The school in itself is nice. Staff, office staff A+. However, a teacher for MB was very off center. She would mostly talk about her personal life, if she handed out a test on the subject at hand i would fail it. A test on her family, kids and dating life i would pass. She also didn't care too much for students she didn't fancy. For example i was harassed by a student due to my religion. This wasn't a secret and when i presented a report for the teacher she assumed it was a threat to her. For many of us, that 25% cut can mean the difference between making rent or not. 2. Potential Loss of Accreditation: Additionally, UEI College is under serious scrutiny. In 2023, the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC) issued a System-Wide Warning to UEI and other IEC-owned institutions due to "potential systemic violations" and an ongoing investigation by the Department of Education. This isn't just a footnote--it's a major red flag for any student investing time, money, and future career hopes into a school that may be at risk of losing its accreditation. 3. Discriminatory In-Person Requirements for Veterans: While the school permits the general student population to attend classes via Zoom from home, veteran students using GI Bill benefits are forced to come into the physical campus to maintain eligibility. This policy creates an unfair double standard. It's hard to justify making veterans commute and attend in-person while everyone else has the flexibility to learn remotely--especially when the coursework is exactly the same. It feels like we're being penalized for using our earned benefits. 4. Poor Communication and Inconsistent Administration: Veteran students often get caught in the middle of administrative disorganization. Communication between the VA certifying officials at the school and the students is poor, and there's often confusion about scheduling, benefit usage, and compliance with VA requirements. You're left doing the legwork yourself to ensure your benefits are used properly. 5. Facilities and Resources Are Subpar: The campus conditions aren't great either. Classrooms are outdated, lab equipment is often malfunctioning or unavailable, and computer access is limited. "Veterans", Think Twice Before Enrolling at UEI College As a veteran attending this school using GI Bill benefits, I highly recommend looking elsewhere. My experience at UEI College has been frustrating and disappointing. The weekly schedule includes labs two days a week and virtual sessions two days a week. However, veterans are expected to attend every lab and virtual day (in person), regardless of the actual instructional value, during the non lab days you sit in a classroom for 6 hours doing nothing. It's better to be a regular student because the hybrid schedule works in your favor. Despite this full-time commitment, you won't receive your full GI Bill housing allowance (BAH) and you get paid when the school wants you to get paid. Classes run for six hours during lab days, Monday through Friday. The program feels more like you're checking a box than actually gaining knowledge. The school only cares that students show up & getting a job in the trade, because high attendance numbers make the college look good on paper--not because students are actually learning or working. When concerns are raised, staff provide no real help. They simply say, "That's what the VA or government requires," and push responsibility elsewhere. There's no advocacy or flexibility, and it's clear that veterans are treated like a funding source, not students. On top of that, if your attendance drops below 75% even slightly you lose eligibility for grants, with no warning or support. UEI College does not respect veterans' time, benefits, or service. If you dare stand up for yourself one bit they manage to turn the narrative onto you. The staff is rude. They harass you to join their school and once you're in, they harass you even more. If you attempt blocking their numbers, they call you on NO CALLER ID. They called me 30+ times in the span of 30 mins below is proof of all the calls I had to ignore from them Also don't be fooled by the reviews with 5 stars. Some reviews are from employees at UEI trying to salvage the school's reputation. For example, the one from "Hilda V" who you'll find has a very nice enclosed office in the career services department of the school. These other 1 star reviews just prove my point even further. On the one hand, I enjoyed my time at UEI and I was proud to graduate their Medical Coding and Insurance Billing Program. I chose UEI over other programs because of the Externship and I knew that would be invaluable in breaking into the field as a green Biller but I absolutely would not recommend this school. The staff is so unorganized, unhelpful and rude. They have been zero help and are even the reason I missed out on being hired from Extern. The program is way over priced and I ended up on the hook for loans twice the amount as it was presented to me in the beginning. There are many other programs for MBIC that are $2,000 and the kicker is that you don't even NEED a degree or certificate to work as a medical biller, but the help of staff with job placement, & the externship was the reason I went this route and that is where they fall short, so it DEFINITELY wasn't worth the extra $18, 000 it cost to take this course. When it comes to the course, you start in whatever order you enroll in. So you could take the last course first, mid, second, etc. There is no starting line, no foundation to build off of. You're thrown into the mix of it, expected to just pick up and things would've made a lot more sense had the classes been in order. They told me it was a 4 day course when I enrolled, it was actually 5 days I needed to get attendance. Speaking of, if you miss an online day (the program is a hybrid schedule) it will count against you BUT if you log attendance on an online day, but miss a lab (on campus) day your online attendance doesn't count. I was out with COVID and missed two lab days, but made sure I was still getting my online days and work done and I started receiving texts that I was in danger of being dropped from the course because you can't miss 10 days in a row and apparently online days only count to work against you. I had missed TWO days and they were going to drop me if I didn't attend that next lab. Same with extern days, weekends are included in days missed- even if your site is not open those days, and they start counting your absences (of 14 days) from your last LAB day. The career services department is an absolute joke. They did not have a designated person the entire duration of my program, and not only did they not do their job, but they gave attitude about me not knowing who my career service person was. I remember back to my first mod where a student was complaining about how they kept setting her up for extern interviews for Medical Assistants not Medical Billing and that doesn't seem to have been resolved because the only career service person I've had reach out was also for Medical Assisting and not MBIC and on top of that the message was filled with so many typos it was mind blowing it was meant to pass as professional. When that previous student had reached out to another staff member about the problem she was having with being set up for the wrong program her career specialist threatened her for reporting her to her supervisor. I still have not received a copy of my CPR certification. It took weeks of multiple reaching out to make an appointment to get my diploma. And this is not a singular experience. Every single person that showed up to my graduation for the MBIC class (which was not many due to the gross mishandling of our class & also who puts a graduation for what you hope is a bunch of new hires on a Friday midday?) shared the same experience. Not a single classmate clapped for career services and expressed how let down they were by them when they were told to stand for graduation so I know I am not alone in the lack of support. My sister in another program had a very similar experience (though a little more help with career services, still the unprofessionalism and lack of being able to get needed documents etc.) I could go on and on about how far this school has dropped the ball in support and professionalism but this is already lengthy as is. Bottom line: I would not recommend this school. Especially not for Medical Coding and Insurance Billing. read more

I finally made it to externship in the medical assisting program and needed maternity leave, the career services or whoever gave me a really hard time and in addition tried to tell me I need to request that through them first and then my doctor and it had to be an absolute emergency in order for it to get approved even though my doctor approved it and I had the documentation to prove that the doctor put me on maternity leave. They gave me the whole run around and I swear I was going back and forth with them for in total 3 hours. Finally, I was able to get it approved but who do they think they are like oh my goodness. Definitely do not recommend this school to anyone in general but especially mothers who are expecting. read more

They easily sign you up to join there school but the student has to deal with the headache and cost of the reoccurring random charges they throw on you. Be wary, read your contract and ask questions. Also, there finacial team will argue with you when you call to ask to find out what these other charges are. Very unprofessional. The education its self is decent depending on what instructor you get, but the classes are very over filled where you have to push your way in everyday just to get some hands on experience. Honestly Miss Stegehuis "Miss S" saved my whole experience in my final months of being in this school! She genuinely made me fall in love with dental assisting. Before she came we had multiple instructors and it was a little frustrating (which is why I gave 4 stars), but Miss S used to be a student here and I know she seen herself in us while teaching. She took her job seriously, while also making everything enjoyful and fun. She was always patient with us. She definitely knows what she's talking about and she's still on speed dial if I ever need anything in the office I'm at now. If you come to this school, try to ask if you can be in her class because she's definitely the BEST!! I created beautiful friendships in the process of being here as well. Today I had the greatest day at school. I joined the MA program about 3 months ago and I was very reluctant to join because I didn't know what to expect. But today my instructor made me realize that I didn't make a mistake signing up. Ms Mendez motivated me to overcome my fear of needles, she motivates me to get my lab skills done. Even when I mess up she helps me correct it and feel confident when I re attempt the skill. She helps me with my homework, she takes time after our zoom calls to FaceTime me and guide me step by step on my sim chart assignments. Overall I'm having the greatest experience here. I truly do not now how this "educational institution" is still operating. I enrolled in January of this year (2024) and because of my experience and treatment from representatives of this institution I will not be finishing the program. To start I was never provided with ANY of the supplies the school and my CONTRACT stated I would be provided with. No laptop, no hard drives, no Microsoft 365. So not only am I 12k deep in student loan debt but I also paid for all supplies out of pocket. Which would be fine, besides the fact that it is in contract that it was to be provided to me and included in tuition cost. I tried to resolve this issue many times, the women who is in charge of financial matters at this campus location Yadira, was extremely disrespectful, unwilling to help me, and refused me an itemized bill when I asked and I respectfully attempted to resolve this issue and finish out the remainder of the program. I was in the BA program and it was extremely outdated and really is just a basic refresh of Microsoft programs. I could have got on YouTube and learned the same things this schools curriculum covers in a week. Please save yourself the time and money and find another program. I met a women who claimed to have sued this exact campus and I truly understand why someone would go to such lengths. The teachers age shows in the MA class. Almost like high school. I guess students that are there months ahead get treated like her best friends while new beginners feel more Comfortable to only practice with other newbies. It shouldn't be that way, there is no picking and choosing in a real facility. Professional behavior should be practiced in the class, the teacher only speaks up about the inequality only after the problem gets worse, yet she was apart of the problem from the beginning, picking and choosing who her best friends are. And because her mother works there I guess she can do what she wants, as she explained, as if that gives her more push and pull. Happy to have finished couldn't wait to get out of there. Came to visit the students I bonded with and explained how my externship was and what to look out for and pay attention too. One of the things that sets UEI Riverside apart from other career colleges is its focus on specialty programs. The college offers a number of programs that are designed to prepare students for specific careers. I am a surgical tech by profession with 15 years of experience. Currently I am enrolled in the Medical Coding Program. Both my teachers are great and have a strong background and knowledge. Sarai, my UEI Riverside representative, has been incredibly helpful throughout the admissions process. She has been responsive to my questions. Mr. Alverez, the Admissions Directory at UEI Riverside, has also been very helpful. Though very stern, his goal has always been for his students success. honestly have to say it open up many things for me and my new per diem job as a Surgical Tech is 12 mins away from school.
