Extremely disappointing experience from start to finish. I visited Plantation Dental Service on July 29th as a new patient. I was evaluated by Dr. Suarez, who was kind and professional during my exam. Extensive imaging was performed, including x-rays, a CT scan, and a scan of my teeth. After reviewing the images, Dr. Suarez said there was bone loss and recommended a deep cleaning under the gums with local anesthetic and localized antibiotics. She also recommended removing my wisdom teeth. I explained that I am under ongoing care of a periodontist every three months and that these recommendations had never been made during my ongoing periodontal maintenance. Still, I agreed to schedule the deep cleaning, and also requested cosmetic bonding on two front teeth, which I was told could be done the same day. After spending nearly three hours there, I was told there was no time for any cleaning that day, despite specifically scheduling the appointment for a cleaning. Only imaging was performed. I was asked to leave a review before receiving any treatment, which I found premature. When I returned for the deep cleaning and bonding, I woke with a severe migraine. I asked if I could simply modify the plan for that day and proceed with a routine cleaning instead. I told the staff I'd return another day for the deep cleaning. I spent about ten minutes explaining this to Maria at the front desk. She advised there could be a cancellation fee because I had confirmed. I informed her this was my first visit and I just didn't want to undergo anesthetic injections and invasive cleanings due to my migraine. Anne Marie overheard the exchange and suggested, why don't we have the doctor speak with her? I was never afforded the opportunity to speak directly with the dentist. Instead, I was taken to the back and explained the situation again to the hygienist, including a direct request to speak with Dr. Suarez. The hygienist went to speak with the doctor and returned with message that the treatment plan would not be changed and they refused to perform a standard cleaning, only deep cleaning would be performed. I was never seen by the dentist at that visit, and honestly not sure if she was even in the office that day. I was also told bonding required local anesthetic, which was different from my prior experiences. Once I asked to adjust the treatment for that day, the overall tone of the office felt noticeably less accommodating. I was dismissed by the hygienist, who walked me back over to Maria, telling me the doctor wouldn't recommend a cleaning today with a migraine, and "cancellation fees" would be waived. I spent another 10 minutes trying to reschedule with Maria, told her the days I would be available, and still nothing could be booked for over a month away. She then went over to Bernice, had a conversation regarding the situation, and I was then passed on to deal with Bernice. Bernice found an appointment for one of the days I listed to Maria. When I asked why that hadn't been offered earlier, Bernice rudely replied, "she's new, you need to forgive her." I found that unprofessional. After leaving, I contacted my periodontists office, explained the situation, and immediately drove to my periodontists office. My periodontist's office requested my records. I overheard the conversation between my periodontists staff and Bernice. Bernice was curt with the staff as they were attempting to obtain my records. Bernice then called my personal cell phone to say, "We just received a call, you're at another dental office, would you like to brief me on what's going on?" I considered that call completely inappropriate. I had no balance and these are my medical records. My periodontist saw me that same afternoon. After evaluation, he did not find the invasive deep cleaning or localized antibiotics necessary, nor the extraction of my wisdom teeth. I understand that clinical opinions can differ, however, what I cannot overlook is how I was treated: no access to the dentist despite repeated requests, dismissive comments, and an inappropriate phone call. Throughout my interactions with Bernice, I found her manner curt and unprofessional. I left feeling unheard and disrespected. This office's only concern is to collect and bill for as much as possible. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this practice. read more

All I will say is I waisted my valuable time for nothing. The right hand did not know what the left hand was doing.

This rating based on the customer service and billing dept. Surgeon and his immediate staff were kind and professional. My son called and made a same consult and extraction appt, I thought was weird but they called a few days prior to say everything was a go , insurance accepted? When we arrived they claimed that his insurance didn't cover same day consult and extraction , couldn't give answers as to who called to verify. They blamed the insurance company.. nice deflection , but the fault was theirs. We should have took that as a sign. Flash forward two weeks, the Good Faith Estimate of $752.50, now became $868.00? I paid the Good Faith amount and asked them to send an updated bill and itemization of charges. Since December the difference of $127.00 has now gone to $355.00. they send a bill each month and I try again to call to get explanations. I've called over 8 times. Still have not received any explanation of charges. I've called ,my son has called, my insurance company has called the office twice they have explained the EOB with the billing manager and still no resolution. Not sure why they are avoiding and acting so unprofessional. I called and asked to speak to the surgeon , I was told he doesn't get involved in billing , who does then? .. not billing. I filed a complaint with the Florida Board of Dentistry, maybe they'll have luck getting me a correct and itemized bill? read more

Wow! Where do I start. I made my 1st appointment here for a cleaning (or what I thought was a cleaning). They would only take x-rays and wouldn't do a cleaning the 1st time seeing me so I made a cleaning apt for the following week on Monday. They then later call me to reschedule me telling me no one can come in to clean my teeth that day so they reschedule me to the following day at 430. Then I receive confirmation texts for a 4:00 apt so they rescheduled again but without letting me know. Mind you I work public school hours and had to rush to make it on time for 4pm. They did not come out to get me from the lobby until 440pm...I watched several people come in after me and have their appointment, check out, then leave. Once on the chair, the dentist informs me she is new to the office; understandable. But she didn't know of my previous appointment, tooth issues, or seen my X-rays & pics from the last appointment. It was like I was at an entirely different office. She wasn't familiar with the instruments and asked me to hold them for her. There was water running down my neck, my face, and into my ears. Mid appointment she asks for another staff members assistance with putting together the brush and she walks in with her mask off then proceeds to chat about patient notes. I likely will be switching to another office due to the inconsistency and difficulties stated above since my initial encounter with the office. read more

I had been going to Plantation Dental for a number of years. Visits with my hygienist routinely included periodontal treatments not covered by my insurance. After contacting Metlife, I discovered they simply requested a treatment plan to show the necessity for these special cleanings. Many subsequent conversations between Plantation Dental and MetLife resulted in no resolution. I visited a new dentist who confirmed that I required no periodontal cleaning and confirmed that my guns were always healthy. My spouse had previously been a patient at Plantation Dental and also complained of unnecessary perio treatments. He also confirmed this to be true with a periodontal surgeon who confirmed no special treatments were required. I can only say that it appears that Plantation Dental has a history of "Upselling" for unnecessary treatments. I'm happy that I no longer am a patient. read more

This review is solely based on Plantation Dental's scheduling and customer service. I was looking through my insurance company's website for dentists and came across Plantation Dental. Reviews seemed to be great and Yelp looked great, but then everything went downhill from there. I called to make an appointment for my first appointment, a regular cleaning and exam. The scheduler said she couldn't accommodate the request and I would need to come in for two separate appointments (according to my insurance company, this would have caused me to pay for the one office visit, two different times). When I questioned this she said I would need to talk to the office manager. The office manager said she couldn't accommodate this either and said only someone higher up than her could clear it. I asked for someone higher up to call me and I never heard back from anyone. Very disappointing service... Why should this process be so complicated? I made an appointment with another dentist today, no problem getting both services same day (in same appointment) no questions asked and service was friendly. read more

She was pleasant, professional and took the time to explain everything, so that I understood and was well informed. The staff was friendly and professional, as well. I really can't say enough about this dental office and all of the staff. They are organized, punctual, friendly, fast, and helpful. You really get a sense that they care about your dental health. I hadn't gone for an appointment in about 4 years and I was pleasantly surprised to see all the same staff and office running just as smooth as I had remembered. I was able to see the doctor, have a 45 minute deep cleaning, apply and open a CareCredit account to help me with the bill, and make appointments for future visits all in under two hours. WOW!! I'd give them a 0 if that was an option. This place is completely unprofessional and the staff is extremely rude. When you call to make the appointment they seem so nice but once you are an established patient and you have a problem they could care less about assisting you. Dr. Suarez is very nice but her front desk staff and office manager are a joke. My husband has gone to get fill ins, a crown and other work and it has all been a nightmare especially with their billing department. 1st when he went to get his crown it was done incorrectly and he has worse pain then when we first went to fix the problem. They told him he had to get a root canal and made an appointment for him. When he arrived at the place for the ortho they told him that he was only there for a consult when they already did the consult at Dr. Suarez's office, my husband took the day off just to find out they were just going to look at it. My biggest shock is their billing. We received probably about 5-6 different bills from them stating different amounts, mind you when he was there they told him an amount and he paid it so it was very disappointing to receive multiple bills with different amounts. He called the office and was told that his insurance didn't respond and they would send the bill again. He calls the insurance and they said they had requested additional info multiple times and the dr's office kept sending the same exact thing. After probably about 8 calls back and forth he decided to get them both on the line and that way it didn't have to be a he said she said thing. They both were on the phone insurance told them what they needed, Dr office said that they will send and then they spoke about why the amount was so high and insurance corrected them. Anyway after a long talk they agreed with an amount. We then receive a letter from a collections agency saying he owes now a late fee on top of the balance agreed on with the office. Now this is completely ridiculous more so because when he called the office to ask them why he was sent to collections since it was their negligence in not sending the correct info to the insurance company and they have been in constant contact with him about this situation. I wish that were all, they said they can't remove the late fees and when he called the collection agency they told him the office would have to and there was nothing they could do. Now they report this to my husbands credit which he is very responsible with, he has late fees and apparently no one can help him. I will be reporting them to the better business bureau and hopefully they will be able to help then. This could have all been avoided if their staff was more competent and professional. I don't think it's right you send a patient account to collections when you are the reason the fees were not paid and you have been in constant contact with the patient, which shows he isn't running from his bill. I am truly disappointed and disgusted with the lack of response from this place and willingness to assist. Needless to say we have found another office. We were patients at their sister office in West Palm Beach (Towncare Dental) which we loved so when we moved we wanted the same company. They are truly night and day and I would strongly recommend not coming here unless you don't care if your account amounts are wrong and will accept extremely poor customer service. read more

Went to plantation dental services and the estimate they gave me was outrageous even with insurance. The doctor was only there for a few minutes and didn't take much time with me or asked me if I was in any pain at the moment. As quick as she came in she left and the lady came in to discuss financials. I scheduled appts with them thinking I had no other options yet I was able to get a second opinion and a much reasonable price for the work plantation dental was going to do on me. read more

When I arrived at Plantation Dental Services it was no difference, I was scared, nervous and when I walked in and sat in the examination seat I cried...my nerves got the best of me. The medical assistant were so super nice and calmed my fears, by the time the dentist came to see me I wasnt afraid, still a little nervous, but the dentist was so awesomely nice, by the time she was done I felt better, now Im not so nervous to come back and do whatever work they recommend I have to have done. =) read more

My first visit there and was very anxious just cause it was the dentist and I know I had to have a lot of work done. The receptionist was very nice and told me my insurance company didn't assign me there as of yet even though I was on phone with them for an hour 2 days before. The receptionist took care of it it took her an hour to get it done. In the mean time I was introduced to Julie whom took me back for x rays and assured me that Dr. Suarez was very good and that she would be patient with my apprehension and that Julie as well understood that anxiety had began to take over. Julie was great. So I'm walks Dr Suarez and she was all smiles. Listened to my concerns about past experiences with dentists and understood why I felt the way I did. She went through the x rays and explained why I was in pain and showed me where it was coming from and how to fix it. We put a plan together in order to get the ball rolling. I chose sedation due to my anxiety and an scheduled for root canal on Wednesday. She gave me some scripts to help my anxiety, infection and pain. Interesting enough I am looking forward to Wednesday of getting this all cleared up and I am about 50% less anxious just by speaking with them and the staff making me feel comfortable. I'll keep ya up to date on how everything else went. If your like me and just cringe at the though of going to the dentist this is the place to go. read more

I have been a patient at this dentist for a few years. I like the doctor and hygienists. They are very friendly and welcoming. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is the receptionists. The woman at the billing is always rude and she gets annoyed when you interrupt what she has to do; like making an appointment or checking if you need to pay. She got really annoyed with me when she had to call my insurance to check the coverage AFTER she asked me if I wanted her to call them(I guess she wanted me to say no.) One time, I had to give up making an appointment because she was so annoyed because I took longer than a second to decide the date for my next appointment. Then the woman at the front: she is nice in person but not at all on the phone. When one of them screwed up my appointment, she called me and TOLD me to come early. There was no sorry or asking if I could come early. I get that she didn't make the mistake. She was also annoyed on the phone that she had to call my insurance company when my plan was changed even though I mentioned it when I made the appointment. I kept going here because I like the doctor and hygienists and everyone has bad days, but the receptionists' attitude never changed and I came home frustrated every time. Got a treatment plan for $1800 that included a deep cleaning and 9 fillings, what a surprise when I went to another dentist and the estimate I got was for $150, no need for deep cleaning, 0 cavities ( no need to remove or replace old fillings) what a shame, I really like Dr Suarez, but this is either a big mistake or just them being very greedy. When I told the lady I changed my mind about the deep cleaning with a $700 copay, she got very upset and treated me like garbage. Avoid this place. read more

I could see right away how caring and professional Dr. Suarez and her staff were. They made me feel very comfortable, and after much work they gave me a beautiful smile!
