Super friendly and knowledgeable staff! I came in here hoping to find a lightly used pair of xc ski boots. Unfortunately they didn't have any used in my size, but I was able to get a pair of new ones within the budget I set in my kind. We worked with a salesman named Eric. I just had a phenomenal experience in here. I'm brand new to the ski world and I recently found out a pair of skis I bought have pretty rare (no longer made) ski boots. As a result I have been on the hunt for a couple weeks with limited luck. My favorite gently used sporting good store (Hoarding Marmot) only had one pair of the boots I needed and they were too small. I stopped by Play-it-Again and perused the shelves of well organized boots (better organization than Hoarding Marmot). I didn't see any boots that matched but luckily and nice gentleman was wandering by and asked if I needed any help. LET ME TELL you... he listened attentively and found me a pair of boots. Then he proceeded to give me a full on informational session about different skis and trail and bindings and boots and so on. He talked about weight suggestions and lengths. He answered all my questions (and my Dad's) far beyond our expectations. He must of spent a solid 30 minutes helping us. My only regret is not getting his name (he wasn't wearing a badge) so I could recommend him to others. read more

When I walked in the store I asked if they could hold my bag behind the counter. I went on to select my skis. The sales person helped me with everything. It was great until I went to pay. I told the cashier that the ski supplies I was purchasing was behind the counter and the bag I bought in. He gets the stuff. He also, set my bag on the counter with out a word to me and starts searching it with out my permission. I was very surprised, I didn't say a word. However if you would have seen my face, you would have known I was not happy. I just paid $600 for ski to get treated like a thief. I would have let it go of he would have said. Let me start by saying: I didn't buy anything here. Let me also start by revealing my bias: when I was a Karate kid (really) growing up in the south, I really wanted sparring gloves and boots. They were expensive and, being 12, I was unemployed. I eventually heard about Play it Again Sports, convinced Maw and Paw to take me there, and...I was really disappointed. Everything looked beat up and junky. It was like a crappy garage sale...that was promoted to an actual retail store. Fast forward to: a couple days ago. I was relaying this story to a friend, and he had similar memories. BUT, he said, he had heard the one in Anchorage was different. He heard right. The staff here is snappy and friendly, the merchandise is plentiful and clean. Seriously, I would have never known the stuff here was even used if it weren't for the name of the joint! They seem to be primarily focused on a couple sports right now: hockey, skiing, hockey, skating, hockey, and finally hockey. If you're looking for winter gear, definitely pay them a visit. read more

Yelp is telling me that many businesses are struggling right now and that if I had a bad experience, to consider that, as it is Covid times.. well! I am disgusted right now with play it again sports! I have been a customer for years and this Covid has really messed up things financially for a lot of us, including myself. I'm a single parent, which is not play it again sports problem, I know! But I have left money here over the years and was already planning on what I want to buy this winter again and also next spring. I did not have a Choice, I needed gasoline money today so I can go back to work tomorrow. So I called and asked whether they take skates. they said yes. Do I want to sell my sons skates? Hell no! You know at what price they low balled me for my skates and my sons? 7.50 each! 7 dollars and fifty fucking cents! For each pair!! So 15.- total! I started crying because I didn't want to sell our skates for that cheap cheap cheap ass price. And I'm supposed to be considerate because it's Covid? Are you being considerate? Not one fucking bit! Honestly.. f you! I'm not going to spend several more hundred dollars on this business when you are being the cheapest of the very cheapest! I would rather have a happy customer vs one with a sad experience over a few dollars. Then the kid told me oh I can only give 30% of what we could sell it for.. really?! Well then that means that I can buy my skates back next week when I get my paycheck for only 25.-? Wow! I'll be back next week to buy both of them back for 25.- each as you promised kid! This place is excellent for snow related sports: hockey, snow boarding, skiing, cross country. You need gloves... They got them... Helmets they go them...new or used cross country skiis they got them. Otherwise you need to go somewhere else. Volleyball gear... Non existent. Baseball... Non existent , golf....nada... Biking... what's biking??? Maybe the other location has more... But for snow related stuff they have some good basic selections, their helmets are reasonably prized, they also have used snow shoes, cross skiis, poles. Pretty nifty place! read more

Just before breaking in the roller blades on the Ocean Trail, thought it might just be a good idea to whip in here and grab some wrist guards (OMG they were a life saver!) Initially we were shown a couple on the wall, new guards for $14 - but they were L & XL. We asked were there any used? He said check the bin over there. Every single person in this business was professional, knowledgeable, and eager to help. We came in for a recumbent bike to change things up in our exercise routine and found an awesome, used Nautilus for a fraction of its original cost. It was in very good condition so we went for it. On delivery day, two guys came with it, and the two were very courteous and professional. I can't say enough good things about everyone who was involved with this transaction from start to finish. 3 days ago, my skates were stolen by some no good hoodlum. I was devastated and called play it again the next day to see if the filthy perp sold my skates to them. He had not, but Alex, the cashier, took down their information just in case they did show up. The very next day this disease ridden scoundrel walks into play it again and attempts to sell my skates to them, but Alex was onto his dirty tricks, he snatched the skates from the bumbling thug and kicked him out of the store. Alex then called me and I rushed down to the store, overjoyed, and picked up both my skates AND my sisters skates which I didn't even realize had been stolen. VERY disappointed in an experience that a friend had at this store. We rented this year and last year from Play It Again Sports. We just had friend whose child just started skiing at the ski team on JBER and rented at our recommendation from this store. After the first ski practice this past weekend, they had to go back to the store to attempt to exchange the skis after being told by ski instructor that the skis were too big for their child. The store manager at Play At Again Sports was very rude to our friend and would not exchange the skis, also stating that the Hillberg ski team did not know what they were doing and should go to another team. We are military and many of us have little experience in cold weather environments, so the team on the installation serves a very vital and economical way for our children to learn some of the fundamentals of skiing and winter sports. Would NOT recommend anyone go to Play It Again Sports. Any recommendations of a respectful, courteous store where to rent ski/snow equipment? read more

Play It Again Sports is an accurate statement if "it" involves hockey or ice skating. Otherwise, their inventory of all other sports is seriously lacking. I would've expected swimming goggles, a slew of basketballs, baseball bats, jump ropes, you know, the usual. There was nothing here. My dad took me here when I was seven- he bought me my first pair of cross country skis. This place brings back great memories!

We went to this store to purchase my son's snowboard. Originally we planned on buying used but the store had 50% off all new boards so we decided on that. The store is relatively organized. The staff was so/so. The man behind the counter was helpful but not overly friendly. The young man assisting in the store didn't seem to know a lot about the products we were looking for. Being this is the only used sporting goods store in town, I will shop there again but I think they could work more on their customer service skills. read more

I just shopped for a pair of used downhill skis today, plus accessories such as boots, poles, pants, and helmet. The customer service I received from a young man and lady working there was excellent and the young man that assisted me, was more than happy to help with everything I had questions on. Anything you need with skating, skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, hockey, and the like they have loads of new and used stuff. Only thing that was lacking was selection of ski pants and jackets for adults. If you like all the outdoor sports I mentioned above and are on a budget, this is the place to go! read more

All I wanted today was to get my figure skates sharpened. I have been skating since I was a child, so have a very good idea of what to expect after the skates are properly sharpened. Not only skates were poorly sharpened in this store, but when I returned to store to have them re-do it, the sales man with studs in ears insisted on loudly educating me on how the skate sharpening worked. After he contradicted himself several times in his overzealous explanation and seeing that I was not moving, he "graciously" agreed to have somebody sharpen them again. Seeing such "great" customer service, I sent my "big and tall" husband to get my re-sharpened skates the second time around. Needless to say, he got much better customer service than I did. I will not give my business to them ever again after such sexist treatment. Plenty of other sports stores in town. read more

The girl knew exactly what she was talking about, didn't pressure me to feel like I had to buy anything, but still walked out with used poles and new boots! Will be going back to get skis soon. THANK GOD FOR THIS STORE!! I live in Soldotna, Alaska, which is about 150 miles from Anchorage. In this small town, we really do not have much of a sporting goods store, so when my son joined little league, this store was my savior! I was able to obtain all of the equipment he needed, except baseball socks and other items. To make a long story short, my son had a game on a Tuesday, it was Monday and I was running around like crazy trying to find RED baseball socks. After practically going insane trying to find them locally, I got online and found Play It Again Sports. Not only were they very friendly, but they also offered to send the item overnight so my son would have them before his game. I received the items the following morning. (whew) I recently ordered other items through this store, and I will continue to shop exclusively with them. Every person have I spoken to has been extremely helpful and ready to find whatever I need. High praise for this store!!! IT ROCKS!!! read more
