I was lucky to get a last minute appointment this past Saturday with Anna. Upon arrival, I had a…read morevery comfortable feeling. The salon had a clean, boho vibe and I love the color scheme. It's the same as my house! Anna was finishing up a haircut on a young man. I tried to be inconspicuous, but I watched and listened carefully to her asking him his thoughts. She stopped and allowed him to check every section. That impressed me because you get a little nervous meeting a hairstylist for the first time. Next, it was on to me. I was contemplating for months letting my gray roots grow out to (becoming grayage) the point where I was literally depressed. I didn't like it at all because I really wasn't ready for "that look". So Anna sat me down and we chatted about my current blonde shade, my darker tones underneath and what I envisioned looking like at the end of my appointment. She meticulously checked my (previous) cut and fixed a few disconnected sections. She suggested that my roots be the same color as my darker tone and then would add a few low lights to break up the blonde for some dimension. We chatted throughout the entire appointment and unbeknownst to us, we have so many connections- as if something in the (h)air brought us together. Her blowout was literally the best one I've ever had. Well, feeling beautiful is an understatement!! She did exactly what I wanted, and I walked out feeling more confident than I ever have leaving a salon. She is a beautiful, young, talented, new stylist, but her heart, soul and expertise makes you think she's been doing hair professionally for years!! It's been over two years since I've had any color in my hair. While I have no grays yet, and all my…read moreold highlights have completely grown out, it was time to get some refreshing new accents added to my hair. Heidi is such an excellent stylist. I reached out to make an appointment earlier this week, I went to see her today. Atelier Salon is a beautiful space. The inside is decorated in a neutral color scheme, with full sized mirrors. I was the only client there this afternoon. Heidi first shampooed my hair, she is super gentle. Then she went on to apply the foil highlights. We chatted about life, and caught up, since the last time we saw each other. I sat under the dryer for a few short minutes. Then she washed my hair again and added the Biolage conditioner. After the final rinsing, I could see my new highlights. She then blow dried my hair and styled it. My new hair is so lightweight, luminous, fresh and eye catching. This is all thanks to Heidi at Atelier Salon. I will be back, as soon as it's time for another refresh.

But that all changed when I did my extensive research and asked Upstyle to be a part of my wedding day. I teared up immediately when I saw how I looked on my special day--all thanks to the Upstyle team. I had never felt more beautiful (while still feeling like myself) after getting my hair and makeup done. It is not uncommon for Asian brides to have doubts about how they will look after makeup, but I want everyone to know that Jessica's talent knows no bounds. She understood my vision and made me look exactly how I wanted to look and (somehow using her magic) more. There really aren't enough words to describe the immense joy (and relief) I felt after being in Jessica's chair. I also got beyond lucky to have worked with Jessie. I had asked for changes to my updo after my trial, and she worked with me throughout the entire morning of my wedding to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. Just like Jessica, she understood my vision right away. She made me feel so incredibly comfortable, really listened to what I was looking for, and was invested (as if she were me) in how happy I was on my wedding day. There is no question that they are the best in the game. What is also worth noting is how fun and warm they are to everyone in the room. Even though it was my second time meeting them (first time was during my trial), it was as if I asked two of my super close friends to help me do my hair and makeup. Jessica and Jessie used their charm and wit to even communicate with my non-English speaking mother to give her exactly what she wants. That's how fantastic they are as people and as artists. People say they feel the wedding blues after everything is over; I do too, of course, but what contributes to those blues is how much I miss them. I made some excellent decisions for my wedding day, and asking Upstyle to work with me was on the top of my list.

Keep in mind, I never met personally with anyone in this salon, I never did a phone consultation, and I never got to do a trial. We have been working with Connecticut's Attorney General since November 2020 (it is now end of March 2021) to try to get a refund/work out a payment plan to get our money back. I understand businesses were affected by the pandemic, however, this salon provided ZERO services and has no moral issue withholding our money. Let me repeat, ZERO services were offered by the salon. The Attorney General said we are not the first to complain about this salon-BEWARE.
