This store's customer service is horrible. Zero star if I could. I have made 4 attempts to come sell stuff here. Every time I call, the employee I'm speaking with never gives me the information I need in order to make this a successful trip. Today, on my 4th attempt to finally get here before they open, like they finally told me on the 3rd visit, now they tell me I can only leave ONE small bin not overflowing, after I dragged 3 of my own large bins from my car to the door. You would think letting someone know they can only use ONE of their bins would be pertinent information. I don't understand how moronic people can truly be. Another customer there with me shared the same grief. They obviously don't care about their business failing or growing and don't seem to care about buying either. I'd stay away from this store if you're trying to sell if I was you. I don't need the money so I'm not leaving this review out of anger. Just cannot understand how dense workers are these days. It's not rocket science to let a customer know all the useful information to help them have a successful experience. read more

I personally had great customer service on my last visit to Plato's closet. I always find great hidden gems at all the stores for myself and my boyfriend. It is a thrift store tho so you have to be willing to be patient and look through the racks to find those hidden gems. read more

Every time I come here it's closed. They posted a paper sign with new hours and it is still closed. I came Monday @ 11 drove past again 11:20 they're still closed. With inflation and other things going on this is a way for some people to make spare money as well as pay less to save money and we don't have access. read more

I sat there and watched every employee in here discuss how useless their manager is for 15 minutes straight not doing a damn thing . Knowing people that are selling can't leave the store . They had a sign that said they bought from 11-4, it's 2:30 and they're no longer buying they just make up hours depending on how they feel!

So the store is completely flipped around now and the prices are not great. The last time I was here which was not all that long ago they had a public restroom but now it is supposedly a storage closet and not open to anyone in dire need of urination. Thanks Christine, I felt like she was being extremely rude but guess she's just doing her job. There is no clearance rack anymore, if you are a frugal shopper like I am that is a huge disappointment. I went there with clothes I don't wear anymore. I went in and asked if they were taking clothes in and the female employee said yes. We brought in about 20 garments including activewear. The male employee refused to even go through it, he said they all looked like ladies clothes and that "they" are geared toward teens. More than half were bought in the juniors section of Kohl's, SHEIN, & Old Navy. I don't think they wanted to go through the clothes and being lazy. read more

Please save yourself the time and trouble and do not come here. Employees are extremely rude and unprofessional. I called before to verify they were accepting clothes and until what time. The employee on the phone told me they would accept clothes until 4. I arrived at the store at 3:40 and instead of being greeted, was met with a disgusted look and was told the cut off was at 3:30. The bag I brought was pretty full so I'm assuming they didn't want to sort through it but everything was washed and in good condition. She then got another employee to back her up who I assumed was the one who spoke to me on the phone and replied "I never told her that." Being someone who worked in retail for 10 years, you never embarrass or call your customer a liar and there is ALWAYS something you can do to accommodate them. I have been to this location and found good clothing for a decent price. I have had both good and bad experiences with the staff that works there. I went last Tuesday to see if I could sell some things, and they were closed with a note on the door stating new business hours, that proved they should have been open that day and time and were not. If they took more items and had more inventory and got better staff, this place would be somewhere I'd come back to as Plato's is one of my favorite places to shop. But as far as this location, it's a hit or miss for me. read more

Is this place ever open. I came by at 11 and it was a line of people waiting outside. I waited in my car for 30 minutes and there is still no change, still closed. I can a few days ago around 12ish and the doors was locked. This is terrible business read more

First I want to say they have many many options which makes them a great place to find some goodies, I just wish they had more deals during the week. The reason for the three stars is because they are super super picky about taking items, which could be a good and a bad because honestly I found a couple dresses with holes and my clothes not one had a hole which threw me off. read more

I don't know why there are so many bad reviews. From a seller's standpoint, 5 stars. I'm not a people person and the girls were super friendly and straight up. They were only buying a few types of items and they made sure to be upfront about that which is nice. Afterwards, she let me know that another location is taking much more items and suggested I got there and they ended up taking almost everything else I had. I wouldn't have gone if she hadn't suggested and I thought that was really cool. As far as finding cute clothes to buy... not be best. That's the only reason I'm only giving 4 stars. read more

Called ahead of time & asked if you needed someone 18 or older to accompany you in order to sell clothes. They tell me no, you only have to have a valid drivers license. I drive 45 minutes to this location. I come in & place my 2 giant boxes of jeans on the counter & the sells associate asks me if I'm 18. I tell her no. She then says "well you need a guardian with you to sell your clothes then" I tell her that's not what I was told prior to coming there. Then, I say "please, I'm turning 18 in 2 weeks & I drove 45 minutes to come here" she replies "congratulations, come back in 2 weeks." I came here trying to make some extra money for back to school shopping. But after the miscommunication of information & the way I was treated, I'm going to goodwill. I'm not sure why this place has no reviews yet, but I'm sure there's a lot out there like mine! This place is packed and borderline over-stuffed with clothes/shoes. You'd think by the high schoolers attitudes (yes, the staff), there'd be Louboutins galore...but think again. You have to really dig for something cute, as most vintage shops, but they do have a large selection. As far as selling your stuff, come ready to deal with little girls who have a bad attitude. I wish their manager, who looks to be a middle aged woman dressing like a high schooler, would teach her staff customer service skills. They pick through your stuff as though it's trash. It's quite apparent they choose items they like, rather than what the store may need. I've sold a few things, but the process almost isn't worth it. Waiting for someone to sift through your stuff, rudely, while you HAVE TO stay in the store and not leave, is ridiculous. Buffalo Exchange on Westheimer is so much better. read more

I was a little shocked with my experience at this place yesterday. I am new to the area but I have been to playtos closet before and from my experience they are all over high brand clothes but not this one. They only took maybe two out fits from me at this location and they made me wait in the store for 30 minutes and said I couldn't leave if I wanted them to look through my stuff. I've never had to just sit in a store because from my understanding the store is too small and they don't have enough room. However the staff was young like it usually is. First of all Customer Service SUCKS! The girls talk about their love life and what's going on in their life at the register for the entire store to hear. I know they are young, and Im young too, but its tacky when every time I come in you're dating another guy and "guys suck" and you "can't find love". Is this Sex and the City???? BUT! Let me start off by saying how slow and rude their staff are. We arrived around 3pm, we weren't acknowledged or greeted until maybe 15-20 minutes of waiting. She said that there was a limit of 1 bag per customer and tried to deny us because my boyfriend and I each brought in a bag. After waiting another 10 minutes, she came back and took our bags and told us it was going to be a 30-45 minute wait. After almost an hour, she came back and bought 12 of my boyfriends items and rejected ALL of mines. They were all Forever 21, Coach, Puma, American Eagle, Hollister, and etc., that were maybe 1-2 years old! I've had better service at the Plato's by Baybrook Mall. While I waited for them to check my purses I was trying to get rid of since I no longer use. I took a look around and found ripped shirts, ruined lace dress.... yet I was told they could not accept my purses because the brand of coach purses I had did not sell well and because I had a stain on a leather purse (my bad for not wiping it down before...) but it's okay to take ripped clothing and ruined lace items... lol read more

Dear Lord Jesus, I have never been in a worse establishment for customer service, and basic common courtesy. I've been in this Plato's almost 8 Times now, and it has never been a good experience. The last time I went in, will be the last. I went in at 10:08, they open at 10:00, thinking it will be faster, I was wrong... the young high school looking girl ignores me when I walk in, and I'm standing at the counter. Still ignores me, finally I say "excuse me?" She then looks at me irritated, and says "what, can I help you?" I was like hmm.. someone needs an attitude adjustment, y'all just opened, at least fake happy. I then tell I her I would like to sell some stuff. She then tells me it's going to be a 2 HOUR wait. It's 10:08. You cannot tell me 2 HOURS worth of people's stuff came into through that door in 8 minutes. Plus I was the second person in that store! She then says, looking at the few items at the top of my bag, " well it doesn't look like the type of items we buy anyway, so maybe it's a sign." What?!? Excuse me!!? ( not that it matters, but I had AE, Nike, J crew and other brands that were folded nicely on the top and in the bags) j had enough, I just grabbed my stuff and walked out, as I was walking out, another young high school girl stops me and says, " I need to look at your bags, since you've been walking throughout the store." Implying I stole something. I hadn't moved from the counter, the most I had moved was shifting from one foot to the other. How on Mother Earth did I magically possibly steal stuff?! I simply stood there, and then finally I left. I am beyond disgusted at the employees that are hired here. The standards are below zero for hiring. Also I understand you are in high school, so your communication, and common sense may be lacking. But apparently the people that are hired at this particular location have to been an asshole to be hired here. I don't bash businesses. I refuse too, I am always fair when writing reviews, and I always try and find a positive. But this, this is such a poor excuse for a business, and this location needs a complete turnover of employees and management. Because yes the employees are the problem, but ultimately management is to blame, management knows they are acting like this. There is no way management is that blind to this. Do better, Plato's. Also by reading all the other reviews at this particular location, I can see I'm not the only one who has had a less than stellar experience. I happened to visit Plato's Closet on June 8,2016 around 11 in the morning. The lady manager there was already overwhelmed by work( I guess). Very reluctantly she went through my clothes and found nothing, nothing at all that was worth to keep in the shop( let me add here the lady told me that she has been doing this for along time !!) When I dug out a brand new top from Koh's with the tag in tact and a red Guess tote and showed her she gave me a dirty bin to sort the clothes that I thought would qualify( to what standards??? To the standard of the store manager!!) Any finally she picked 10 items from the dirty bin which I was given to sort and I got paid. Ma'am please understand you are hurting the business by your very attitude and why be so rude to people who are bringing business to you or to anybody for that matter?You need to seriously reflect on your actions. read more
