We've been with COAH since moving here three years ago, but over that time it's gone downhill. There's been a tremendous amount of vet tech turnover -- we rarely see the same people more than once, and during that time we've had three different vets. At our last wellness visit (early in the day at 8:30 a.m.), we waited 30 minutes before seeing anyone and another 30 minutes for a simple blood draw. Our senior cat was brought back to the room stressed, wet around the neck, bandages on both feet and no explanation what happened - a first for a wellness check. Here on vacation with our dogs and one had a stinky gland issue come up. They were able to get me in right away, same day. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. My dog loved them too :) Also got some great advice. Prices were reasonable for what I needed and for the first visit. Highly recommend them. read more

We switched to this clinic after having not-so-great experiences at the first Vet clinic we too our dog to when we adopted him. I did my research based on location, price, doctor education/credentials, and customer reviews. There were other great clinics in town but I might've been biased when I chose this place. Half, or more than half, of the Vets here went to my alma mater, UC Davis, which is one of the top Vet schools that I know of. I knew I could count on the staff here. We were assigned to Dr. Rewick, who didn't go to UC Davis (I believe), but that was okay. She's wonderful and so attentive to my dog. She took her time to examine him instead of a quick overview and truly got to know us. We had to see her again for a separate issue and she was so thorough. You can tell she truly cares about animals and loves what she does. Our previous clinic had awesome Vets too but I think it was the staff and Vet techs I wasn't so fond of. The techs at Central Oregon Animal Hospital are amazing! The front staff too. We truly felt welcomed and cared for. I highly recommend this clinic for your pets! read more

I feel very fortunate. My dog was coughing, but otherwise seemed fine. I had just read reviews and complaints about numerous vets in Bend, but chose to go here. I'm so glad I did. Dr. Johnston was great. He answered all my questions and never made me feel bad for asking them. Also explained that Kennel Cough is more common here than where I was living before. The hand out he gave me is probably the best medical handout I have ever gotten. We talked about the price of the medication and I got the impression I could have an Rx and buy it elsewhere. We were in a bit of a pickle while traveling in the area and away from our usual vet. Mariah managed to get us a next day appointment and make sure that our cat could get the continuing care and meds she needs, despite our home vet stalling on sending medical records. We had a very mixed experience with this clinic over the last three years. We landed here deliberately to see Dr. Colton, who was highly recommended. He was amazing - never had a better vet. But he left about a year ago and moved out of state. That apparently threw us into the pool of patients without a designated doctor so you get whoever is on duty that day. Have had a couple positive experiences on that front and two where I just couldn't believe how inconsiderate and thoughtless some of the comments were. As a client and a ten year pet parent who is reasonable, educated and responsible, I expect to at least be treated with a little respect and consideration for my questions and concerns. After the last experience we are moving on to another clinic. I'm just not willing to gamble with never knowing who I'll be seeing or how I will be treated. read more

We would like to give Central Oregon Animal Hospital a BIG thank you & a HUGE shout out!! We were up in Bend on vacation in October, 2020 & we had to contact them because our fur baby Meka became sick after we arrived in Oregon. It's so scary when this happens and especially because of being out of state & not knowing where to go or who to call for this emergency. After calling first thing in the morning they got him in right away that day! :) The staff and vet who saw our little guy were wonderful and took such great care of him especially during these crazy Covid 19 times when we were unable to accompany our nervous little boy into the office to be seen. They also contacted our vet back home to get his medical history faxed to them. They were all amazing!! Thank you to you all for all your help and the wonderful care you gave our Shih Tzu, Meka. We have been using Dr. Colton for more than 15 years. We first started seeing him when he was coming to Sunriver a couple days a week and then followed him to Bend when he moved to his new clinic. I would never trade him for any vet I have ever met. He is the most caring and knowledgeable vet ever. He always wants to know everything that is going on with our pets. He was there for us when our Shihtzu was attacked by a predator owl who put out her eye. She survived another 8 years. Recently we had our pom attacked by a deer and she is doing great. My Shihtzu Bookie lived to be 17, My Pom Keegan was with us until he was 15 and now we still have our 7 year old pom, Kenzi and her new baby sister Kodi. The staff at COAH is also awesome - they are so friendly and welcoming. This place is just "The Best"! read more

My dog tore her foot up really badly on some metal. It turned out she nearly severed tendons/ligaments in her ankle. We anticipated surgery. Dr. Colton came in with several books with pages marked, areas highlighted, and went over the injury and potential treatments in depth. It was amazing to see how much time a very busy doctor took, to avoid surgery and try to let it heal naturally. 3 different braces/wraps, 2 cones and 4 months later our dog is healed up and running crazy again. I didn't actually utilize the services here but their care, companion and follow up were amazing. Our 20 month old puppy was having difficulties over the last 20 hours. Our vet office was closed and we contacted someone that worked at the office as well as our breeder and both told us dehydration is very serious in a puppy and we should take her in. We should have asked which one but just did a google search and ended up in Pet Care Hell instead of help. After being told horrible things by a vet at Pet Care Hell location who never even laid eyes on our puppy (2.5 hours after our 10 minute estimate) we text both our breeder and vet who both said to get out of there quick! They gave us two names of Emergency Vet services in the area to get the puppy on an IV ASAP- I called one and the vet called the other for me. They happen to be the ones that called Central Oregon Animal Hospital. I got through on my call and had a night and day experience from the nightmare experience at "Specialty & Emergency" on 3rd by Zooka dentistry. (who's specially is apparently never actually seeing your pet, scaring the hell out of you and verbally quoting you thousands of dollar or be prepared to "put the dog down" in a condescending tone then sending a receptionist out yelling at you to come back and pay your bill for services not rendered. yep -that happened) While we were being seen at the actual Pet Care Emergency office, someone from this office followed up by calling me to make sure I got our puppy in somewhere and to let me know they were prepared to take her immediately if we had not. That was absolutely amazing to me that she took the time and cared enough to call and check to make sure our little family member was being helped. I would refer anyone to them because they care. We know that in a town that is growing like crazy and changing ownership left and right - that this office as well as Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center actually care about your pet and not just your pocket book. We We're trying to get home to Idaho with a puppy who'd had emergency surgery in CA, and were thwarted by weather which prevented us from going further than Bend. We feared being in a strange city with a puppy who could have a complication, then our other dog started showing signs of a urinary tract infection. Taylor Douglas DVM Saw both the puppy and our adult dog, and treated the adult. He was so kind and compassionate. We've been through a lot this past week, and being in a unfamiliar city was scary. I have taken my 12 year old golden to many vets and my mom told me to bring Casey there to have this huge lump on her front leg looked at. Being a golden and the risk of cancer is very high. The girls in the office were so comforting to me as I was quite nervous they were very very sweet to Casey and the doctor was amazing Dr Colton was so gentle with her explained everything to me step-by-step on what they were going to do removed the lump which was a form of cancer and she has had no problems since on her leg. I have a girlfriend that has a golden and I told her about Central Oregon animal hospital and Dr Colton she took Merlin to have a lump removed on his head and she was so pleased with how they were with her and with her sweet dog they explain the whole surgical procedure to her step by step I recommend them to anybody I tell everybody about them. What an amazing experience! From the minute I walked in with my very anxious dog, limping along with his torn ACL, everyone was so kind and considerate. The atmosphere was very relaxed, they have a great waiting area with two semi-separate areas, which is nice if you have a social dog who wants to meet everyone. Amazingly clean. But really what is most lovely about this veterinary office is how caring and professional everyone was with my dog and with me.
