We started taking our now 6 yo rescue to Brookswood about four years ago. The clinic is clean and all the techs and vets seem to genuinely love what they do and your animal. Unfortunately, we got to know a lot of folks when our dog had to undergo treatment for heartworm and even with all of those hard visits she still loves going. It's now been two years and she is heartworm free - and everytime we go she gets treated like a celebrity by the techs who helped heal her then. The have a nice dog play area in the back where you can wait or just let your pup get the nerves out, they are also very generous on snacks during a visit. read more

Would not recommend. Went in for one vaccine for my cat and was charged over $300 because I simply asked a question ("why does he shake his head so much? Are his ears itchy?") about my cats ears and the doctor went ahead and took a culture and prescribed antibiotics without asking me or going over anything. Before I could even finish talking about my concern, the vet had the tech out the door already to run a culture. Very unprofessional and will not be returning with any of my animals. A vet, just as anyone providing a service, should always consult the patient before charging $300 for something that was not necessary and I absolutely did not need done. Highly rude and unprofessional and I will be taking my 3 animals elsewhere. Plenty of non money hungry vets in town. read more

We took our dogs to them for years, however we will not be returning after our experience with my 5 year old dog's most recent dental cleaning. We asked them at dropoff morning of his dental cleaning to talk to us beforehand if they thought they might have to pull any teeth, as we did not want any teeth pulled unless absolutely necessary, their reception staff told us they would. Mid afternoon get a text from Brookswood informing us that our dog has already had two teeth pulled. We did not receive any prior notification of this. Pick up our dog at the end of the day, look at his teeth the next morning and wonder what the white tic-tac looking thing is jammed between his gums and tooth, as I was not informed of it at pick up, and have never seen it used before with any of my other dogs throughout their numerous dental cleanings over the years. Text Brookswood and Dr. Wymard tells me it is an antibiotic gel packet called that is supposed to help fight off any possible infection and should biodegrade. Ok fine, that was the tooth with the worst plaque on it. 2 weeks later- antibiotic gel packet doxirobe is still between his gums and tooth... I've been checking it daily waiting for this thing to degrade and fall out. At 2.5 weeks it has finally fallen out and I notice that right canine tooth is now discolored pink and has a gap between him and tooth where gel packet was shoved. Concerned with the discoloration I took him to a different animal hospital and the docter we saw there diagnosed the tooth as having "pulpitis"; the pulp inside the tooth is dying due to trauma. Between his dental cleaning September 5, 2023 at Brookswood Animal Clinic and the exam diagnosing pulpitis September 20, 2023 our dog has not had any bones, chews, kibble, or any other hard thing to chew on as he has been recovering from his dental surgery. He does not chew on toys or sticks or anything else. There is only one way that dental trauma could have occurred, and unfortunately it was done by the people performing his dental cleaning at Brookswood. He now is restricted to only soft food for the next 2-3 months and had to be put on another round of antibiotics and inflammatories in hopes that we caught the pulpitis early enough that the tooth might recover, however if it does not it will die and have to be pulled, and was previously a perfectly healthy tooth. Very disappointed with Brookswood's veterinary care and lack of communication. read more

Coming to this vet was the worst decision we have ever made for our dog. They insisted on us bringing him everyday from open to close so they can monitor him and try to figure out what's going on with him. Our pup did not eat nor stop vomiting for 5 days straight. Friday at 6pm they told us there's nothing more they can do for him, that we should get him to the hospital and that they're really hoping he can pull through. AFTER 4 days of watching him DECLINE. We get him to hospital. We had a diagnosis within an hour, within another hour they had a surgeon in, within two hours he was in recovery and feeling much better. We will never use this Vet again, we will never bring any of our other pets here again. We have never been put through such negligence. read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I do NOT recommend this vet for cat owners. I have a 2 yr old cat. Since the day I got him, he has had swollen, irritated, goopy eyes. At 4 different appointments with Brookswood, I asked them to test his eyes and told them I did not believe his eye goop was normal. They continued to tell me he was fine, and that I was paranoid. After taking him to a different vet it turns out he does have an eye infection... which means for the first 2 years of my cat's life he has been suffering from an eye infection and Brookswood did not treat it, listen to my fears, or take appropriate care of my cat. I don't appreciate being gaslit by people who should be taking care of patients. I will never return to this vet. read more

She is the first vet that I have worked with that understands the power and importance of herbs and nutrition. She is also well trained in ultrasound imaging for diagnostics. Her care has been much appreciated for my aging dog. I have also had very good experiences with Dr. Loomis and the techs. Dr. Loomis saved my dog's life years ago with diagnostics and surgery for an intussusception. The clinic runs smoothly and professionally. WOW!!! AMAZING CLINIC!!!! I have to say this is amazing clinic. Our dog Lucy was sick throwing up and not eating. This was the clinic was the one closest to us and open on a Sunday. We called them and spoke to the Kristin and let her know Lucy's back-around about eating toys. She said that the Dr was not in yet due them not even being open yet. They called us back with in 20 mins and said that they could get Lucy in at 11am. Mind you they were booked solid but knew something was wrong with Lucy due to her history. (Which we gave them that morning). We took Lucy down to get check out. Sure enough (which we knew already) she needed surgery. Here is the best part about this amazing place. My husband and I both lost our jobs due to whats going on in the world. We asked them due to her having surgery is there any thing they can do for us Price wise? (We know its pricey cause Lucy had surgery about 2 years at other place.) The Dr said yes lets work with you. They came out with the estimated price and we both agreed it was pretty amazing due to what they had to do for Lucy. Monday morning came and our Lucy was feeling a little bit better. We took her in and 8am that Monday. They called me about 1130am and said that they took other Xray cause they knew Lucy was feeling much better now. They said the Xray showed that the piece of toy she ate moved to her colon! Which means NO SURGERY!!! Which means with out these amazing people our dog would of had surgery!!! This clinic has only met Lucy twice and for them to know on the 2nd visit that she was feeling better! If this clinic can be that good at noticing our dog on the 2nd visit they are special people. They are not about money!! They are simple about the love for you'r animal! The Salmon family will forever be grateful to have found amazing, loving, caring, and understand clinic. Let me preface this review by saying that everything I hear about Brookswood regarding care for dogs is excellent. However, our experience with our cat led us to transfer to a Cat only clinic. Sticking to the facts only, and refraining from commentary, here's what happened: . Our cat needed an ultrasound for being grossly underweight. He's 16. He needed to skip breakfast, and waited for his ultrasound for 9 1/2 hours. . When I went in to get the diagnosis and waited in the "cat area", the technician led me and my friend into a room and said, "Sorry it smells like dog food. We had an open can of dog food in here." . After receiving end of life news on Thursday night, we started Huck on prednisone. Unsure how long it would take to work, when he became worse on Saturday we feared this would be his last day. At 9 a.m. I called and explained that maybe we would have to make the decision today. The very nice receptionist said, "Let me have Dr. Doornak call you. Maybe there's something more we can do." By 2:30 we were still waiting for a phone call. My husband called then and said, "We haven't heard back yet, and we're worried we have to make the decision." The receptionist replied, "Yes. She's got the message, and her plan is to call you at the end of the day today." That call never came. In our case we think that moving to a cat only clinic would be better for us, our cat, and our future cats. However, if I had a dog I wouldn't hesitate to take him there because even a dog owner in the receptionist area said, "These are great people. Been coming here for 20 years." And I've heard other good things from dog owners. I felt good about our decision to go to Brookswood until the sequence of events occurred in the way that they did. read more

I couldn't go to my normal vet because they were booked (Banfield) but I was recommended Brookswood by a local. I called ahead and they saw me the same day when I had to have my cat seen ASAP for an abscess that had popped. They were thorough and sweet and quick. They didn't charge me as much as I expected, they made sure to address any other issues or questions I had, and gave me options with how we went about treatment. They listened to me when I said they didn't need to sedate him because he is a sweetie, so it was a very quick and painless process for my cat. I really felt good trusting them with my baby. Will definitely come here again, and may completely switch from my old vet. They also had beautiful local art posted around the clinic which added to the experience. read more

I don't even have the words to describe how much I love this place! The vet tech Jenna is SO good with our pit, Ryder. She doesn't like the vet but Jenna and the vets are so patient. We brought her in for a dental and they caught a cancerous mass which was very flat and not easily noticeable. It was on her knee and we never noticed even though she gets pets like 3hrs a day. She is constantly on our laps demanding pets. It was barley raised. We get so stressed bringing our dog to the vet but the whole staff makes it much less stressful. I highly recommend Brookswood Animal Clinic. We took our ten year old cat in last week because she wasn't eating and had lost a lot of weight. We ended up having to put her to sleep due to growths in her abdomen. The staff at Brookswood was AMAZING start to finish. It was a very, very rough week for us, as Mama Cat was a very loved member of our family. Dr. Erickson was so compassionate and explained to us what was going on. When she put her to sleep, Dr. Erickson cried with us. We said goodbye to Mama last Wednesday and I'm bringing our other cat in this week just for a check up because they were that incredible and I know she will be in great hands. Did a great job on surgery of tumor removal on our dogs leg and it didn't come back and looks like nothing ever happened. Would definitely recommend her! Prior to this we had our dog examined by Mt. Batchelor Vet. I do not recommend him and his attitude made me very uncomfortable. After our experience there Brookswood was so AMAZING. Their prices may be a little higher but so worth it for peace of mind knowing our pet is taken care of the right way. Brookswood also included checkups for our dog in the surgery price and were really good about following up after surgery to ensure she was doing well. read more

Fantastic! We are so glad that we now have Brookswood Animal Hospital in SW Bend. It is just what the neighborhood needed! Everything about the clinic is wonderful. The gals at reception are friendly and helpful. The Technicians are excellent. We haven't met the other Veternarians , but Dr Loomis is a jewel. I loved the way she Mai Lei and Tian Tian for their first appointment. She got on the floor so she could be at their level! It sure made it easier for my little is scared on the table. Gentle, kind and caring are the adjectives I would use to describe Dr. Loomis. Mai Lei has an on going issue and Dr. Loomis spends as much time on the phone answering questions whenever the need arises. As I am writing this the newest doctor, Ashley Portmann called to find out Mai's history as I just requested a refill for one of her prescriptions! I was thoroughly impressed and delighted! Part of the reason I chose this clinic was based on all of the positive reviews, and I'm happy to report that they've more than lived up to them. The staff are so friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Dr. Portmann was incredibly patient with all of our questions, was just excellent with our dogs, and is quite knowledgeable. We recently had one dog in for dental care. The front desk staff put together a thorough (and accurate) estimate. It was reasonable for the quality of care provided and comparable to other things in the area (i.e., not cheap, but good value). Our dog ended up needing two extractions instead of one, but it all still came in under the estimate. Dr. Loomis even took the time to show me the teeth that had been extracted and to explain what was going on in my dog's mouth. My dog is terrified of vets, and can be difficult to handle. I have been very impressed with how sympathetic and caring they have been; they go out of their way to make him as comfortable as possible. Instead of muzzled, kenneled, and terrified, I came back to find him curled up on a bed in a corner of the clinic, able to watch everything that was going on with minimal stress. Dr. Loomis is a true gem in Bend. Her compassion for our pets and genuine interest in their well being is what makes her so special. We have 2 dogs and 2 cats and three of our animals are seniors. We are so happy that Dr. Loomis opened her clinic near us and has a convenient U-Wash station for our dogs. We followed her from Blue Sky and we are happy she stayed in SW Bend. I was a big fan of this clinic and staff for years.. until I noticed something wrong with my beloved dog, 10 years old. They didn't try to figure out what was wrong with my dear boy... I had to deduce what was wrong and ask for a referral to specialty clinic who saw that my poor boy had bone cancer in his head. Before his visit to the specialty clinic, my dog had been to vet for other things, checkups. Nothing diagnosed wrong. Vet said that two teeth needed extraction. I thought that maybe that was what was bothering his head which he didn't want touched... so I requested his teeth extracted (prior to his diagnosis at specialty clinic), thinking this was the cause of his head discomfort. Dr. Loomis extracted his teeth and I don't know how, but no prior testing done, he was missing much of his skull due to cancer of his head!! Adding more discomfort to his extreme misery already. The specialty place wondered how she couldn't see that. I'd NEVER take my dogs there in the future nor recommend them. She was simply too busy to care about my beloved dog (who passed within a month of diagnosis at the good specialty clinic). Ouch... hurt my dog, hurt my trust in her, hurt my heart. read more

Finding this clinic was a blessing. My 10 year old dog pinched a nerve in his neck and was in terrible pain. The staff got us in quickly and showed compassion like I've never experienced. They helped manage his pain and also tried to ease our minds. The treatment was affordable and at no time did I feel like I was being taken advantage of financially. Dr Loomis is wonderful and really cares about the animals she sees. She took phone calls and answered all of my questions without judgment. Also, Dr Yeates is amazing at what she does. We got out dog a chiropractic adjustment and she is amazing at what she does. With the combo of meds and adjustments I am so thrilled to report my dog is back to normal and pain free! This clinic is so used to the wealthy customers coming in and having all the money in the world to blow on a vet visit. The woman really did a poor job. She ran blood work and all kinds of scans and tests and prescribed my cat antibiotics and an ear wash and weeks later was STILL trying to get me to come in for more expensive appointments and treatments. $400 for the first bill. Guess what? I got a second opinion at lapine animal hospital and it was just MITES. If that woman would have put my cats ear gunk in a slide she would have known that and it would have been a $100 bill instead. But she continuously over charged, over treated and over prescribed. I can't offer enough praise to this gem of an animal clinic in Bend. The staff at the front desk were warm and inviting, while efficient with time. Our particular visit was with Dr. Gray, who is helping us work through sever OCD in our border collie blend. Dr. Gray (Liz) took time to answer all my questions, share a wealth of information presented in a manner that was easy to digest for this non-vet, and offer suggestions that were not only practical and beneficial to our four-legged friend, but also take into consideration our home environment (we are expecting our first child anytime!). I entered the building feeling defeated and left empowered and excited to implement the tools I learned during our time with Liz. Before leaving, Liz introduced me to Ruth Loomis, the practice's owner, whose love of veterinary medicine is nearly palpable. She was easy to engage and had a lovely demeanor. I look forward establishing more of a relationship with Brookswood Animal Clinic because the quality experienced today I have found to be rare in our town. Needless to say, we have transferred our records from other vets we've visited in the past, as we want to support this new business. **DO NOT BRING YOUR PET TO THIS CLINIC. SAVE YOURSELF $100S AND GO ELSEWHERE** I wish it was possible to give 0 stars. The amount of money this clinic scams out of their customers is sickening. I have personally had two encounters with this clinic for two different dogs. First dog was an emergency situation and needed emergency abdominal surgery to remove a blockage. Final bill? $1800. Not happy about the cost, but necessary. Second dog (and the source of the poor review) had a split toenail that needed attention. He was brought in with the explanation that we (the owners) didn't want to clip the nail and cause damage so we thought it best to bring him in. Mind you, this is one of the most docile dogs I have ever encountered. The vet takes him back and says " it will be a while so if you have errands to run you can come get him later" I think, Perfect! I get a call a while later saying "He is just waking up (they sedated him to trim a toenail!!) , we can give him a sedation reversal drug to speed up the process if you like or he can stay and wake up naturally." I say NO to the drug and to let him wake up on his own. Come by to pick him up, look over the bill.... $400!!! TO TRIM A TOENAIL!!! Not to mention, the sedation reversal drug was listed on the bill. It was credited back and antibiotics were given with the instruction that if it wasn't getting better (there was swelling and irritation) to come back. We bring him back in because there had not been progress and the vet says we will need to do more research (could be cancer, need to do multiple $85 x-rays to be sure) and possibly amputate. Fine, we say and ask for a quote... $1800!!! (remember that number from the emergency surgery?) We look over the quote and it is absolutely absurd. $85 x-rays, $100s in sedation... you name it, it was on there. Go home and get a quote from a different vet (out of town).... $300 for the EXACT SAME PROCEDURE. Obviously, the procedure was not performed by Brookswood for 5x the price. Now, for the cherry on top. While the second dog was in for the toenail trim, we requested some kind of anti-anxiety medication for dog #1. It was added to the toenail bill but never filled. The amount was credited back with the instruction "When you are ready for it, just call in and get it filled" I call in today and request the medication. I am told that I will have to have a Wellness Exam on the dog before the medication can be filled. Another $100 or so. THERE IS NO CHANCE IN THE WORLD I WOULD BRING MY PET BACK TO THIS CLINIC FOR MORE MEDIOCRE CARE AT 5X THE PRICE. This clinic will scam you out of every penny you have for the most absurd diagnostics. Do not waste your money on this clinic. Save yourself hundreds and go elsewhere. This clinic will NEVER have my business or the business of anyone I know. read more

I have always had great experiences here! The first weekend we moved to the area (Sunriver), our puppy's dew claw nail split in half from the snow and we had no idea what to do. Brookswood fit us immediately into the schedule and treated us like family. Since then, we have gone there for multiple vaccines, check ups, and other appointments. Our elderly cat started vomiting one to two times a day and I found that Brookswood Clinic had a request a quote button on yelp. Dr Loomis replied promptly, the pricing seemed fair and I had an appointment for the next day. Throughout our visit, the Brookswood staff dealt with our cat in a considerate manner. Upon arrival, they made sure there were no dogs in the waiting area when I came through with her and they provided a cloth sprayed with pheromones to help calm her. Dr Loomis and staff examined her and carefully took blood and urine samples. Throughout, they treated my cat with kindness . Dr Loomis said she would phone the following day at around 7pm with the test results and at 7pm, I received a phone call. That's five stars in my book. read more
