After riding the chairlifts up Crested Butte to hike down the mountain to a different chairlift for a ride down the mountain, we were hungry. The four of us ordered the hamburger with fries and one onion ring order. Two waters and two Mountain Dews for drinks. We didn't wait very long when all arrived hot and ready! This place, located at the base of the mountain, looking out over the ski slope, was absolutely jammed yesterday (not surprising with the fresh snow). I stopped in around 1:15 after making some turns, looking for a beverage, and something for lunch. There were no open tables, and as a single person, the hostess recommended looking for a bar seat (I was very lucky a seat opened). Bar seating is full service. The bartenders were good, friendly, and surprisingly attentive given how crazy busy both the bar, and restaurant were. Some might think it an odd combo, however, I love that one of their lunch options is soup (yesterday was chicken noodle, or chili) and salad. I opted for the chili, and the Caesar salad. Both were really good - the chili was very flavorful and filling, and came with a small toasted brioche roll. The drink menu is a lot of fun - I haven't seen a painkiller on a menu outside of the BVIs - so of course I ordered one. It was very tasty. My second beverage was an Irish coffee, which was also very good. One thing of note - there is no pricing next to any of their beverages, and judging by our bill, are not inexpensive (tip, lunch, with the two beverages mentioned and a blue moon, was $77). It is a great stop for lunch right at the base. Don't expect fancy and don't expect frills because there are none! The food is pricey the drinks are pricey but it is to be expected given the location. I didn't find the food to be terrible but not exceptional either. Food was pretty solid, beer was alright too. Love being at the base of the mountain. Had a solid server when one finally showed up. The blonde bartender could not have been worse to deal with however. Two days in a row she was incredibly rude. If I've been sitting for 30+ minutes and haven't seen a server, I get it, it's busy or whatever (not really it's a Monday). I walk to the almost empty bar, and try to order a drink and get told that I can only order from the other end of the bar, so I go wait in a line over on that side just for her to serve other people coming up to the side of the bar I was told I couldn't order from... then when it's finally my turn, she tells me that if I'm seated at a table only my server will help me... keep in mind I was totally sober and ordering a non alcoholic beverage (dry January), the day before I had a similarly terrible experience with the same awful bartender. Good reason to spend money literally anywhere else... every other person from our group that went here reported a similar experience. Very disappointed. read more

We got fries and some beer. The fries were crispy and yummy! It was right on the side of the mountain which makes the view awesome. People dress in either their ski gear or go to change real quick. They also have a outdoor patio, but I didn't see any heaters. Service was quick. But they close at 5 so get there a little early! read more

This joint is just ok for me. It's one of the only choices so close to the slopes, so you're going to probably give it a try regardless. We eill probably eat here again out of convenience, but I totally prefer Avalanche. My food was so unmemorable, that I can't tell you what I ordered. Unfortunately I have to give Butte 66 one star or I cannot leave a review. Conveniently located at the base of the mountain. However, the menu was lackluster and missing what is proclaimed by the restaurant/bar: "barbeque." The only actual BBQ on the menu was a BBQ pulled pork (which they were out of) and breaded chicken strips with BBQ dipping sauce. The dining area and bar closed at 6pm, which was quite early considering the surrounding dining facilities. The waitress was continuously missing. I went to the bar several times to ask for items (a drink refill, the check, etc). When the waitress finally did return, she stated that she was in the back mopping. Making excuses is never good for getting a tip. My suggestion: skip Butte 66 and head down to Avalanche. read more

This was our second time at this establishment and we were equally disappointed once again. Upon arrival we went inside to ask about a table in the deck and were told that it was open seating. Upon finding a table a different staff member told us that we could not just sit down as there was a waitlist. Need to ave staff on the same page. The service was extremely slow, the waiter was certainly friendly, but offered no explanation as to why it took 45 minutes to get 2 milkshakes for my kids. My fiance and I came here today to meet up with friends and based on the menu thought it would be good. I have 15 years in the restaurant industry (from server to manager) so my review comes with some experience for comparison, for what that is worth. Well, at least they have a nice patio because the service and food were sub par. Service- I ordered the smoked wings and never received them because our server Alyssa did not order them. She came to the table after we received our food, then was not seen until it was time for the check. My tea glass sat empty the whole meal (which I did not care for but she never came back so I choked it down and was too hungry to waite). She did offer to bring me the wings but I was not about to order any more food. Food: I ordered the smoked trout sandwich. I was expecting warm fish on the sandwich. Who serves a cold fish sandwich? But that was what I received. It was a cold and bland sandwich. Would have been nice if Alyssa had cared enough to mention that it was a cold sandwich. When I asked her if it was supposed to be cold she just said "uhm, I think so but I don't know). My fiance had the brisket plate which was also bland in flavor and tough. The BBQ sauce was not bad though. Lastly, the plastic cup that the silverware was in on the table had dirty, cloudy water with particulates floating in it. Unfortunately I did not see this until after I had already put a fork in my mouth and it was not the handle end in the water. I took a picture and will try and post it somewhere. Reasonable expectations= reasonable experience. Think cafeteria style food with waiter service. If you have the right expectations, this place isn't terrible. Keep in mind the menu is simple, the food is simple, and the interior utilitarian to serve the masses of winter warriors. The interior is no grand mountain lodge, but it is large and service was good. Don't order expecting anything fancier than your school cafeteria. Keep your expectations low and go for "safe" food like the basics; think about what would be the least offensive assuming it is frozen and reheated. I ordered soup and salad. My salad was iceberg lettuce with a "safe" dressing of ranch. My soup was supposed to be cheddar broccoli, but it was anything but creamy and though I could tell there was some pureed broccoli in it, it still was not what I would call cheddar broccoli. But, most importantly, it was edible when I lowered my expectation from something rich and creamy, to something that was more of a garlicky broth with broccoli. My husband had the BBQ pork, because he'd spied the smoker outside on the patio, and he was pleasantly surprised. Fries were actually pretty good too. Our friends had the portabello sandwich (brave in my opinion, but she ate it all so it couldn't have been too bad) and something else unmemorable but edible. Kids meals were super standard, and the milkshakes they had were quite good. $5 tap beer too. Expect to pay somewhat inflated prices, but be reasonable: you're at the base of a ski mountain practically in the middle of nowhere. Also, beware most CB restaurants, including this one, will automatically include tip on parties of 6 or more. No one got sick, everyone was able to finish their meal and it didn't completely break the bank while being absolutely convenient and accessible to the mountain. read more

The food quality seems like it came off a commercial food delivery truck. The staff always seems like they'd rather be doing anything else. My kids and I waited over 2 hrs to be seated and to get our food on 3/12/18. I do understand it's Spring Break. Food is highly over priced here but you are at a resort. The scenery is amazing and the food/burgers are average. Sitting outside on their porch on 3/14/18, just having a drink, the music was horrendous. The staff or someone was playing some kind of rap music. When I started paying attention, I heard "F_ck You" 3 times, followed by "I swear to God". There were many small children around and I didn't see one adult, especially the Christians, enjoying that kind of music. You need to take control of your business!! read more

This place will wreck your day. Three hours to almost get lunch. Ordered appetizers and a burger left after three hours without eating. Do not give these people any of your business there are far too many other options. You can actually leave the ski area and drive to town and back faster than attempting to eat here. The FOH staff is nice but the owner and management need to find another business to screw up. Get out of the service industry while you can still get a bank to loan you money.
