We are big fans of this Playa bowl location! It is usually busy, especially during the warm in-school months. That said though, the servers are normally kind and work very quickly. We only usually wait like 10-15 minutes for bowls on a busy day. There is cute seating inside, very beachy/Hawaiian surf vibes. Our favorite thing to do is to order to-go and sit outside down the campus on the colorful chairs. If you plan to stop by, definitely try our favorite, the stupid cupid bowl. read more

The food is delicious here but the service is not. I waited 25 minutes to be given a medium smoothie whilst 7 other customers came in bought a bowl and received it in 3 minutes or less all while they kept looking at me between orders and doing nothing. This location's customer service sucks. I WISH they were better because I live so close and my family and I love açaí bowls but man the customer service is just horrible. Every single young woman there seems like they hate their job. The atmosphere is as if they are annoyed you came in the store. The smoothies are frothy and don't taste the best it's just as if they don't care what they are giving out. I tipped 6 bucks and spent 40 something dollars today. I got almond butter for a dollar extra added to my bowl and they barely put any on there when I ask for more I'm told it's going to be a dollar extra. I was UPSET to say the least. Granny loves this place! She would eat it for all meals if she could. The nica bowl is what she orders every time because of the coconut and nuts. Service was polite and I didn't have to wait very long for the bowl. Parking is such a thorn in my side. I had to park about a block away in a lot I'm not sure I was supposed to, then walked over to Playa. There was some street parking but none was available because it's a college town. read more

Venue: small, cute, quaint, clean. It is beach/surf themed. Some room for a group, but mostly individual seating. Service: quick, easy, friendly. Pick from the massive menu on the wall and then go up to the counter and order. They make it right there in front of you. Very friendly to answer questions about ingredients if you have any but most of that info is plastered on the wall so just look around. Parking: it's right on the rowan campus so tons of foot traffic. Plenty of parking whether street or parking garage. It is free for 2 hours in the area so there shouldn't be any issues. Food: bowls are sooo fresh, they make it right there. Fruits have all been delicious. I've tried the special bowls, the coconut bowls and the açaí, all with varying toppings. Still waiting to try the green bowls and some of the chia bowls. Sooo many to choose from. I tried the chia bowls today and it grew on me, initially was off putting, but by the 4-5 bite, it was actually pretty good. Prices: a little bit more pricey than it should be. It is right on campus so I imagine this may need to eventually be adjusted unless I'm oblivious to the worth of the average student around here. Overall, a great place, I enjoy the freshness of everything. I have a loyal card and can't wait for my free bowl cause free always is best. I ordered through grub hub during this pandemic because my sister and I wanted something different to snack on. I've never been to this location before. A mask was required to go in and they only allowed one customer at a time inside. Grub hub seemed to be a little delayed. I showed up 20 mins before my order was supposed to be ready and it was finished. I ordered the nutella bowl and my sister ordered the berry bowl. They were both prepared exactly as we expected. I would definitely give this place a try if you're in the mood for a healthier snack! One thing is on their grub hub you can not create your own bowl, you have to choose from the options provided but there are plenty and you can leave notes on the order as well to customize it. read more

This is a really cute place with a California theme. The inside is small but nicely decorated. The menu is extensive as far as the açaí bowls, green bowls, shakes and some poke selections. We ordered the tropical bowls. My daughter substitutes strawberries for coconut flakes. The servers were really nice and service was pretty quick. The serving on my daughters poke bowl was really skimpy. It was $12.50 which is rather expensive for poke. However, since that isn't what this places focuses on, we could overlook that. As someone who struggles with an allergies, this location was extremely helpful with making sure nothing was cross contaminated. My beloved Playa Bowls has GREATLY expanded from their initial location down in Belmar beach. FYI if you have not been to this shore point, you should go cuz Belmar is sooo chill. Anyways, I was visiting my niece in the area and we were both in the mood for some açaí bowls. The location still emits that beach vibe and even has a surf board as a table. KEWTTT. One of my faves from Playa is the 8th ave bowl. The açaí puree base was blended fresh to order and kept simple with sliced strawberries, plump blueberries, crunchy granola and sweet honey drizzle. I really like this place. It's located just about on the Rowan University Campus, so as such, it's got that university vibe--and I am far removed from that at my age. Every Saturday, my daughter and I work out together at the gym and then have breakfast/coffee at a cafe. Last Saturday we went to Playa Bowls instead. The menu selections are numerous and not being familiar with these type of bowls, I had to read nearly every single one. So you may want to find their menu online before heading here. I ordered a Chia Seed Pudding bowl with granola, banana and peanut butter. The girl taking my order offered to let me taste it first, remarking that there are times people order it and then are disappointed because they don't like chia seed pudding. I declined since I already know I like it, both taste and texture. This bowl did not disappoint! For something healthy, it went down decadently. It felt more like dessert than breakfast, and I'm thinking calorically, it was probably more dessert than breakfast--yet everything was healthy. The peanut butter was unsweetened. The granola was not too sweet. My daughter had an acai bowl with peanut butter. There were other toppings and I think granola. I would definitely order this next time. The acai was creamy and a cross between jelly and pudding--very smooth and sweet. The staff are college-aged and probably students, and extremely nice and helpful. The shop was clean and bright. Lids are available for your taking since the bowls are so large it's hard to finish them...but the price tag does match the size of the bowls, so I'm not surprised the shop wasn't packed on this crisp Saturday morning. I'm thinking it's a bit out of reach for regular visits from poor university students. All in all, it's an awesome place for a healthy bowl. I'll be back again after the gym. read more

I'm so glad there is a smoothie/juice/açaí bowl place in the area. Always consistent service and quality fruits. On the expensive side but expected. I've gotten everything from the juices to smoothies to açaí bowls to protein bites. I'd recommend all but the protein bites. They also have oatmeal bowls and poke bowls and seasonal flavors. I finally got a chance to do in the memorial weekend to try the new Bowl spot on the boardwalk. Ambiance: it has a great beachy feel with a whole seated section to enjoy your bowl without the harsh sun melting your food. The menu is very easy to read and navagate. Service: even with it being packed with a long line the service was fast and freindly. I couldn't ask for better. Food: I ordered the dragonberry bowl with added almonds and I was so impressed. The portions were great and very filling.The granola they use is different and their own, in fact you can buy it on site. It had a great flavor and crunch to it. The also serve everything from oatmeal, chia bowl, to poke bowls. Overall: this is a true Jem on the boardwalk for those of us tired of the usual pizza and Ice cream fare. Good location for the college students that makes a "healthy snack" easily accessible. A little on the pricy side (mine was $11), but healthy options do come at a price, i guess. I can see how the parking can also be a little tricky for people who do not live on campus, but not the worst. The atmosphere inside is fun, can get a little cramped. I chose the Nutella Acai bowl, i guess my first issue is that I didn't know, that I don't like acai that much, my mistake. The fruit on top was super fresh and tasteful. I loved the fruit with the granola and nutella but the base was just not my style. I did try my friend's Nica bowl, which had a banana base- this was EXCELLENT. And another friend got the Stupid Cupid which has strawberry and banana as the base, also good. Next time i'm back in the area I will be ready to try another! read more

The girls that work there amaze me. The work force is embarrassing. They still have juices on the menu that they aren't even serving. I asked for a splash of sweetener. I came here mid day on a Saturday. I ordered a banana Nutella coconut bowl, the combination sounded great but I left feeling over charged and unsatisfied. It was close to 13$ for one bowl. The smoothie mixture is poured in the bottom and then toppings are adding on lightly on top. The employees looked miserable and were frantically running around trying to keep up with the smoothie order. But sometimes when im in glassboro I stop there, all 3 times I've been there they've come off as rude, I always give places more than one Chance because it's very easy to make a mistake. I had the power açaí bowl and asked for strawberries added on top.. and it was really good. Portion size is huge and I was only able to eat half the bowl (and put the other half in the freezer to eat for dinner). I just went for the first time and was not impressed. I got the Almond Joy bowl, which has a chia base. I wish I had taken a picture but it was almost 75% chia pudding and the rest topping. If I had to guess there would have been about half of a banana, a handful of coconut and granola, and a few chocolate pieces. It would have been nice to know before ordering what the bowl would look like in terms of content, then I would have ordered something else. I also did not like that they don't list the nutritional information. 2 tbsp of chia seeds is about 160 calories, and I received at least a cup worth...that is well over 1000 calories in chia seeds alone. It is very misleading to think that the food there is "healthy".... There was no nutritional information available and I couldn't find anything on the website. Overall, I was not happy with my experience at Playa Bowls. It is misleading and extremely overpriced. In addition, the staff was not necessarily friendly or fast. I went with my roommates tonight and received literally half of a bowl of acai base in comparison to BOTH of them. We held it up and compared, then compared our prices, and paid the exact amounts, which made me extremely upset. Me and my friends waited almost 45 minutes for our bowls. When we got them, they were half way filled up when they're usually filled all the way. We complained about it and they said "they're measured, they probably just gave you extra last time" which I think is ridiculous. If you give extra one time, then you need to do it every time. If you don't wanna do that, then don't put extra in the first place. They remade them, but put coconut on them when we asked for none both times.
