Testament to the quality of this company: I've been stranded here for three hours now. When I called asked them to come they said they would be here in 30 minutes. Ten minutes after they said they'd be here, I called and they said it would be another half hour. I waited a half hour, and they said it would be another 25-30 minutes. They seem very sorry about it, but when I called the first time they said they were coming from Kirkland, about 20 minutes away. And it's taking him over an hour and a goddamn half to get here. read more

Well they were well over an hour late and I never received a call explaining their delay. This is after waiting 90min in the first place in the middle of a weekday afternoon. The poor reviews here often mention similar issues. Do not recommend. I called them several times for updates and was told each time the driver was a random number of minutes away, and that he would call me. He never had my correct number. To be fair, when the driver, Jesse, arrived, he was very nice and professional. It's the scheduling and customer team that is a total fail at this company. Had to use my insurance's roadside assistance yesterday and this was the company they picked. Was told they would be there between 3:30-4:00. At 4:30 pm I called to check the status and was told 20 mins. The driver was just finishing up another call. Ok. No problem. Called at 5:00 to check the status. Driver was stuck in traffic and would be there in 15 mins. Fine. I understand. Friday night traffic. Called at 5:30, driver stopped to get gas because he wanted to make sure he had enough gas due to the distance my car was being towed (14 miles). Driver would be there 10-15 minutes. 5:55--Driver had just dropped off the car he had been servicing. Wait. What? I thought he was getting gas and coming to pick up my car?! Fine. Whatever. Driver would there in 20 minutes. Got mad as o my insurance company dispatched another tow truck. ETA 45 minutes. Plantinum Towing FINALLY showed up a little after 6 pm. No apology. The 2nd tow truck? The one that was estimated to arrive within 45 minutes? Showed up 2 minutes after Plantnium Towing (so approximately 15 minutes after they were called.). Only reason I didn't use the 2nd company was because my car was already hooked up and the driver and my friend who decided to ride with him were heading out of the parking lot. Wasted 2.5 hours of my time, gave varying reasons why he wasn't there when he said he'd be there, and absolutely no apology. Next time I need RA, I definitely will ask which tow company they're using. If it's Plantnium Towing, I'll pass and find a different company. Side Note: The driver wasn't rude or anything. He just acted like he didn't care that he was so late. read more

So I locked my keys in my car and my roadside assistance got these guys for me. This was at 6pm. Between me calling them and letting them know exactly where my car is and that my phone Is dead o waited at my car for them to show. It is now 11pm and still no help. I walk to the bar closest to me to call them and they say they have been to my vehicle and tried calling me. All lies. I state that I'm gonna be upset if they charge my roadside and the dispatcher say that I threatened him and hung up on me. Worst. Experience. In. My. Entire. Life. Looked up the yelp reviews too late but I will never be using this company again. If you want efficiency and no extra hassle when dealing with situations that are already stressful, keep looking. Had my car towed home from work yesterday, and called them at 12:55. Took me calling three times because the lady hung up immediately the first time, and the second time put me on hold before hanging up again. I was given an eta of an hour, not once telling me the drivers were busy with other tows. 1.5 hours later at 2:25 I called to check the status and was told the driver had been en route to me for a while and would be there shortly, which I had never received a call about. The driver showed up at 2:53 and was very nice and got everything done quickly. After paying I was told by the receptionist that I would receive my receipt via email by 4:30. By 10am this morning I hadn't gotten it and gave them a call. The woman from before answered and said she had been busy and was taking care of it right then. I was told 5 minutes until I got it, 3 hours later still nothing. I called again and was told by a manager that it was being taken care of right then and to call back if I didn't get it. Less than five minutes later I got a call from the first woman, claiming it hadn't been sent out because they didn't have my license plate number which they never asked me for at any point. Looking at the receipt it took a full 20 minutes to even place my request in the system after my call. Just ridiculous to have to deal with in the middle of car trouble. read more

I didn't call them directly for a tow, my roadside service did. They gave a 90 minute wait at first, but didn't show. An hour after they were supposed to be there, we called and they said they would be there in 20 minutes. They still never came, called again, added another 20 minutes to the time. Four hours after we originally called for a tow, they stopped answering my calls. I called my roadside service, and they called them. They told them it was going to be another hour. OMG. They seemed to be taking higher paying calls ahead of us, pushing back our time over and over again. We were super late returning our Uhaul and this completely messed up our day. They should have just told us they didn't want our business. We ended up just canceling the tow and having to get a different one (WITH A DIFFERENT COMPANY) the next day. read more

It wouldn't be a Friday the 13th without good ol' Jen locking her keys in her car. Called my credit card company who set up roadside assistance with Platinum Towing. Since it was roughly 5:00 and I was stuck in the heart of downtown, I was pleasantly surprised to hear Platinum inform me that it would only take an hour and a half to get a technician out to me. Platinum ended up doing some voodoo/magic because they showed up 15 minutes early and even gave me a courtesy call (saving me from waiting out in the cold by my car). Driver was very polite, helpful, and had a cool haircut. Took him about 9 minutes to unlock my car and I was able to make it dinner with friends on time. read more

Great Experience Car didn't start and needed a tow. Called the roadside service via insurance provider and was paired up with Platinum Towing. ETA was 2 hours (during rush hour). Waited about an hour and called Platinum Towing to be sure I was on their "list". Woman who answer was handling multiple calls and seemed really busy but did take the time to confirm that my car was on their work order. She said driver Richard was in route and is about 15 minutes away. She was professional and polite and really nice. Driver Richard followup with a call as he got closer. He was professional and polite as well. He hooked up my car and got it to the shop with no issues. The tow job was complete within the 2 hours time frame. Great customer service! read more

STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM THIS TOWING COMPANY. I called Roadside Assistance through my auto insurance and they sent Platinum Towing out to my car. The disbatcher continuously told me they would be at my car within the hour and it took over 7 hours for them to show up. From there, I was sitting in my car all day in Capitol Hill. I got out of my car for 10 minutes to take my dog for a walk and use the bathroom. When I came back I notice giant white scratches and scrapes on the left side of my car. I asked the tow truck driver if he side swiped my car since the damage wasn't there when I got out of my car. He had a smirk on his face and said umm no. After, he left (without helping me). Mercedes Roadside assistance ended up being able to change my tire after I called them after waiting 6 hours. I went into a shop after the driver left and asked for the security footage for where my car was parked. The only white vehicle that drove past my car within that time frame was this tow truck. In the video you can that the driver has a hard time cutting the corner and when the tow truck hits my car because he all of a sudden stops, opens his driver side door, backs up a little and then pulls forward. However because you can't see the actual touching of the tow truck and my vehicle, this is now being considered a hit and run. Two of the workers at the tattoo shop ended up letting me know they saw it happened too. When I called Platinum Towing to report the incident today, their manager said this driver Robert Rodriguez (possibly a different last name) had been fired due to reckless driving and complaints from other customers. When I asked what his name was again the manager said ohh I'm actually not suppose to give out full names. I asked for the owner of the business to give me a call back so we'll see if they take any responsibility for damages their driver caused to my car. Update: No returned called from the company and I'm still dealing with my auto insurance to get this taken care of. read more

Do not use them! My insurance company set up me with them for a tow within 3 miles. The appointment was made on a Tuesday evening and they were supposed to call me the next morning. When they didn't call by 11am, I called the adjuster and she got an ETA for 12:01pm. They didn't show up at 12 and didn't notify me. So I called them directly and then said they'd be arriving at 12:35pm. Still no show, so I called them again and they said they'd be arriving another 30 min later. They were late by about 15 min the 3rd time. Then the driver was anxious to get me to sign the waiver and wouldn't let me read what I was signing for. He did the tow alright but drove too fast for a tow truck. By the time I got to the repair shop, it was too late for my appointment. read more

I was threatened and cursed out by a gentleman from Platinum Towing who had been illegally parked doing nothing for over an hour on the private alleyway which leads to my building's garage. When I asked him to reverse so I could access my building, he became irate and started walking towards me shouting homophobic insults and telling me to "move the f**k out of the way before he pushed me out." I was forced to back out onto the oncoming traffic on Denny Way and he still decided to cut in front of me and block me from moving my car out of danger for several minutes while he shouted more insults. My insurance scheduled for this place to pick up my car. I got a text saying it would take 90min. They never showed up in that time frame. I called them asking what was up and they just said sorry that another tow was taking a long time. It was supposed to be towed to an auto shop by my house but since they didn't seem like they'd make it there by the time it closes I said we might as well reschedule. They declined and just kept saying "we'll see how long it takes to finish this first job" I requested them to call me if they aren't able to tow it there in time since i don't feel safe with my car in their yard over the weekend but they never did. I had to go through my insurer to cancel them and requested a new tow company. Very unprofessional and non courteous. Even after canceling they still came over an hour later and I declined their service at that point again. read more

It does not get any worse than these guys, if they showed up again and I was desperate, I still wouldn't let them touch my car. Lela who is supposedly in charge told me she'd email/call me back at least a dozen times in which she never did, had to hold her hand the entire time. Anthony, the owner, said he would call me and good thing I didn't hold my breath, he didn't call either! They approved the damage claim on my Audi then backed out when it came time to pay. These guys took over 2 hours, couldn't find my car, called me several times and were rude, hung up on me, wouldn't answer their phone and also took my car to the wrong location where it's locked behind a gate and no one knows where the keys are because the driver is 'off duty' so no one can call me back. So I discovered why Platinum Towing is not the most reliable...But this is only from a standpoint in which I used my insurance provider's roadside assistance for help for my wife's car. Your insurance provider looks for the cheapest towing there is, obviously to save them money. Platinum is the cheapest. But you get what you pay for...or in my case, don't get what's paid for at all. Platinum was dispatched, but canceled SIX hours after. So I called my insurance provider, and they said that there was no cancellation on their end. So apparently, and I have confirmation on this from both my insurance provider AND other towing companies, Platinum receives payments from insurance companies just for accepting the call service. So even if they never show up, they get paid. And if Platinum tells you otherwise, they're lying. Also, they hire just about anybody, and I mean ANYBODY. This fact was also confirmed (I like to do my research). A week later, my car broke down. When I called my insurance company, I asked to make sure they use anyone BUT Platinum. Sure enough, the tow company, that wasn't Platinum, showed up 15 minutes after my call. read more

If there was a 0 Star option I would selected it. I felt preyed upon by this business which demonstrated no value in ethics or customer service. My insurance company used this place to tow my car to a body shop. Due to an error on the location my insurance company gave them to take the car the tow company took the car to its tow lot, which is fine. However, when my insurance company on the same day gave them the correct address the tow company gave them the run around for four days. Either the dispatcher is completely incompetent, or they purposely held the car to collect a daily storage fee. Keep in mind they were paid for the initial tow and would be paid to tow it to the new location. Over the course of four days they said it was at the initial location provided, then they said they couldn't find it, then they lied about waiting for POs or documents which were never requested. When asked to speak to the owner they were not there or available. If you have the unfortunate luck of doing business with them, then I am sorry and hope you do not have your car held hostage, so they can make a few extra bucks! read more

My car battery was dead. Went online at Geico to request service, a bit later there is an update that Platinum Towing will arrive within one hour. Well after one hour of waiting I called Platinum Towing. I explained the situation, after some time on the phone the lady tells me that the driver is on his way and will be here in around 25 minutes. Now I'm not that far away from them, and this is in midday, so no traffic. Basically, they did not dispatch anyone, until I called. I then call Geico to let them know that I still have not received service., and this is what pissed me off, the young girl on the phone tells me that they are late because of traffic. There is no traffic I looked it up on Gmaps. The 25-minute marks came and went and still no service. After 2.5 hours after I made the request, I texted one of my neighbors to see if they are available to give me a boost. They were not home at that time but will be by in a little while. So my neighbor showed up and gave me a boost and I was on my way. then probably an hour later, while I was still driving I get several calls, but I did not answer them, because I'm driving, but they were from Geico making up all sort of excuses. Later that day I emailed Geico to let them know that service was never received from Platinum Towing and to let them know what I thought of their service, and that this was the 1st time I ever used this service but pied for it for years. So the next day I shopped for new car insurance, found more coverage for less money than Geico. So thanks for crappy service Geico and Platinum Towing. read more

I got a flat tire in the ID and wasn't in a huge rush, so I called up AMEX Roadside Service to change out the tire versus doing it myself. Platinum Towing ended up being the company that was dispatched. The estimated arrival was for 8:28PM and a truck showed up at 8:21PM. The guy changed out the tire in 15m flat and we were on our way. Was almost hit by one of their tow trucks on Saturday and have been trying to get in touch with management to no avail. Turned onto a narrow road and one of their drivers was stopped in the middle, making it impossible for either of us to go through. Before either of us could move to the side, the driver flashes his lights at me and immediately began to charge at us. I had to quickly swerve into a driveway to avoid him hitting us head on. The driver risked injuring my passengers and I, as well as ruining my car. I immediately called the company and was told by the dispatcher that a manager would call me. Monday morning came and no one had called. I called the company again and was told a supervisor would call me back as soon as they were off of another call. Several hours pass and no one called me. I called again and got through to a supervisor who seemed annoyed that I was having an issue with the company and seemed unconcerned that I had been ignored now twice. I've been told yet again that a manager will be calling me... But I'm not holding my breath. Long story short I would not trust my vehicle to a company with this poor regard for doing the right thing and this level of arrogance. Unbelievably bad service. Evidently Platinum is a new name for the Metro Towing...they changed names presumably to outrun the stench of their poor reputation. Newer Audi Q5 died. My Allstate Roadside Assistance policy is supposed to cover towing so I called them about 3:45 PM. The confirmed that they were 60 minutes out. Ok...so I waited in the parking lot. And waited. Several calls yielded excuses and more promises. At one time, I was told that they were a contract towing company for the state and were required to respond to calls made by Dept.of Transportation, which caused some delays. Plausible...so I waited. At 8:30 PM, I place another call, only to be told that they were indeed on their way and it should be 15 minutes. At 9:37 PM, I pulled the plug and cancelled the call with Allstate. They said to pay out of pocket,and seek reimbursement. So, I just received the details for the reimbursement, and there is a $100 maximum benefit for reimbursement. My tow bill with the AWESOME Big "D" Towing Company was $180....evidently it cost more for after hours calls. Thanks a load Platinum. Not only did you ruin my entire evening after suffering a car breakdown, but you also cost me $81.65 that cannot be reimbursed. Who the hell do they think they are? Liars? Lazy? Higher-far grubbers? IDK what their deal is, but don't call them unless you have an entire evening to wait for them, only to be serviced by another company when they don't show. How does this business model make sense for them? And by the way, they do not have a contract with the DOT...simply a load of lies to what, make me continue to sit and wait for service that they never intended to provide? Several people with the remarkably similar experiences posting crap reviews on Yelp. Good luck Platinum, or whatever your business will be called in the future when your reputation again necessitates a corporate identity/name change. The tow driver stated he did not bring his special Jag tool and used some other tool which activated the car lockout - AND - damaged the door!
