The clothing errs on the boomer side of things, but the coats, ski/snowboard pants, gloves, hats, etc. are really well represented. The kids section was excellent. My son was finally able to ski yesterday with my husband after being medically sidelined for a couple weeks. Anyway, they were on the ski lift after their third run when my son/husband noticed my son's skis were chunking apart all along both skis. My son had not crashed. My son is an advanced but cautious skier and with my husband the entire time. They were at Wild Mountain doing first season runs. Nothing wild about it. Anyway, when they returned I took the skis in as clearly there was a product issue. I was greeted by John in the ski department. I was, undoubtably, frustrated as my son had ski plans for today and starts school ski club Friday. John made a rude comment about me being frustrated and how "kids banging their skis together cause that kind of damage" that immediately put me on defense. My husband and son arrived at 10:45am and I had received a text about the skis falling apart by noon. I again repeated that they had only completed three runs and asked how that was possible my son damaged the skis. John continued to blame my son for the damage. Now my husband is a life long skier, I took skiing up as an adult, and if anyone should have damage to skis it should be me. My husband was floored as to cause as he has never seen skis do this. The manager was brought in and agreed to take the skis back, replace them and bind them (thank you) but that is where the only positive customer service ended. John came back to have me sign a release for mounting and kept going on needing to talk to my son about knocking his skis together (because that is what happened in his opinion) and would not let it go, again and again, even after I again stated this was noted after three runs, first season runs, at Wild. I finally asked John if the entire interaction would have been the same had my husband been standing there instead of me. John continued on. The manager stepped in and told John to give it a rest and he still didn't want to stop. I appreciate the quick turn around help from the manager but the front facing customer service was horrific. Hoigaard's lost a customer last night.

I came in for a running headlight. There were tons of options as headlights double for hiking, camping, etc. I was able to get a light and be on my way. However, it was a bit overwhelming with so much depth in every area, but "REI" depth - lots of base layers, rows of Gore-Tex jackets, etc. - not a lot of variety in brands and items - seemed a bit stale. I shop a lot at Scheels and Cabela's and they merchandise very well with lots of brands across different price points. It was also hard to find someone that worked there to help me even though the store was empty, but the checkout people were nice.

I recently experienced some sharp pain of unknown origin in my left foot while walking. it would…read morecome and go intermittently, especially when I was walking on the indoor track at the gym I belong to. I decided to see a Podiatrist, hoping I might learn the cause of this pain. Unfortunately, the doctor's examination couldn't positively identify the cause. He suggested that I try different walking shoes and/or some support shoe inserts. He gave me a list of some sport shoe retailers in the Twin Cities. I spent some time online checking out the list. One of the retailers listed was Gear Running Store. I was impressed with their website and decided to give them a call. I spoke to Maggie (a co-owner) and told her my story. She offered some suggestions and also invited me to visit her at the store. I took her up on her invitation and stopped by the next day. She was very generous with her time and gave me her undivided attention. She had me try out several different types of shoe inserts and also several different brands and types of shoes, all in an effort to find a possible solution to my mysterious foot pain problem. We were able to narrow the field down to a pair of Altra running/walking shoes that I tried out in the store. She then suggested that I also try them out for a few days on the track at my gym for a few days. Then, if they don't work out for any reason, I can return them for a refund. So, I tried them out at the track three times (I was careful to only wear the shoes while on the track). After the trial, I found that theses shoes were comfortable in some respects but they really didn't have any more impact on reducing the foot "pain" than my regular shoes did. So, I brought them back to the store (along with the original box and packing material) and turned them in to Paul (store owner). He was very pleasant and accommodating and promptly refunded my purchase. So, in the end, while these folks didn't make a sale in this case, they did gain a very appreciative customer who values great service from true professionals. I know where to find them when I'm in need of new shoes in the future. I will also be happy to recommend them to my family and friends. Thank you Maggie and Paul! David R. They know their stuff and are true OG snowboarders. I find myself wanting to go in there just to talk about snowboarding with these guys and they are more than willing to do it. They are also excellent "boardsmiths" and I have had several repairs and tune ups done here. Always excellent work and done in time for my trips. I cannot say enough good things about ZBS. Do not go to REI or buy online from a mega site. Support your local snowboard shop. This is a great one!

I was looking to be educated to make a decision on which board fit our needs not just our budget. I spent a little bit more but I have no doubt that making the stop today I have a board that will fit my sons beginner level, size and be a much better quality lasting board than had I just ordered online. I am all about supporting a local small business and they will definitely continue to receive our business going forward. Definitely visit for your skateboard, snowboard, and wearable gear needs! They have a great selection and know what they're doing.

Note, warmups (which are essentially jerseys) and jerseys (which are basically shirts) are priced…read morethe same. Often shirts are actually more expensive than jerseys (also called warmups). Either way, it feels like pure price gouging. There seems to be little to no competition, and teams are required to buy new sets every couple of years. Do not recommend. If you order from China, which you can do, they are priced at 80% or so discounted. But takes some planning and considering the time it takes. Note 90% of the time, the products you get from these guys are not made local or even in the US.

(Dang, some of the other teams have some pretty girly colors though!!!) My exchange was easy breezy and I even ended up with purchasing a pair of shorts to boot. The store is spacious, clean, well organized. The staff was helpful but they all were lacking the warm smiles that I love from great customer service. Maybe it's the brutal cold weather.
