I've been to Plato's closets before and I understand it's not that serious of a shopping place. However, I dropped some clothes off today to sell and they said they'd be done in 10 minutes so I sat in my car and waited and then I got a text 20 minutes later saying they were done. I went in and they handed me the wrong box and then were confused.. then they grabbed my bags and said "these are yours?" And I said yes, knowing well they hadn't gone through them because I sat outside watching. I wasn't expecting a huge cash out, but I know my clothes would of sold if they actually took the time to look at my clothes... but instead they didn't own up to their mistake and said they didn't want anything from my bags. It's disappointing but honestly not surprising. Second hand stores, second hand employees. Oh well read more

It seems to be that they only take trendy clothing and things that are "in". I found it disappointing when the things I could only find were from Shein or Forever 21. The clothing was also overpriced for a thrift store. read more

Honestly I don't know how this specific store stays on business or up to date on styles. Everything there is always old looking, not in the best condition and overall not good selections. I've gone to sell clothing here a few times and the items they take are the ugliest out of e everything I bring. For example everything I brought in today to"sell" was Nordstrom brands, Abercrombie and a few online boutique brands. They teenager sorting through the items decided nothing was worth taking. Which is mind blowing since nothing in the items were super worn and some items never worn. I think the person that's going through the items should be an adult who is up to date with fashion and when deciding why not to take a single item it needs to be a conversation with the customer exactly as to why instead of just saying the same phrase every. Single. Time. That way we KNOW what exactly your looking for and not wasting time going to resell here. I took the exact same bag to another store that does the same thing and they took almost my whole bag. They also had better quality items at their store that weren't just meant for little girls. read more

These 2 teenagers that have the same hair are literally a$$holes. I bought a bag full of clothes and some even on brand. I bought stuff from Fashion Nova, Forever 21, vans, etc. I was waiting for like 25 mins and they said it would be a 10-15 minute wait. I looked around the store and then sat outside and the whole time they didn't tell me that my clothes were ready and one of the girls was literally sipping on her drink staring at me from the window. I went inside to ask if my clothes were done and they said yes. This whole time they were ready and I didn't receive a text or anything? Out of the whole bag of clothes, they picked 2 things. Don't waste your time here. They literally suck. I only made $4 from things that weren't even on brand or anything. read more

Brought in a 5 GAL TUB, est 10min to go through it.. figured it probably take little longer than that so I started shopping. 3MIN LATER they are "done" going through my clothes.... I mean there is no physical way! Full of name brand, etc. their loss.. on top of that the 3min I was shopping I realized it was the worse selection at a Plato's I have ever seen (FYI). Well it was my first time here ever. They took 3 of my ugliest clothing items for some reason... from 2010 but nothing from known name brands like Nike or top shop that I brought in. They said the reasoning they didn't take other items is because their inventory is full... maybe your inventory is full because you only take undesirable items... worst part is they gave me $3.50 for each item. Just go to goodwill and shop, they have cheaper and you can usually find cuter stuff there. read more

I stopped in here because I was tired of paying so much for new stuff when the cost-to-make is nearly just pennies and the styles change so quickly...Can I tell you how many cute things I picked up?!! The stuff I got was in great condition, totally current and my daughter loves it. Saved me the bundle I would've spent elsewhere. I was so thrilled because the staff was super kind and helpful as well. Frankly, I love this place. I only wish I had one closer to me! Surprised by other reviews actually. But I wasn't selling. Some girl before me got turned away trying to sell three bags of clothes that smelled like cigarette smoke. I was standing 3 feet away and could smell them myself when her bags were opened. I literally almost puked. People are absolutely insane sometimes. So gross. How nervy is that? She was actually mad at them when they refused her. Can you imagine? Really? I've been to this platos closet several times and each time i go in, one of the employees is either rude or doesn't know how to do their job. The past two times ive been in, there has been nobody in the store besides workers and i dont even get a "Welcome in!" One of the times I went in, I was selling to them and they had bought all of the items i had in the bag...then they misplaced my bag. They had lost it and they were all just looking around at eachother clueless. Then i went in today, because i had a shirt on hold and I walk in just to be told that they didnt have it anymore and it got sold yesterday. The reviews are right. Don't bring your stuff here. I came in and checked out their selection and realized it's almost identical to my own closet/the clothes I'm getting out of it. So the next day (today) I brought in a bunch of clothes (2 boxes and 3 bags). They selected 2 items, which makes me believe they didn't actually go through my stuff because I have name brand items that didn't get selected, but a sweater from dollar general that was on top DID get selected. Don't waste your time or energy. This store has a smell issue immediately when you walk through the door, almost like raw sewage, and the girls are unwelcoming. read more

I used to sell to Plato's closet all the time back home in Tucson and always got reasonable money from it. Idk if it's just cause it's been years or maybe the location/store? But it isn't the same anymore. I took clothes that were really brand new never worn etc. Just have been in my closet and they told me my clothes had wear and tear on them. Idk just kinda disappointing lol I took my $14 for the clothes they would take cause I was too lazy to take them back home but I don't think I'll ever go sell/shop at this location ever. I'd rather just sell my clothes on depop or give them to people who actually need and would use them. read more

THIS PLACE MAKES ME SO UNCOMFORTABL. Definitely the worst plato's location in arizona. Been in the store on multiple occasions when the employees are gossiping and does not make the shopping experience comfortable. one instance in particular - witnessed a customer forget their id when checking in clothes and the employees (3 of them) made snarky remarks and laughed at her. absolutely disgusting behavior and i hope management does a clean wipe of all this employees. Came in for the black friday athletic event only to see that the employees had BINS of items (probably the good items bc everything put out was old styles and in poor condition) for themselves to go through while the event was going on!!! Almost every item is from shein or a similar brand no new inventory seems to ever be put out. could say a million more things but please make a change. read more

Didn't like this place TOO MANY CLOTHES and they are kinda expensive and not good quality. But I got a nice book!

I stopped by with a suitcase full of name brand clothing. The girls at the counter were extremely rude and didn't even greet me. They told me it would be 10-15 min to go through my clothing. Of course I was thinking "there is no way they can get through this in that amount of time." But they did and here's why. They didn't even go through it. The clothing is still in the suitcase exactly how I packed it. When they were done doing nothing they were going to take 2 pairs of jeans. These were Adriano Goldschmied jeans which retail for $240 a pair. They offered me $10 for 2 pairs. Laughable to say the least. The clothing being sold there smells and looks like it has been worn for years. The store is filthy dirty. And the smell is foul. This store claims to know what's in style not true! To the owner you should maybe train your employees in the customer service area. Let's not pretend this is Neiman Marcus this is a step down for Goodwill. Look at the reviews before stepping foot in this place don't waste your time. read more

extremely hostile environment. i've bought and sold many items at this location before, but today was the last day i will be back. i walked in and had recognized a few girls i had known before and they were extremely hostile. i walked in with a smile on my face and said hello and was laughed at. after dropping off my clothes i walked around the store to find dirty and dingy clothing. i left shortly after and was expecting to wait a short amount of time before i received a text saying my order was complete. an hour had passed without any text so i walked into the store to see all 4 employees standing in a corner gossiping. i was waiting to be helped and they were looking at me but not coming to help. they told me they passed on everything which confused me because i had very nice name brand items. this leads me to believe they didn't even look, the bag of clothes had been untouched and everything was still in the exact same space. save your time and go to buffalo exchange. read more

If you are thinking about selling here, DONT. Really not worth the time and effort. I brought a basket full of stuff here, some old things and but most that have the tag on it still. The clothes that had the tag on them are all clothes that are in style, I ordered them online and just too lazy to return them if they didn't fit or look nice on me. They were super fast looking through my clothes which was nice and bought only two dresses from me for $8 total. She said some of the clothes they wanted to buy but there was an odor on them so she recommends I wash the clothes and bring them back. I was confused because again a lot of them still had the tag on them. When I asked her which clothes she was talking about she said she didn't know. No point in washing a whole basket for them to buy only two more items? When I left, I smelt the clothes because I was confused (and embarrassed) and NOT ONE item smelt, no odor, no fragrance. I'm not sure how the shopping experience is here but the selling is definitely not worth it. read more

This place is horrid all around!! I went in a few days ago to sell some stuff(which was a hassle to begin with as is, but nevermind that part). I looked around while waiting and saw a purse I liked& asked to look at it. They got done looking through my stuff and I had to leave as I had other errands planned for and didn't purchase anything right away. A few hours later I decided I wanted to go back for the purse I looked at and called to asked if it was still there & if it was I'd like to put it on hold as I would come pick it up shortly. They told me yes it's here& we'll put your name on it so you can come anytime til close. I told the girl I spoke to that I'll be there within an hour and got ready to leave. Now mind you, I live pretty far(35 min away) and it was 6pm so traffic made it a bit longer, but I was there w/in the hour of calling like I said I'd be. Once I got there I told them I was here to pick up a purse I called about/looked at earlier and then I hear 2 of them talking to eachother and looking at me like I was speaking a different language!! I told them I spoke to someone who said they put it on hold and they then told me they just sold it 20 min ago before I got there. I was told my name was put on it(who knows if that's actually true??) but someone wanted to look at it&said that was theirs and they put it on hold. Now if they even took it off the shelf/put my name on it who knows, but this is absolutely ridiculous. You would think if someone is calling about an item you'd actually put away so no other customers can buy the item/claim it's theirs. Especially if it's a high value/high price item which that purse was. I then asked them how they knew that person who bought it was actually "me" and they said "oh we didn't confirm/check we just gave it to them because they said it was theirs". Absolutely ridiculous that I drove nearly 40+ minutes AFTER putting an item on hold that they said would be there for me, for them just to sell it to another customer. A tip of advice is to actually confirm a person is who they say they are if someone wants to put something on hold(check name on ID, ask for phone #, etc...SOMETHING!!). After telling me that they basically sold my item they didn't even apologize& proceeded to ask if I wanted to see anything else as if that would just fix their screw up. Easily the first and LAST time I will ever be comming into one of these unprofessional and lying stores. read more

I usually don't find much at Plato's Closet because I wear XL but there was a great selection there. I got two pairs of pants and a few shirts. I'll definitely be coming back. Minus one star because although the staff was mostly very nice, one of them was just unfriendly and acted annoyed when I spoke to her and checked out. read more
