Stumbled upon this place when I was on my lunch break, and it was great! The benches were really cute and had a rustic interior, which I love for coffee shops. They had a pretty good menu. I got the tuna melt sandwich and the chocolate chip cookie. The tuna melt was toasted and full of flavour. However, I will say the chocolate chip cookie was a little hard which is not typically something I like in a cookie. Service was splendid. The staff were kind and always had a smile on their faces. A train station themed coffee shop brewing with Stumptown Coffee (Portland, OR, USA) beans. It was here that I was asked for the first time ever HOW I wanted my *Honduras 'El Puente'* pour-over. I have had a many a pour-over, so this caught me off guard. I was recommended a V60 filter which the barista was helpful in informing me that it would offer me a clean brew, but still leave behind some residual oils from the bean. Okay! Already loved the coffee knowledge being imparted to me. My final cup of joe even came with an informational card regarding the beans, the location the beans were harvested, the varietal, and classification. Quite the fruity and floral cup of brewed coffee. Neat vibe to the location and bench-like seating (as if you were seating inside a train) were like cubicles. Lots of coffee places to pop into on E Hastings, but with the amount of attention and care that was placed into my single cup of coffee, I'd recommend this one over the others! read more

As many have mentioned, this is definitely one of the more uniquely themed coffee shops in town. Seriously, I want to shake the hand of the person who designed this place. I thought I was in England. Parking is available directly on Hastings outside of the morning rush hour, as well as the side streets. How they managed to make this place look like a 19th Century train station is seriously amazing. The interior alone makes this place worth a special trip out. See photos. So hipster and so awesome. The tables are generally good for only 2-3 people here, so be sure to come in small groups. I also didn't see any outlets, so it's something to keep in mind. Maybe this is how they keep people from staying too long. The coffee I had was decent. No complaints there. My only complaint is that this place closes early, but so does everything else around here. read more

I have bookmarked Platform 7 for a long time, I finally got a chance to check it out on my day off! I really have high expectation of it. Of coz, they didn't disappoint me. When we walked in, I found the interior quite unique and designed as an old European style train station. I would say the baristas were friendly and definitely know how to make the coffee properly! I totally fell in love with Guatemala, it have full flavour of plum, dark chocolate, orange and etc... just like champagne flavour. The mocha was great too! After the first time there alr1eady thinking to come back next time with my friend. It's so delicious and no wonders they hit the spot! It's worth to wait and the cost. read more

The hubs and I checked it out one April Sunday. It was busy and we barely found a spot to sit and drink. We had a cappuccino and macchiato and the espresso drinks were delicious. They also serve other forms of coffee which we were not inclined to try at that moment. What I love is that they serve Oregon's own Stumptown coffee...ah so good. The location is decorated to look like a train station. It is already an experience on its own level. Definitely worth a trip to take a look inside. read more

I really liked this little coffee shop, which I just recently discovered. It's cute, a little quirky, and has the most delicious lattes. I can't normally distinguish one latte from another, but I think the coffee quality really made this one stand out. The shop has a great neighbourhood-y vibe, friendly staff, and some good looking food (which I didn't try). I would have given it five stars, but a small latte there is VERY small, at least compared to what were are generally used to nowadays. Although it's not somewhere I will go regularly because it's not in my neighbourhood, I will definitely go out of my way a bit for a Platform 7 coffee next time I am in the area. read more

Since I absolutely love the interior, I'm going to start with that! I think their interior design is so clever since it gives off an outdoor atmosphere, all while being inside. Feels like I was transported elsewhere once I walked inside. I came here to study and get some work done, and in terms of comfort, it was spacious and gets the job done. They do have free wifi as well. One thing that kind of bugged me is all the flies near the front.. I also noticed a bee was buzzing around my work space which was a little distracting. Guess it adds to the whole "outdoor vibe." As soon as I entered, I was greeted warmly. I asked what their most popular item was and surprisingly I was recommended a basic Americano. I opted for that and a salted chocolate chip cookie, as well as a double chocolate one. The coffee was really quite good! I almost always drink my coffee black and this one was nice and smooth, yet bold. It also kept me WIDE awake into the late hours of the night, which doesn't happen frequently, coming from an avid coffee drinker. The cookies were honestly not that good. They were hard and didn't taste very fresh. In terms of coffee, I would rate this place a solid 4 stars.. but you can get amazing coffee with a better atmosphere and snacks elsewhere. read more

I'm a fan. A very chill coffee spot with cool decor and place to read, chat or study. Have yet to try any of the baked goods yet but it all looks yummy. Coffee wise, what I've had so far has been very good. Smooth, consistent, and good ratio of ingredients for my lavender mocha -liked it so much I got it twice. And latte machiatto too. I lived in Portland for a decade so stumptown beans isn't anything new to me but they did it right here. Bonus is some amazing tacos next door when you get hungry! :) read more

#HastingsSunrise residents rejoice! Platform 7 opened recently in Vancouver East Village. What an outstanding shop. Themed after a train station, the design features are really surprising. It looks like a movie set for Harry Potter. Plenty of employees, serving both home baked and locally sourced goods, some gluten free and vegan options. The coffee is Stumptown, service options are espresso, Chemex pour-over and Siphoned. Iced varieties also served. The accoutrements are impressive, (akin to Revolver in Gastown.) Serious coffee aficionados will appreciate the effort put into this place. This is another independently owned operation, which for us locals is a good thing. Hastings Sunrise is becoming a powerhouse of cool and Platform 7 is the lastest harbinger of that fact. Stumptown beans, lovingly pulled with exquisite crema and perfect milk lovingly poured made my latte a work of art akin to anything you would find in Portland. The Id (interior design) is so intriguing and amusing that it makes me want to linger as I await my journey to some distant land via rail. One of my favourite coffee shop I've been to recently. Love the location, unexpected & full of surprises. Staff was friendly Outdoor garden is tremendous (my eyes were full of hearts when I realized they got the back end as their outdoor seats & decorated a garden) would be very nice and chill ac in the summer time. Can't wait to spend some time here again on my next visit. Their coffee beans are unforgettable, had their latte macchiato. Now I can see the hype; it's a real different decor, with the wooden booth benches, a center, circular seating section, and the best VIP seating in the back, on the raised platform, how ironic. Didn't come in for the coffee though, as the baked goodies caught my eye...even after ravishing the churro at nearby Tacofino, and walking around grocery shopping, my stomach still needed a sugar fix, and opted for the double chocolate cookie...and this was heaven for just $2.50 but really, had a lot of bulk to it; heavy and deleesh. Only regret was not buying another one to take home as i generally like to wash down a chocolate cookie with fresh, cold milk ;) A sure repeat soon. read more

I've been dying to check out this cafe after seeing some photos. It's even better in person! Love the train station look, even down to the prop suitcase. Reminiscent of Revolver in Gastown, there's plenty of seating and charm. While I didn't eat anything, all of the baked goods looked really tempting and freshly made. I wanted to give this place a 5 star review but I thought my macchiato was less than perfect. A little too bitter, not a good espresso to milk ratio. Revolver is still the winner for me. read more

Love! Wow, the coffee was really good! And, the folks here know how to prepare it perfectly. On the last day visiting the area, I wanted something outside of downtown Vancouver and a little off the beaten path. This was the place. They brew Stumptown coffee which drew me there in the 1st place as it's one of my personal favorites back home in the States. The coffee was strong/bold, which I prefer. Tried one of the Morning Glory muffins which didn't disappoint. To top off the experience, the owner was so personable. The interior is creative, unique and inviting. I didn't know there was a "secret" garden in the back, would have loved to check it out - so maybe next time I visit Vancouver. :) If I were a local, I'd be here often. This is the place to come if you love really really good coffee (and great vibes). read more

It was nice to see Stumptown coffee on the menu after a recent trip to Portland! Great place for some premium coffee and snacks! I have been here twice already. I tried the latte and latte macchiato on separate visits. Coffee is definitely the star! The baked goods are tasty as well. However, the baked goods are not covered so I saw a fly crawling over the muffins and cookies during one visit. The pumpkin spice muffin tasted very festive for the fall season. I tried a cranberry turkey sandwich on my last visit and it was decent. Overall, I would order coffee and baked goods (if I do not mind critters) again rather than the sandwiches. Service was fast. Came here with my bf on a Monday afternoon during the long Thanksgiving weekend. Cafe was quite busy but we managed to find a table. I really liked that their name matched their train station decor theme. It sorta reminded me of Harry Potter lol My bf and I both had their specialty brewed coffee which had hints of blackberry and dark chocolate because it was the least acidic but full of flavor. My bf also got a sandwich which had brie cheese, apples and some meat in it with a side of tortilla chips. I didn't try the sandwich but he said it was very good. As for our little sweet treat, we got a pumpkin cake to share which was very good. It was moist and tender, and full of flavor. You could taste the cinnamon and pumpkin in it, and the walnuts gave it texture and helped cut the sweetness of the cake because it was quite sweet. Overall, staff were super friendly and informative especially since we didn't know what coffee to get so he gave us some tips on the coffee choices that they had. read more

I give 5*s for coffee quality - ONLY choose the siphon! It's so good, you don't even need milk or sugar! Plus watching them make it is like high school chemistry class (check out pic I posted)! But I give no stars for the amount of hipster wannabes and crap music. I feel like I'm in Portland circa 2012 here. The music was good once, but the manager/owner (guessing) left, and it turned into somebody's d-bag brother's annoying repetitive zero-effort house music all too quickly. It'd be fine if it were softly playing in the background, but it's hard to talk over the volume. So far, all of the treats and one panini I had were great. No complaints. If you're dairy-free or a celiac, not a lot of food choices. My first time here, I ordered a chai tea, and it was like the barista dumped the entire container of tea masala in my cup. It was so nasty! Just stick with coffee....seriously. The decor is super cool! I love the light bulbs, the ceiling, and the amazing coffee/glass gadget display behind the counter. I wish it was called "Platform 9 3/4", it brings out my supernerd. Conclusion: I come for the coffee & company (my good friend). Maybe a treat. Great coffee and amazing snacks, when you actually get to order it. I've walked into that location twice and stood before the counter, first in line, and had no one acknowledge me. I get that you're busy - I've been a barista myself - but no one said hi or even made eye contact. The second - and last - time I went there I waited for a solid five minutes before walking out. I had this brief existential crisis: was I a ghost? C'mon guys, I get that you're really hip, but that's basic customer service. This is a great place for gluten free and vegan treats. I come from the Brentwood area in Burnaby to this cafe - just for that. The coffee is great, lots of different concoctions to try, and there's a neat little Backyard secret garden in the back that's open to customers. Latte art workshops are also available. One negative thing - the layout, with the width of the tables, is inefficient. They need a bar height counter along the east wall, and to move the tables toward the cashier / Coffee Wall. The tables are big but at 4-people a table, it's premium space if only 1 Person decides to sit there and hog it. Or maybe add a communal table? I can see the space filling up fast. read more

I was on a major low when I waddled into Platform 7. Right away, based on the effort they had made on the decor to make it resemble an adorable old-timey train station I had decided to be as judgmental as possible. Their aesthetic tastes differ than mine in a way I can't connect with, which obviously makes them pretentious. I was unsettled by their efforts to make the place look interesting, and was concerned about what the building looks like under the wallpaper. It could be ANYTHING under there and they are deliberately hiding it from me with their "decorating." I wanted some coffee, but when I asked about coffee they gave me a menu and options, as if they know more about the variety of coffee they serve than I do! Well, I've been drinking coffee for 45 years, and how dare they offer me more than what I have already been made aware of. Martini style coffee? I am offended. My casual knowledge of coffee pales in comparison to theirs, which makes me angry and compelled to write a terrible review about how rude they are. Sure the baked goods and sandwiches are delicious, the coffee is from Portland's lovely Sumptown beans and the staff are kind, but it's something a little different and things that are different when I'm expecting same just make me so angry. This place is still going through some growing pains, however, they're doing on awesome job so far in spite of not having enough variety of pastries, alternative sugars for hot beverages, no cinnamon, no skim milk, no sugar free syrups etc. The service was awesome and friendly and my barista has a passion for what she loves doing...coffee. She clearly sees this as an art rather than just a job at a coffee shop which I appreciate. I was fascinated as she explained coffee and method to other customers. My stomach was having some sensitivities and I needed my latte extremely specific with a long list of do's and don't's. The barista made it clear that it may not turn out well, however, I informed her that I would not hold her responsible for the turn out. The good news is that it turned out really well in spite of the long list of adjustments. Very good costumer service for working with me on this. Prices were very reasonable and there is lots of space to hang out. They didn't have Stevia, therefore, in true Lydia fashion (Breaking Bad) I had my own in my back pack. read more
