We used Platinum Kitchens for a complete renovation. The appeal of Platinum was an all-in-one kitchen company that specializes in just kitchens. Our initial design consultation consisted of pictures and measurements in our home followed by a design presentation with a CAD rendering on the new kitchen. We were given a quote, start date with an eight week timeline for a functional kitchen. When they explained the payment schedule they made us agree to paying full payment at the end of the construction phase and before all punch list items are completed. This was a red flag to me and I should have listened to my gut. We did all the design selections in-house and that process went relatively smooth. This is done over several appointments. Appliances are purchased by the owner and installed by Platinum during the construction phase. They sent us to NorthPoint Appliance in Alpharetta and they were excellent. The construction phase started on schedule. Our project manager/general contractor assigned to us met with us the first day. During the next 8 weeks we didn't see much of him in person on the job site. He wasn't at the house to inspect the work as you would expect. We were left to answer questions from the subs or reach out to him to get the answers. Quality of work ranged from excellent to poor. Some items we were shocked that this was the final product. We were able to get them to fix many of the issues and others they refused to fix. They did deliver a working kitchen at eight weeks as promised but we had an extensive punch list of items that needed to be fixed. After collecting the final payment they assured us they would address these promptly. Our final punch list item was completed 18 months later--RIDICULOUS! In the end they did build us a beautiful kitchen but getting to the finish line was a hassle. The customer shouldn't have to be this hands on using a full service company. Additionally, the construction quality should have been better on a $75K kitchen renovation project. If we had to do another kitchen renovation we would look to use a different company. read more

Platinum Kitchens did a terrific job with our kitchen renovation. The work was professionally done and looks fantastic. We couldn't be more pleased! And they completed it before Thanksgiving which was our goal! Throughout the process they stayed in constant communication and the app was extremely helpful to see upcoming sub contractor appointments and progress. Samantha (Sam) did a great job laying out the space to maximize our smaller kitchen area and make it feel roomier. Juli was so helpful with design suggestions and we quickly got everything picked out from the cabinets, to counters and backsplash to fixtures. Our project manager, Austin, kept things on track and stayed in good communication with us via texts and visits to check on the work. We also appreciated the weekly check in calls from Lauren - she was always a pleasure. She also arranged for replacement for both of our light fixtures when one was broken by a contractor - we didn't even have to request that Platinum cover the cost of both - they just did it. We've just wrapped up a complete kitchen renovation - removed wall, moved plumbing and all appliances, etc. PKD was excellent throughout - our project came in under budget and under the projected time line. Juan, our PM, was on site frequently and his crew was professional, polite and even nice to the dog! I can't say enough about how happy we are with Platinum Kitchens. The entire experience from first meeting to completion was stellar. We certainly didn't have a large kitchen area (or budget) but the team never made us feel like we were unimportant or "just a little job". Our selection designer and project manager were not only knowledgeable about industry trends/products, but also patient, helpful, and professional. Both went out of their way to answer questions and accommodate our personal "quirks" with an easy-going attitude. We never felt like there was pressure to up-sell, "nickel-and-dime us" or the dreaded bait-n-switch trick. All costs were transparent and all aspects of job logistics are handled through the project management app. so you can easily keep track of schedule and budget. As the pictures show, our dated 1980s kitchen was dark and boxy until Michael Karp arrived. He listened to our ideas, offered his own suggestions, and gave us an open floor plan concept beyond our expectations! Of course we had our challenges along the way but both our project manager, Tony, and Mike remained professional and helpful. They utilized the BuildersTrend app for communication as well as scheduling, material choices, invoices, etc--it gave us easy access to the whole project. Contrary to other reviews, we had no difficulty communicating by email or phone. The office and design staff were always positive and helpful. The work crew was courteous and cleaned up daily. The cabinet doors to replace the discolored ones posted on my photos have still not BEEN REPLACED OR INSTALLED. this issue started in March 2021. As of today, Lauren at PK, could not give me a date when these doors can be replaced or if they are even done. Another 5 months have passed. As you look back you can see that I had problems with PK since 2016!!!! And my kitchen is still not done, even though they have been paid thousands and thousands of dollars in 2016. My kitchen counter is still missing doors and I mean "missing" for a color match and no replacements have been installed. this has been an absolute nightmare. read more

after debate and due diligence, we contracted with PK&D for our kitchen remodel in sept of '23 with a start/demo date at the end of november. we chose platinum because from the very first meeting with samantha, i felt the company was interested in fulfilling my vision. now, after almost 2 months living in our new kitchen, we are thrilled with the results. the design was exactly what i asked for and a team of designers helped me pull it all together, listening, suggesting options, answering my many questions, and supporting me throughout the decision making process. i chose my own sink, faucet, and appliances from outside vendors which i appreciated. i was determined to stay under budget and i am happy to report i was successful. our project manager kevin kept us informed and promptly answered texts. each and every craftsman that came into our home was professional, considerate, and pleasant to work with. i do not have a single complaint about the quality of work-- the cabinets were installed expertly, the painter took pains to match trim color, our backsplash tile is laid out beautifully. the punch list was completed promptly. the whole team from start to finish had our back and are so pleasant to work with. i highly recommend PK&D! read more

FORGET WHAT YOU'VE HEARD, WE REALLY JUST DO KITCHENS! Due to concerns generated from the reviews, I had decided not to visit this particular company. However, they carried a specific cabinet, (Kith) that my husband wanted to see so away we went. After browsing around for a while, we met with Mike and he talked to us about cabinet construction and features. We were actually able to see examples of the framed, (sturdy) and unframed (cheaper) options. Although it is difficult to believe that someone would actually choose a poorly constructed cabinet over a quality one, they may because less frame means more space in the drawers and cabinets. We really appreciated Mike's time but it is clear that they really only design and remodel kitchens because these are the big ticket items and how they make money. So, if you just want cabinets, you should probably choose a different company. After speaking with Mike, we met Jane one of the designers who would help us with the specific design of our cabinets. As we continued looking at their cabinet options, we noticed that many of the the stains used either didn't have a depth of color or just seemed to be applied unevenly so that there is great variation in the finished project. This was very clear as we observed one of their staged kitchens. I don't know if this is an intentional treatment of accident but it just didn't fit our personal aesthetic. Although the display or sample is not always indicative of the type of work that will be done on your particular project, it should be because what else are you basing your opinion on? I can't help but think that if the sample is sloppy, my piece will be sloppy. Eventually, we decided that they just did not have what we were looking for so we will continue to explore our options. This place is great if you want a country, white or shabby chic kitchen because they had a nice selection of distressed cabinets in various colors and stains. Their white bath vanity system was actually one of my favorites. There was nothing shabby about this piece and it was actually very nice as was the laundry display. In other words the lighter pieces were fine but the ones with stain just weren't as attractive. Things that gave me pause: Their manufacturer is located in Alabama. I really prefer local services because if there is a problem, it can be easily addressed and a lot of businesses will allow you to visit your piece and see the work in progress which is nice. It takes five weeks to get two vanities completed and delivered so imagine how long it would take to get a completed kitchen? Too long! Read those reviews again. Movin on! read more

Mike and Leslie Karp are absolute class acts! The best in the business! We loved every moment of the renovation process. From the first moment we met Mike, he was working for this to be a no hassle experience. I had done some preliminary appliance searching and did not have a good experience with the vendor. Mike had it fixed before the hour was up! This was indicative of my whole experience with them. We loved visiting the design studio to pick out all the cabinetry. The men who worked on the kitchen were diligent, thorough, helpful, and neat. The usage of my kitchen is just as I had imagined. On our final walk-through, any small defects were completely restored. I wish everyone could have such. A wonderful experience as we did. To top it all off, our daughter had a medical emergency in between the scheduling and the install, and Platinum Kitchens was no less than extraordinarily gracious and supportive. read more

We engaged PKD to renovate our kitchen starting on 6/19 and did it turn out to be a nightmare. After reading the reviews on various websites, it seemed like a no-brainer to use them but it just goes to show that you can't always believe what you read. PKD sales team (as well as their website) lead you to believe that it is a 4-6 week process and that your kitchen will be functional within 3-4 weeks but not finished barring any "surprises". The only major "surprise" after the demo with our kitchen was that we might need a new subfloor; however, we told them prior to the start of the project (i would hardly call that a "surprise") that we would probably just replace it given how old it was with several layers of other flooring on it. On the 2nd day around midday, the crew left and we didn't hear back from them as, according to the project manager, he was trying to find some piece of equipment that he thought he could use to "level" or "salvage" the old subfloor. PM indicated to us he would have a quote to replace the subfloor and insulation by the COB on 6/23. We didn't get the quote until 6/26 which they put into Builder Trend and we approved that same day 6/26. After they completed the demo, 9 construction bags and the old subfloor sat on the side of our house for 5 weeks (we had to ask multiple times to have it removed). Everything was a "rush" and the delays were of their own doing- We met with their Operations Manager and Construction Manager to hit the reset button 3 times and things progressively got worse and I terminated them on what would have been Week 7, Day 2. In fairness to PKD, this project manager did suffer a significant foot injury at another job on Week 4, Day 4; however, we had to contact him and find that out, not the other way around. That is a theme we experienced with them the whole time - we had to ask them about things, etc. and then they reacted. Totally reactionary, not proactive at all. We didn't even hear from the PM's boss until week 4, day 5 at 4:06PM (Friday afternoon) and it was a very vague email - not even a phone call about the injury with no time frame to complete. I hired the necessary licensed electricians and plumbers to complete and in multiple cases re-do their work as it was not correct and in some areas, not up to code. Examples include the garbage disposal being put in backwards, the tile for the kitchen floors not being level as well as the grouting. I got the kitchen finished in 3 business days and who knows how much longer that PKD would have taken. Two more things: on several occasions before the relationship deteriorated beyond repair, I asked 3 separate times to meet with Michael & Leslie Karp and was told they were out of town by one representative of PKD and the other PKD representative took a voice message from me and told me that they would get back to me - They never did. Secondly, their people showed a total lack of common courtesy and respect for our property. Their project manager destroyed our drainage system from the gutters by backing his van over the drain thus leaving us to repair it. The trash which I previously mentioned attracted bugs over the 5 weeks it was left there. They got ceiling paint in the pine straw in our back yard. On the morning after I terminated PKD, I walked out in my back yard to get my dogs to come in. I have a tool shed in my backyard and when I walked over there, I saw my dogs sniffing at something. When I got closer, I could tell it was the grout and flooring waste from my kitchen floor. To say I was angry would have been an understatement. I cannot believe that they did that and dumped waste like that there, knowing full well we have dogs (I have attached a picture). Every time I brought up an issue to their Operations Manager, she replied "was the job done?" well, yes but it was done incorrectly and for the kind of money we had paid PKD to date we expected a lot more and things to be done correctly which is what they claim to market and represent. Even when the project started going sideways and way behind schedule, we were more than accommodating to them to try and get it back on schedule including letting them work on Saturday and even on a Sunday. We let the project manager stay until 8-9PM every night to try and help him get back on track (he didn't show up until 10:30 AM or so most days). When I discussed that with the Operations Manger, she tried to make that my problem. I couldn't believe they would try and blame me but they did. Not one time did anyone from PKD ever say "I'm Sorry" or anything along those lines. I have attached some pictures and have plenty more (as well as correspondence) because I can't make the things that happened with this project up. Terrible customer service Project was completed 3 months after the date in the contract mostly due to lack of follow up from office staff I sincerely wish the PKD office team had demonstrated the type of persistence and follow up during the project as they did when the final payment had to be collected There were 5 people assigned to the project but to get a response was more painful than pulling molars without anesthesia It is also clear that the owner is not interested in improving the service; otherwise I would have heard from him after multiple requests The office staff was trying to shift the blame on the contractor and his crew. The only person who was prompt in his response and follow up was The contractor and I have no complaints about his work, communication The communication problems started with the plans when I have repeatedly asked the layout designer to let us know about the size of the window we will be able to fit. I did not get a response (and my phone calls were simply ignored) until the contactor showed up in my house for demolition. This delayed us by at least two weeks because the window manufacturer required 6 weeks from the time order was placed to delivery. I explained this to our project manager when we were drafting the plans! But no help there I have also requested manager's help input on the fridge we were purchasing by sending her model#. I got a short response that as long as the fridge was counter depth, it would work After we purchased the fridge, she informed me that given the fridge design (door in door), it would be sticking into our doorway (like it was no big deal). I would have much rather had this information before we purchased the fridge! I had to work with the crew on site to adjust the plans and shift the door opening to avoid the fridge door protruding into the opening When I ordered an appliance garage, I was shown a floor model which would have been adequate for the appliances I had (toaster and coffee maker; and we had measurements for both) The appliance garage delivered did not fit even my small coffee maker, so I had to lower my expectations of what the cabinet would be used for The cover door for the dishwasher was not ordered in a timely fashion (office staff was busy playing solitaire); pull out drawers for my pantry were also not ordered When the order finally arrived (already a month post already revised project end date), the wrong size products were delivered. Not sure how something as simple as drawer size could have been mixed up given that all the cabinet measurements were in the records It took another month without even a phone call received from the office, when I finally called to remind that the project was still not finished. It was very obvious from my conversation with the project staff that they simply forgot to check and notify the crew that he can pick up what was delivered and finish the project. The dishwasher cover still was not ready and took another round of phone calls to get the to deliver Through the course of the project, I had to call the office every week to ask about what was the plan for the following week. The response was "I will check and get back to you " but I never heard back or received any updates there was an army of office staff assigned to the project but from my perspective , I don't think they've had any contribution to the project and to this day, I don't know what their roles were (playing solitaire) The communication with the office has improved miraculously when we reached the point of the final payment A good friend of mine recommended this company to me and she had a very different experience, although years ago I would never recommend this company to anyone After paying more than 50k for the project, you should not be left with so many frustrations and negative feelings read more

They designed and redid our kitchen 2.5 years ago. We love it! Everything was great. This month we had an issue with two of cabinets. I looked into fixing them myself but I'm not too handy. We called them and sent them some pictures of how they were broken. They sent someone out and fixed both of the cabinets, and reinforced all of the other ones just in case we have the same issue in the future. Based on the snarky, condescending and insulting replies from owner Mike Karp to the reviewers here, you can clearly see what you will be up against if you use Platinum Kitchens, which I strongly advise against. Mike's design was very nice and the showroom is gorgeous and staff very helpful. The nightmare began with installation. Our project manager never showed up and when he did, it was for about 10 minutes then he left. I pretty much managed all the subs. If I questioned or challenged anything with regards to service or quality control, I was treated in a condescending manner. I was even called a liar because I noted the kitchen island was crooked. I was right, it was crooked. We were lied to repeatedly by our PM with regards to how vents were capped and our vent hood was sealed. He basically took the easy way out. THEIR own HVAC guy had to confirm it was done wrong! They were completely put off that they had to fix it! My husband was routinely called profane names and management decided that because we were so "difficult", they did not complete work. Cabinets are now warped, trim is incomplete and falling off, drawers to do not glide correctly and our utility room is non-functional. If you have any background in construction, renovations or project management experience, as we have, you will NOT be happy with PK. You are NOT their "type" of customer. If you don't mind paying a premium price for sub-par service and mediocre quality and don't challenge any of their decisions or work, then by all means, use them. I ran across these reviews for Platinum Kitchens. What is upsetting to me is that 6 other people found this "helpful". You are ruining the reputation of reputable business. We lived in our house 28 years when PK did our kitchen reno in January 2016. This was not our first rodeo and my husband is more than skeptical with anything he considers "shady". They were to start on a Monday at 9:00. Arrived at 8:45 and in 45 minutes all cabinets were removed. In 10 days we had a working kitchen and we were back in business in 3 weeks. New cabinets, counter tops, island, designed desk area, smoothed ceilings, lighting. Marianne, I know things happen-workers don't show up when they say they will. Years ago, we had a contractor stop in the middle of a project and left us without counter tops right before Thanksgiving. Sometimes things aren't as seamless as you would like, but we found with the project manager and following the project online, we were always in the loop. James? Shame on you. Meeting with Mike was not a dog and pony show. When you spend that much money on a kitchen, you DO need to sit down and, with their guidance, draw up a plan. He said to us, "You give me your input, I'll give you mine and I promise when we are done today, we will both be happy." I had a budget when choosing granite, counter tops, sink, etc. and I stuck to it. There are too many variables when designing a kitchen to give a flat rate. Very sad day - I was really looking forward to the Platinum Kitchens difference we hear about. During the first return call, I was told our house was over an hour away and was therefore outside their service area. We now live in Mableton about 10 minutes from Suntrust Park. I lived in Alpharetta for a few years, and my tax accountant is still there, which was a 45-minute ride back in March... business must be good. But aside from our sadness over missing the opportunity, perhaps a suggestion is to place the "service area" cities on the web site. That would have minimized the disappointment we felt today. Just received a nice post from one of the owners. The limitation is said to be on the web site, so I appreciate that, although I didn't see it readily. Very responsive and should be indicative of their normal response approach. Changed rating accordingly. read more

I recently moved to the area and bought an older home and really never gave much thought to review a company until my experience with Platinum Kitchens. We found Platinum via their radio adds and called them. The designer came out to our house and walked through the kitchen and talked with us about what we liked and didn't like. They left and stated they would be in touch to setup a meeting to come into their office for an overview of the design, materials, types of finishes, tiles, everything that would be needed. We spent a number of hours with the designer and selections designer. This was a pleasant experience, they answered our questions, provided expertise and feedback in an helpful manner. We made a number of our selections at that meeting and followed up our designers a few days later after my wife and I discussed our options. About a week before the start date we received an email that contained our start date, Project Manager information and other contacts if we had any questions or concerns. On our start date the Project Manager showed up on time which is good as I am stickler for maintaining a schedule, after some introductions and some instructions demo began. After prepping the area with plastic to prevent dust and debris the demo went rather quickly. I received a call during the week of cabinet install from Elizabeth the operations manager that stated one of the boxes had been damaged during shipping and if I would like to continue with the install as scheduled or if I would like to postpone it till the replacement came in. She stated that it could take about 2 weeks to get the replacement and that the crew would complete what they could. I decided to move forward with the install and just have the replacement installed once it arrived. After this little hiccup which was not even Platinum's fault the rest of job went as planned, except for some minor issues that always popup in these kinds of projects. Any questions or concerns my wife and I had, all we had to do was call one of the contacts provided to us and the information was provided. This is the second kitchen renovation I have gone through and even through the damaged cabinet in shipment, some minor issues that always pop up during a renovation I could not be happier with the finished product. The quality is wonderful, finishes are spot on, and the experience with the Platinum team was awesome. My only problem, they do not travel to other states. I will definitely be recommending Platinum to anyone that asks me if I know of a good kitchen renovation company. read more

Platinum Kitchens - I used Platinum Kitchens as a result of the endorsement of Kevin Avery on 104.7 The Fish radio station. Platinum Kitchens promises your own kitchen design and your own kitchen design consultant. Michael Karp comes out to your house and creates a design. Once we contracted, that is the last time we proactively heard from him. The design consultant is another misconception. I asked the consultant to come out to my house and she never had time to do that. We feel like we basically picked everything without any real consultant advice. The work was scheduled to take 6-8 weeks and it took 5-6 months to final completion. We had problems along the way (all of which we had to point out), appliances that wouldn't work with the design, appliances installed incorrectly, knicks and dings in cabinetry. We still have cabinet drawers that hit the oven as they are opened. All problems were eventually corrected with the exception of the drawers that continue to hit the oven as they are pulled out. Although we were told the owner knew of the problems we were experiencing, we had to continue to communicate with him as he did not proactively communicate with us. You would think that after a customer experienced problems with their kitchen makeover and it took a significantly extended period of time to complete, the owner would reach out personally at some point, especially after completion. That would have made all the difference in our experience. I have been asked by several friends and co-workers if I would recommend Platinum Kitchens to them. My answer is "no" unless you want to work with a company that you have to point out all of the things that are wrong and figure out how to deal with things that won't work with the personal kitchen design that was created for your kitchen by them for you. read more

I am so happy with the quality of cabinets designed by Platinum Kitchens. My husband and I are renovating our home in Virginia, including an entire kitchen redesign. This was a huge challenege for us as it was our first kitchen renovation. PK&D gave us various options and suggestions on best layouts, drawer/cabinet/appliance locations to optimize our small-ish kitchen area. Our deisgn consultant was very quick to respond to all our questions. Cabinets arrived on time and are absolutely beautiful! We're thrilled with our new kitchen. Let me start by saving that I love my kitchen, it is beautiful, but it has been a ROYAL pain to get it done. My kitchen was started on July 29, 2018 and today is November 19, 2018 and IT IS STILL NOT FINISHED!!! I have stayed on top of Platinum Kitchens, to no avail. Granted all that is left now is punch list items, but you are told your kitchen will take 4-6 weeks and that is just not the truth. My kitchen was completely unusable for 6 weeks - during that time I was lucky if they came to work on my kitchen once per week. I did not have an elaborate remodel, no movement of any major lines. We only had one hiccup with a pipe and that was found on Day 1 (not PKD's fault - we didn't know where the pipe was until they took down the cabinetry). We are at the 20 week mark and I am still having to think about staying on top of PKD for my kitchen. While I love my kitchen, I would not use them again because I just don't have time in my schedule to deal with a company that obviously doesn't care about their clients. read more

I cant speak for the quality of their work but I can tell you there is something shady about their approach. I had a total of 5 kitchen designers look at my kitchen. Everyone but Platinum was very forthcoming in what things will cost and the quality they provide and each designer (except for Platinum) provided a quote after drawing up a plan. Platinum refused to give us a quote in advance even though they sent two designers out and knew exactly what we wanted. Instead they insisted my wife and I to come into their showroom and listen to a 1 hour presentation (dog and pony show in my mind) before they would price us. I told them they had all the measurements and specifics so if I couldn't at least get a ballpark price, then that means they are not being transparent, flexible, nor accommodating to a very simple request. I have been around the block too many times and have had too many bad experiences with companies that are not transparent in their approach. I told Platinum my time and my wifes time is very important and that I didn't want to go sit through a presentation just to get a price that was higher than we wanted to spend (and then have them pull high pressure tactics which is notoriously associated with companies that won't give you a price up front.) Their response was "we won't bend on our policies" and "well, your not the kind of customer thats a good fit for us." I personally think their kind of customer is the uninformed and easily persuaded type. I think their tactics and business ethics are purely unethical.
