Have been sooo excited about this place since I've been to the ones in NJ where they originally started. They pushed back opening date so i was eager to finally try it when it opened Jan 17. My hubby and I went after the gym. Figure we could use it as a post workout treat. We got there and it was a windy and cold day. There wasn't as many people as I expected for the grand opening day. But that was nice as I didn't want to brave a crowd. We got inside and it's a small shop but cutely decorated like all the other locations. The menu is smack dab when you walk in though so in order to view it your standing right in the small foyer where the front door is. We were blocking the entryway for awhile trying to see the menu. The reason it took so long to order is they have added way more to the menu since I've been to the ones in Nj over 7 years ago. Too many options and choices felt overwhelming. Alas, we decided what to get and ordered. We had won at a previous event a 'buy one, get one bowl free' coupon so we ordered 2 bowls and a package of protein balls. The total was $28 which was very expensive for 1 bowl and some protein balls (the other bowl was supposed to be free.) I pointed it out to the cashier and she asked "why". I told her bc I had a free coupon. She said oh all the coupons looked the same and fixed the price. No biggie, I know how first days can be chaotic! Just pointing out in case others have coupons from their promotional events so that you make sure to get the discount. We didn't wait too long before we ate. My açaí protein bowl was mid. It had açaí, granola, banana and PB. I've had better. It boasted of 42g protein but didn't really leave me full for very long. My hubby got a cocobowl which was a coconut base with coconut banana and almond butter. He didn't care for it. I tried it and it was very very coconut. So if you like that you'll love the coconut base. When I used to go to playa bowls they only had pitaya and açaí. Now they have so many bases (which I left a pic of) so choose wisely bc it will be the main flavor you taste. I thought his was ok but again you'd really have to love coconut. Honestly opening in Jan when it was sooo cold out was also a buzz kill bc it just made the bowls colder BUT I can see this as being a fantastic place to be when the weather warms up again! It would be nice and refreshing! This was not that day though. I don't know if we'd honestly come back too often. The prices are fairly expensive especially for such a mediocre flavored experience. I may come back to try some other flavors to redeem itself. Sad bc I loved Playa Bowls in its original years in New Jersey.

Luckily for us, his recommendation was spot on as La Ola is a great little ice cream shop with a large variety of different cures to whatever your sweet tooth desires. Parking is pretty accessible as it's in a small strip of stores and restaurants and there's ample outdoor seating as well to take in a nice summer night. The interior of the store is also nice and clean, making you feel like you're in a well run place from the moment you step in. We ordered a banana pudding scoop in a cone and a scoop of the Cookie Monster in a cup. The line here moves pretty quickly which is good so we didn't have to wait long from the moment we entered to the moment we began eating outside. The ice cream was delicious. The banana pudding tastes just as advertised with chunks of Nilla wafer throughout the bites, incredibly spot on. The Cookie Monster also tasted great, essentially a cookies and cream scoop dyed blue, but why not have a bit of fun with it? The whole experience was great and if ice cream isn't your thing they have numerous other options like shakes and ice pops to get you by. The only ding we can think of is that the trash outside was overrunning and looked like it hadn't been changed in hours. Nevertheless, we're very glad we stopped by here to get a sweet treat and would highly recommend it to anyone in the far South Austin/Kyle area looking to cool off on a summer night.

I went in just hoping they'd put a salad in a wrap and they were so accommodating! The manager (I think) even confirmed each ingredient and suggested skipping the croutons which I agreed with. The wrap really hit the spot! Only small complaint was that they panini pressed the wrap which led to some limp lettuce- I didn't know the wraps would be pressed. But this was a small issue and the wrap was satisfying. The husband got a sandwich and said it was good though the bread was cut a little unevenly. All in all I'd come back for the great service alone.

I just received a sandwich from them for lunch today via delivery. I only get tomato, spinach and onion as vegetables, so there is plenty of room to add all 3. This is the third time I've gotten paper thin, half moon slivers of onion and tomato. My last sandwich was missing spinach. I know the cost of things are expensive, but I think they could spare a few more slices of their extra thinly sliced vegetables. This sandwich today. I picked off the banana pepper, im not sure if they added that by accident or if my husband put it on the order.
