We have noticed a big improvement, especially in the men's locker room, which had previously had an unpleasant odor. That has completely changed! This place isn't bad, but the staff is completely disrespectful. I honestly do not understand who raised these people, it's hit or miss. I called today after the snowstorm and said to the guy that answered the phone, "Hi, I was just calling to see if you were open, I guess you are, He said really quickly yea, and as I was saying tha... I like this gym more than my home gym in Hampton Bays because it seems much bigger and less crowded except for the fact I don't dare shower there because the bathroom is totally disgusting and for the past 3 days in a row the same piece of gum is sitting on the urinal not to mention the same trash in the urinals for days??? I can't believe how grimy it is and makes me wonder what other responsibilities are being neglected. GROSS! Please tell me how often the bathrooms should be cleaned. Once a week? I've been coming here for a few years now, and I have to say that this is probably the best gym I've ever been to. The gym is always clean and you see the staff daily walking around cleaning, dusting and mopping and making sure everything is perfect If the machine is broken it fixed within a day or two. I belong to other gyms which I will not mention and those gyms are filthy. I have broken equipment for days and weeks. Even other planet fitness is they've gone to some of them are filthy. Jeremy, the manager here and his team are amazing. The owner of this location should know how amazing this team does and I hope he's very thankful. Even when you walk in, they all reach you and when you leave, they say goodbye. It's a very personable, gym and they make the atmosphere very comfortable. read more

So one month update since the last review. The issues like the broken front door and broken machines have been addressed. Seems like I'm well known at the gym whenever I come in. The staff seems to make a conscious effort to clean all round me whenever I'm there. Which is great. The challenge now is for the team to keep up the great work, keep a consistent cleaning and maintaining schedule daily to keep the upkeep of the gym. Cleanliness: A Equipment: C+ Staff: C Price:A Overall Rating: B Cleanliness -This is a spotless gym and I'm not sure if its because PF stays on top of things like that or they just attract very clean clients. I always see a staff member wiping something down and even the gym goers all seem to clean up after themselves which doesn't happen at other gyms I visit. Equipment -If you love yourself some cardio then this is the gym for you. If you are trying to build muscle, well you'll still find what you need but not a lot of it and probably not as much variety as if you went to LA Fitness or Golds. Staff -The staff isn't bad per say, but a lot of them are very disinterested and disengaged. Clearly you don't go to the gym to socialize, but it would be nice when you say hi and bye to the person at the front desk for them to respond. I've come across several very friendly staff members, but more of them than not just don't seem to want to be there. Price For the price that they charge (10 dollars a month for a simple members, 20 for Black card) I can't really complain about this gym. Yes, I wish it had more but then it would cost more. Overall This isn't a great gym but its a good gym. I wouldn't get rid of my other gym membership but PF is located close to my house and its a nice place for me to go on my cardio days. read more

Miss seeing farm girl behind the counter even though she made me soil my pampers when I saw her cleaning out the men's lockerroom one time when I walked in. Little upset the big guy with 6 girls that come with him took her from me though! Also wasn't happy when I got slapped in the face with a slice of pizza while I was pumping iron trying to get large and in charge, but afterwards I kind of liked it! Thumbs up read more

This has to be the worst PF on Long Island. The location is brand new and already dirtier than the others. I never see any staff cleaning, instead they hang out in front desk with their friends. I did see one empty the trash one time though. I had to ask a staff member to please tell a guy to put mask on and seems they really don't want to enforce this. Riverhead is a hot spot for Covid and you would think the staff would care more. I understand the clientele is somewhat ghetto compared to other locations. I have seen numerous guys smoking vaps in the locker room and in the workout areas the members dont clean equipment like other locations. This location should take pointers from rocky point,they have things in line and area always cleaning during the day. In a good note the few staff I talked to seemed nice ,they are just lazy. If Covid gets worse and they close gyms again they will have wished they still had a job. Wake up folks. read more

I like the gym and the staff is nice, but I wish the staff would walk around and address/enforce some rules so that everyone is respected. (1) Supersetting esp. during busy times, should not be allowed, it should be one machine at a time, (2) Blasting personal music in the Functional Room, making it impossible to even hear the Planet Fitness music, and focus on exercising, (3) People should not be laying on mats in front of the TRX area, preventing others from using the station. I am hoping that writing this will bring about some changes! read more

Got a free day pass to try this gym out and thank god it was free. This place grossed me out. Everything seemed dirty and I didn't even receive the usual tour that is common when trying out a new gym. Why weren't there any normal squat racks??? Definitely will not be coming back. read more

Staff got much much better from past reviews. The old manager was nothing but nasty shed waddle around with a puss on her face all the time and wouldn't even say a word to you if would say hi or bye. For me this place is great lots of cardio and weights. For the body builder type this place probably wouldn't suit your needs there are very little amounts of free weights here. Overall for the average person looking to get some cardio and a bit of weight lifting in you can't beat here it's always extremely clean as well! read more

I have been a member of PF for many years. Because I travel quite a bit, I found that this was the best for my needs as I can find PF in most cities. My home gym (Nashville, TN on Nolensville Pike) has gone down hill over the past year or so. It has changed management numerous times and I find that new management pays attention to detail like cleanliness and friendly staff for the first few weeks then it goes to hell. I have made mention to the different management staff about things like trash, filthy bathrooms, equipment in poor repair, etc. and I get a very anemic response. The bathrooms on the weekend are so dirty that rats wouldn't even go in. The dust build-up on and around equipment is horrible. The staff tends to gather around the main desk and do not walk around even during the busiest times to check trash, towels dispensers, etc. There is always dumbbells in other areas of the gym (yes, members should put them back...but they don't). The "cleaning stations" are not in convenient places and certainly not enough of them. The equipment was replaced about a 1.5 years ago which was great but things are not kept up. The place is usually busy through the week but I typically only see 2 sometimes 3 staff members. They sit on the counters and more attentive to each other than to the clients. This location is the most convenient to me but I have found myself driving another 20 minutes in the other direction so I can go to a clean PF. I have been to 3 PF's in Manhattan and they are close to spotless. My favorite in in the Atlanta suburb of Alpharetta...always clean and equipment inf good repair. I would think that the owner of this franscised PF would be held to the high standards and the club should be run like the others. Unfortunately this is not the case. In summary, PF offers what I need at a great price. When the facility is clean and equipment is maintained, it is a great lace. Unfortunately this location is at the bottom of the chain. read more

Planet fitness always a dependable location for a decent work out and the fact that Riverhead actually decided to close down the dingy warehouse and open up a fresh new facility he's probably in their best interest. Yes in X gym rat like myself probably preferred that dark there steroids in one of the locker room vives but I digress. Let's talk about the new planet fitness in Riverhead located right next to target. I feel like planet fitness across-the-board can't be rated more than four stars unfortunately it's a no fault of their own they advertised as a fitness club and not a gym and you need to understand when you sign up to planet that you're signing up to a fitness club which is more about conditioning and getting your body in well-rounded tone physical fitness. I will always keep my planet membership because when I'm on a business trip Or meeting my friends in a few hours for dinner to avoid the hassle of bumper-to-bumper traffic or Any other obstacle impeding my work out I can just pop in to any location at any time. The new Riverhead planet fitness specifically. I'm not sure of the foundation and franchising costs of a planet fitness does the corporation provide any assistance? I wonder why after a massive sports authority would close down planet fitness would sign a lease to only take half of the property. I'm sure the rent is not cheap however especially during times of Covid there is a line outside the door every single night. Now during Covid I built a gym in my garage so if I see a line I turn around and leave but I feel like there's a pretty simple business opportunity to force your customers to upgrade or give them the opportunity better yet. I just left a 45 minute workout I try and keep my workouts brief while I'm at that location because it's ridiculous that every single day I walk out of the gym and there is a line past the other set of doors. This message is more meant for The management and owner but I have a few thoughts please contact me so we can discuss how to potentially increase your attendance or the overall happiness of your gym goers instead of having them waiting out in the line during any number of these pouring rain storms nor'easter's or general snow storms of 2021 have yourself a great day read more

Cockroaches. This is the second time I'm seeing them. How hard is it to get a well used place clean? This gym has become disappointingly gross. The staff sits around-over staffed and doesn't check supplies or toilet paper. Make a checklist! There's no enforcement of putting weights away in the evening. This has to be the grossest planet fitness I've been to so far. Bathroom and locker rooms are gross. Same poop stains have been on the toilet for about a week now. Very rude staff, who can't be bothered to say hello, or look up from they're phones. Basically anyone could walk in without a membership and the staff wouldn't even notice. Too busy on they're phones. and about 75% of men that use the restroom don't wash they're hands. Let alone wipe down equipment after use. The floors fee like they are are cleaned every 6 months in the stretching area. Some people feels it's there right to take up 3-4 machines at one time like they own the place. Clean gym with tons of equipment, but It would be nice if the two men behind the desk acknowledged us when we came in and left instead of staying on their phones the entire time. Would also be nice if they didn't laugh at us when we asked for tokens for the massage chairs. I would come back solely for the equipment, but not the customer service. I visited this location yesterday morning. I travel often and I can say by far this was the dirtiest Planet Fitness I've ever visited. The bathrooms were filthy, as well as the floors throughout the gym was littered with paper. No front desk staff when I walked in just an empty desk. The staff here is no longer as friendly or helpful as they used to be. They are cliquey, and frankly, judgemental--not like they club's motto. The facilities are relatively clean, and there are plenty of machines--but the connections to the tvs--the channel switchers and the radios are getting overused, broken, and not working as well as they did in the beginning. The new water filter is great, but the staff needs to be trained better and be friendlier--no matter what kind of day they're having. If it weren't for the price, and the fact I've committed for a year, I would go elsewhere. read more

If I could put 0 stars I would. I used the gym once and could not use it because I was diagnosed with a type of hemophilia and have life threatening bleeding episodes. I also live 20 miles away. They were cool at first said to bring a note to freeze the account. I wanted to cancel but told me my to freeze the account until it was up today on Tuesday January 16 and I had to physically come back on Tuesday January 16 to cancel. When I got there the guy refused to cancel the account without paying the $50 fee. Even with a medical disability. They don't care about anyone they are cold. I already paid over $200 for something I could not use. They wouldn't even get the manager for me. The one who said to come in on the 16th. She apparently was in a meeting for 2 hours. I can't believe they told me to come in today! And I confirmed it with them at-least three times on the phone. Here is the message from Deanna confirming that Danielle said to come in today. I brought my kids out in the cold and they lied and played games with me. They looked like they enjoyed it. Refused to give me a copy of my contract and told me to call corporate. This is the transcription of the message; "Hi this message is for _⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_ um this is Deanna I'm calling from planet fitness _⁠_ Riverhead you called this morning regarding _⁠_ not renewing the membership on the 16th so I talked to Danielle the manager here and um unfortunately you can't come in before the 16th um because if you come in before they're going to charge you with a $50 if there's a $50 cancellation fee so if you can just really get here if you can get here on the 16th um you know not before because I don't want you to have to pay that fee um you know that would be great so the 16th so that's Tuesday OK and again um if you want to talk to the manager herself her name is Danielle OK thanks bye..." read more

They told my after they charge me all the fees to sign up it would only be $10 a month. After one month fee of $10, the next month the charge mt the $39 annual fee. I've only been going for 3 months and I hate this place. They will keep taking your money. BEWARE signing up with them because they will try to take every penny you have. I have utilized many different locations for planet fitness and think that the Riverhead location is excellent. Bought my daughter a membership here, she hardly ever went so when they took the 39$ annual fee I called the same day and explained the sitch, the lady said to come down, she went there the following morning and was told too bad we have to keep your money , really ?then why insist that she go there. She's a single mom with two little ones and has lots to do without running down there to be told your beat . It's bad business and a lousy way to treat paying customers. read more

Their customer service is awful. I joined the gym because my parents lived in Jamesport and I went back East a lot to visit my mother as much as I could because she was dying of cancer. (I live in LA) She sadly passed away a few months ago and my father has been visiting family in Florida so I decided to cancel my membership. To cancel they require a written letter sent by certified mail. Absolutely ridiculous!!! For a gym membership!!! Correspondence with credit card companies don't even require this. Oh and it also cost me $3.94 to send this letter and time it took from my day waiting in line 10 people deep was absurd. I wonder if they happen to know about this great new thing called email. I also just discovered they just charged me a $29 yearly membership fee plus the monthly $10. When I signed up they described it as an initiation fee and never said it was a yearly fee and told me it would be much cheaper for me to just pay the $10 monthly fees since I was signing up and joining every time I visited and then cancelled before I left for LA. (of course I am sure this yearly fee is buried somewhere in the contract written in tiny font but would have been nice if they would have disclosed that.) If they would have been more accommodating and allowed me to cancel my membership over the phone or email I would have did as I have gladly joined for only the week I would be visiting my father next time I went home. I will be finding another gym when I go back. Of course when I spoke to the manager and explained my situation her reply was "rules are rules". Thank you Planet Fitness. Great job. read more
