I cannot say enough nice things about A Bar Above, in Crested Butte CO and the owner, Eliot. A Bar…read moreAbove hosted my son's wedding welcome party at the end of June 2026 and it was an excellent time for all! Eliot and his staff were absolutely wonderful and so was the food and drinks. We had a fabulous time. Eliot is such a nice guy and went out of his way to help my son. At the last minute, some help my son had hired to assist during the wedding reception the following night quit unexpectedly! We had no idea why but it was too late to find anyone else. Eliot came to the rescue with several contact names and everyone came through for my son. Our deepest thanks to Eliot and A Bar Above and a definite recommend!

The woman who greeted us at the bar was extremely friendly. That said, the pepperoni pizza we…read moreordered was A) on focaccia which wasn't mentioned anywhere, and B) The pizza looked like it had been blow torched black on top, past burnt. We asked about it and our server very grumpily replied "That's how it comes". the salad (without chicken) was the most sub par and small salad I have ever received for $18, adding chicken (which was like minimal precooked strips from Costco) was 7 or 8 dollars. It felt like every staff in there (except for the woman who greeted us) decided they hated us from the second we walked in. I gave an additional star because the folks from the adventure park crushing PBR's in the back were an absolute gem (no joke), and were really sweet with my kids. I get it, you work in a tourist town and it is super vogue to act like you hate tourists and couldn't be bothered. But need I remind you, friend, you moved here 2 years ago from the front range, So miss me with the townie tribalism. Maybe don't go into the service industry in a tourist town if you can't stand people.

We arrived before 4:00 and so we were able to take advantage of the Happy Hour menu which has a wide range of small plates that were enticing enough to make our decisions matters of great deliberation. We started with the chicken confit drummies in Buffalo sauce that were so delicious we had to get a second round. Each portion has three drummies that are perfectly sauced and finger licking good. We followed this with an order of Philly Egg Rolls which are cheese steaks in a wonton wrapper. Ambitious but rather average in the event. The beer battered fries with a curry brat redeemed the moment. The fries are crisp on the outside with creamy centers. The curry brat is sliced and mixed throughout. Excellent. We ordered the Orzo Bowl off the main menu which is a delectable mix of veg, berries, nuts and cheese then finished with the warm brownie sundae. Bruhaus offers a great selection of taps and handcrafted cocktails. We had the Espresso Martini and the Topsy and could not have been more pleased. Service was attentive and the ambiance is mountain cozy. The Bruhaus is a nice venue offering great food and beverages served with a smile.

I find their prices are often less than the stores in town. Also the adjoins store has all the basic food supplies and a great selection of snacks. The person making my sandwich in the back was super friendly, funny and had nothing but the best to say about the owners . It was kinda fun putting pen to paper and creating your own sandwich which was then given to the Pro . Aka Sammy maker. The sandwich he made for me felt it was done with special TLC. Let me say this .. holy cow!!! Large and in charge! I ate half of it one night and the other the nicer night. I didn't purchase any liquor. But for much needed road snacks and they had a pretty good selection of that and CBD drinks I packed for my trip back home. It's a shame I didn't find this earlier. The sammich guy and the front register guy both said Heather the owner was the best boss they have worked for. This exactly what u want in not only a town. But a place next to the mountain if u don't want to get gauged on resort prices. I WILL definitely back next time I'm through. Next time for the great selection of liquor and to hopefully meet the owners of what I stumbled on from word of mouth of downtown Crested Butte! Peace
