The people are Sunriver Veterinary Clinic are wonderful! We were visiting Sunriver when we notice our dog had a very red and runny eye one morning. My father-in-law said he had taken his cat there once and recommended them. We called right away and even though they were fully booked they shifted things around and were able to get us in. Everyone on staff was so friendly. The office was clean and bright and the walls are even decorated with artistic photographs of the staff pets! It made everything feel very personal. Once in the examination room, our dog spotted a toy bin and picked one out. He was allowed to keep his toy and it was a great way for the staff to bond with him. The lobby also had a table full of helpful pamphlets and business cards including where to find the emergency vet. 10/10 recommend this spot if you're new to the area or pet parenthood, looking to switch animal care providers, or just on vacation. read more

I can't say enough about this clinic. They weren't my veterinarian until my dog was so sick and couldn't get her in anywhere. They got me in , checked and then fixed her right up . In July my other dog was sick , again for him right in and found out he had major kidney failure. They have the most compassion I have ever seen . She came to my house and euthanized my dog and stayed with me they whole time . She took her time , didn't rush me and when I was ready she proceeded. She also came after she worked all day. Today my husband took in a 1 yr old German Shep male pup for a rabies vac and a look at a swollen inner eye membrane. Pup is a rescue from an urgent situation, out of his normal, and apparently scared of the vet. I didn't know he would bark at them, he's been with us for 4 days, super sweet boy. My husband was willing to muzzle, and they declined. They declined to exam the dog due to his "dangerous and aggressive behavior"- except they prescribed an antibiotic eye drop, and wanted to prescribe the Chill Protocol to exam at a later date. This means medicating the scared pup so they feel safe handling him. OK. I didn't agree in the moment (still don't, because I understand the dog) and asked for the info to consider at home. I also said OK to the medicated eye drop, because I felt it was the least we could do with NO exam. When I received the bill, they had charged 68 bucks for an exam. The Doc stood in the doorway trying to make friends with a biscuit. There was no exam, but certainly time spent. I called and spoke to the office manager. She had an attitude that let me know she was not understanding the reason for my call. I told her I didn't like her or her customer service skills. She spoke at me, and I asked her if she could please listen to me. It made her angry. They made up their minds this was a dangerous dog, and I received and respected their opinion. I didn't agree........ I wanted to know why I was misquoted the exam price for a rabies shot several days prior, and why was the price more for NO exam. At some point very quickly, I realized it was a pointless convo and told her the bill was paid, but I am a member of the Sunriver community and her attitude was bad for business. She said they do not need my business and I didn't need to come back. I took in a scared pup and needed an exam to sort his eye and give a rabies shot. As a customer with a patient at a Vet clinic my expectation is: Exam the pup and charge the fee, or send the pup away untreated with no exam or fee. (Doc told me she wouldn't force an exam because she didn't want to make him more fearful. Not the Doc we are looking for.) The office manager said they charged the fee because they cannot prescribe meds without an exam....I asked why she gave eye meds without exam.....round and round. You do the math. I don't like double-talk. Another thing.....the very nice lady who took notes over the phone for the Doc to read (she didn't read them, because she asked my husband all the questions she had answers to), she asked the office manager if the donation cash stash could be used to help us out......silenced her. Huge silent noooo. Thanks for the thought sweet staff lady. I will remember that kindness. We are just trying to make the world a better place, one healthy doggie at a time. We have been taking our pup here for the past three years for routine care. Every interaction we've had with the staff has been lovely. In my experience they have always been able to fit us in if there is an urgent need and have been able to accommodate last minute rescheduling. We previously lived in the Seattle area and Sunriver Veterinary's prices are way lower than what we were paying in Washington, and the care is far superior. Highly recommend! read more

Today was the first appointment I had since moving to Sunriver for my dog. I can't tell you how impressed I was from the staff to the Doctor. When I first called the receptionist was so accommodating and nice on the phone I felt at ease taking my dog there. My dog is not real sociable with other people and was extremely nervous when we went into the exam room. The Assistant was so kind and gentle and then Dr. Colton came in and my dog Yoshi was so at ease with him I was shocked. Dr. Colton's gentle way with Yoshi was the best I've ever experienced. Yoshi usually does not do well with men and yet with the Doctor, Yoshi was great. I am so happy and blessed that I found this great clinic and will continue with my dogs care there. K. Dr. Merideth and the staff at Sunriver Veterinary Clinic are absolutely top notch. They have taken excellent care of my 4 Newfoundlands from the very first round of puppy vaccinations until they passed of old age. I have had to bring my dogs in for everything from emergency surgery to just an ordinary yearly check up and I have never had anything but a wonderful experience with the Dr. and her compassionate staff. Best dental cleaning -EVER!!! My 10 year old Yorkie, LEXI, badly needed her teeth cleaned & some pulled. I was nervous, but as soon as I met Dr. Wendy Meridith & her amazing staff, I felt very comfortable! They even did pre-op blood work to make sure that Lexi (older dog) wouldn't have problems with anesthesia (due to bad liver or kidneys). They also gave her i.v. fluids, took X-rays where needed & extracted two bad teeth! When I arrived to pick her up, they showed me before & after photos of her teeth ~ they're absolutely white & beautiful now!!! Dr. Meridith also gave her more pain medication right before I picked her up and she was alert, happy, sleepy, and very comfortable! By the time we got home, she was running around the house as usual & surprisingly she was HUNGRY! So I gave her soft food. She's she's so much happier ~ because she can eat without pain! (I had no idea...) DID I MENTION HOW WONDERFUL HER BREATH SMELLS NOW!!! I thought dogs got bad breath from old age, but it's really because there's a problem with inflammation from plaque buildup, cracked teeth, loose teeth, and infection! You can't see always see it- but you sure can smell it! I'm so very HAPPY with Sunriver Vet Clinic that I made an appointment for my 8 year-old Pomeranian to get her teeth cleaned (because she has lots of plaque on her back teeth, red swollen gums, & stinky breath). WORTH EVERY PENNY!!! Also they have the smaller volume rabies shots ~ for little dogs! read more

I have been taking my dogs and cats (currently 6 dogs and 1 cat) to Sunriver for over 10 years now. They have treated 8 dogs and 3 cats in my journey with them. Dr. Wendy is an expert and she handles her clinic and staff with a keen desire to provide the best possible care for my animals. She has done at least 10 surgery's on my pets throughout the years. All done to perfection and I got exactly what I expected out of the care my animals received. The staff are exceptional and always give me the time and love of day, even though they all know I am a helicopter mom and always have a lot of questions. I have battled 2 cancer patients with them, one (bone cancer, Hawk) did not survive but they helped me keep him comfortable for his last days. And Camillia who is doing very well and In recovery after being diagnosed over a year ago. Also Dr. Wendy helped me heal a tear in my healer puppy's ccl. Took 4 months but we avoided surgery and she is a healthy 3 yr old now with no issues. Several teeth cleanings, spays, and other surgery's have been done and they provide a nurse that watches my kids vitals while they are under to catch any problems during surgery. This is not provided by all vets and I have huge respect for Sunriver because of this. The staff is always friendly and my girls ( dogs and cats) love them. I will never take my kids anywhere else. Sunriver vet is home to us and we appreciate all that they do to ensure the best life for my kids. read more

We rented a cabin at Cultus Lake on 7-19-2016. My Cavalier got into something and had to be revived 2 times. I called my Vet in Bend (Banfield) and they said to bring her in. It was 50 miles to Bend and my dog was having seizures every 10 minutes. I called Sunriver Vet as they were closer. Of course I was asked if they had seen my dog before-I was crying and said "no but she is dying!: Not only did they take my pet but there was someone waiting in the parking lot watching for us!. My dog was having another seizure at that moment and the vet tech grabbed my dog and ran with her into the clininc. 4 people were working on her immediately . They gave her Valium and oxygen They saved her life! W are still not sure what she ate but if not for these wonderful women in Sunriver my Hannah would have died. Thanks Sunirver team!! read more

Although their staff was pleasant and nice I myself was highly disappointed in the care my pet received. My dog was brought in for possibly having an object stuck in his intestines. After doing an X-ray the found the blockage and the first suggestion was surgery right away that afternoon. Costing from 1200 to 2000 dollars. I wasn't able to afford that so they pretty much gave up . So after spending 300 dollars to basically let my dog die I decided to get a second opinion. The new vet looked at the old vets X-ray and informs me the blockage is not the problem . Long story short I ended up putting my dog to sleep . The Dr at sunriver missed seeing a much larger problem on their own X-ray and for that it cost me 600 dollars plus I had to put him to sleep . read more

SUPER IMPRESSED with this Veterninary clinic! We had to take a cat in unexpectedly for an awful wound he suffered. We weren't sure what caused it exactly because it happened outdoors when we were gone. From my very first talk with Becky on the phone, this clinic was extremely accomodating to work with our crazy busy schedules. When we got there, Becky and the other front desk staff member were both exceptionally kind and helpful, as was Dr. Kristy Burges. Though she seemed quite young, I was genuinely surprised with how thorough and caring the doctor was. She worked with us on our budget (which we GREATLY appreciated). Again, to my great surprise, the doctor herself called me after the necessary procedure to explain how everything went. When we arrived for pickup, we were taken to a room and the doctor AGAIN came in to go over the details of the after-care. Even the take home instructions she gave us were extremely clear and thorough and even personalized specifically to our cat. Of ALL vets were have ever visited in my almost 4 decades, I have NEVER had such a wonderful experience. Dr. Burges genuinely cares about these animals and goes far above and beyond the rest. I cannot recommend this place enough. read more
