Came with family and we asked to site outside because it was such a wonderful day and the weather was beautiful. We were led out to their huge outdoor patio and seated in an area that overlooks the parking lot, the trail head for the path along the South Platte River. The inside of this restaurant is so fun with seats created out of car parts, like the tail lights, the grill, etc. We are glad we chose to sit outside. Server was Billy, who was so personable and we thank him for his great service! The two alcoholic drinks ordered were the spicy bloody Mary and the Modelita Michelada, which both people raved about! We also ordered the chips and salsa and a bowl of the Queso, both of which were fresh, just the right amount of spice, and so good! We came for lunch and dishes ordered included the Smothered Chicken & Bean Burrito. It was huge and filled with lots of chicken and beans and covered with a great green pork chili sauce. I thought it was a bit spicy but everyone else loved it! Also had the chicken Caesar wrap, the taco plate, and I had the patty melt. Everyone raved and I posted pictures. My patty melt was so good, with lots of cheese and grilled onions and I asked for the thousand island on the side and asked for yellow mustard because that's what I love to dip my melt in! Also got the tots, which were fried to toasty perfection. A fantastic patty melt. We also ordered the kids mac and cheese and our kiddo loved it! Looked like Kraft Mac & Cheese but she loved it! There were plenty of selections but we all seemed to gravitate to the lunch special which gave the options of taco, tostado and burrito. I have been going to this place for years, ever since I moved to Denver 16 years ago. I hadn't been in a while though and suggested we enjoy the patio when some relatives came in from out of town. I read the most recent reviews (within the last year) and there were a ton of negative ones about poor service, bad drinks, and some rodents on the patio. I will say, I was shocked to read these. First of all this patio backs up to the green belt, the Platte River and a bunch of beautiful trees and some wildlife. I am sure it would be extremely difficult to keep rid of any mice. I personally haven't seen anything but I could see how that happens. I have never had anything short of great service here. Including last night. I honestly cannot remember the server's name, but she had long black hair, a cool Colorado flag/heart tattoo on her arm and was a fantastic server. She was funny, quick and had a great personality. No waiting 20 minutes for drinks with her. We all got various margaritas and all of them were delicious. No complaints. I will also say that this place holds a piece of my heart. It was where my husband and I had out first date 15 years ago and where we got engaged also. But aside from that my review still stays the same. Great patio with a ton of space and seating. They expanded the inside and it now has more space for seating. The menu is pretty large with something for anyone's tastebuds. They have a great green chile! Heads up that if you have ever gotten a Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich from here - beware that they have changed it!! This used to be my favorite thing on the menu and was delish! I just went for the 1st time in about 2 months and it's now awful. The chicken tastes like a frozen chicken tender (and looks like one) - not the real fresh chicken it used to be. The deck, sports on TV and some live music are the biggest redeeming qualities . The food is average and the service is poor. Servers seem to talk to their regulars and then wait on tables out of order being seated. 20 minutes till we were waited on and one waiter just visited with his table. Piss poor. This is the spot if you want to meet up with friends, listen to music, drink some beers and relax. The food is good but I wouldn't say it's anything mind blowing. I am rating this restaurant 5 stars due to the service and ambiance. Plenty of parking and easy to access. We stopped by on a Sunday and they had a live band playing. We asked to be seated outdoors and they have such a large deck with beautiful views. Umbrellas for shade if you need it. We order a burger and onion rings and a grilled chicken buffalo sandwich with French fries. The burger and chicken sandwich were ok. The onion rings and fries were cooked to a perfect crispness! The onion rings were also breaded lightly and non greasy which I love. They had rotating draft beers but also have regulars on the menu. I was happy to see they had Breck Palisade peach! How hard is a Modelo + lime? 1st try, rec'd Pacifico + lime. 2nd try, Modelo, no lime. 4 different servers over the course of 30 min. Hatch Chile burger was blah for $19. Not worth it. After church, my husband and I went to Platte River Bar & Grill for lunch. We wanted to listen to live music and Platte River has a great deck that features live music. It was a lovely day, so we decided to go, eat, have some drinks and listen to the music. We started with Queso which was really good. I got the Mexican hamburger which is a burger wrapped in a flour tortilla with refried beans and smothered in green chili. I substituted the fries for Spanish rice. I kinda regretted that later as the rice tasted kinda old and dried out. My husband got the taco plate which came with 2 tacos, beans and rice. I also had a couple of their house Margarita's. On Labor Day I got off of work early and felt like I wanted to dine out somewhere. The weather was nice and I was leaning toward a place with outdoor seating. Platte River Bar & Grill was a place we wanted to try. I called about seating and they said there were open tables on the deck. Perfect! Once I got there I realized why on a holiday there were open tables... the raised deck is HUGE! Yet it doesn't feel like a big deck. They've done a great job of laying it out so it feels cozy. There are many different areas to sit at this place. There are tables right as you enter. These are the ones with seats that look like the back of old cars. If you go to the left from the front dining area, you can sit at a bar, or when you enter the restaurant you can go to the right and sit at the indoor tables that are in an L-shaped room There's another bar in this room where you can sit, but it's not the ideal sitting area because you'll get traffic coming to and from the entrance to the outside deck. If you want to sit outside, you can access the patio from the L-shaped dining room. There is a main section of the deck, but that's only half the deck seating. in one corner there is a raised deck. This becomes the stage when live music is performed. There is another back deck that is somewhat separated and perfect for private parties and you're still close enough to hear the live music. For dinner, I tried the taco salad with shredded chicken. They were very generous with the chicken and everything was fresh and tasty. Our server was busy but still managed to be friendly and attentive. All in all it was a very enjoyable time and I can see becoming a regular here. NOTE: I would have given it 5 stars but as we were leaving one of the two front entrance doors that had a large sign across the top that said "This door to remain unlocked during business hours." was locked. read more

Rude service. "I've been here 30 years" and clearly that's too long. The older lady server was brusque and ill spoken. I guess some people might find it "cute" in a Flo kinda way. It's always really loud in there, so it's hard to have a conversation, but I guess that's to be expected from a bar. I prefer it in the summer so that you can sit on the patio, which is amazing.
