This was my first time attending an appointment at this location and let me tell you to not get fooled by the pictures they have on Yelp. It does not look like that. Only the last picture of the outside. The entrance does not look welcoming, the waiting area needs more natural light and it looks dirty. I did not sit down bc this place does not look clean. The front desk Latina was too busy have a conversation with another employee about whatever and I had to wait 5minutes until she was done. It was for sure not related to work. Best PP location in San Jose!!! Easy to get an appointment. Wait times aren't too bad. The nicest staff. Nurses are so knowledgable. They always ask to make sure I'm okay. There are locations by where I live, but I will make the 20 minute drive here because I know how good they are. They usually always have what I need in stock, otherwise, they write me a prescription for my preferred pharmacy. Always felt comfortable coming here and will continue to come here. read more

I've had mixed experiences coming here multiple times. Some good, and some bad. My biggest criticism is that they run late frequently on my appointments. I've also had an issue recently with getting my blood drawn. I did switch my primary care physician to a doctor at this clinic. And for what I can do with Medi-cal. Ok. Two stars because the people were all very nice. And helpful. This place was absolutely filthy though. Like gross. I wish I would have taken a picture but when I got up from the exam table I noticed a DEAD roach on the floor. Usually roach would be the worst part of a sentence but it was dead dude. I was so disgusted. The room itself was dirty. Dirt literally caked up on the floors. I know they aren't well funded but I just got the heebie jeebies knowing I just had my naked butt on that table... Planned parenthood in West Oakland and East Oakland are both better than this... we're in the Silicon Valley man. Please do better. Don't think I'll be back to this location. I came here to ask help because of my lower body side is painful and when I go to the nearest planned parenthood they said they can't accommodate me. That's why I schedule an appointment and I got after 2weeks so I waited and when I got here l admit I'm late for 6mins to my 4pm appointment and they said they only accommodate 5mins late. I'm not mad but I just don't get it why they accommodate walk in and me has an appointment and late for 6mins they will not accommodate . Best far my best experience at a PP. #1 Timely and Efficient - this was the first time that I was seen within 15 minutes of my appointment time. #2 Very helpful and informative - I felt very informed about all my options and the different types of birth control #3 Great customer service - the PA Kelly Anne made me feel very comfortable the whole time and she's such a sweetheart. I come to this center once a year to pick up my birth control and every year it is the same. Rude check in lady who talks way too loud so everyone hears your business; and who constantly talks to her coworkers, ignoring you in the process or even forgetting you are there. Sat in the waiting room over 30 minutes after my appointment time. And maybe being inside of the room with a doctor or nurse for about 15 minutes to talk about family health history and health in general. First time at planned parenthood. Tried to get an appointment at several hospitals/clinics but was repeatedly put on hold for 30+ minutes then redirected where I was again put on hold. I made the appointment for PP online where you can see all the slots available for each day. I made the appointment a week in advance but could have been seen day of with the amount of available appointment times. The facility was clean, parking was abundant and the staff was amazing!! The receptionist was my first point of contact and she was both kind and discreet. Often, discretion is an afterthought, especially at the end of the day. However, this woman was the epitome of professionalism and made me feel very comfortable. The medical assistant who brought me back was very careful not to discuss my visit in the hallway which is much appreciated! Do be warned, you will have to give a urine sample when you first come back. It's protocol I wasn't aware of. Throughout the history intake, she was very personable and thorough without making me feel I was getting the 3rd degree. I have NEVER felt so comfortable at an appointment. Lastly, the nurse followed suit with her friendly manner and concise care. I would recommend this location with this staff to any male or female. Ive been to this clinic before, and ive always liked this location better than most because its cleaner and less crowded. Since im so high tech these days, i tend to book all appts online if its available. I booked an appt for this location a month ago, and i didnt receive a confirmation until 3 weeks later. If it were an emergency, i wouldve been in deep crapola by now. Lucky for me, it was just a check up. My appt was at 9:30am, so i arrived at 9:20..since there is always paperwork to be filled out. The girl at the window was very friendly and had me fill out the forms and wait. As soon as i finished, i was called in. I love when im seen on time. The nurse was also very friendly and informative. I saw the doc 10 min later and after my appt, they gave me some condoms...since PP is a free, they only ask for donations. I gave them $20. Normally, PP would give out alot of condoms...i even got a year's supply once...not that i need it...but im just sayin, its nice to have backups incase anyone i know needs it...So this time, thinking it would be the same, after donating $20, i realized i didnt get that many, and i know times are tough but safe sex is always more important!. So i called another PP asking if i could come by and get some more since i would be in the area, and they said its a walk in service and i can come get some anytime... NICE! (review on this next location is in process) I love how planned parenthood helps ppl who want to stay anonymous and make these services affordable.... I've been very impressed with the care I get at Planned Parenthood. In fact, I prefer coming here over my PCP. Yes, the expense has something to do with that. But I've gone to doctor's offices before (with an appointment) and sat waiting for an hour and a half and gotten crappy care. I've been to PP a handful of times now and I don't think my wait has EVER been that long, even when I don't have an appointment. The staff is friendly and nonjudgmental, yet informative. I feel respected, and while opinions vary, I don't feel I've ever been misled to do things a different way. They respect my choice of birth control, while the doctors elsewhere push hormones. I feel like I'm treated as a human, and cared for. I went in one time not feeling so well. The staff noticed my water was empty and offered to refill it for me. They answer my questions and fulfill my requests when they're able. I had an appointment this morning; I sat for maybe 5 minutes and was in and out entirely in under 50 minutes. This isn't your standard overloaded clinic..the staff keeps a smile on their face. AND - in case you didn't know - Planned Parenthood handles general medical issues, not just birth control related issues. It's close, it's cheap, it's quality care..this is my first stop location when feeling ill or for my regular checkups. read more

I was hesitated after reading all the negative reviews for this PPH location but I'm glad that I booked my appointment here. My experience was very great. I think they did a really good job for being understaffed and with all of the budget cut. Came in today for several examinations/ birth control shot, etc. The waiting time wasn't so long. The doctor/nurse/medical assistant that I met were helpful and informative. I don't have insurance at this time and was expecting to pay more than 100 bucks for the visit, but i ended up paying only 15$ for my urinary infection and none for my shot/pelvic exam/medication. Service was a joke. I don't care to write reviews on Yelp but I feel obligated to after today. Typically I go to the Concord Planned Parenthood and they've never charged me for service. Granted, I didn't have insurance at the time. I understand that I switched clinics and should be paying for service but before taking the client in, fees should be brought to the client's awareness. I was totally unaware of price. Anyway. I would've been fine with them not being informative and letting me go, but the blonde nurse... I've never encountered such shitty service in my life. I'm appalled at her rudeness. Right when I walked in, she didn't crack a smile or greet me, rushed through questions but in a manner that displayed impatience. I have no idea who she is and she has no idea who I am. Perhaps she had a bad day; I gave her the benefit of doubt initially. Although, I felt very uncomfortable I tried not to take it personal. But after consulting me on price, she goes on to shame me for voiding the service and deciding to wait for my insurance to come in. Rolled her eyes and said "what a waste." In my head, all I thought was "you must be joking." Learn to handle customer situations. Especially in a health care sector when people are coming in with sensitive situations. I'm extremely disappointed in the quality of service at this clinic. I had planned to come back after my insurance was in, but hell no. Not after getting a glimpse of this place entails. I had never been to one before or anything like it. I was definitely a bit nervous and hesitated at the door before someone opened it, which spooked me haha. The glass doors aren't see-through. There is a film over for privacy :). The entrance is also on the side of the store so you have zero risk of running into people entering neighboring establishments if you choose to park behind. I got a plan b pill which to my shock was $9. I've only been to CVS and the like before which ranges from $40-$50 per pill. It was discrete, quick, and the packaging was plain. It's also next to mall which makes it so much more accessible to people, including minors, which I so appreciate. There's the option of cash or card. You can also get more than one pill. The little flag they have in there is weird because it's a gay flag that looks like it's being eaten packman style by the transsexual colors (so I'm not sure if it's meant to be supportive or if that's a political thing or what) and also the implication that brown and black people weren't included before is strange to me. But the woman in the little window was friendly, there was no questioning other than would you like to donate at this time and how many pills. My partner came in with me and the room was empty. No one asked either of us to wait outside despite the signs on their door saying patients only in the health center. I'm glad as the emotional support was needed. I finally decided to go in for the first time to get some tests done, get examined and ask some questions. I was pretty nervous going in but the staff was very helpful and made the process easy. Crystal is the doctor that examined me today. She was very professional and definitely knew what she was doing which made me feel comfortable during the actual examination. I don't have any insurance which is why I avoided going in to get tested for so long. I didn't think I would be able to afford the costs. But in the end I didn't have to pay anything. I filled out some paperwork and I got a green card. I don't know if I was lucky but I was able to make an appointment online a couple hours in advance and get looked at the same day. The website is super well programmed and is mobile friendly. I created an account and booked my appointment all on my iPhone. I would recommend going in to get yourself tested and checked out. Normally they are very quick and efficient. I understand they are nonprofit and here to help but I do know that they pay employees as its stated In the small exam room (there is only 1-2 real exam room the rest is a desk with 2 chairs and computer in the room) and bathroom doors. I had to wait 15 minutes for the receptionists to stop talking to remember to print out my paperwork. Guessing multitasking is not part of the hiring requirement here.Seriously we shouldn't have to hear about your work lunch and plans, I could care less. The nurses here aren't special, this location is small and nothing compared to the large clean san Ramon location that I used to go to before I moved to San Jose. I will probably end up going to a different location where they care to get you in and out fast. Edited Note: This visit was actually my second visit within a week. I had scheduled an appointment a week prior because the nurse who I saw three months ago said this was the date to come in. I come in and the nurse says I can't get the shot yet, the nurse gave you the right date but I can't get the shot. I'm like why, she has no real answer. Worst planned parenthood experience.. Had an appointment scheduled at 5:40pm, was told they'd take me shortly. Yet after an HOUR of waiting with another girl in the waiting room, they have the audacity to ask if we'd been called yet as if we chose just stay and wait. The place closes at 6:30pm, yet at 6:40pm we are told that the clinician leaves at 4pm... why weren't we notified when we first arrived. For some people it's hard to take time out of your day to make it to a clinic, and for them to waste so much of our time was so rude and disrespectful. Call and check ahead of time if they even have the right staff for you before you arrive, or you might waste your time just waiting. read more

GO ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE Went in today to get an EMERGENCY prescription (not Plan B, my usual Rx) because they are so incompetent that they cannot work with your health insurance to have your Rx sent through mail, despite being called by me and my health insurance multiple times because I am leaving the COUNTRY FOR A YEAR. They have refused multiple times to do the simplest of tasks (such as faxing a form I have given permission for them to send), and today I finally got off from work early enough to go in person and they were CLOSED. And mind you, this was during normal business hours! Thanks to them, I now have no medicine and leave Wednesday. There is literally nothing I can do about it, so this is the best I can do. BEWARE Also, the phone number listed is not actually tied to the location, they answer calls for this location, but none of the operators work at this location. For example, I called them while banging at the closed doors at 4:30, and the girl on the phone said "Which location is this for? Ohhhh yeah I see. Yeah they closed like, at 3:30". Side note: this is why we cannot defund PP, this should demonstrate why we need MORE funding if anything. I'll get off my soapbox now. read more

I've been coming here for a couple of years and I've only had one negative experience. Every visit has been the same: good staff, good service, and overall a positive experience. That one negative experience was when the staff made me wait an hour to be seen and their reason was because I was the last patient. I also happen to show up on time to my appointment. Nice, clean environment. I went there for a minor thing plus I don't have insurance at the moment, so I'm very thankful for clinics like this. So long story short, the doctor was alright, medical assistant was alright they were just doing their jobs. The doctor didn't say much, she checked me and she took the sample and went her way. She sent the medical assistant back in the room with the medication. The medical assistant told me what's wrong with me and gave me the medication and she said I should be good in few days. This was the first time when I actually got to talk to a medical assistan about what doctor diagnosed because usually it's doctors who explain things and prescribe the medication afterwards. Anyways I am NOT upset about that as I said its a free clinic so I don't expect much. The thing I am super upset about is after taking the medication the problem escalated instead of improving and that made me really worried. So I waited for 2 days and went back to this same clinic again. They did the whole routine again took my blood pressure, temperature, weight etc. I waited about 25 minutes even though I had an appointment which is okay, I'm not complaining about that the medical assistant asked me to get undressed and wear the white gown and I waited another 10 minutes for the doctor. But then the medical assistant walks in and explain me that " I came back to soon and that I have to wait for couple more days for the medication to work." After listening to her I was just shocked that doctor just decided not to see me because I went back there too soon (even though I told them that my condition gotten worst). That just broke my heart because a doctor suppose to be someone who listens and understand patient's problem not just ignore them. After this incidence I m starting to lose hope in humanity. read more
