Lots of mixed comments here about this place but I think it's great. They sell a pretty wide variety of used and new sporting related goods. Truthfully, the pricing is mixed and you may not get a great offer for something you have that may have some value if you are selling used. You may also pay a lot for something used that isn't that great either....BUT a few things to consider about this store/general philosopgy: 1. People tend to overestimate the value of their stuff 2. In order to have a successful business that can offer used goods (so hard to find in this world outside of the online world), you have to pay the rent, pay for the lights to stay on, the employees to offer the service that you get that's not online, and to make this sort of marketplace work. They also probably have a decent sense of what they can resell and what they can't...And, finally, and it's the big one for me - 3. There are legitimate deals and great quality used stuff that is reducing the waste on this planet, helping parents get sports gear for their kids at a more reasonable price and sometimes even great quality, and it's all about timing as the inventory is always changing, just like the sizes of our children. Play it again offers a way to exchange our kid's old gear, upgrade to the new, and then repeat without a bunch more $ht that we all end up with even if we have to pay a fee in the process. The people that work here have been nothing but kind to me and genuinely want to help. They pick up the phone when you call and are honest about the products. I have found a lot of great stuff here and try to buy used when I can/it makes sense. Depending on your timing again, it can be hard to find certain types of things and this is one weakness perhaps in the model. They tend to have a lot of balls, lacrosse sticks, but very few elementary age bikes for example, or roller skates in the size that you need. Some people seem to be upset about their return policy but I think they are pretty upfront about it. I have purchased from the Play it Again store before. I went into this establishment today and was about to purchase another set of clubs. I had my purchase at the front counter, and asked was there any wiggle room in the price. There is an African American young man at the counter, that was very disrespectful. He said " You asked me that the last time I bought a set". I then replied that the in Buckhead pretty much works with you a little on pricing. He then replies very snidely " Good for the Play it Again in Buckhead". I then asked to speak the owner. In which he was very disrespectful about his reply again. DO NOT shop at this location. Don't sell your bike to this location the owner will low-ball you! I sold my Specialized Diverge gravel bike to them by which is only 1-years old in mint condition that I paid $1000 for along with an older Kent Road bike and they gave me $270 for both! The Diverge bike was in cleaner and better condition than every used bike they had in stock! They had a beat down Giant bike listed for $549! Who's going to buy that? I confronted the salesman and he said Giant is a better brand than Specialized lol. They're both high quality brands! I only sold it because it was quick and fast as I'm switching over to electric bikes. I'm actually surprised these kind of stores are still in business?? read more

I came to Play It Again Sports as a first time shopper for a bike. My neighbor who is a professional and recreational cyclist suggested PIAS to buy a used bicycle since this was my first time riding a bike as an adult. I was immediately greeted and was helped right away. The young man, was very kind and knowledgeable. He did the best he could to find what I was looking for in a timely fashion. I found a Genesis bike within 15 minutes for $323 ($299 + tax). When I got home I wanted to share the news with loved ones as I was very excited about my new purchase. Upon researching the bike (which I wish I would have done initially), I found that it was sold BRAND NEW at WALMART for $40 cheaper. I returned to the store to process the refund and receive my store credit. When I expressed to the manager about finding the bike CHEAPER AND BRAND NEW at Walmart, he nonchalantly said if you would have been a part of our rewards program, you would have received 15% off. I was not told about a rewards program AND 15% off of a USED bicycle would have still been the same amount for a new one. Which one would you choose? Pay ~$260 for a USED bike or pay $260 for a NEW bike? The purpose of my post is just to warn you about the inflation on used bicycles at PIAS, especially if you are new to the sport. Do research prior to so you are not taken advantage of. I assumed (which I should have not) these were quality bikes offered at a low cost because they were used, but essentially these bikes can be bought elsewhere at a lower cost AND in better condition. The Play it again sports in Decatur is amazing, I went in for hand weights and was greeted less than a minute after I entered and was shown my options by the employee who was very unwedgeable and NOT PUSHY. he gave me $ options (which is important to me) and assisted me in getting my purchases to the counter. The gentleman at the checkout counter was laid back, easy to talk with and just as helpful as the first employee. The prices/service were everything I had hope for and more. How can you not like a store that is just trying to help the environment? Reduce, reuse and recycle with Play It Again! I bought a perfectly cool bike helmet here recently for $9. Brand new ones are $16 on Amazon, in addition to all the waste created in constructing and shipping the helmet to you. The employees were extremely informative and helpful. I really appreciate their kindness. They had so many different sports equipment in addition to hiking gear, exercise equipment and even helmets for scooters. If you wanna get a bike, I would suggest coming here first before going to a 'big box' store. Their prices are great & many of the bikes seem brand new. They have free parking also! read more

Terrible Service. And their stuff is grossly overpriced. Do not expect a refund. On anything. Even on new, unopened packaging that is returned in under 24 hours. We purchased brand new unopened gym floor mats for $35... then we found the same exact floor mats, In the same exact packaging and everything, in Walmart for $12... you could also find them on Amazon for $10. We tried to return the unopened package from play it again sports and they refused to give us anything but store credit. Store Credit is useless at an over priced store full of trash. We have tried for 2 years to support this store. We have found that EVERYTHING USED in store is priced at cost for brand new items (specifically the treadmills and weight equipment). Play it again sports is a store full of lightly used sporting gear/equipment at a slightly cheaper price than what you'd buy new Customer service goes a long way, and that's why i'm a fan of play it again sports. I came here looking for a bike, at a friend's suggestion, and while they didn't have any bikes I was looking for, the staff asked about the bikes I was considering, gave me suggestions not even related to the store, and then recommended another shop that might have what I needed. It probably isn't anymore, but one of the more popular (mis)quoted movie lines used to be "Play it again, Sam" from Casablanca (Humphrey Bogart actually said "Play it, Sam"). I have to think that Play It Again Sports at least references Mr. Bogart in their name. In any case, when my wife stated that we needed to go to "Play It Again, Sam", I knew what she meant. This location in the North Dekalb Mall is convenient for us, although until Yelp accepts my correction to the map locator you won't be able to check in, if you're into that. PIAS carries a surprising inventory of equipment, and not all of it used. They have many new items, most being accessories and such. Golf clubs, baseball bats & mitts, exercise machines and weights, tennis rackets (including three T-2000 steelies if you remember Jimmy Connors' playing days), kayaks, and more. This is a great local store that supports Druid Hills Youth Sports. That is the T-Ball league that my daughter plays in. We were able to find all of the equipment that she needed here and even baseball pants that were small enough to fit her. The staff is super friendly. I spoke to one gentleman who rang us up and he may ave been the owner for all i know, but he told me how he volunteers in the concession stand at the games and makes the best slushies. He had played in the leagues @ Medlock years and years ago and now he grandson plays in the league. It is really nice to go into a store and not have people trying to get you to buy stuff that you do not need and/or want. read more

Showed up with my exercise equipment. Guys were super nice and helped me get my stuff out of my car. Seemed like a great concept - they buy used stuff so that it doesn't end up in landfills. Guys checked out the equipment and said, "we will give you 33% of what we'd price it (In cash) at or we'd give you a larger percentage for a store credit." So, we'll give you $90. Seemed reasonable and they seemed genuine in that they were trying to be honest for what they could sell it for, citing multiple times the company policy. Went to purchase something from them and they have it marked up almost 1.5x what they said they could sell it for. So, I got about 22%, which is neither what they say or what the website implies. It would be a $30-60 difference, but I'm just more dismayed that a company who relies on the community to make money would lie about intentions. So, just be ware. Decent selection, but poor customer service. Visited today to browse weight sets, and while both employees saw me enter the store, I wasn't not greeted or helped. I waited ten minutes, and continued to browse, all the while not being acknowledged. I could absolutely understand if it was a busy day, however there were only two people in the store. While there is quite a bit to choose from, I found the prices to be extremely high (higher than brand new at a sporting goods store), considering the equipment is second hand. While attempting to support local, it seems I will be taking me business elsewhere. read more

I purchased 3 bikes and a bike rack here, 1 that they said was brand new. Unfortunately, once I got them home and tried them out, the "brand new" one spontaneously shifted gears and was not rideable, the other 2 had malfunctioning brakes, and the bike rack wouldn't stay tight to on the car and loosens itself. I brought them back the very next day for a refund or exchange, and sadly, the Manager said all bikes are sold "as is", and even though I just bought them the day before, they were not willing to refund anything. Please be aware, although they are helpful when trying to make a same, customer service AFTER purchase is not something they practice here, so purchasing here was a very costly mistake.. :( To add to the disappointment, I had brought 2 of my old bikes here to sell to them, and they said they just pay 30% of what they will sell them for, which I agreed to, but I saw they had them for sale in the store for $50 more each than they said they were selling them for, so they were dishonest with me. Do not buy a bike from this store. I bought a over price bike that had only the left side gear. It was Missing the attachment in order to put air in the rear tire. I hadn't ridden a bike an over 20years, so needless to say I didn't notice anything until my tire went flat and I couldn't put air in the tire. The bike shop owner told me your missing the left gears and your handle bars are too low. Go to a real bike shop, especially if you are not bike savvy or new to riding. read more

Recently stopped in this past Saturday as I was on the hunt for a pair of sunglasses for my granddaughter who was playing softball at Decatur Baptist. I explained to the staff person that I urgently needed to get glasses but could not spend more than $6 as she is only 9. He told me to pick out a pair from the rack and would accept $6 for them. What a God send as I did not have the time to run around looking for glasses. They were a HIT with my granddaughter and all her teammates! And they won their game! I did not get the gentleman's name. You paid the thief 45 dollars cash and don't even ask for his ID...seriously. The bike's serial number had been reported to the police so apparently you don't check. Bought a electric razor scooter there. I was told that i just need a $40 battery and will be good to go. Went to batterie plus to find out the scooter required 2 batteries at 43 each and they need to be sod. Charge the battery all night but the scooter was not working. Return the scooter , get my money back for the scooter but lost $85 for the batteries. Won't be back. read more

A pretty cool store inside the mall. Great staff that's friendly. Their equipment is used but they also sell new equipment, as well. Also, they have great prices on items like treadmills and such do you can pretty much get a good high end treadmill for about 250. I've bought some bowflex dumbbells from there. As for the old equipment, they don't just take anything. It has to be as good as new equipment, along with the dents, etc. Overall, good store read more

I went to sell some brand new sports equipment there. They give you way less than the 15 to 25 percent they quote. The manager or owner was mean to his employees in front of me and a store full of people. If you are looking to sell something fast I would suggest craigslist or even amazon. If you are looking to buy used equipment the Buckhead location has higher quality and reasonable prices. read more

I've been trying for years, but never seem to get a good deal. Their new stuff costs more than Dick's or Sports Authority and there used stuff is usually very used. On the occasion where a used item looks good, it costs as much as new somewhere else. And forget about getting a good deal on trading anything in. They will low ball you and tell you what bad shape your stuff is in and how they really don't need any of those now, even though you can see they do. read more

I walked in and immediately found the (used) stationary bike I'd been looking for. There was no used discount on the the retail price, but I decided to buy it anyway. The delivery cost, I was told, would be $70. I agreed, and doing so must have marked me as a sucker, because 10 minutes later the price jumped up to $100 for going 3 miles outside the 16 mile delivery radius. Supposedly, this new price came from management via phone, so the salesman's hands were tied, there was nothing he could do blah blah blah scam scam scam. I called the whole thing off, went home, and bought the bike online instead, brand-new, delivered for free. PLAY IT AGAIN SPORTS preys on consumer ignorance in the worst smiley-faced used car salesman sort of way. It's a joke. read more
