Great experience. They have parking and the place is safe and secured from the religious fanatics. Here I had access to preventive care, screenings and education about my health. This place is a community oriented health care provider and most importantly for all genders. I am glad there's a place like this for everyone that not only helps the community but does not discriminate if someone does not have insurance, on the contrary, they help everyone regardless of insurance status to get health care. Facility very clean, staff moved with grace and efficiency as soon as I arrived. The check in process was very seamless. After the necessary sonogram by the PA, I met with counselor. She was AMAZING! Very informative, offered great conversation, and extremely personable. Since I was there for such an emotional event, it was nice to be treated with such care and affection. As someone who has gone here for over a decade, the service here has improved drastically over time, particularly in how long a visit would take.. In my first couple of years being here, I remember waiting a couple of hours for appointments, & now it's lessened to a half hour or less. I've personally been on the Depo-Provera shot as my form of birth control throughout this time which I'm very pleased about, & I've always felt generally comfortable keeping my records updated when discussing my health with the professionals there. I had a wonderful experience at this clinic. The environment is extremely comfortable. There are seemingly all women there, with your comfort and peace of mind as their top priority. Everything was explained extremely well, any question I could've had was answered, I was checked on at every stage. Planned parenthood is stigmatized to be an uncaring uncomfortable place but these women at this location are the complete opposite of what people may assume. Heidi, Erica, Adele and Kitty are just a few of the women on staff that assisted me and I only wish I was better with names because everyone deserves a shoutout for impeccable service and disposition. Used to be a frequent flier in the 1990s. Had at least 2 Pregnancy Tests come back positive. The second one I felt like I was being bullied into terminate my pregnancy which turned out to be my only son who will be turning 20 in October. I'm not against abortion when it comes to other people it's there body there live and there choice they will live with. The last time I was there for an appointment was back in 2015. They are otherwise sensitive to other people's needs and compassion. If you find yourself pregnant they will help you make your decision to keep and carry the child to term and refer you to an OB/GYN, also if you decide on adoption they will refer you to an agency or if you choose to terminate they will work with you to choose the way you Want to go. They also have a health clinic for woman and men to deal with STDs like HIV as well as Diagnosing Breast Cancer or Cervical Cancer. read more

When I first read the reviews on this location of Planned Parenthood I was very skeptical. Between googles ratings and even here on yelp, I was not too sure if I should make an appointment. Since this was the closest location, I decided to give it a chance. I had an amazing experience with Maria B. She was awesomeeee!! She was my receptionist, my educator, my "doctor" (took my blood for HIV testing) and she was she last person I saw before I saw my provider. She made me feel comfortable and most importantly, I got her to laugh. Very sweet lady and I would come back to this location just because of her. read more

After waiting for 1.5+hours I was cornered in a 4'x6' room with these 2 women (who never introduced themselves with neither a name nor a medical title), and was told that my Mother who I had brought for emotional support was not to come in with me. These women began playing psychologist with me, which I was not about to play back. I thought I went to a medical clinic, not a psychologist office. They kept asking about my feelings, why I'm doing this, why I had done what I had done, why this is my decision, and kept insinuating (multiple times) that my mother (who was still in the front waiting room as I was being attacked) was making me have the abortion; while looking at me with those "sad, sympathetic eyes" but talking down to me all at the same time. They began getting nasty with me when they realized I was not willing to answer these questions above a surface answer. I knew these questions would have no sort of affect on the procedure, which was why I only wanted to answer medical questions. In fact, just as I was this close to having a meltdown, (as I was not expecting nor prepared for this kind of aggressive emotional approach from the employees, and was extremely uncomfortable without my mother present) the ladies began getting incredibly snotty with me. All I wanted was for them to ask their (actual medical) questions and be done with it. Instead they sat and pretended to be playing nice-nice while they tore through me emotionally and were probably two of the nastiest women I have ever met, especially in such an emotional place I would expect more kind, understanding women in their positions. I would recommend a 3-hour walk through a hurricane to just about any other clinic on the island if you are in a position where you will be needing any of the services that Planned Parenthood, Hempsted provides. read more

Having some health issues and needed a biopsy so i made an appt and it took a month but i finally got in. The wait sucks but it happens. I had the same Dr. as last time. Her name is Elizabeth. Last time i was there i behaved very poorly and was not nice to her at all over not being able to get test done. I apologized up and down to her and her and the nurse were so nice and caring. She talked me thru all the steps of everything she was doing. It hurt like a motherfucker but i knew that going in. They always treat everyone there wonderfully and im so glad i have them. I like the service I get from the Nurse Practitioner that I usually see. But I must complain about the wait. The wait is usually over an hour long, even two hours long. This is unacceptable. Just called to make an appointment for an IUD placement. My regular OB GYN office wouldn't do it today because I didn't start my period ( I will later this week though) and there is no availability until end of January/February!!! It was so easy! I called, confirmed they could do an annual exam tomorrow and insert my IUD anytime later in the week once I started my period. And the lady on the phone was so kind and polite. I would guess they've made some changes since the earlier reviews. This organization is wonderful, truly helps women and understands the importance of getting contraception in a timely manner. I will update after my appointments with a description of wait times, staff, etc. *update 12/15/15 after 1st appointment This clinic is amazing! It was a busy day so there was a bit of a wait but it's not any longer than I've experienced at most doctors' offices. They performed the basic exam and told me what to expect for the IUD insertion. I made an appointment for the next day. 12/16/17 2nd appointment Iud insertion visit went really well! Because I filled out the new patient paperwork the day before I was in and out within an hour! I will be coming back for all of my reproductive care! Oh and all the staff is kind, patient and hilarious. Shorter wait time compared to other PP. But it's still relatively long. However they've dealt with my youngest crying her head off as she had to wait with her uncle in the waiting room. They quickly saw me. Even asked if I wanted to step out for a quick sec to tend to her when I know they don't stop. Couldn't find a babysitter on a short notice as I had to be seen that day, which I know is bad on my part. But they all tried to make her giggle and comfort her. They did not show a single moment of annoyance or judgment. They understood and even gave me a follow up appt to the time I wanted to accommodate to her nap time. read more

I went to PPNC with my best friend who was getting an IUD put in (was driving her home), and was blown away by how nice the staff was. The waiting area is colorful and spacious, and people seemed to be taken into the exam rooms shortly after arriving. Everyone was treated with equal amounts of compassion. My friend loved the PA who she saw, and I am definitely going to use that same PA for my future GYN needs. I totally trust Planned Parenthood, and as a young woman with some insurance issues and financial uncertainty, it's incredible to have this resource so close to home. read more

Very unhelpful. They advertise how helpful they are and open about helping women trying to get proper care so they don't fall pregnant but when you talk to the obnoxious rude arrogant and scrutinizing girls at the front desk it's as if they don't even want you there and that their doing you a favor when all they do is fill out the paperwork. Horrible customer service make you feel like you're burdening them with you even being in their facility. Especially the Spanish girl in the front with black hair she's completely mean and rude. Also I don't have insurance and as a student it's free but They continuously ask me to sign up for some insurance plan everytime and I politely decline. Knowing I don't have coverage I went here for that reason and it's as if they want you to pay out of pocket anyway and they know I'm struggling. The only descent part are the doctors the first one that gave me a check up was alright and the second doctor that gave me the iud was a sweetheart and was very knowledgeable and not judgmental at all. Planned parenthood in the city is never like this completely helpful and encouraging, great people and doctors and quick and no judgmental snickering glances or attitudes. I feel at a place like this when planned parenthood is a very controversial place and you're already getting judged by society you shouldn't also feel like you're being judged by the people that work there as well. I called this office earlier today to make an appointment and was TURNED AWAY! In fact, the woman in the office hung up on me! I ended up making an appointment at a Suffolk County location without a problem. They were much nicer and understanding of the situation. I know it's hard for some people to get out to Suffolk, but trust me it's worth it. Nassau County Planned Parenthood are rude and disrespectful. Everytime I leave the Hempstead location, it's with a bad taste in my mouth. The ONLY good thing about this place are the physicians. They are kind, caring, knowledgeable, non judgmental, and supportive. But unfortunately before you get to them you can to get through they're atrocious staff. Rude, arrogant, judgmental, very unhelpful staff. They act like you're bothering them for even asking to be seen. They don't take their jobs seriously. They're extremely unpleasant to speak to. This is serious work that a person would need a heart to be able to do and their staff acts as if it's a McDonald's line. I'll never come here again and I warn anyone reading this that you surely experience the same lazy mistreatment I have endured. My suggestion if it's feasible for you is to go to the ones in the city. I never have an issue there. The staff is the complete opposite of the service I received as Hempstead. You'll leave feeling supported rather than offended. read more

I have only amazing things to say about the team/experience at this location. I have been treated with respect and smiles since I have been a patient. I started coming to PP to learn more about Prep, and it has been extremely helpful. I have been given adequate resources on the facts and procedures of the medication, and every question I asked was answered quickly and with a smile. In order to start prep, it requires quite a few visits, and I feel like the team here welcomes me as family. Everyone remembers me when i walk in, and I leave satisfied and confident that I made the right decision to visit. I have always been grateful to Planned Parenthood for detecting my cousins cancer. But it wasn't until I was taken advantage of physically in a violent manner that I really needed their help. The embarrassment of what had happened to me has had lasting effects physically and emotionally. The doctors and nurses here are always so wonderful and cautious towards my feelings when examining me. Shannon has been my go-to when calling for any questions, bookings, or refills.
