Terrible experience. I came here with my boyfriend and his friends, and he clearly told the staff that he is allergic to bananas and requested no banana in his smoothie. Despite this, the employee prepared the smoothie with banana while we all watched. When we asked again to confirm there was no banana, she said there wasn't even though she had just added it. We had to throw the smoothie away without even being able to drink it. As we were leaving, she then mentioned that bananas are regularly used in the blender, meaning there could be cross-contamination. This should have been communicated before paying and preparing the drink, especially given a stated allergy. This situation could have been very dangerous. There was a clear lack of attention and awareness regarding food allergies. Staff should be properly trained to handle allergy-related requests. I would rather go out of my way to another location than return here. read more

I LOVE Playa Bowls! This location, being a short walk from the beach, is amazing. Their smoothies are fun and refreshing (I've tried them all) and perfect for an Atlantic Avenue stroll. My favorite treat here is the classic acai bowl. You can customize to your liking and it's always delicious. They have multiple types of bowls, too, including mango, coconut, banana, and pitaya. So good! I love a place where you can pick your base and here, your bowl can be acai, coconut, kale, papaya, and so much more, with all the fruit and granola toppings you can imagine. I was so satisfied with my Nuteloco- coconut with Nutella. So delightful. My daughter and husband went with acai, and they loved theirs. It was not inexpensive, but in alignment with Delray Beach pricing. Get ready to splurge, but it is worth it. Clean spot with good service. Stopped in on my way in from the beach and asked one of the employees what they recommended and they said the Kowabunga smoothie with banana protein. It was delicious! They got my order out quickly and it was so good that I came back later to try another smoothie. I then tried the Matcha and also purchased two of their juices. When i stopped by the second time they were busier but still got my order out in a timely manner. Loved having healthy options to choose from and a variety of selections to jump start my health journey. The shop was small but cute and had photo worthy walls as well as outdoor seating. Today, while walking in downtown Delray, my friend and I stopped upon one and decided to go in, and I am so glad we did! They had such an extensive menu! It wasn't just acai bowls, you could get mango, coconut, Pitaya and more! Can't make up your mind? Do what I did and have a half and half bowl. I had half coconut and half acai. I chose the tropical. I don't know what I was expecting, but this blew it out of the water! It was so fresh, and so tasty! The fruit was beautiful and sweet. This is a nice stop right by the beach. The menu inside is busy/difficult to read, but the website is clearer. Also helpful to look up the nutrition info - these bowls are not necessarily "healthy" although they are tasty! The prices are varied for what you get. The oatmeal bowls are smaller than the fruit-based bowls, and $10 for a bowl of plain oatmeal with honey and banana is definitely over-priced. For the acai or chia bowls with 4+ toppings, the price is more reasonable. The coconut base is sort of like a frozen sorbet and melted pretty quickly so would not recommend getting in the Florida heat. The 16oz iced coffee ($3.50, about a grande size) is chicory based which is more bitter than most iced coffees but still refreshing. Adding a pump of flavor to the iced coffee is nearly double the price ($5.50). They let you half-and-half the different flavor bases and add or remove toppings to customize bowls which is great. FYI - the prep station is all in one location and gets messy so definitely not cross-contamination-friendly for those with allergies. read more

My favorite bowls would be the Tropical Acai and the Tide banana bowl. I absolutely LOVE trying the seasonal bowls. They just switched their fall seasonal bowls to Winter theme and last week I tried their North Pole bowl . When I say its the BEST bowl ive ever had here I am not exaggerating. It tops my two favorite by far. Its as if its a Christmas party in your mouth if Christmas had a flavor. I always enjoyed that it tasted like youre having dessert for breakfast. Highly recommend. Playa Bowls is spectacularly good. It's like an explosion of fruit flavor in your mouth. Perfect fruit with no blemishes. I had the Pura Vida and had them add bananas to the beautiful strawberries and blueberries on top of a luscious perfectly sweet sauce with granola and honey. The sauce was delicious--ice cold almost frozen. The sauce was just right--not too sweet, not too sour!! Playa Bowls gets my highest recommendation! My family and I were in town for a week and ate here no less than three times. It runs a little pricy ($30-$40) for three items but I wouldnt say it was too expensive (certainly not enough to disincentive me from coming). The fruit was fresh, the bowls were aesthetically pleasing which is a bonus and you felt good after you ate it all. My kids loved it too. We got them the Neutella oatmeal and they crushed it. I also got the cold brew one morning which was excellent and often times, cold brew can be garbage at a place thats not a coffee shop. I got the Green Room, but for some reason it came out this pink color. When I asked why it was not green, they told me it was "followed by beets" and did not understand my confusion.
