We came early enough that we got a booth no problem but note if you've got a larger party with little ones, you may have a wait - most of their seating options are high tops and they don't have highchairs. Now. Alaskan cuisine was a new one for me, but I was excited to try. We started our journey with some huckleberry old fashioneds. I love huckleberry and will always get it if available and this did not lead me astray. We started with crab dip which was a hit even with our baby. For the mains, my husband got the meatloaf platter and was obsessed. I had their specialty burger (a mix of beef and elk) that included arugula, goat cheese, jam and some onions - also top notch. We gave this unassuming little strip mile joint a try on Father's Day based on its great reviews overall, it was a very good experience. They do not offer high chairs and I definitely miss this is it meant that I had to try to juggle a beer and eating dinner with my 13 month old which definitely takes away from the experience so if you're gonna go in with kids be prepared. My son had the barbecue wings and they were very good. They had been smoked instead of just thrown in the fryer which was a nice touch. The blue cheese chips were really good as were the fish and chips. We had it with cod. It's such a simple dish, yet so many places get it wrong-but The 49th absolutely nails it. The cheese-to-bread ratio is perfect, with multiple types of cheese that work beautifully together. I added a baked apple slice, which added an amazing depth and balance to the flavor profile. The waitress, Hannah was so bubbly and kind. The Alaskan Brewing Co (which The 49th has on draft in a variety of options) has a killer Pale Ale! I happened to arrive during HH (2-6pm every day) - they have phenomenal deals. I ordered Fish and Chips as an entree and was not disappointed! The tartar sauce had a slight kick and was flavorful, the fries are super crispy and yummy, and the cod was lights out! We got the only available table and it remained busy until we left. My husband and I shared: - Fried Calamari (special) - Alcan Poutine Burger - Prosciutto in a Pear Tree Burger (special) They're busy for a reason - the food is delicious! Everything i've tried here has been great. The jalapeño poppers are unique and amazing, they are deep fried and served with a balsamic glaze on top. The fish and chips and burgers are also good. We showed up at the 49th and it seems that their policy is just to find a seat. In retrospect, the choice that I made was a mistake as the waitress in our section acted like she didn't even notice we were there. We had to ask somebody else to get menus. She finally came back around. We ordered a couple burgers and some drinks. When the burgers came, my wife wanted some ranch. She never brought that back so we had to ask somebody else to bring it. Finally we had to ask somebody else to get the check for us. It was amazing how many times she would be in and out of the kitchen and not even look our way. Amazing, the Cod was great and cooked really well, the Chicken Club was enough food to feed two! We also ordered two 24oz beers, Alaskan IPA's, the Icy Bay was hoppy. Atmosphere: we dropped in during March Madness and CSU was playing. Lots of TV's in every direction, music playing in the background, but overall not that noisy. Service: first time here and it was packed. We learned that you have to write your name on the chalk board. We were lucky to be the first on the list and were seated fairly quickly. When I first reviewed The 49th, it was 2019, and I was just celebrating the first anniversary of my bucket-list trip to Alaska, which was fantastic. I guess I wasn't expecting elk on the menu, but don't bother asking why--their burgers are the bomb. So is their take on brussels sprouts (NOM). Don't be bummed--the 49th original location on South Kipling is still open, but they've also opened a store at Prince & Santa Fe Drive, right near old town Littleton. Smart move! read more

This is a wonderful restaurant serving delicious food. My favorite is the Denali Jr, beef/elk combo. Delicious! Even my granddaughter who claims she doesn't like game meat, loves it! She wants to be sure to go every visit. Their food is better than bar food. The fries are the best (and I rarely eat fries - mainly because they taste like grease most of the time). These are fabulous! Their salads are beautiful and delicious. The salmon tastes fresh which I know is not possible. They must catch it, flash freeze it and ship it because it's delicious. Yes they have good for vegans, vegetarians and serious meat lovers. The beer options are great. They always seem to have a stout or porter on the menu and offer samples to buses choosing easier. Service is delightful, friendly, easy. The atmosphere is great. Big windows, bright and cheery. I go to the one on south Santa Fe and Prince. If you're looking for more of a bar feel, go to their place on South Kipling. Though that is usually much busier. I love the feel of the Prince St. place. This was our 3rd time here and I've gotta say, they still serve some delicious food! The decor is Alaska themed, and their menu has a nice variety. Service is friendly, but you can tell the servers are racing around a bit trying to also play host. When you get there, you have to write your name on their chalk board and a server calls your name. Problem is sometimes they don't cross names off, or if someone leaves they don't cross their name off either. Servers aren't sure who's actually there, and it's cramped. They could use a waiting area and front of house. This place is a little gem in an unassuming strip mall. They've also done crawfish boils during the summer, which is a fun change up.
