Even when busy, much equipment to keep you busy. TVs everywhere when doing cardio. The black card amenities are plentiful and lastly it is quite a bargain. Open and staffed 24 hours, no excuse not to get to the gym. read more

Clean facility. Just sucks that you can't use all the equipment due to their trainers (something they don't mention on the tour). These trainers take up a huge piece of equipment and have only one or two class participants. Meanwhile, when there isn't a class in session (which is rare on weekday mornings), there are at least a half-dozen members using the equipment. I had to call to freeze my account why can't I do this online? Another member expressed their frustration about canceling and you post a link that doesn't solve her frustrations during this pandemic. You are a big box company and could extend consideration to your customers in this difficult time by changing your cancellation policy to make people safe that they don't have to come in or jump hoops with a certified letter. I love Planet Fitness as a company and a workout environment but the Plainfield, IL. Location is not that welcoming of a situation before I go on, I want to clarify that the majority of the staff is excellent and the gym is clean. So, what's the problem? Every time I enter this particular location I receive judgemental stares and questions. I believe the issues are related to me being an Afro-Latino (Cuban-American) with a very Hispanic first and last name yet; I do not fit the profile of what the employees associate the physical characteristics of a Latino male should exemplify or represent. I have been asked to spell my name three times after providing my phone number (when I am without my key fob). I receive contorted facial expressions when my name pops up on the screen. After spelling my name, I have been asked, "What's is your name again? Are you sure?" Employees look at themselves and ask one another, "Do you think this is correct?" I have been asked, "Where did I initially sign up?" I am questioned about my ability to have a Black Membership via Silver Sneakers; a Blue Cross and Blue a health program. How was I able to enter various clubs across the country when I travel, without a challenge to me enter G the facility. There is always a pause when I do enter the gym with my card as the person reads my profile, a stare, and then a fake smile. I can see the nervous disposition of the desk clerk. The amazing thing, I'm never given an explanation why I'm bring questioned or what's wing with my membership. It's a shame such a new and clean facility has to be slightly tainted by a couple of individuals. read more

Great gym and awesome staff, for the most part. The manager Bobby is the problem though. He makes members uncomfortable on a regular basis and is very obnoxious. From what I heard he was not well liked at his last gym either and has sexual harassment warnings (again just from what I've heard but would not surprise me base off of the way he acts here). He also very often takes up the entire seating area in the black car spa which is an amenity given to us when we pay for our monthly black card membership. The gym would be a 5 star gym with amazing staff without him but he is a very inconsiderate and odd person to be around. read more

I am so glad that I did! The staff is amazing, the place is super clean, and there is a lot of variety of workout equipment. I went into the bathroom and there were fresh flowers in there. Avoid this location..due to the Covid 19 ,they closed down ,then they reopened again but without any notice..when I drove by Maynard ,I saw some cars parked outside then I realized this fitness was reopened again..I cancelled the membership in person due to Covid 19,they told me I owed $6.60 for the prorated membership fee ,eventhough I was not informed when they did reopen ,I paid n cancelled the membership due to Covid 19 ..I have the cancellation form in hand stating zero balance..2 weeks later they charged my credit again for $10 ,I called the manager Miss Darcy n asked her why n demanded the refunded ,she was so rude n just told me it was the late charge for not having 7 days notice..what a joke??miss Darcy ,train yr staffs and tell them about this late charge fee if this does exist..the front staffs has to explain to the customers in case they cancel the membership..u guys cannot charge the people whenever u guys like because u have their credit cards on filed..avoid this location .. read more
