It is really interesting that people say in their reviews that the place is welcoming. I have been there 5 times and 3 of them nobody was at the front desk - which raises a security concern and also makes me think that non members can easily come in. When I signed up the front desk attendant was barely talking to me. When I tried to sign up for personal training they tried to sell me a 6 month membership program (that renew automatically and are difficult to cancel according to other reviews). I used the gym and noticed that they don't wipe the equipment after use. I spoke to a trainer and he didn't care. I have used the pool and enjoyed it. the sales rep at the Trumbull location are absolutely a joke. I got a 6 month membership for the PRT program (8-9 months ago for reference) for $165/month on top of paying $50 for the gym. anyways, they dont warn you that you have to go to them in person to "cancel" the PRT membership, even if the 6 months are up. therefore the charges are continuous. (it's in fine print but I feel like they should tell you this). anyways, i was told by my trainer that my 6 months are up in July and that would be my last billing cycle. august rolls around... I got charged $165. I go in person to ask for a refund and/or cancel the membership and the rep goes "I can't get you a refund because it'll look bad emailing the bosses this" but he reassured me I wouldnt get charged in September. I was honestly just like whatever and basically gave them a $165 freebie for the month but expected the charges and membership to be cancelled. well... now it's September and I got charged AGAIN. mind you... I texted him September 8 to remind him to cancel the membership... no response. after I got charged again, I contacted him multiple times and called the gym to get my money back and cancel my membership and again he's not cancelling or doing anything! oh by the way the scamming sales rep is named Angel for anyone who dealt with him. I'm getting scammed for months worth of money . this dude is 0/10 and will lie to your face. considering LA fitness just went through a law suit regarding how hard it is to cancel and get your money back, I'm surprised the people that work there are behaving like this. maybe another law suit should be in place. read more

I joined LA Fitness at the Trumbull, CT location in January 2024, primarily for access to the pool. Since becoming a member, the pool has been closed for repairs on three separate occasions; first for a couple of weeks, then for about a week, and now for what will amount to approximately two months if it reopens as scheduled at the end of February. In total, the pool has been unavailable for roughly 13 weeks over the past 13 months--about a quarter of the time. This level of disruption is simply unacceptable. To make matters worse, I contacted LA Fitness's corporate office last week, urging them to take immediate action to resolve the current closure and invest in long-term solutions to prevent such frequent and prolonged outages. Being a senior I need to keep exercising, so I joined LA Fitness. I've been a memeber at Planet Fitness but COVID hit. I have to admit, this LA Fitness in Trumbull...people DO NOT wipe down the machines after sweating over it! The staff doesn't seen to care either. 02/06/2024 I have been coming here now for three months, and there are pros and cons. While the pros outweigh the cons for me, I should note here-I pay $28 a month going through my insurance, and the gym is very close to my home. If I was going at full price, I might not be so forgiving. Pros: 1. Staff is lovely. Always friendly and engaging. 2. The place is pretty clean. 3. There is a wide array of equipment (some of which needs more TLC). Cons: 1. Many of the dumbbells disappeared during the pandemic. I am told that people stole them, and I see them just now being replaced, but they were gone for a very long time. 2. The place is poorly managed, and no one is actively walking the floor. This is why the dumbbells walked away. This is also why people do not rerack their weights, play music on a Bluetooth speaker competing with the overhead music, monopolize machines and dumbbells, set up tripods to film, bags on the floor, etc. I even had a group of three kids pass me vaping. Not fun when you are mid-lift. 3. PRT (in house personal training) took over an area so they have a "pay to play" program. Coulda used those weights for months while the club weights were missing. Of note-there is a personal trainer walking around all day, every day, taking up space as well. Nice guy, but this should stop as the place is not supposed to have personal trainers not on PRT. 4. The pool has been up and down several times in the three or so months I have been there, and the jacuzzi has been down more than it's been up. Literally down about 75% of the time, and has been for weeks at the time of this writing. The pool has been down too, but now back up, and they have introduced a swimming lesson program which takes up space that customers could be using. 5. The television is on in the locker room which competes with the music that's on in the locker room which completes with the conversations going on in the locker room. Why? 6. No WIFI. In this day and age, this is just ridiculous. I might also add, the gym is pretty large, and deep, so I get very little signal as I move further in. I spoke with general customer service, and a nice person named Esther fielded my call. I got some satisfaction there with a return of my annual, but I was told that a manager would call me to discuss my concerns. That has not happened. As I noted-nice staff, decent facility, I do not know if I would be coming in if not for the discount due to the insurance and the proximity to my home. Updated 07/22/2024 I need to note here how frustrating and disheartening it is to deal with LA Fitness. Aside from things rarely, if ever, getting attended to-(ie. people are taking pictures in the locker rooms in the mirror with no regard to other patrons states of undress, boom boxes are all over the gym, the weights still disappear, bags on the floor, etc.), we were sold a false bill of goods. My son had a medical issue. He was out for a bit and I went to cancel his membership. I was told by management that if I simply froze the account for three months we would receive a discount in perpetuity. We were told to wait until June 18th. We waited until June 26th. We got the discount for a one-month billing cycle, and then-we did not. When I called and got bounced around and disconnected for 45 minutes, I was told that they had sent my 14-year-old son an email informing him that he would not get the discount. That he needed to wait until June 29th. I cited that we had been told June 18th. They would not hear it. I reiterate here-if it were not for proximity I would not attend. We will probably cancel my son's membership. There is really no customer focus here. I was nice about it. I was respectful. I am told, regardless of the fact that I had been told June 18th, we will not get the discount. Terrible business practices. Terrible customer service. read more

I joined 6 months ago because I wanted to swim laps in their pool. The pool is kept at a cool, but comfortable temperature appropriate for lap swimming and the pool is always clean. However, the hot tub next to the pool is not always working and many times when it is, the water is just lukewarm. I have asked about it and been told that an outside contractor takes care of it. Not really a good excuse. The hot tub is used by many people other than swimmers. If an outside agency cannot manage the maintenance then find someone new. I joined a LA fitness and tried to schedule 2x with a personal trainer. First time trainer never showed up, next time trainer was late 20 min (on a 30 min appt). I attempted to cancel after my first failed session (within 3 days after signing) they talked me into staying. Now they are saying I can't cancel. I am having to spend time now on legal action and disputing with Cc company. Please be careful when you sign with these guy. They get very aggressive on calling for payments too. The building is in an absolute dead zone and it doesn't have an available WiFi network, so not only are you screwed if you like to watch streamed shows or movies on your tablet while you run, but you're also completely unreachable by the outside world. The locker rooms are downright miserable. I've seen high school locker rooms in better shape. The very day after my cancellation form was confirmed, they charged me for another month! Do yourself a favor and just don't bother with this place. It doesn't even deserve one star. read more

I have been going to this gym on and off for about 7 years (relocations out of state kept me out for some periods of time). I continue to maintain my membership due to convenience of location (minutes from my home) and their weekday hours. To simply put, the gym is poorly managed. This has been a consistent over the years despite the obvious changes with their team members and managers. I usually start very early in the morning and I can count on one hand how many times I've walked in to a tidy, organized gym. Generally it's a mess, with weights off the racks, all over the floor and throughout the gym. Not only is it super, super frustrating when you're on a time schedule, but it's hazardous. While many members lack gym etiquette (ie don't re-rack, clean up their sweat, etc), management does nothing to manage them or improve the quality or sanitary nature of the gym. I, along with others, have vocalized concerns to deaf ears. I recently had their current GM walk away from me when sharing honest, constructive feedback. It's not service or customer centric- it's revenue focused, your typical chain gym. Unless you're desperate for convenience like myself, do yourself a favor and take your business and workout elsewhere. read more

Then when I joined the membership, she told me the swimming pool would be open in a week, which is March 24. Then they told me the swimming pool will open in one or two weeks when every time I called them. Then it will be open in the end of June, the end of July, the end of August. I have been trying to reach out to some one to cancel my personal training or discuss other options available. Someone answers the phone and always tells me I have to speak to the personal training director who's always not available to talk to and I have to keep calling to make sure the person is available. It's absolutely not a good experience to keep a track of one persons availability and be charges for something that u don't wNt to use currently. I've been coming here for a while and the staff are pretty nice, the facilities are clean, and I feel safe, Covid-19 wise, for the most part. I started coming here during the pandemic so I'm not sure what it's like when not under social distancing measures but there's a pool, a hot tub, steam rooms, basketball court, yoga and bike studio, which is a pretty good deal for the cost. There's enough machines and benches, though at peak hours you might have to wait for something to open up if your looking for a bench or squat rack. Most importantly, to me, the bathrooms and locker rooms are always clean so that's very much appreciated. read more

I'm so happy I decided to join LA Fitness a couple months ago. I was nervous to even go back to the gym due to COVID but after walking through this gym and seeing how clean and well kept it is, I felt extremely comfortable and joined right away. There are cleaning solution stations & hand sanitizer everywhere, making it easy to clean the equipment. While I'm there, I even see the equipment being cleaned by a professional cleaning crew. The customer service at this location is amazing!!!! The employees, especially Kevin & Will, make me feel so welcome every time I'm there. I used to go to This location when It first opened but moved away. I was back in town today and decided to stop in to keep up with my training. It was just as clean and spacious as it was when it first opened. The staff is super friendly and William in membership was a true professional. They have everything AND there's always a free cardio machine. You have your pick from basketball courts to racket ball. We wanted to use the facility while in town and was told that while the normal guest fee is $15 per day/per person, he could work it out for $60 for both of us for the week. Received a call today that I was signed up for a recurring monthly membership of $69.99 with $25 initiation fee + first and last month due up front. My $60 payment was towards that and the remaing down pmt of $115.42 was deferred and currently due. - "When meeting your sales goals goes wrong" . Is one membership that will ultimately be terminated and refunded worth this type of publicity? Needless to say, I'll be on the phone with corporate, and placing my complaint with the BBB. read more

When I moved to the area, I was excited that there was a gym so close to my home. I joined before I even looked at LA, and I wish I didn't. I would say that at least a quarter of the cardio machines are broken. Some of the treadmills shake badly after bringing them up to a normal running pace, and a lot of the televisions are broken and they only offer 10 channels with sound only working on eight. I have commented multiple times about these issues and nobody really seems to care. One day after looking around for a simple foam roller, I asked where they were and I was told they were only for personal training clients, which I thought was ridiculous because it is a piece of foam, not a fancy machine. However, I was more angry when I saw a trainer using a foam roller in the stretching area a few days later for himself. The locker room setup isn't the best. Since it leads out to the pool there is always water on the floor and the bathrooms aren't always the cleanest. In addition, you just have to get used to the door to the pool slamming every time someone walks in and out. I haven't adjusted yet and every time this happens it drives me nuts! They have good equipment, but not enough. Any open ab machine is taken over by people who sit there for 20 minutes at a time. You would think for all of the arm machines they have, they could have swapped out a few more ab machines. My biggest issue with this gym is that I tend to get there late. Twice, I have left before closing and walked out into a completely dark parking lot, no lights at all. I understand the mall was closed, but safety should still be a priority. This should not happen. I have been to gyms all over New England and in busy cities, and I have never felt so unsafe leaving a gym. read more

Theres a pretty decent size parking lot. I like the Zumba class that they have to offer. A great instructor is MICHAEL and GLORIA. Those are the best that the gym has.. The gym doesn't have a high ceiling but its okay. It's all on one floor but has a pool, racquet ball, weight area, cycling, kids zone, cardio machines. The people all going in and out all seem really nice. The front desk workers are not all that nice.. There's like 2 that stick out like a sore thumb and ARE NOT pleasant to be around. They aren't happy, they look like they dont want to be there. They don't greet you or anything. The only biggest pro is the Zumba classes... I really enjoy those 2 amazing instructors...thats the only reason I go is for that.. read more

The Zumba classes (shout out to Gloria, Robin, Kassandra) are awesome. There's tons of equipment which is nice, and since it's a newer gym, I feel like everything is in good condition. The locker rooms are a decent size, and the sauna is nice. I wish they had towels on site, but it's not a big deal. I wish the class schedule was updated more frequently, and I always notice mistakes or lack of warning that a class is cancelled or has a sub. I had to call the front desk and tell them that a certain instructor wasn't going to show up because I found out from Facebook that she wasn't going to have class. The front desk said they didn't know anything about it the day of, which was disappointing. In the end, it all worked out because there was a sub that day, but still, nothing was indicated on the schedule that a sub would be there. This may not seem like a huge deal but some people are very loyal to certain instructors and would like to know in advance if someone else will be teaching. The staff is good, at least in my experience. Could be better (going off of other members' feedback). There was an issue a few months ago with a creepy LA Fitness member that the front desk staff managed to resolve right away when the issue was reported. Overall, good gym for the price. read more

LA Fitness is an excellent fitness club and most clubs I have been to do a great job. However LA Fitness in Trumbull's Manager Will Hernandez ruins this club. He takes no responsibility for broken fitness equipment, fuzzy or broken cable tv, and restrooms that need cleaning. Will Hernandez is more focused on getting your money and membership and not taking any responsibility for ensuring this club is up to the high standards of other LA Fitness Clubs in the area. If you are thinking of joining, LA Fitness I recommend you try the other LA Fitness clubs around the area in Norwalk, Stratford, and Milford Ct instead. I have started going to the other clubs instead of Trumbull. Much nicer, equipment working, clean, and more attentive management. read more

I went into LA fitness interested in possibly starting a membership and was instantly turned off by their sales team. I immediately got the impression that the sales person was trying to take advantage of me due to my young age. Talking to their sales team was like talking to a used car salesman. In the span of 5 minutes I was offered 3 different payment plans, each being proposed as a special deal, when in reality none of them were. If you are an average person without any sort or math or accounting background, they're going to take advantage of you. Completely unprofessional business tactics. read more

I signed up for LA Fitness Trumbull when they opened and have been happy with it. The club is spacious with adequate parking. I can always find an activity and overall I enjoy the gym. I have compared it to The Edge and found it superior. More activities, less crowded and more spacious. The music is not overwhelming. The staff has been helpful and friendly. However, the club could be cleaner. I am also a racquetball player. The courts were great when they opened but as it ages and the courts need repair, the repairs seem slow to come. I also wish they had more courts and did not give the racquetball league a hard time - which leads me to my major gripe. My complaint stems from the reservation system. It has no consequence. If you reserve a raquetball court and do not use the reservation there is no penalty. Many times I want to play but cannot reserve a court but when I go to the club to workout instead there are open courts. There needs to be a check-in system and penalties for when you blow off your reservation. It will help stop serial reservers who come when they feel like it and steal legit court time. Overall, I highly recommend LA Fitness. If they would only update the reservation system I'd be really happy! read more

Dose that mean j can bring my kids (8 years and 12 years) to use the pool for free? And also they bother the peoples who are using he pool. Poor management for this gym. This place is the health club version of the Hotel California, as in " you can check out ant time you like, but you can never leave." To understand what I mean by this, just try to cancel your membership. Getting them to stop running your credit card, month after month after month, will require either an act of congress, or in my case, reporting my credit card as stolen and getting a new credit card.
