30 minute room is full of high school students Some spend 30 minutes or more sitting and just checking their iPhone ; large groups come in and monopolize the biceps machine- several sit on the equipment and watch. They do not clean the equipment when they leave. Others are just very rude. Some were saying "watch this, grandma !" As they monopolize the bicep machine. Another tried to force someone off a machine when there were 7 other stations that they hadn't used yet. They placed their face very close to their intended victim when they made this request. Germs. They then complained about how well the person washed down the equipment. They started r"cleaning with a theatrically concerned look on their face. Good luck with rat boy. You gained one membership and lost 3. The staff does little to nothing to control the behavior of these people. Someone tore their rotator cuff tripping over the rug lumps that get caught in the door. Don't spend your money here -virtually any other Planet fitness is better than this one and they do not have rude and neglectful staff. Cannot possibly discuss this with your staff, situation was too humiliating. Have not entered your establishment for 3 months and will not return. read more

I just joined having moved from my old gym. This gym has all I need: free weights, treadmills and bikes. And for $10 a month, you can't top that. --- The place has only been open a year, so all the equipment is in top shape. Few things missing - for example - the wi-fi is down today. Some bulbs are out in one of the light booths. I didn't notice any clocks on the walls, until I noticed the one giant one, which wasn't working. For such a nice looking place, they should be on simple fixes like those. --- I used to belong to Planet Fitness ages ago. In the dark ages. They've come a long way. The only thing missing here is dumbbells over 75lbs and a free standing chess press (they do have smith machines). I also wish the treadmills and bikes had their own screens with internet access. But - $10 a month - I'll live. -- Update: internet is working, and it is so fast I nearly fell off my bench!!! Like, crazy fast! Thumbs up guys!! The gym is super clean. So far I've belonged to the this PF for about a month and the staff is always kind. All of the machines have worked and today they were doing a deep clean of the place. It's the most convenient location for me and I have always been able to get to the equipment I need in the morning around 9, afternoon around 3, and I've been once after 5pm. read more

BEWARE! I cancelled my membership on March 17th and then they charged me for another month on March 19th. Thinking it was a simple error, I called them, but to my astonishment, they said they had to charge me another month. They are now blocked from my bank account. As far as planet fitness locations go this one is as good as the next really. They do not offer the haircut service which is one of the big selling points in the area so that is kind of a downer. They do have tanning booths and massage booths so after you get your melanoma treatment you can at least feel relaxed about it. The equipment is all in great shape since it is new. Also, this location is a two story setup so you can workout either in the downstairs which is kinda cool since the ceiling is open and vaulted or you could head upstairs and be a little more cozy. read more

So I am pretty honest when it comes to gym reviews. As a runner I primarily focus on the treadmills and their functionality. Primary because at speed if it's not balanced right or there are tread issues, it can really hurt someone. I also use the free weights, but I am not much of a machine person for lifting. With that out of the way I'll begin my thoughts. PF in Townsend is by far the worst PF in the area. Yes I have been to others and have reviewed them. Let's look at why I feel this way. #1 Lack of maintenance on their equipment. The treadmills are atrocious, grooved, sloppy and the motors are worn so the do that momentary pause which makes your heart stop as you envision yourself falling and getting belt burn. #2 Dirty. I hate nothing more than going down to do a push up and literally having to wipe the floor of all the dirt and rocks. I have been there at all different hours and no one does regular continuous cleaning. #3 Lazy staff. A direct correlation to #2, all they do is sit behind the desk on their phones playing candy crush or something. You got time to lean, you got time to clean. #4 Poorly managed. How can I say this? Your honor my I submit evidence #1, #2 and #3. It'a obvious the franchise owner either doesn't care or is absentee expecting someone else to run their business while they sit back and collect the royalties. Bad management and ownership = bad gym. Although this is currently my primary gym, they have failed to keep me as a customer and I will be transferring my membership to the Leominster location. By far the best one in the area. They could learn a thing or two by taking a little drive and learning from these folks in Leominster. As of writing this I have made a personal decision never to go back to this facility. It is just that bad. I will manage the Fitchburg and Leominster traffic just to go some place that cares about the customer experience. read more

Having come from another gym in town, this has been a most welcome change. There are more than enough treadmills and elliptical machines, even on busy Monday nights. The staff is very friendly, and the Black Card Spa is a nice feature...especially the hydro massage beds. The water is cold and I like the bottle-filling faucet. Also, no 'Two-shoes policy,' which the other place was angrily strict about. Only small nits: Men's locker room a little small, and one of the TVs should be tuned to Fox News. read more

Love Planet Fitness in Townsend. Before it opened there was one alternative that was four times the cost with less equipment. Pleasant staff, clean facility, lots of equipment alternatives. I've been a member since it opened and am really happy with the convenience and low monthly cost. What would I like to see for improvements? I would NEVER go back! This is the third time I have gone to this location. They have an employee that takes over several areas of the gym shooting you tube videos of herself! This location is the most convenient for me but I will travel to Leominster! Employees on or off the clock should not be taking up valuable space to shoot videos on my time or anyone else's ! Most disappointed in the franchise/company handling of annual fees as related to COVID-19. Up and until the pandemic, the facility did a good job of providing wipes and disinfect solutions for members to use after working on each piece of equipment. There were members that didn't care to wipe down equipment and therefore staff wasn't 100% monitoring those inconsiderate members. With or without COVID, this made me uneasy. I joined in Feb2020. COVID hit in March 2020. Club closed down and reopened in July2020 with some equipment as we were told was roped off. I personally and at the advise of my primary care doctor felt in my best interest to not return to the gym until a vaccine is available. So I called to cancel my membership. In the meantime the annual fee hit. Explaining that I utilized the gym for no more than a month, asked for the ANNUAL fee to be waived or at least prorated and was flat out told NO. Calling corporate was a waste of time. The gym could not provide franchise owners info. Basically we are told sorry, not sorry. So at this time, when pandemic is contained, Planet will not be my go to gym. During these uncertain times, one would think that a reasonable accommodation would be made. You may disagree with my plea, that's okay. We are all entitled to our opinion. read more
