I was in need of a good shoe and wanted to change from the brand I had been wearing. I was told the Big Peach did a great job of getting you fitted so I decided to give them a try. Upon entering the store I could see the show wall and noticed they carried Hokas and I was interested in seeing for myself how they felt. There is even a treadmill for runners to try the shoes before purchasing. Fernando was wonderful. After telling him what I had been wearing and the issue I was having he gave me the VIP treatment. In addition to being fitted with the old-school sizer he explained to me why extra room was needed. I also had a foot scan done which was very informative. Fernando also showed me a few things I had been doing that can hinder the wear and tear on my shoes. I purchased the Hoka Bondi and with Fernando's advice I'm no longer adding to the wear of my new shoes. I look forward to purchasing from Big Peach again. I had a great experience at Big Peach Running in Decatur. I'm not a competitive runner, but I try to stay at least somewhat fit and was in need of some new running shoes. I stopped in to Big Peach, and was greeted as soon as I stepped in the door. Chide (I think that was his name) helped me measure my feet and select shoes. The process, which is totally free, begins with measuring the arches of your feet and where you put pressure. They then watch you run a bit to see whether you over or under pronate. From there, you'll measure your shoe size and pick a few pairs that will provide the type of support you need based on your previous results. I was in the store about 30 mins. The shoes run in a similar price range as other stores. I was shown 3 pairs between $120-160 which is pretty typical for quality running shoes. Plus as I mentioned, the service you get is standard. I was in on a Saturday morning and there 4 employees so people weren't having to wait on help. I was really happy shopping here and love the shoes I got. read more

I had not bought a new pair of real running shoes in about 10 years. I had no idea what I was looking for but it didn't matter since Jessie was so helpful in helping me narrow down all the choices the store had to offer, getting the right size and cushion for my giant foot with high arches, and was so patient when I wanted to walk around in EVERY pair she brought me to try out (about 5). Even when other customers came in she did not leave me and politely told them she would come and assist if they needed it after checking my purchase out at the counter. I have had a couple of bunion surgeries and my middle toe rubs in my various shoes and some sandals. The toe rubbing is a real problem when I go to the gym. The next day my toenail will discolor and be sore to touch. Anyway, I went here on a Friday to get fitted for some walking sneakers. The young man assisting me measured my foot with a regular Brannock device showing the length and width. Then he had me walk along a rubber mat about 20 feet and back. Then I did a jog on the same mat. We sat down and I tried about 6 different shoes and each one caused a different kind of discomfort. My second toe is longer than my big toe and my feet are wide especially the one that has undergone surgery. Though there was a treadmill in the corner we didn't use that nor was there any video recording of my gait or stance. However, the seventh pair that we tried was a winner! It felt great going on and during my walking. This particular brand is shaped like my wide foot so it gives me a wider toe box, enough arch support, and plenty of cushion. The price in the store was the same as online. The only downside for me was the color options. I am more of a plain Jane but these only come in certain color combinations. I'll live with it to not have foot pain when I workout. The sales rep was cordial, understanding, helpful, and kind. The atmosphere was calm. The checkout process was smooth and I even got something free and my ATC discount. Since I have worn the shoes in general walking and at the gym twice, I am pleased with my purchase and the service. I'm not a runner but I sure do walk a lot. I love kickboxing and Zumba. Those are my two favorite workouts. However, I do need to run. Running is free and I can enjoy nature. In the past few months, I have been working on my runs and have gotten better. I needed better shoes. One of my runner friends suggested to me Big Peach Running. My daughter needed new athletic shoes so I took her with me to get running shoes. There were different locations but decided on Decatur because it was the closest location to Stone Mountain, which we planned to go after getting shoes fitted. There was plenty of parking in Downtown Decatur. I grew up in Decatur so there was a lot of nostalgic moments driving through. I felt like a little girl again. While walking in the store, they were busy already but they reassured us that they will get back to us asap. Eric introduced himself to my daughter and me. We took off our shoes to step on this machine to measure our arches. He explained to us what everything meant. We both had medium arches. He went and got a pair of shoes for both of us to try on and run on the treadmill. It records our run to see if we run inwards cause if we did, he would have to give us a different type of shoes. I can tell you that those shoes are the most comfortable I've ever worn in my life. My daughter loved hers too. To my surprise, Eric comes back with more shoes to try on to see which one best seated our taste and comfort. He wanted us to try them all and walk around in the store. After trying 6 pairs, I narrowed down to the top 2. Then I put on each foot to see which one I liked more. Conclusion - the first pair for me. My daughter chose the last pair. Eric was so patient and sweet to us. I was impress with his service and the patience he had for us. We even bought socks and they were 25% off. He even mentioned that they have a good return policy and even after a few days if the shoes aren't for us, we can come back and return them. What?? 5 stars all the way. I cannot wait to come back. This is NOT the first time I've gotten a shoe fitting. First experience is with Phidppides and I can tell you that Big Peach Co is 100000x better. Seriously. I was only shown one shoe and did not measure my arch or record my running. Afterwards we went to Stone Mountain to hike up and down the mountain. Here's the thing...Staff at Big Peach Running are fantastic! I originally came here years ago for in-training Saturday runs for the Peachtree race in Decatur where the Atlanta Track Club meets. Before you can get your run on though, you need some shoes to fit you right for those extended miles. Big Peach Running staff are exceptional when it comes to customer service, fit testing you for shoes, and taking LOTS of time having you try on different shoes, run in them, and if you're not 100% satisfied, they have another shoe for you. If not 100% of them, the great majority of staff here are runners themselves, and have an idea about what shoe will work for you, regardless of how your pronation is. When there isn't a training program going on, Big peach running also offers afternoon runs too with staff. Are shoes/items expensive here? Sometimes, but check this out. For my last training program, partnered up with ATL track club, I ordered the VIP package ($140), which included the training program AND a new pair of shoes up to $120. Wait, what? So I pay $140, get shoes up to $120, and get access to all of the training at ATL track club, typically $60, for $20? What A Deal!!! Located off of E. Trinity right in the heart of Decatur, Big Peach has their own parking lot, which is great considering this is Decatur...although during training program times, the lot can get slammed and you may have to grab a spot at a nearby lot/parking deck....both in walking distance (both free after 6pm and on weekends too). Getting in and out of Big peach isn't a problem either. Excellent staff/service, great products, and really cool partnerships with one of the Largest run clubs in the Country....oh yea, there's multiple locations as well if you just can't make it to the Decatur Big Peach location too. He got a new running magazine and now had in his head the perfect shoe, so off we went. Unfortunately, after 4 stores he started to realize that he might not be able to find this perfect shoe in our area and since he won't buy a shoe without trying it on, we had to go with plan B. I remembered seeing a running store by the Decatur Square, kinda cause I thought the name was funny. When we went in, we were greeted by a friendly girl named Ashley. My husband told her what he was looking for and they did not have that shoe but she quickly recommend two other pairs. He started to huff and puff but when she returned he tried them on and low and behold he liked one pair. They did not them in his size, but she told him to go ahead and take a run outside in them. When he came back in the store, she told him they had the right size at another location and he could come back on Mon and try them on and see if he still liked them. I hate running. I think it is boring and painful. I have reoccurring bouts of shin splints that leave me crippled. I can run all day with a ball at my feet though and love every second of it. But running just to run with no sport or other goal involved? Hell nah. That said I realize that running is important and it's something I gotta do. I decided to start running again a little while ago. I hadn't really run seriously in an embarrassingly long time so I figured I should probably make sure that running would be as comfortable and pain-free as possible by getting really good running shoes. Well, this is the place to go if you need running shoes. They have an excellent process to get you into the best shoes that fit your feet, your style of running and your comfort preferences. First off, your arch gets analyzed. You run for a little bit on a treadmill while they record you to get a sense of your running style and pronation. You can then watch the recording and see if you run like a sleek gazelle, a powerful cheetah, or, in my case, a fat three-legged donkey. After they look at the footage and determine what you would need in a shoe, they select a few pairs of shoes for you to try on that match what you need. You then try them on, test them out on the treadmill or outside, and make your selection. Overall, it's a really good and thorough process for selecting the right shoes. The guy who helped me was very patient and helpful in helping me select the perfect shoe. It was some of the best customer service I've had in a while. The shoes are slightly pricey (you'll probably pay about $100 for a pair), but it is definitely worth it. They also seem to have a good selection of running gear here: shorts, shirts, jerseys, socks, nutrition stuff... I was also pleasantly surprised to see they carry Tifosi sunglasses here - I thought they were for cycling, but I guess they are popular with runners as well. I may be back to grab a pair. I postponed getting "fitted" for running shoes for far too long and have allowed my beloved husband to purchase his "thrift-store-fine" as long as it was my right size, for years. After my last major race, I suffered a knee injury that caused me to take a 2 yrs hiatus from running. I promised myself and my husband no more 'thrift store' sneakers should I ever run again. I really liked how they sized my feet and took an up close look at the actual shape of my foot. This helped the guy pick the best shoe for me. This is the best place to buy running/athletic shoes in Atlanta. Bold statement? Yes. The process they put you through to make sure you have the best shoes for your foot, gate, running style and strength is what makes this statement true. I went to the Big Peach because I had a coupon--I've been running 5K's since Sept. of last year and they usually put coupons in the race bags--and I needed new shoes to start the new year. First of all, they recycle your old running shoes. They give them to non-profit groups that work with kids and/or adults who want to try running as a positive outlet. Very nice. Secondly, my salesperson was "Jonny on the spot" about my shoe fit. He measured my feet and arches, put me in some sample shoes on a treadmill to check my gate and step and the brought out 8 pairs for me to try. All of the pairs were within my price range, and he gave me great advice about shoe fit (I didn't know you were supposed to be a size and a half bigger in running shoes?!). Thirdly, picking out a shoe was easy. I was able to get back on the treadmill to test any pairs I tried on, plus they had a short track to sprint in. Overall, my experience was awesome. I run or walk about 100 miles a month, so about 3 miles on average. I am not what you'd call a serious runner - do it because I love it (again, after a hiatus). I used to run races and even several marathons, so I know that high quality, properly fitting shoes are key to avoiding shin splints for me. So I buy running shoes every 4 months or so (gym shoes less often) - whenever I feel like it's time. And, call me a running shoe slut - I generally buy shoes at the store that's open and convenient when I decide I need shoes but only from quality local running shops located in Decatur (and we have at least 3 really great running shoe stores). This time, Big Peach won the lottery (or I did, slipping in right before closing on July 3?) and I am most definitely pleased that it did. I brought my current shoes with me so they could check the wear pattern. I was able to replace with the same model and got 5% off for donating the old ones. Terrific Brooks shoes for running in a fun bright green. I also discovered my new favorite socks - Thorlo Pads 10 - great colors, with a bit of cushion where it counts - much lighter than my old standby extra thick Thorlos. Big Peach also has very cute kinda sexy workout tops in cool colors, which of course I also had to buy. I'll be seeing you again, Big Peach! Warning - never park in their lot unless you are shopping there or willing to pay a LOT. I made that mistake ONCE when I parked there for "10 minutes" early one morning when the lot was virtually empty and only shoved half the required amount ($10, $20?) into the slot, my car was booted within seconds. Literally - and "the boss" required the lot attendant to charge me the full $75 boot fee to get my car released, not the extra $5 or $10 I stiffed them. Went to Big Peach in Decatur a few days ago and it was the coolest. I am not an avid runner but am trying to get into it (a slow and extremely painful process), so was slightly intimidated by the idea of entering an entire store dedicated to the sport, particularly assuming the sales people would all be crazy fit runner-types. I shouldn't have been so worried - staff were all extremely nice and really helpful, and completely unintimidating. I went through their fit process that helps them learn a little bit about your gait and how you run so they can determine what shoes will be the best for you (you have to run on a treadmill for about 10 seconds and that's pretty much it). The guy who helped me was respectful of my budget, and only brought out 3 pairs of shoes for me to start with so I wasn't inundated with information and options, which was helpful. They let me go outside and jog around the block in each pair to get a true sense for how they'd fit my foot while I was running. And there was no pressure on the sale, which is always nice. BIG PLUS: When I parked they saw I had my dog in my car (it was an unplanned trip - we were on our way home from the dog park) and asked if I wanted to bring him inside instead of leaving him in the car. They even watched him for me and played with him while I was outside jogging/testing shoes. I LOVE dog friendly establishments. I'll definitely be back. read more

I had an amazing first time experience at this BPRC. I've heard about BPRC from a few of my runner friends and they definitely lived up to the hype and expectations. The associate who helped me, Erin (sorry if i misspelled her name), was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. She was just as eager as I was to find the right running shoe for me. She mapped my feet to measure my arch and pressure points. She recorded me jogging to see my feet placement and come to find out I roll my feet when I run, something I didn't even know. She brought me about 6 shoes to try on and I was able to test each one on the treadmill thats in the store. In all honesty I didnt go into the store with the intentions to buy that day but the shoes I was placed in and the exceptional customer service got me there. Not a jogger at all but this spring I decided to start jogging at the park with my little girl so I thought I'd get me some good shoes. A bunch of people recommended this store cause they feet your feet to the shoes. The guy who helped us was awesome. I just had the absolute best retail experience at Big Peach. I bought a pair of Saucony running shoes there in July of 2015 and they were my favorite running shoes ever! Now, today, nearly two years later I went back. I was disappointed because the shoes still had a lot life left, and didn't seem to be worn out. However, the glue on the sole was worn out and the sole was peeling off. I went in to the store to get some suggestions or see what they might do. To my pleasant surprise, the sales associate asked if I'd like to exchange them since clearly it was a defect in the product. Now I've walked out in a new pair of Sauconys, an extremely happy customer. They know what's right and they do it without question.
