I was lucky enough to win a 6-pack of cinnamon buns from a Valentine's Giveaway on Instagram, and the moment I walked into Grounds for Coffee, I was hit with the most amazing sweet cinnamon smell. I LOVE cinnamon, so I was already in heaven. They gave me a huge box of freshly made cinnamon buns topped with silky, sweet frosting -- and I love my buns extra sweet! One big bite and I was instantly in cinnamon bun heaven. The buns were soft, fresh, and packed with real brown sugar and cinnamon that ooze out in the best way. It's honestly so hard to find perfectly made, fresh cinnamon buns in the Lower Mainland, and I finally found my go-to spot. Thank you, Grounds for Coffee, for your generosity and love . Located just a few minute walk from Commercial Drive Skytrain is their delicious gooey cinnamon bun cafe! Grounds For Coffee specialize in making delicious cinnamon buns. Their cafe is busy at times so it could be hard to grab a spot. Neverless you should come here to try their delicious cinnamon buns! read more

Honestly, everything I've tried here has been delicious, so you really can't go wrong with any choice. Spacious, bright, community-oriented coffee house with some great-looking baked goods. I stopped in here for a cold drink and opted for one of their summer specials: a blended berry lemonade. I got to pick what berry I wanted - blueberries - and they actually used real fruit. The drink was refreshing and delicious. I sat around for a while to savour it and charge my phone. read more

I got the pumpkin spice cinnamon bun. It had a very mild pumpkin spice flavor. The only difference that I noticed was that it had a stronger cinnamon flavor to it. It was still nice, but very mild. I recommend warming the bun up before enjoying. I also could have used a touch more icing. read more

You can never go wrong with a cinnamon roll from Grounds. This has to be the best cinnamon roll in Vancouver. Perfectly soft, chewy, right amount of sweetness, warm if you have it in the cafe and you just want to lick the plate clean. The cafe itself is always a cozy place to catch up with a friend, do some laptop work or read a book. The staff at the counter are always friendly and great service all around. read more

It was super easy to order online through their app ahead of time and go into the store to pick-up! The staff are friendly and efficient, and it was vibrant and bustling on a weekday afternoon. I ordered a cinnamon bun and it is SO delicious. It's fluffy, soft, chewy at the same time, full of cinnamon flavour, and slathered with that delectable cream cheese. A perfect treat to share. As soon as I went into the cafe, I was instantly enveloped by the irresistible aroma of freshly baked cinnamon buns. Because I was in a hurry for some nearby volunteer work, I only grabbed a cup of flat white and decided to save the cinnamon bun for post-task indulgence . The flat white was robust and blended with creamy milk. The cinnamon bun was a soft and fluffy delight, although a touch more frosting could have enhanced its flavor. I won these free Pumpkin Buns from @groundsyvr and they were soooo good! They use the same cinnamon buns that they are famous for, but put a pumpkin spice frosting on top in place of the usual frosting. Mmm...absolutely heavenly! I had tried the regular cinnamon buns earlier this year from their Alma St. location. This location on Commercial Drive seems bigger to me, with more places to sit. To be honest, I can't even remember if there were any places at all to sit at Alma St. as I was in a bit of a rush to buy the buns and go when I was there. My gut instinct though, tells me that the Commercial Drive location is bigger. Service: Good (They were very helpful in trying to help me with some complications I experienced in trying to redeem my free pumpkin buns through their app.) Parking: Free parking on the side streets off of Commercial Drive. Location: On Commercial Drive with lots of other shops and restaurants to visit. read more

My go-to place for cinnamon buns in Vancouver! I always try to grab their limited edition buns but the classic ones never fail. Soft, chewy, gooey and everything you expect a cinnamon bun to be. SENIOR UNFRIENDLY.....a working place I came to Grounds to have coffee with a friend and I did not mind waiting for a table until I realized some people were working there pretty continuously. I asked the staff and was told that it was equal for everyone. I was told there were seats outside. I asked why the people so obviously working were not directed there as I had no desire to sit outside that day. The place was packed inside. I replied that it is not equality if people stay here for hours working with one empty cup in front of them while others cannot sit. I stood for maybe 20 minutes before a non-working couple left and gave me a table. I counted 9 people working full tilt, some on computer and phone, doing their business or studies. Is this the new library, albeit with treats? I was also told by staff that some people stay for 8 hours. Wow! Meanwhile during busy times the place is definitely has to be take out only as no one is going to give you a seat. I think the lack of any meaningful policy at Grounds makes it SENIOR UNFRIENDLY. I tried to talk to the manager as I could see her. I asked an staff member to tell her I would like a word. She did not make any effort to come to me even though I was right there The employee said she was just leaving. What kind of management and lack of policy is driving this cafe? I blocked out the faces of the photos I took to protect privacy. But the photos speak for themselves. read more

Best cinnamon buns ever! Super friendly staff, with limited seating in stores due to COVID-19. Super busy all the time because they're amazing. Walkable distance from Commercial Skytrain station - there is some parking nearby as well, but it is located on a very busy street. Wild Berry Cinnamon Buns: They have this as a seasonal flavour that does come back on rotation. I LOVE their cream cheese icing. House-made berry compote on top (blueberries, raspberries and blackberries). I got a 6-pack to-go and it is packed very well, there's a layer of plastic on the inside wrapping the buns, and then put into a cardboard box and bag so it stays fresh. Texture and flavour are perfect. I like their coffee as well (I got their oat milk latte). Highly recommend this place! read more

Last time we were on the "Drive", Grounds For Coffee stood out as " happening" and we sworn to return on a less caffeinated day. Months years later..,,,, On the "Drive" you can literally open a pest infested joint and people will still pack the place. The draw of the Drive is its tourist significance, a happy place if you will. Let's just say with its swanky bohemian woodsy artsy interior, Grounds For Coffee looks expensive. As noted by others, this is pricy. If you are looking for value, forget about it! A cup of coffee and cinnamon bun will set you back 10$ if you do not factor in tips. In late 2021, this is relatively high. Coffee is alright. Not better than your average Starbucks. The cinnamon bun was exceptionally underwhelming as it does not taste fresh despite their artful presentation. Overall it was not a positive experience food wise. However if you are like every other patron there hovering over a laptop checking your social media on your smartphone bunkering down for the next 12 hours, it is a comfortable place to be people watching, er I mean studying or working. Food Coffee wise 2 stars. Ambience 4 stars. read more

Modern hipsterish coffee place along the Drive. Parking is available on the side streets. The place is one of the larger spaces, and even has a patio in front as of the time of writing. Theme is mostly wood and plants. Plenty of seating inside as well. Staff are friendly. Coffee is on the pricier side. Got to pay that hipster premium. With that said, the quality is there. Coffee even comes with free chocolate of the catering platter variety. Yay! read more

This place is known for their sumptuous cinnamon buns but I go there for their super moist muffins! Especially the superfruit muffins that make with 7 different types of fruit...so delish!! Busy. Busy. Busy. And for good reason. Wanting to bring my wife and daughter for a treat in the morning, we stopped by Grounds for Coffee to introduce them to what many consider the best cinnamon buns in Vancouver. The timing of our visit couldn't be any better as we were able to also try their seasonal offering of the Pumpkin Spice Bun, as well as their regular cinnamon bun. We all agreed the pumpkin spice bun was the better of the two, but the regular one was no slouch at all. Both were fantastic and we found it was a combination of both the texture and not being overly sweet that really made them a hit. I'm not sure if I have had a better cinnamon bun, but I'm going to put these ones at the top of my list until proven otherwise. Tables are hard to come by at this location during prime hours. So keep that in mind for your visit! read more

I absolutely love walking through the drive. One of my favourite spots is Grounds. Every time I enter, I'm always greeted by the wonderful staff. The atmosphere is clean and crisp, with plenty of tables that are socially distanced. There is also a cute little patio out front with a couple of tables. Grounds is a cafe that specializes in espresso and tea. My favourite drink is the Earl Grey tea with milk. I'm boring; I know, but the tea has a really nice flavour. If your not a tea drinker, they have a delicious caramel macchiato that is not to sweet, but in my opinion needs more caramel. Grounds also has an assortment of baked goodies like cookies, muffins and there famous cinnamon bun. I was lucky enough to try my first one as my birthday treat which included rainbow sprinkles on top. If you like cinnamon buns and it's your birthday go get one, if it's not get one anyway because they are amazing. Your welcome!! read more

I'm so happy that Grounds For Coffee opened a second location on the Drive (no need to trek to Kits). I went this morning to check out this new cafe. It has high ceilings, free wifi and of course their famous cinnamon buns. I ordered a black coffee, flat white and two cinnamon buns. The buns were nice and warm. It was sweet but not crazy sweet and moist inside. I really enjoyed it. The coffee was delicious. I like to have a bite of the bun and a sip of coffee to balance the flavour. But I wish they have some sort of designs on my flat white. I get turn off whenever I don't see any nice picture on my specialty coffee. Honestly, a blob of white foam is not appetizing. Lol ;) Prices were average. It is cashless, so bring your plastic. Service was very friendly. Definitely coming back whenever I crave for a cinnamon bun. read more

The cinnamon buns are TO DIE FOR! So good, worth every penny and the they are massive. Coffee I was not a big fan of, got a latte and really did not like it here. Cinnamon bun was delicious! There's also a whole selection of baked goods available too. Coffee was great, and the cafe is well equipped for working. The cinnamon buns are all on a hot plate, although, mine was just warm. Still great though, next time I might ask them to heat it up in the microwave for 30 seconds. read more

Someone brought Grounds for Coffee famous cinnamon buns to work. I tried the plain cinnamon bun without the icing which was tasty. The bun wasn't too sweet. If you love eating warm cinnamon buns, put it in the microwave for several seconds. It'll taste like it just came out of the oven. Yummy overload! Nothing beats a weekend stop Grounds for Coffee for the best cinnamon buns in town!! I recently came here for a visit to grab some cinnamon buns and coffee. The service is such and they even have an app where you order from ahead of time and collect points for rewards. My favourite way of enjoying the cinnamon bubs has to be heating them a bit to induce that ooey-gooey finger licking vanilla bean cream cheese icing! It just melts into the bun and you just can't help licking every last bit of that icing off your fingers! read more

The Jasmine loose leaf tea is very fragrant and provides a very nice alternative to those who prefer tea. Feeling a bit hungry, I added an almond croissant produced by a local bakery nearby. I love how this indie is supporting his own local businesses. Better yet, the croissant was sooooo nice right to the last bite....and of course, I scraped up all the crumbs and enjoyed that just as much. The baristas were also so knowledgeable and genuinely helpful. They took the time to walk me through their beans and helped me choose something that matched what I was looking for. It felt thoughtful without being pretentious, which I really appreciated. They seem to specialize in lighter roasts, which can be difficult to execute well, especially as espresso. It is easy for light roast espresso to come across too sharp, sour, or overly intense, but Yuan's coffee was nuanced, floral, and smooth. You can tell there is a lot of skill behind the bar. This place truly feels like a treasure and a local gem. I am honestly shocked more people are not frequenting it. I never thought a coffee shop wouldn't have a washroom for their customers. Maybe there was an issue, if they had a washroom but I didn't see anywhere you could go, to go to a washroom. Their counter pretty much covers the whole back of the place.

Behind the bar you can see an Aiden by Fellows for quick batch brewing quality beans to the standards of the specialty coffee association or quick recipe testing. The menu is predominantly descriptions of the coffees they're currently brewing with a few classic and simple coffee preparations like a latte and a cortado, but nothing too involved because they focus on the coffee itself. I really liked how they separated the coffees by flavor profile so you could key in on the type of beans and roast you prefer. They offered several natural, honey, and anerobic options, which made me happy. My friend isn't a coffee geek like I am, so it was fun to see which he gravitated to and enjoy that alongside my choice, which was totally opposite. The barista side of the shop is long and narrow, with the bar predominating, but there's a great sitting area right next door that I didn't even notice until we were leaving. Our server suggested that, because it was happy hour, a pitcher would be cheaper and save us money. I specifically asked how many ounces the pitcher was and was told 32 oz, which sounded reasonable since we planned to get 15 oz beers. When the pitcher arrived, it was clearly 64 oz. The server apologized for the mistake, and I let it go, thinking we didn't have to drink it all. However, when the bill arrived, the price didn't match the quote. We were charged $25, not the $20 we were originally told when the 64-oz pitcher showed up, with the explanation that the regular price was $35 and that we had "saved" money. In the end, we were served twice the beer we wanted and paid twice what we intended, based on information that kept changing. Whether this was incompetence or intentional, it left me feeling frustrated and uncomfortable. The food and atmosphere really were great -- but the experience was overshadowed by feeling manipulated. Enjoy the food and beer, but pay close attention to what the wait staff tells you and what ends up on the bill.

The donut was incredibly soft, and the dough had a dense, chewy texture that I really enjoyed. It reminded me of a Krispy Kreme Original Glazed donut, but bigger and less sweet. Unfortunately, the lobster roll was a letdown. It wasn't very warm, the lobster itself didn't have much flavor, tasted off and the whole sandwich was just kind of dry. Thank goodness I also ordered the prawn cocktail because it saved the meal. It wasn't anything fancy, but the prawns were a good size and gave me something I actually halfway enjoyed. Overall, I didn't have the experience I was looking forward to.
