This school is a scam and my and my classmates reported them their accreditation ACCSC and BPPE. The tuition is $42,000 for the vt program, and there is no job that pays you $42,000 a year to be a VT.. even with your license. So they are charging people more than what you can make as a rvt. I currently just finished my clinical rotations for the DMS program. And the only reason why I'm giving this school 5 stars is because I appreciate Natalie, she works in the financial aid department. She has helped me a lot through my program, if I had any questions or concerns she would answer them to her best ability. If she didn't have the answer, then she would ask around and get back to me. This review pertains only to the veterinary technician program. Before going to Platt I was a vet tech for years and I continue to be one today. Spending several months in their program in no way made me feel like I was better at my job. They are not preparing you to be a good tech. They only care that you pass the VTNE. Even if only 2 people make it to graduation. As far as I know none of the instructors have any history or training in teaching. It shows. They teach their class one way. If you don't get it, tough sh*t. They don't know a different way to explain it. Most classes are just premade slides they ramble off to you. Some of the newer instructors haven't read the info before and it shows. The classes are toxic. They constantly tell you untrue things about the field because the instructors want to look cool. They bring up the mental health issues that greatly affect techs. Then tell you to just suck it up, everything is your own fault. There is zero support. Why bring it up in the first place if you really don't care? Furthermore, if somebody does mess up expect a 20-minute lecture in front of the entire class about one person. I can't imagine working with these people in a clinic. Being a tech is no nearly as hard as they act like it is. I've worked at numerous hospitals and doing things like physical exams is unheard of for techs. You don't need to know complicated drug infusion rates. You don't need to know manage a hospital. So much time is wasted on skills that are not needed. Yet after 18 months of education, Platt produces tech that might be RVT's, but they don't know how to do there job. If you are looking to go here for the vet tech program don't. The teachers are rude and will make a point to torture you. They give you way too much information that is unnecessary. They over complicate most everything and there are some teachers who will go out of there way to get you kicked out of the program. Most experiences I had was with the specific teacher Emeri Acosta. She is very high strung and thinks she is entitled because she went to cal poly she will go out of her way to make your life as stressful and anxiety filled as possible. They talk a lot of how vet tech profession is the highest suicide rate and talk about mental health, yet they push you so hard that it gives you anxiety attacks and affects your mental health. She is the teacher who teaches surgery and anesthesia and I can tell you she will make it hell. They say those are the hardest classes and it's only because of the teacher who is teaching it who is Emeri. She says she is only hard on you because she wants you to be amazing but she is not being hard in the good type of way more the harassment and hateful type of way which no student should ever have to endure. Emeri is also very unwelcoming and when in her presence it makes you feel very anxious and uncomfortable because she is so tense and rude during any encounter and if you have a question about the class work you can forget asking her because her exact word will be "it's in the book go find it" even if it is unrelated to the topic we are discussing in class she isn't helpful at all and during class only reads word for word of the PowerPoint and then sits in her seat and doesn't say anything else to us for the rest of class. Quite comforting isnt it? While working with people who went to platt I started to notice other people felt the same way and some had to drop out because she was affecting their mental health so badly. Emeri has affected many students and I feel it should be brought up and her position should be reconsidered as a teacher. She may be a okay RVT but she is not a good teacher at all in my opinion. read more

Definitely going to another school. Was in the process of trying to get into Platt for the sonography program. I had an appointment with Yadira who I spoke with over the phone. She was immediately rude/ not friendly from the jump. Even just asking simple questions about the program, her responses came off as 'smart.' When I went in for my info appointment, I guess she had called off, so Alma was covering. Who was very informative and helpful. I took my wonderlic test, didn't pass the math portion, but did good in English. Alma went over this with me right after I finished. I scheduled another wonderlic for today, took it, and then I was told to go home. They said that yadira will be with a student till 11 (it was only about 10 till), and that she would call me back with the results. I waited till after 12 and called. First, she didn't even professionally address herself when she got on the phone. I had to ask if it was her so I could know the person I'm talking to knew what I was calling for-- she seemed irritated even just by me asking that. Second, she made it clear she was very busy with students and was questioning why I was calling her. I have had this test scheduled for a week-- why wasn't it a priority to give me my test results and why be rude when I was only trying to get my results? I shouldn't of even had to of called. She should of been able to take 5 minutes to go over them since this was scheduled, just like her other appointments, and just how Alma made sure to do. It's also a timed test, so they knew the exact time it was going to be over, which makes it even easier to schedule a mere 5 minutes to speak with me for results. Then she ended up telling me my results backwards. She said I passed the Math, and failed the English. I asked again because it seemed off, but she corrected herself and was actually hostly denying she even said that. Which was just rude. However, the cherry on top was her telling me I should re-consider the program. Absolutely rude, degrading, and inappropriate. The professional thing to have said would be to study and try again. She said that because I failed the math portion twice. She was saying the sonography program consists of basic math, like stuff with fractions, so if I wasn't passing by the second try I should reconsider the program. When it's simple math that I would know off the top of my head after a quick refresher. I did pretty well in high school, it's just been years since I've actually gone to school and done any real math. Which she should know because I spoke with her about that EXACT concern on the phone. OH, and she did not even offer me any practice exams when I was even asking about that specifically-- they do indeed have practice exams. That woman should not be in a people person job like this because she simply does not know how to be authentically/ genuinely nice. Grateful for this experience though because it also made me go through reviews of the school, and realize exactly how underwhelming the school/ sonography program is. I will be going the traditional route and not taking a shortcut with an unaccredited program. Was going to do the bachelors program here as well, but not worth the price when I can get more in depth and cheaper education by taking the traditional route. Please reconsider Platt, and if not, god bless your soul if you end up with Yadira from admissions. Thanks for reading. read more

Since graduating I was able to work at every place I externed at. I worked for a short time at one hospital and was offered more the very next month at a hospital I absolutely loved so I took it. Worked there for a year and then got a position for the county. I believe that my experience here helped me to have a foot in the door with each of these places, so when this is you I highly recommend showing them they need you. Always ask to help and never be afraid to try something new and NEVER tell them no (within reason). Also treat others kindly and offer to help outside your scope of work, I helped receptionists and kennel attendants all the time. I was even the Sunday person who took care of the entire hospital when staff was gone (to include power washing the external areas and sweeping/mopping). Be empathetic. These patients don't have a voice, you need to be that for them. I will also say that no matter what you think of the shelter, put those ideas aside. It was the best place I've worked, they do everything they possibly can to help those in need and get every animal into a home. This is just an update for students in the program. I have been waiting for a response for almost 2 weeks to see if i got in the DMS program after i completed my tests and my interview, The councilor has been no help and has been delaying my applications knowing that i'm set to go, there is terrible communication in this school. After i called in multiple time asking to speak to the counselor and trying to explain my situation there, i never got a word from her. When i first went i was assigned to Monica who was incredible, answered all of my questions with no problems and gave me a tour around the school. After i took my interview I had texted Monica that i had not yet gotten a call a week later. She was really weirded out by the situation and told me that i was supposed to get a response already. I called the front office and explained to them my situation in which they sounded weirded out by since they know it shouldn't take that long to get a call back and told me that they would tell Yadira my situation and that she would give me a call, of course i never got one. I called her one last time and she came off to me as rude and not helpful on telling me what my status was and that she would give me a response within 4 days. After I called in for the program directors number and as soon as i got the umber she called back trying to be helpful and she told me that she would give me a response within a couple of hours on my status. This is ridiculous since she was contradicting her own words in many occasions. Yadira is not doing her job the way she is supposed to, i am not pleased with the way my situation is being handled. read more

I am a Former DMS student. Platt riverside is NOT CAAHEP Accredited. DO NOT LET THEM FOOL YOU. The accreditation it has is....to be a "career college" which they "need" to be in business. The DMS program is a joke. This is how the school works.... they want your money and will do anything to make sure you get in and u pass, even lying about test scores, or bumping up scores to make sure you pass tests, finals, lab etc. There are no decent clinical sites, sometimes there are 8 students at certain locations. Students complained to prog. director, president, counselors no one did a thing, no one investigated. At one site the students were cleaning toilets, filing paperwork, answering phones. At another clinical site there Was no employee, so a platt DMS student, who was still in school, was hired under the table when he had no clue. The techs at the so called clinical sites are not ARDMS. Platt college gives money to the clinical sites to take students, Almost $500 per student. The director of the program Dr. M is nice but it's a paycheck for her, a high student passing % the better $. The owners of the school Do Not care! Many students complained to them about all the issues, some of them were so bad that platt was doing. The lab teachers DO NOT know ultrasound, they are not teaching the scanning part correctly and DMS is all about scanning. In Lab they don't teach you small parts, endovaginal pelvic. You can't sit for ARDMS board exam after completion of "certificate program". You have to work for 1 yr or have a B.S. and good luck with that cus no one will hire you coming from an non accredited program with lousy clinical site (they blame that in Loma Linda having a monopoly in that region) So the way platt tricks/deceives.... is by "talking" Students into taking the "Bachelors of Science DMS" program after all the $$$$ You gave them to be in the certificate DMS program.... Just before graduating the certificate DMS they have one/one to convince you to enroll in B.S. part. Which means more $$$$ for Platt. Do not go here!!! Do not even try to get info. No one will be honest. All their campuses are run conceptually the same. I ended up going to a OC college which is CAAHEP accredited. I am a current student at platt college riverside, I am currently in the veterinary technology program and I do not recommend this school if you want to be a well prepared RVT. This program only teaches you how to cheat on your exams and work, all answers are found on quizlet and the material is only shown to you once & you never see it again. There is no way a person can learn all the material that prepares you to be a good RVT in very short modules that last only about a month. My classmates and I have to memorize answers instead of actually learning the material because this program does not allow you to actually learn. I learned most of the material at my extern site because I was practicing and seeing these things daily. The teachers make their lectures super and extremely boring. you have to sit in a classroom for 5 hours and listen to them talk which everyone knows that the average person looses interest in like an hour of lecture. Mrs. Emeri Acosta is the only teacher in this program that will actually teach you how to be a well prepared RVT, even then she could only do so much since the modules last only a month. DO NOT go here if you want to be prepared for what you're doing and take good care of animals in the veterinary field. read more

I go and get assistance with yadira bc Monica was our of office and she was condensing and making me feel as though I don't qualify to test for dms which whw didn't even get to know me or know I already have a degree, and when I asked ro get assisted with Monica,she rolled her eyes and said that Monica doesnt handle dms. Screw that place and screw yadiras attitude. Go to a different college to where you are treated like a person. One of my biggest regrets is wasting my time and money here. After only attending classes here for 3 months I did not pass 1 class out of 3 and was dropped out of the program. I was pregnant at the time so instead of waiting to go back in a month when the course was available again I was told I shouldn't come back until after my baby. Technically I was able to go back if I wanted to but the program supervisor was strongly suggesting I didn't which made me feel bad. I was told "pregnancy brain" was a real thing pertaining to why I probably failed one of my classes? I felt discriminated because of my pregnancy especially because the instructor told us in the beginning of the program not to get pregnant which at the time I didn't know I was. So after I was dropped I owed over 2k of student loans plus around 1k for the fees platt college charges and they want paid right away. All for 3 months of schooling. I tried transferring to my community college with the credits I earned at platt but they said they couldn't accept them. So basically I went to school there for 3 months and I'm still paying my loans for nothing. read more

First of all Stephanie from admissions is IMPOSSIBLE to get a hold of and secure an appointment. I contacted the school back in December because I was interested in the sonography program, didn't get a call back until a few weeks later. Any time I tried to contact the school or her, you literally get the voicemail and do not expect a call back. I finally had an appointment with admissions and the day before I messaged Stephanie trying to confirm my appt because she never sent one to me and I got no response whatsoever. Called the morning of because I didn't want to waste my time and show up for no reason and guess what? NO RESPONSE. Extremely unprofessional. Very hard to get an appointment but finally we did. So My daughter had an appointment here in riverside she was really excited about it. The person who she talked to was so negative I wish I knew her name. She said my daughter had a low math score and that she couldn't get in because of that. She didn't offer any help or no information. So we ended up trying the one in Ontario and the lady was so helpful gave her a tour around campus and also she said my daughter scored high in English and wanted her to retake her math test because she was so close at passing but even if her math is low she said they offer tutoring. Well I've heard in the news about "colleges" such as this but I didn't believe Platt College was one of them. The first clue should have been that they are not accredited. Second clue was that they push for as much money as they can get. In short they are one of those colleges that only see profit as a motive and not the education of the student. My daughter spent some time here and appeared to be doing well. So well in fact that she made the dean's honor roll. However, she wound up in a Physics class with an instructor who from what I've learned should not have been teaching the class to begin with. The class was so bad my daughter complained to the dean about it. However, nothing was done. Ultimately, she didn't do so well in this class and instead of allowing her to retake it with another instructor, the school asked her to leave. First of all, any school that accepts money from a person, especially in the amounts charged by this school, has an obligation to provide the best education possible. If a student is struggling or has issues with a teacher, the school is obligated to correct the situation. Platt College has no qualms collecting the money, but they fall short on providing the best education experience possible. This school should be included in the Department of Defense/VA list of schools to be ineligible for using the GI Bill or other Veterans' benefits. It should also be investigated by the state into the questionable practices it has. If you are looking for a quality education at an accredited school avoid Platt College. read more

An apparent good group of folks run this career college in the east Riverside warehouse district area. Not much of a 'campus' to speak of (just a building and a parking lot) but the building is new a nice and clean and safe. Food, fun, busses, connections, or anything really is about a mile away so... bring a lunch, buy some good walking shoes or borrow a bike. read more

Please do your research, I went to their school for the DMS program in 2016 and it's been 4 years and haven't gotten a job due to not completing my degree in a CAHEEP accredited program and because I need experience in order to be registered but can't get experience because I'm not registered! It's ridiculous. It's also hard to get a job because they require you to be registered as a Sonographer. In the end you end up with 20k loans and wasting time on a ridiculous "program." Your better off going to OCC where they're program is accredited. Their externships are also a joke, I only stayed with one company throughout my whole externship doing 3d4d ultrasounds. I even asked to be moved to get more experience in other areas and they didn't care. Don't waste your time!! Go somewhere else where they'll appreciate you as a student. In the end all I can say is that there are better schools out there that can give you the opportunities to grow professionally without going through this hassle. I enrolled to this school in May of the year 2014 to be a part of the Paralegal program, and just withdrew from the program on October 1st, 2014. The paralegal instructors are very unprofessional and do not teach class. They let the students surf the web and spend a lot of time doing nothing in class. I was really looking forward to graduating from Platt College with my vet tech, which I accomplished. Though I regret every step of the way starting with Covid-19; they forced me to attend clinicals during the pandemic, returned my bank loan, and ripped me off 4500 dollars which my bank loan could have paid off with my loan that they returned and they ran me in circles giving me solutions that weren't truthful. The worst thing is that the financial aid advisor never returned any of my phone calls leading me to call every other department to get a hold of someone during this pandemic. This left me a bitter taste in my mouth because they did not communicate effectively. On top of that, the career services advisor screwed up my resume and did not listen to my request for job locations, and is sending me jobs in OC and SD. I'd be losing more money on gas than making money. Overall, I got awarded a scholarship to help with the mistake they made on my loan but since I am no longer a student, they took it back. I have been to CBU and the University of Phoenix..... I have also been to Pike Peaks Community College, as well as Central Texas College...... I'm a veteran and have traveled some....it's a hobby of mine. Anyways- this college is perfect- if you want to go to school, full time, and have a family or are involved in sports, hobbies or community volunteer service. The hours accommodate the hectic schedule and the campuses are not too far apart so transfers are available, if need be. Due to the fact that this is a private college- you have extra time and attention from the professors and staff. The staff and professors at Platt College have exceeded my standards and needs. They had handled all my matters in a timely fashion; they also extended their services to me when I was in distress and needed guidance with personal matters. The staff and professors care- they are genuine and want all the students to succeed. Not only do they challenge us but they show us the ropes and make us feel competent when we are asking questions or need help-they don't undermine us-you or make you feel stupid for asking for help. The campus has a library, computer lab, break-lunch room, and everything that's needed and required to attend school. I thank God for this college and I'm happy to be attending. I'm working on my bachelors ,btw, and I also box,volunteer,attend church and share time w my family and friends. If you like to multitask and are a busy bee-this is the college for you. read more

I had requested information about the license vocational nursing program at the Riverside campus. They informed me that the none of the Platt campuses offer the license vocational nursing program except the LA campus. The school needs to update the website because on the website it lists the different campuses but does not break down what campus offers what programs. No this isn't a university or a well known cal state. People are saying don't do it because they don't know what to do with what they got. Ive learn a lot from my instructors at Platt College. But what they didn't teach me is the drive and hunger to succeed. That comes form your own self-being. You can't blame the school for not getting you a job. I'd admit, some of the prerequisite classes weren't great, but the school did take into consideration student comments. The DMS program itself was very informative, challenging, and well-paced. I enrolled at Platt since 2013 to start on my Associates in Medical Assisting, In my associates everything was just bliss and perfect. Until I started my Bachelors in Healthcare Management , my instructors are great! But when needing to take a LOA (Leave of Absence) due to family emergencies and moving , I gathered all the information I could possibly need to get that LOA and was told by registrar that I would receive a call regarding what step to take next and so forth. Well as I have waited, and waited, and waited I believe there's a deadline for LOA's (which I wasn't aware of) I came to class as I would do and my instructor tells me that today was the deadline and to head to registrar. So I did, turns out they said I couldn't take a LOA because I needed some sort of doctors note, now in that moment I just suck it up and walked away but realized that there was a lack of communication because if they could have called me and notified me about getting that note even a day before deadline I could have had it in! Instead I was told about turning in anything else until the day of deadline when I was barely going in for evening classes starting at 5:45pm-10:45pm. Usually I stay quiet and let people do the way they do their job but in this case I was so disappointed about the communication and I had to drop out of the program in order to handle my family emergency and the long move then wait to resign up !
