I went to a conference here. It's a no frills facility. It reminds me of a JC or urban high school. Nothing was particularly comfortable or nice. We had a friendly lizard visit us for the morning session. The food was ok. It's hard to hate on churros. The bathrooms admonish you to only use one seat cover per toilet visit. Seriously, they ration ass gaskets. It wouldn't ever come here unless I had to. read more

Unique building. I'm guessing it use to be a hotel. The room temps couldn't decide between cold or hot, but overall great experience. Food for our conference was good, and staff were friendly and helpful. Place was clean. Rooms had plenty of room for our 100 person conference. And the patio area was nice for breaks. Was easy to find and within walking distance of a few hotels. And excellent food near by. read more

The extension is not really UCR. It is separate and independent. They have programs that could be good, but I think it's more a business model. Get students to sign-up and pay, not much care for how the program will help you reach your goals. I decided on going through the Teaching English as a Foreign Language Certificate program since it had the most lecture hours to learn and practice. I learned how to think and teach like a teacher. They turned me from someone that could not teach to someone that could teach. There were parts of the curriculum that I did not agree with, such as being forced to teach a botched lesson to actual students. Me and the other student-teachers felt bad for the students. It probably helped clear the class out after that since the attendance dropped to almost virtually nobody. I pity for the international students that go there to study English and come to the U.S. The curriculum is not challenging and wasteful in terms of time and money. The location is not ideal. It reminds me of Death Valley. It's very depressing. read more

I completed a certificate program in Human Resources Management here and even though I "hate" school, I really enjoyed the experience. The classes can be pricey, it is an extension of the University of California after all, but they were worth every penny. Each class was 10 weeks long, 3 hours per week. The Instructors were all professionals (this was not their full time gig) and very knowledgeable on the subject. There were a lot of international students in my classes and it was fun working with people of different cultures and getting to know them. The campus is easily accessible, with a cafe and large multipurpose rooms for students to gather and socialize or study. There were computers and updated AV equipment in all of the classrooms. I would recommend anyone wishing to further their education through a certificate program to check out what UCRX has to offer. read more

The instruction itself is okay, but there have been at least 3 interruptions per class for signatures from the professor, or trying to find paperwork- the classrooms were poorly labeled and hard to find, the faucets were leaking for days in a drought and only hot worked which was lukewarm ... Once the faucets were fixed - the water was flaming hot! I went and put a sign on the mirror to let people know because the staff seemed unconcerned about the fact that people might get hurt :( I know these are all facilities issues, but where does instruction happen ?? UCR extension "A new school paradigm". My experience taking UCR extension's online course for "Medical Case Management" for a completion certificate... very unprofessional! UCR extension online is a new school paradigm. Don't bother comparing it to any class you have ever taken in your life. There are 8 classes, 7 teachers because two teach a combo class together. Half the teachers in this program try consistently and proceed in their teaching efforts, as students would expect. Life experiences, frame our expectations of how teachers will behave under routine teaching conditions. UCR extension is like taking a step in an unknown direction! Warning! Warning! Warning! Lesson #1, Do not expect the teacher(s) to be present for the whole class. Jennifer Campbell, the director of the CM program is going to support her teachers no matter what! Finding a replacement, even after several complaints of incompetence is too much work for her. Don't bother emailing her with your concerns of disappearing or incompetent teachers. The classes are 6- 8 weeks long, if the instructor disappears for 4 weeks and doesn't respond to questions, doesn't grade papers, or doesn't show any vital life signs, well... who ever said that teachers should have a presence in the class, till the completion of the class? This is UCR extension's, certificate for "Medical Case Management" a new school paradigm. As a student, you are paying $3,500 to $4,000 dollars for this 8 class series, more by the way, than any other program currently online. Plan for some of the teachers to disappear for most of the class at least 50-75% of the time. Lesson # 2, Do not expect the director of the program to be sympathetic to whatever complaints you email her about. If you contact Jennifer Campbell regarding a concern that is't being resolved in the class by the teacher, she will email the teacher, sending the offending teacher(s) your name and complaints. Then? Yes, you are right.... the instructor(s) will proceed to retaliate against you. I have personally experienced this debacle first hand. It played out like this, immediately after making my 2nd complaint in the program, the teachers, TS and EF started giving me low grades like an "F" (without explanation) and then after a couple of hours or days would change the grades to a more shall we say appropriate grade, more representative of the work I put into the project, a grade of "A or B" (In my opinion). I went from a "F" to an "A" in one fell swoop. This process continued for the remainder of the 3 weeks until the class was over. Jennifer must have been pretty amused when I email my description...the teachers performed this practical joke the last week, on April 1....being "April Fools". Clever? Well, what do I have to complain about? I did manage to procure an "A" out of the class overall. How proud I am too, to get an "A" from such a respectable and honorable learning environment. Come on! Now, this sounds ridiculous ask Jennifer, she thought so too. Why in gods name would an instructor take time out of her day to do such a thing? Lesson #3, Do not suppose that your assigned teacher, in class "Acute Hospital CM" one of the classes in the certificate program for "Medical Case Management" will act like a "instructor" or "mentor"... don't think in terms of "teacher", and "certainly not "professor." A more realistic and literal title, representative of underwhelming performance should be "bully" or "trickster". I don't know why? Just the way it is at UCR extension, Medical Case Management online certificate program, a new school paradigm! One ethical principle in healthcare, that I reviewed in this program is non-maleficence, it means do no harm. That brings me to Lesson #4, Do not suppose that just because there are discussions of ethical behavior, and lessons on ethical behavior and even a class in ethics, that this obligates a teacher herself to be ethical or model healthcare ethics in dealing with students in her class. Ironically, NO! Lessons have not been updated in 5-8 years, 100% of the time, as evidenced in the "last modified entry, date/year" at the bottom of every written lecture. This is unprofessional in a topic moving as quickly as CM. There are spelling and typo mistakes that are not bothered to be fixed consistently throughout most all instructor's lessons. In required reading assignments, there is an abundance of repetition and disorganization, consistently. Dates and times for assignments are disorganized and wrong in EF and TS's classes (the worst). Caution!, Caution! Caution! This is not an accredited program. There is no connection between UCR extension and the University of Riverside, except in name only... Like "Trump University". The learning institution of ill repute. It's not surprising to see most of the good reviews are for yoga and underwater basket weaving at this extension center. This review is for the crime analysis program, first off if you have any type of criminal justice degree do yourself a favor and just steer clear from this program completely. It is offered at both UCR extension and Cal State and very obviously designed to generate more revenue. I am very dismayed that a "prestigious" criminal analytics program at a UC institution no less could be such a disgrace. I was lied to right out of the gate, having a degree in statistics and criminology I was told I still had to take all of the courses to complete the program as this "content was specifically designed around the program and contains pertinent information for the crime analyst". After I was told that I figured well maybe there is a new revamped version of criminal law and criminal justice from an analyst prospective? Umm no, not only were they the same classes they were lower quality than what I had received in my BA program. During my second class I reconnected with a classmate from college who graduated from the same program and has the same degrees I do, however she was allowed to transfer 9 credits which I was told I cannot do. When some of our other classmates heard us talking about the credit transfers, it turned into a hot topic as it became apparent that some of us were told we could and others were told the program wouldn't allow this. I consider that to be dishonest behavior on the extension centers part, you cannot pick and choose who you allow to transfer credit from another university. There were so many glitches in the online modules I found myself having to take quizzes and submit assignments a few times before they would actually save which was extremely frustrating and forget about bringing that up to the instructors or tech support as they will tell you that is impossible even though other students experienced it. As some other reviewers had mentioned the admin and the instructors LOOOOVE to play games with your grades, behavior I never witnessed at the actual UCR college. For reference I went through this program slowly starting in 2014 and finishing in late 2017. The content at least up until last year did not reflect most of the tasks I perform on the daily in my law enforcement analyst job and I found some of the instructors to be quite disturbing in the way they presented material such as homicide cases. After I had finished the series I realized the quality of education pretty much reflected the poor policing we practice in this state, behind the times with too many politics getting in the way. read more

I love the Iyengar Yoga program. It is strong program with devoted teachers.

This is the worst school I had never met before. They do not care and help students at all especially the staffs who are sitting in the office at the second floor. If I had second chance, I would not chose this school. read more

I have been in the Interior Design Program and have loved the instructors that I have had. All professionals themselves, the instructional setting has been intimate with much opportunity to ask questions of the instructor. My friend finished the program and started her own business and is doing great! read more

I went through the crime analysis program after a colleague of mine found it advertised, I like to keep up on the most current practices and software for my personal knowledge. A little history of my background, I was a sworn peace officer for 5 years when I was medically retired for an injury sustained on duty. I have been an intelligence analyst in both police and military agencies for the past 17 years. I have a BA in criminal justice and an MS in Cyber security along with my teaching credential. I have taught similar subjects as an adjunct professor, so I was very surprised to see that what I got for my money was a whole waste of time. It was obvious after going through the first 3 classes that they were hiring anyone that could fill those slots at the time. Some "instructors" (used loosely) brought their own published books/materials to teach with that were riddled with errors & incorrect stat formulas. I am still flabbergasted that this is a DOJ approved program & no one has vetted through the materials some of which are straight up paper & charts that look like they are from 1985! A true analyst needs to be taught how to operate software! Instructors would blatantly ignore emails and module posts leaving a less then professional overall outlook. The woman who coordinates this program is in disarray. The extension center itself is severely disorganized which makes me think that my personal information is in jeopardy. All in all folks I would say to attend the actual university side or somewhere else if offered, unless you would like to donate your hard earned money to the ehem "professors". I feel truly sorry for those who actually need this certification. read more
