This Plato's Closet is much improved since the move to its newest location. It's very fun shopping here, as the selection is vast and most, though not all, prices are reasonable for curated resale. If you usually go to thrift stores, some stuff may seem pricy for used. But some still will seem decent. Quality of stuff is from ok to very good. And some new with tags. I do think they sometimes take in "name" stuff like lululemon that has more wear or older styles just because of the name. While other brands, they strictly use date codes and won't take if it doesn't look close to new. Kinda interesting. One note: if you sell to them, be prepared to be in shock at the prices you get offered. It's low. Why? So they can stay in business. It's a good way to do it if you don't care and just want stuff gone. But it's often a deflated feeling because even with they're targeted brands I leave with much of what I came in with and the rest seems like pennies on the dollar. Again though, they know what sells and they know how to buy low to sell as they do and stay afloat so I don't blame them. Either way, I enjoy it and like stopping in to see what's new. I rarely leave empty handed. read more

Tried to sell two big bags of trendy clothes and they took my number and id and everything. Told me it would be a 45 min wait . I said sure so I looked around the plaza in the meantime. It's been over an hour and a half and I walk back in the store and I tell them it's been so long . The girl looks at the other girl and she tells her "well if it's on the ground it's already done" and I see my things so basically they never texted me when they were done and wasted my time. Also out of the two big bags of clothes all she took was a pair of jeans and I got $4. Is this a joke. She said it's an overstock issue . It's funny bc most things in there look so ridiculous Idek who would buy them. I've never had an experience like this at Plato's. Never again. read more

0 stars Someone needs to really look into this SCAM. I brought in 2 contractor bags full of clothes and shoes (some clothes new with tags and all of the shoes were in near perfect condition and in their original box). and 10 minutes later they had decided only 6 ITEMS were what they were willing to pay me for. 6!!!!! HA! None of which included multiple Lululemon pants, $300 Rag & Bone pants that still had the tag, Juicy sweats, Lulu tshirts, Levi Jeans, etc. I was so annoyed and confused and in disbelief that I actually accepted $14 and said "f it - donate the rest" which is something they offer to do for the rest of the clothes you bring that they aren't buying. So for free they will take the rest off your hands and donate them. Bull. I guarantee those clothes ended up either on the rack or picked through for the employees to keep. They just make that option so convenient, probably assuming most of us were going to donate it anyway. The whole point of bringing it there is that we want to get rid of it, not have to lug it back home and take care of. read more

My review has to do with the buying process. I gently took items in for sell...jeans with studs and cotton short jackets with short sleeves. They weren't purchased and I was ok with that; however, the reasoning that I was given was that they were not taking winter or holiday items. Which were not items that I took in, maybe it was another customers bag of items. Inany event accuracy is important when running a business. read more

The store was okay,a little over price. They did have some nice clothing items. It would have probably been nicer had the cashier not been rude and inattentive. That in all reality may not have been so bad but the girl continued to speak to her co worker about a wedding she was quiet belligerent. I had my 5 year old granddaughter and my pre teen while in the store. I would hope that in the future store attendant would focus on the customers. read more

Convenient location and easy parking. The store was very stuffy, but didn't smell as bad as I thought it would be. In observation, the staff are not too friendly, but fortunately I didn't need to interact with them. I came here with a couple others that wanted to look around, so I just causally observed what the store was like. A lot of the stuff is old looking ( pilled, discolored, over washed,etc), which baffles me at how "picky" they seem to be when buying stuff for resale. If they are as picky as they sound on the reviews, were they not before? I watched people come in to try to resell things and they are mostly rejected, so it does seem like a lot of effort to bring things in. Maybe I'm not the general clientele this is catering to, but I wasn't that impressed. read more

If I could give 1 star, I would. From a selling stand point, this location was a HUGE frustrating disappointment. My friend and I were both looking to sell old clothes, as they were all in great condition (some items were worn just 2-3 times) and included many name brand items (ie. American Eagle, PINK, and even Vera Wang). We both separately examined the website to find out their selling policies and Plato's advertised as taking any clothing items so long as they didn't have damage, and looked like "something you could buy in the mall." That's all. They even said they'd take any season items. So we went to the trouble of lugging our washed and folded items to Plato's, each of us with a pretty large amount. When we got to the location it seemed pretty seamless--just fill out some paperwork (you DO have to be 18+ at this location but thankfully, we were). Upon returning to the store it was EXTREMELY disappointing to find out that they bought NONE of my friends items and just 3 of my own. The employee helping us just briefly explained it was due to "wear" and because the clothing tags showed they were over a year old. Another employee however, was quite rude about emphasizing everything was too old and worn out to buy, when frankly, they weren't, and all of our items looked like things you could "buy from the mall" (things like plain jeans, T-shirts and sweaters got rejected!) We were also informed they weren't accepting any long sleeves (presumably to keep up with the seasonal trends), despite the fact their website advertises taking anything regardless of seasons. They did however, buy a pair of nice boots, jeans, and a cardigan from me--all of which I was given just $15 for. I felt like it was an extremely low price and when questioned if I could barter for higher, an employee rudely explained the "system" did everything and essentially, take it or leave it. Overall, I would NOT go to the trouble of trying to sell to here. Huge waste of time--huge disappointment. read more

Generally, my wife and daughters are the customers here, but I went along this time. While there are some fitting rooms that are out of order, and the building could use some minor maintenance, it's still reasonable. Friendly staff, reasonable prices, no bad smell now (an older review mentions this). My family loves this place, and I think I can see why. I take no exception to the concept of the store or their method of doing business with trade-ins because that's not what I do there, though I do understand the point that some people don't want to trade-in their clothes for a low value. But the way I see it, that's the whole point of the resale shop business! read more

Me and my girls came in here to shop this afternoon for the first time. We usually shop at the one in Canton. I have to say it's really nice there and everything is nicely organized by color or size or brand of clothing. This one is a lot nicer than the other in Canton. We will be back! Decently sized location. Smells funky. Ive taken clothes up here quite a few times. They only accept brand new clothes.. Why anyone would buy new clothes then turn around and sell them for way less than they are worth is beyond me.. Id rather sell my new garment for 80-90% of what I paid not 30% store credit.... They didn't accept many of my things. Also they only cater to a certain group of people. They only have certain bands and sizes. So if you aren't size XS-L go somewhere else because they wont have anything for you. & if you are looking to be different forget it. Ive only found ONE pair of alternative pants here. This store is really hit or miss.. Ive had some good finds here also the workers attitudes need adjusting. None of them look happy to be there. They are Always hiring... After returning an hour and sitting at the counter with no help for about ten minutes Staff member with orange and black braids then replied "I TOLD YOU AN HOUR". I replied "Well I know, that was an hour ago" she replied "Well I told you give it take an hour or more" none of this was ever stated and her attitude was super nasty from the first time I walked in. They have a poor selection of mens clothes, with most stuff HEAVILY worn and in nowhere close to like new condition. The staff is generally unfriendly to the customers, but seem to have a blast joking with each other. They make you wait in the store while they go through the stuff you want to sell, which is ridiculous. They say it's because their store is so small, but I think it's a scam to make you look around and maybe buy something. If there are other people waiting to sell, be sure to bring a book to entertain yourself for 45 minutes or so. Also, bring a chair, since the only place to sit is on the windowsill by the front door. I'll find another Plato's to sell at next time, or better yet, another used clothing store. read more
