I've been at this location several times and service always impresses me. Famous footwear has a great app, with cool kickbacks and good coupons. In theory this would be great .... if someone was actually working that department. So we waited .... and waited .... and waited. Five minutes past and still no one came to help us. At this point I contemplated crawling under the door to unlock it. JOY! I see an employee walking towards the fitting room. She walks into the fitting room section .... And just ignores the two of us waiting to try on clothes. Does she not see us there? How could you not see us? I thought it was a joke. She doesn't even look our way and instead walks out to help someone else with a fitting room. At this point I am highly annoyed. Needless to say we walked out without making a purchase. I did online research and called around to other equipment shops but no one was as helpful as Chris at Nicols. First, she answered my questions in depth over the phone, even calling the other location to see if they had was I was after. When I went to visit her in the shop, I felt like she was the first person I could talk to who really understood my skill level, and the equipment that would be best suited for me to improve. She took the time to listen to my experiences. When I told her about some of the runs I was trying to do at Boyne, she knew exactly what I was talking about. She was really supportive in answering questions about skis I found elsewhere. I really felt like she cared. I didn't get my skis here (went with an older model), but I bought my boots (Chris helped me pick them out) and had them install the bindings. The prices in the store seemed really fair. I expected them to be high for a specialty, in-store shop but that didn't seem to be the case. My husband made a special request and asked them if they would do the bindings same day. They said they would try (no promises) and ended up getting it done! They also carry accessories and apparel, like snowpants. I am so pleased to have found Nicols! I now have a go-to place in my neighborhood for equipment, gear, accessories, and apparel!
