We've been going here since we got our pup back in 2021. What drew us to this place was their low prices and location, being close to home. What kept us coming was the excellent service and friendliness by the doctors, technicians/assistants, and receptionists. We now have a second puppy and they always remember her every time we come in. They don't nickel and dime you, and they even have discount days. I moved here a few months ago from the east coast. About a month after arrival, my cat George started misbehaving and generally seemed unhappy. I took him to another cat only vet in Bend and they basically said it could be because he had poor dental health (which I haven't heard from any of my vets for the past 13 years). They gave me a quote of $2-3K for a dental cleaning and extractions if necessary. Too high!!! Anyway, I decided on this place and the well-kitty exam they have to do before any anesthesia was well priced. They gave me a quote for dental of $1.5k-2.1k. I decided to go with them. Everything seemed to go well, he came home and after 18 days he seems to have mostly healed. What I don't understand is that the vet never called me to follow up on how he was doing. The Drs seem to do a good job and so far we feel ok about their service. The front desk person isn't very nice if you have questions about the care or paperwork. We hate dealing with her and her poor attitude. I know a few people who have told me the same thing. Took our 8 weeks old puppy for his first check-up at Plateau. It's our fist time here also. The hospital was spotless. All the staff were very nice and very helpful. Dr. Morris was very patient with all our questions and was very gentle with our little pup. I got to witness them deal with a difficult client during our visit. They were firm yet polite. They are very knowledgeable here. The only issue I had was with one of the receptionist. She it wasn't friendly when I walked in the door. The first thing I told her was I have updated vaccines in the front of the folder I handed her. She apparently didn't listen because I was asked for those documents twice later perhaps she was too busy eating her chips and soda. When I went to pay my bill she forgot to give me back my card. My dog decided to roll in a bunch of foxtails and seemed to have one stuck in his ear. He's had one extracted from his ear before so I knew the signs - head tilting, head shaking, pawing at the ear - and I called the Plateau. I'm visiting from out of town and was lucky to find them thanks to Yelp. They got me an appointment within 45 minutes of my call. Dr. Clawson was super kind and patient with me and my dog. My dog ended up needing sedation and Dr. Clawson pulled out three foxtails. I am so very thankful that they fit us in and for the exceptional care my dog received. The cost was also extremely reasonable considering he needed sedation. Everyone from the receptionist, vet tech and doctor were lovely and kind. I hope I don't have a need for another visit to Plateau on my short stay in Bend, but I wouldn't hesitate to call them again if I do. read more

Where do I start... I took my puppy there to get neutered. My dog is very cautious, but sweet, which I explained to them before I left. 5 minutes after leaving there to go to work I received a call from them saying that I needed to come back and help them muzzle him, which I came back and did, then headed back to work. 5 minutes later, they called again and asked me to return again because he had gotten the Hannibal Lecter muzzle off. So, once again, I interrupted my work day to return. On a side note... I was a veterinary nurse for 17 years and know that the first thing that you are taught is how to handle an animal with caution and the correct technique. As you can imagine, this was annoying to me because their doctors and technicians should know how to handle animals and not have to have the owner involved ( especially for liability issues). Needless to say, when I returned again, I explained that I did not have much time to invest in helping them because I was under scheduling restraints with my job. I asked them if they could grab the pre-surgery sedative and I would hold him for the quick injection. One of the technicians told me in a condescending tone that my dog was not on the top of the list and I would have to wait. Seriously?! I dropped him off at the specified time and did not expect to have to come do their job, not once, but twice. I have a life and a boss to answer to also. With that, I told them that I could not wait any longer and needed to reschedule. I grabbed my dog and waited yet another 10 minutes to reschedule, and when the receptionist didn't even look up to help me, I left. Now I was not only annoyed, but now how to take more time to drive my dog home, making myself late to the client and an even longer day. The clinic called me back to reschedule later that day. Had there been any openings at another clinic, I would have gone elsewhere. But, every other clinic was another month out and I needed him to be neutered asap. I gave in and rescheduled. Upon bringing him the following week for his second surgery date, once again, I had to wait and handle my dog myself. When the surgery was over, the doctor called me and asked me to pick him up earlier than usual. She stated that they didn't want to have to deal with his recovery since he was already so nervous. I don't know what hospital would want to send an animal home before they are safe from anesthesia effects?! However, once again, I left work early and took him home. When I came to pick him up, he was stuck in isolation, in a cold metal kennel, without a blanket. Anesthesia already lowers the blood pressure and cools the body temp down, so he was quite chilly and shaky when I took him. Who wants to come out of surgery that way? Also, the doctor told me that my puppy was not a bad boy, but could use some training, which I agree, but he isn't even a year old. Not only was my puppy still falling all over the place when I got him home, but after looking at my bill, they had added an extra $50 charge for a "bad dog" fee. Who does that?!? If you were to take your child to the doctor and they weren't good about the exam, would they charge you more money? No sir!! And, they labeled him as a "bad dog"on his record, which will follow him to other clinics. Totally bad business! I am appalled and will never return my dog to a place that can't handle their patients and will add charges to your bill without consent. If you like money and peace of mind, don't go there unless your dog is 80 and too old to not care about their terrible bed side manner. read more

I really wanted to love this vet. The prices are super great, and it's easy to get an appointment so 2 stars. However, every time I've been in (3-4 visits) they either do not diagnose my pets problem and misdiagnose and I end up at ER Veterinary Referral which always correctly diagnoses the problem. They are fantastic, however they don't do pet primary care. The staff is friendly at Plateau, except for the front desk lady who has never once acknowledged me and my dogs when we have come in. She seems very focused on other things, and doesn't say hello, or "be right with you..." She also called to confirm my next-day appointment when I was sitting in the office for said appointment, that I was already checked in for. read more

After several bad experiences with vets around Bend we were so excited to find Plateau thanks to a recommendation from one of the local rescues we love. They have been awesome with our rescue puppy from Mexico who came here with a belly full of parasites and they have taken great care to make sure he gets what he needs without over testing or medicating. I just moved here from California and had to make the unfortunate quick decision to put my 9 year old Therapy Dog Golden Retriever down. He was my best friend he couldn't go to work with me at my current job but all of my other jobs he did we also visited assisted livings. He was the sweetest Dog ever. Not knowing anyone in Oregon a girl I work with recommended Dr. Joyce I called them right away and they said come right down. They were so unbelievably compassionate and caring. They took me in right away explained all of my options and were so caring they gave me as much time as I needed and I cried like a baby and they made me and my Dog as comfortable as could be. I am obviously heartbroken right now but I had to take the time to express my gratitude to everyone involved in this process. Two hours for a wellness exam. missing paperwork. Questionable care. Our pup was taken from us curbside so of course we have no way of knowing if what was supposed to be done, was done. And two hours later when our pup was finally returned to us, he didn't have charges or paperwork to show he had even received his vaccinations. Additionally, they notified me 72hours later that their lab service didn't pick up that day so we get to make another trip to the vet with a sample to have it processed. took three phone calls to verify that he did indeed receive the vaccination but no notes on health, weight, ect. save yourself the time and money and go somewhere else! read more

I took my 5 year old dog, Mauro, to Plateau for a full dental cleaning. Due to his short snout, his tooth health was really poor. Dr Joyce was a pleasure to talk with. He answered all of my questions and calmed my nerves about the procedure. The staff truly recognized how special Mauro is to me and treated him with so much care. The receptionists were so kind and even offered to call/send photos of Mauro throughout the day! I would highly recommend Plateau to everyone. Plus they have so many discounts and specials! the doctors are knowledgeable and take good care of my animal at this vet, however the front desk staff are rude and off-putting. i dropped my pet off this morning to be neutered and as i was talking and asking questions to the front desk ladies about the process, they would frequently turn away from me and exchange looks with one another as if judging what i was saying. it's fine if you judge me, but at least do it when i leave. i was also told my pets nails would be trimmed during the process, but they weren't. the prices are reasonable, the doctors are educated, but the front desk ladies need to be replaced. read more

We started going to this vet about 2 years ago and they were great. Overtime everything has gone downhill. We knew one of the girls that worked there so we would try to schedule appointments on the days she worked. Obviously that wasn't always possible (and no longer is because she since has started a new job). The days she wasn't working, the clinic was chaos. We've been charged for our visit as well as someone else's entire visit, which took them about 20-30 minutes to fix and then they could not provide an invoice. They forgot to give our dog a shot, brought out the wrong one and almost gave it to him and then proceeded to give him a vaccine in the middle of a crowded waiting room. Some days are fine but others seem like they don't know what they're doing. It's stressful enough going to the vet, especially with a scared pet, no one wants to deal with the extra stress of not getting answers to their questions, staff members arguing with each other, and more, all while there is little to nothing you can do. All in all, we will be taking our pets someplace else. read more

I wish I had better things to say about Plateau. I will start by saying, I think their prices are reasonable and I like the fact that they post their prices on the website. I also really like Dr. Joyce and Vet Tech Sam. They have always been helpful and friendly. The first couple of times we brought our dog in, they were the ones we saw and our experiences were stellar. After that, we saw the other two doctors and staff, and our experience went in the other direction quickly. One time my dog was returned to me with runny poop all over his bum that they didn't wipe off. It wasn't just a small amount that was easily looked over, it was the first thing I noticed when I saw him and I had to clean him off with a towel before getting him in my car. Another time, they offered to do a free nail clipping with his exam, and when he came out his nails looked awful, they were extremely jagged and splintery on the ends, they didn't file to smooth them at all. Multiple times we have requested services with exams (i.e. vaccinations the same day) and they have forgotten to give them. There is a huge lack in communication within the office; I will tell one staff member something, or ask them a question that they say someone else will answer, and it never gets resolved. When my dog was ill, all three doctors recommended very different solutions, and they all kept calling me asking for updates when I had just spoken to someone else about it and it should have been noted in my dog's chart. I've also waited an unreasonable amount of time for very simple procedures. When they forgot to vaccinate my dog after it was requested with his exam, we had to return the next day and they said it would take 5-10 minutes but it took over 45 minutes and there were no other patients waiting. I was also disappointed that after my dog had surgery, the doctor never came out to talk to us or give us instructions. She simply printed out an "informational page" and the vet tech said call if he has any problems. We will be switching vets. Like I said before, if it was just Dr. Joyce and Vet Tech Sam we would have stayed. read more

Very sad experience, Took my two Chihuahuas in for shots and one for a teeth cleaning. One has a fatty tumor on her side, but all other vets said not to worry about it. I paid the fee, they said they would call me, but never did. I called them to get a date a month later. The girl said they would not clean her teeth unless I agreed to have her tumor removed so I refused. They should have told me they wouldn't clean her teeth without removing the tumor. They just took my money for the tests and I got nothing for my money. read more

I took my dog in for a rabies shot. I had to specify that I enrolled him in the shot series, otherwise the nice receptionist was going to gouge me for the full price of the shot. She was reluctant and unapologetic, almost happy to unethically take my money. I mentioned to the assistant my dog had an issue with his jaw. According to the assistant the vet could find no problem and the vet started to come out to talk with me then went right back inside without saying anything. How strange. Then, I was informed there would be a $32.00 fee for the exam. I told them I didn't agree to an exam. I was just wondering about his jaw. Another opportunity to gouge me and hustle more money. Other reviews have stated the same problem. Greedy vet who loves money more than our pets. Bad vet, no money for you. My dog is still having issues with his jaw. I have been to quite a few vets around town and I am so beyond happy with Plateau. A client recommended them to me for my dogs pending knee surgery and I couldn't be happier. They have consistently gone above and beyond in their service and the staff is amazing and attentive and my dog LOVES them. My pup is what I like to call a "stranger danger" dog. She is extremely nervous of new people and after only a few visits she runs in the door and had to find every staff member for pets. And if not everyone says hi she won't let us leave. They are very skilled, the pricing is more than fair, they are truly concerned about your pets well being and health as a top priority. I also really appreciate how detailed dr Morris is when explaining procedures, treatments etc. If you want a qualified, professional, cost effective, caring vet.. look no further. read more
