My jaw just about hit the floor when I saw their pricing. For instance, the basic short field-marker cones: $2.49 a piece!? Are they made of gold? Nope. Are they at least something special in terms of material or weight? Nope. Then how do they figure? The only excuse I got was "each franchise is allowed to set their own pricing..". Apparently! Even their worn and completely bleached out cones were like 0.75c/pc (sold in packs of 10 so you can't sort through and at least get a couple that aren't totally trashed). As a reference other franchises are charging 0.25c and allow singles to be purchased. ...and this is only one example of the whole store. I thought I'd give this place another try! It has been years since I bought an elliptical that fell apart weeks after purchasing! Anyhow! That was long ago. Yesterday, my pops and I went in, looking to spend good money on a stationary bike. The customer service was non existent. The manager (the bald guy) literally looked passed us. It was noted that he was attentive to a customer that was already there. They left, and still no acknowledgement . I would not patronize their business. There aren't many sporting goods shops in town and this is the only one that sells used merchandise. Golfers in particular can get great deals if you get lucky with your timing. The staff is incredibly friendly and won't mess with you if you're looking to sell your old Spaulding Basketball or that fuzzy club cover you inherited from your crazy Uncle Jack. Conveniently located in the heart of Noleta, the selection is substantial, prices are reasonable, and you won't have to put out an APB to get help like you do at those big box sports stores. read more

Update from my last post. The heavy bag that i bought brand new (the second one, not the one that I had put on hold that they sold anyway) broke the first time i used it. One of the four support straps broke off after just a few minutes of using the bag. No, I'm not an MMA legend and no, I wasn't in Rocky IV. I am 6'3" and have done some Muay Thai, but this is a heavy bag.... its DESIGNED to be punched and kicked.... right? Interested in maintaining my training, the next day (the second time i used it) two other supports broke. I took the bag back to them and explained what happened and i asked for an exchange - the bag was clearly brand new. After ten minutes of browsing the store, the gentleman came to me and told me that he wouldn't be able to give me much at all for it. He hadnt even looked at the bag and certainly hadn't listened to what I had said when I came in. It took me a few minutes to understand what he was trying to tell me as the concept of an exchange didn't seem entirely difficult to me. He thought that I was trying to sell it. With no way to hang it. A manger was called in and he offered to contact the manufacturer which I appreciated. A few days later, I got a call from the manager telling me that they would give me a small store credit and that was the best they could do. This is understandable so I thanked him for his time and told him I could come in soon. I went into the store the other day to pick up a new heavy bag with the credit they had discussed with me. I asked the gentleman behind the counter what my credit balance was and he told me that I had none. After this whole situation I'm officially done with this shop. If you're going to sell new things in addition to old things, you really need to have a better system in place to deal with defective products and have some kind of internal communication system with the other people who work there. The owner is a little intimidating. He may have just been in a bad mood, but I had an uncomfortable experience in the store. He was gruff and barely looked at me. Plus, the store only had one of the three items I came in for (even though I had called beforehand and got different info). Yay! I know they have overheard, but that's just insanely low. Also, their prices aren't very good. Just browsing I noticed that some of their stuff was twice what you'd pay at Amazon shipping included. This place was awesome!! A hidden gem! Zach helped my family find baseball mitts ( new and used) and even taught mom how to not throw like a girl. I felt awesome when we left with our bag of gloves and different size softballs and baseballs. Came home and we've been playing ball for weeks now. I feel like he brought our family together in a whole new way! I just went in the store for a pump to blow up our little pool and came out with something much better! Disappointed! I brought 2 high quality bikes in which the young sales man immediately took, and gave me the impression I would be compensated well. We unloaded the bikes from my car and we realized I left one of the bicycle seats at home. Upon return with the seat I was told that the boss was now in the store and multiple penalties were being deducted for a variety of seemingly benign and ridiculous reasons. Customer service is decent, they want you to think they are giving you a good deal but really they are ripping you off. I took in my barely used golf equipment in and they started to tally everything up, then they informed me of how much it was worth and how much I would get... 375$ of total merchandise and they offered me 105$ in a form of a check... I rented a surfboard from these guys and it was barely functional. It was really beat up and was totally unstable paddling out. I couldn't even use it. I rented another board from a shop on the beach (for half the cost I might add) and it was perfectly normal. When I asked the manager if he could cut me a break on the rental cost since the board was so terrible he said "It's a surf board. It's gonna be unstable." I will never shop here again. The yelp app won't let me give zero stars, or I would. Very unhappy with my experience here. read more

This place is great!! I cleaned out my garage and was going to throw a bunch of stuff away, but my buddy said I should at least stop by and see if I could get anything for it . I ended up getting $156 for my stuff that I originally didnt want to bother with. I ended up putting it toward a used bike that was in great shape and probably half the price of when it was brand new. This place is a win - win!! read more

First let me begin by saying this place deserves a zero star rating but, unfortunately this is not an option. Looking for a venue that purchases used sporting equipment, I was happy to locate an establishment ..Play it Again Sports in Santa Barbara. I did some browsing on their site, as to per policy, exchange ratio, and fitness/sports items they are specifically looking to buy. Snowboards and elliptical trainers were just a few of the types of equipment they had under the "MOST WANTED" section. Excited, being as I had both of these items I took a trip there. Upon entering on the first trip, I was dumbfounded to see the lack of professionalism, incredible immaturity and petulant personnel. I had arrived with my SIMS DIVA snowboard, and clip-in boots . Soon I was approached by a member of staff who proceeded to tell me that is was "off season" and that I would not receive a good return on the board/boots because of this. I had researched the website two days previous to going there and being that this place is a state of business one might think to specify these variables on the website, otherwise it appears as inconsistent/incongruent information that ultimately wastes ones time and energy.. Being a bit confused I said ok and asked about the elliptical . The staff member said they were very interested and to bring it in. This piece of equipment is 250 lbs, not easy to move by any means as well as a top of the line machine. A few days later I returned again with the elliptical. This time I spoke with a different employee who I briefed on the previous encounter. He asked to see the machine we proceeded to head outside, but before actually making it to the machine he was pulled aside. Standing there, I watched a bald middle-aged man speak snidely with him as to the regard of the situation. While speaking with him the bald staff member approached and swindled his way into the conversation. Not only was I put off by his pathetic used car sales man attitude, I was shocked by his inability to give me a straight answer. Not only did they low-ball me with an incredibly ridiculous offer but when I asked him about the machines that were not even of remote caliber to mine that were selling for triple what he offered me, he could not produce any legitimacy to the fact. In conclusion If you are seeking a crooked,shady, fraudulent, swap-meet like feel with multiple inconsistencies poorly trained personnel and an exorbitant decay of time and energy then head on down to PLAY IT AGAIN SPORTS SANTA BARBARA!!!!! read more

This place is great! My niece and nephew were visiting from Arizona and we stumbled in after grocery shopping at Von's. They have everything...The staff was friendly and super helpful. The manager(I think his name was Zach) helped my nephew pick out a new skateboard. He walked him through every step and they built a board from the wheels up for Spencer. It was such a great experience for him to make all his own decisions on all the different parts and see his finished product. Darren (another employee) helped us pick out a baseball mitt for Spencer and knee pads for Sophia for her trip to the ice skating rink. We had a great time and I was surprised at how many different sports are covered in the store..Everything from new & used golf equipment, to bikes, surfboards & accessories, exercise and weight equipment.
