I am 71 years old and have untreatable cancer. Two months ago I decided to cancel my Planet Fitness membership because I had only gone 4 times since the start of 2024. I called them and was told that there was no need to cancel in person. The woman on the phone said that she would put the cancellation order thru immediately. She lied. I've been paying $26.67 a month for a service I barely used. I'm going to my bank as well as Planet Fitness this morning. If I need to cancel my checking account in order to put an end to this monthly theft, so be it. The VPN showed me as being in Canada. They are the "Budweiser" of fitness clubs - they are average at best & content with being so. Had to drop them down a star because of the following: 1. All new "low flow" showers. 2. No shower caddys? ‍ 3. The playlist on any given night consists of a medley of Rick James, Madonna, then onto Maroon 5, Adele...meh? Huh?! Nothing makes any sense. A schizophrenic must've put the set list together because its a god awful road to nowhere on any given night. Bring your earbuds. 4. WiFi is a joke. One bar if you're lucky. Practically nonexistent. 5. Most of the front desk staff really couldn't be bothered with you. I also think they should have the same gender employees assigned to clean the locker rooms. I normally wouldn't write a review about my gym, however given how far we've all come since last March I thought it was prudent. June 16th will mark one year since they reopened from the Covid shutdown. Ownership, management, and the staff have done a very good job, especially the early morning staff. They do a great job enforcing proper mask wearing and they always ensure there is plenty of hand sanitizer. They are also the most friendly. Dealing with limited treadmills and machines can sometimes be challenging, but most people understand and alter their workouts accordingly. We'll all get back to normal sooner than later, and this gym has done a great job through it all given the circumstances. read more

Not sure what the complaints are about but during this COVID time I was pleasantly surprised by the social distancing and wearing masks and general state of the gym. I thought the employees had gotten better with talking and actually being respectful to customers but boy was I wrong. I was met by an employee who tried to intimidate me and claimed I was training a client, although she was just my friend from school that had no gym experience. The employee berated and got in my personal space, *this is during covid*. The place IS clean, the music is absolutely terrible but has gotten a little better. This isn't the only disrespectful and intimidating reaction though, this place has a reputation for being rude. Really negative experience here on Saturday. Below expectation customer service, a lot of rigidity and frankly think they were wrong. I arrived at 6pm, gym closed at 7pm, with a friend trying to use my black card to get us in. They informed us that as my friend had a local PF membership they'd have to pay to get in vs. being my guest. I flagged we didn't know, have gotten into other gyms without ever being stopped, and asked if there was any way around it. Zero empathy was shown, no flexibility, basically no. Then drove to Shelton and got right in. Later reached out to my home gym and they believed this policy shouldn't restrict those from other planet fitness gyms. Laughed because that essentially means if you go to cardio express I can bring you to PF everytime I go but if you go to PF I can't. Overall I won't go back, even if alone, moreso as I don't agree with the treatment. read more

The staff at PF needs to realize that the customer comes first. If a complaint is made, there needs not be a manager who would rather listen, than argue pointing out the faults of the client as a defense. Listening to attitude and belligerence is not customer service, nor is hearing a staff member being vocally disciplined in front of clients. The place is clean due to one staffer who goes above and beyond. However, do not try to voice a concern or a problem. You will be met with hostility and a verbal berating from management. They advertise their closing time and rush you out before closing so they could leave out sooner I think that's so unfair considering I'm paying for a good service . It seems this place is now censoring what we can view while doing cardio. Case in point... there are approximately 4 televisions with CNN being aired throughout the place, along with the traditional big network stations and ESPN, but for some strange reason the FOX News channel is literally turned off. When I asked why, I was told there was a "technical" issue causing the problem. Really, this is going on two weeks now? While my statement may sound a bit conspiratorial, it is strange that out of the 20 plus televisions they have hanging around in this place, only one is turned off... To whomever the Manger is, please do your job and restore ALL of the televisions to working order. read more

Hands down the worst fitness facility I have ever used! Staff is absolutely rude, dismissive and they couldn't be bothered with you at any time! Gym is dirty and smelly and the showers are dirty all the time. When I wanted to cancel I was told I have to come in person after the 23rd of December, so basically on Christmas night! They charged me 41$ on top the other 41$ for last year (2019), plus 10$ monthly fee, even though I would not be EVER using this facility. The manager was very rude to me and unfriendly, throwing the contract in my face and suggesting I should have read it. When I asked to speak with the Assistant Regional Manager - Danielle Horton - I was met with the same cold, rude attitude and told that 41$ was the "maintenance fee" and in the beginning I was told it is only 41$ annual fee, now it is 81$ actually that I wasn't told of. It is unbelievable you treat your customers like this in 2020! I would give it minus 5 starts if I could. Worse experience ever! read more

Unfortunately, I made the mistake of using this place instead of my home gym. What a mess. The gym is filthy, the locker rooms are a disgrace, and the people are there to hang out. I saw a girl in there using a electronic cigarette? ?!!! C'mon! Good luck trying getting inside without getting robbed by the people "chilling" in the parking lot or your car getting broken into. Decent gym friendly staff which is always amazing to have might I also add very rare. My girlfriend and I really appreciate the people who work here. One huge complaint, The Internet Ducking Sucks!!!!!! Please Fix!!!! It's always one excuse after another why it doesn't work. How can I work out without tunes in my ear? This location honestly sucks. The staff is very hit or miss in terms of attitude. They are always cleaning and it kind of drives me nuts because it's not necessary and they will vacuum and dust machines people are using. While they are vacuuming nothing, the water fountains always have mildew on them. Always. They play Spotify over the speakers and haven't even upgraded to commercial free so you get to hear commercials regularly. Myself and friends have been harassed about "personal training" not being allowed when one of us is helping the other but I see frequently Caucasian guests doing this with no problem. There are also massive potholes now in the parking lot that have yet to be addressed. It is also pretty offputting that management responses to bad reviews here have instructed people to reach out to management instead of offering a solution or saying they will tell management themselves to fix the problem. read more

Well i hate to do this, but unfortunetly the higher ups in planet fitness corporate offices decided that the customers here no longer need weight benches or free weights to work out with! I had the unpleasant surprise of finding this out when i came back last week and over the weekend they took away all of the free wieghts. The "regional" manager said it was never Planet Fitness' model to have that type of equipment and that i should give it a chance and i would get used to the new machines they have in their place.. I didn't and terminated my membership along with a ton of other people there. I looked around today and all i saw was very old people who looked like then were in a rehab center rather than a fitness one. Also i had to pay for the month of October because of some 30 day billing cycle hog wash.. eh whatever! So if you go, and their is no one there except for the old and feeble, everyone else went to the edge where they give the PEOPLE what they want. Sorry PF corporate made a bone head move, and it may be too late for them to get that fire back they once had. read more

Love it! Huge, 2 floors, TONS of equipment- you will barely wait, if ever, for the machine you desire. The tanning is excellent. The staff is friendly when they decide to be but it's not like you're there to socialize with them anyway. Definitely my favorite pf location. Only downfall- there is no wifi. There is spotty wifi here and there but barely any 3G or LTE for pandora or online use. Other than that I would definitely suggest it. Good for guests as well! read more

Staff is excellent. They are always on the go. This is by far the cleanest gym I've been to in the area and I've been a member of several other chains in Connecticut. You walk into this gym and will immediately notice a great air flow. Not that I thought this would ever be so important, but to not walk into a gym and have the typical sweat smell-this really blows me away. Unlike other clubs it's not overly crowded and you're never fighting for a machine or free weights. For $10 a month it's a no-brainer. read more

I was a member for seven years, my son and I decided to get the black card. I was told that it would be OK if I came alone, my son did not have to come with me. After seven months I decided to go back to the gym, the customer service in the front tell me that whoever informed me that we did not have to come together was wrong and they can not honor what he told us. I decided to call my son to cancel The membership. Then he decided to downgrade just for him with the $10 and he was told that he would have to pay that start up fee again. There was no charge to upgrade but now there is a charge to downgrade. I guess I should've known that it was not a good place after my locker was broken into and money was taken out of my purse. I have had negative experiences with the staff on my last several visits, which is unusual for me. I've been a member at this gym for 11 years. Lately, the staff is rude, short with customers at the counter, don't say hello or goodbye, etc. The rules change, signs around the equipment are put up and taken down, and the staff is really short with if you haven't gotten the memo about a change. The gym is really clean, which I appreciate, but I think the staff needs to be reminded how to be more friendly with customers. read more

Let me just start by saying that the staff is always very courteous and kind. That is the only nice thing that I have to say about this gym. If it were not literally seconds away from where I am currently temporarily living, I would have immediately terminated my membership after moving here from New Haven. (The New Haven location, by the way, is infinitely better.) the facilities although they were a supposedly just remodeled, seem old and out dated. However, they are not any worse than any of the other PF locations in the area except for their wifi. I doubt that I am the only person who needs to listen to some type of music or podcast while I work out, yet at Planet Fitness Trumbull, this is almost an impossibility. I was hoping a new wifi system would be part of their recent upgrade, but all they did was create a separate managerial wifi account that I am sure works much better than the PF guest one. I usually just turn my wifi off entirely when I am there bc it's hopeless trying to connect to it aespecially by the cardio machines where I need it most. The area also has notoriously bad cell reception, so when ever I'm there, I spend half my workout getting frustrated that I pay this place $20 a month but can't listen to music while I run even if I'm using my own data. It's 2015. Almost every business offers wifi. The least they could do is give their paying customers a decent connection! read more

i'd say negative 5 stars. this is hands down the WORST pf location you could probably ever go to. i only go to this location because it is close to my home but after my last time there (just now) i will never be going back. i would rather drive the extra 10 minutes to another location than ever go back to be talked down to by the rotten staff that is there. very rude workers! they need to look for new employees and maybe i would consider going back. This is my #3 times joined this fitness in mid April this year. It's not that good but OK because of cheap membership. My first two times were based on $99 per year fix fee. This time they told me it's $10 per month plan and without commitment. But nobody ever told me when I signed the contract that there will be another $30+tax annual fee that I was charged just 6 weeks later on June 1st. Gee, this is the monthly plan so where this $30 'annual fee' comes from? Had I know there will be additional charge, I will not join in this time. I am asking the office to give me refund and then I will cancel my plan but their manager refused to do so. It's a cheating tactic to customers. read more

I have been coming to the Trumbull Planet Fitness for almost two years now and I have never seen a gym this refined and aesthetically pleasing. The minute you walk in the door you are greeted with kind, familiar faces who know you by name. The workers feel almost as a second family being that they truly care about everyone who walks through the door. They are always on top of there work making sure the equipment is well taken care of and never having even a spec of dust. Comfortability and a sense of being at home makes this gym worth signing up for. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a worthy gym experience. read more
