Tide Bowl - banana blend base with granola, pineapple, kiwi, mango, honey, bee pollen and goji berries
    Lisa S.

Playa Bowls is one of the more well-known establishments to grab an açaí bowl but I've never been there until today. I see them all over town. Other places I've been to for açaí bowls never really "wowed" me. My favorite thing about Playa is their MASSIVE menu. There are so many options to choose from; it can actually get a little overwhelming to decide. Nonetheless, I love banana so naturally I chose a bowl with a banana base. It was called the Tide Bowl. Highly recommend, especially with bee pollen as the topping and the mixed fruit on top. Simply delightful. The inside is colorful, pleasant and cheery. The music choices were very good, too. A good throwback playlist from the early 2000's. I was vibing! Portion sizes are great for the price of each bowl. I'll be back again on another warm day!

So here's an update to my initial review.. I've been a big fan of playa bowls for a while now, and they usually knock it out of the park. But my last visit was kind of a bummer. The fruit in my bowl looked old, the granola was stale, and there were some big ice chunks in the açaí. It just wasn't up to their usual awesome standard. Not to mention, their bowls are pretty expensive and I'm a student and I usually get playa bowls as a treat for myself so I was pretty sad when I saw my bowl and kicked myself for spending so much. I'm hoping this was just a fluke because I really love this place.

They finally have a good working AC... and as usual, the Mucho Mango is the way to go... it steals the show. It's cool in there, amazing artwork, and very quiet. The staff are very respectful and fast with the order.

first time visiting this well-known chain! i stopped by on a hot summer day for a refreshing drink and got the pink pitaya smoothie. the smoothie was honestly extremely mediocre, it was terribly sweet and tasted artificial. i found the drink hard to finish, and i definitely would not order it again. the store itself was colorful and well-decorated. not particularly clean, but not filthy either. the staff were fine, not particularly nice or friendly, but they did their jobs. i don't have any plans to come back, but i would be open to trying another smoothie or a bowl if the occasion arises.

Great smoothies- but what kind of business makes their employees work indoors without AC during the summer? Seems unsanitary.

First one we gotten was the triangle and then tropical island and finally a HI passion. Each has its own different flavor and all so good. And i had a shot of wheat grass. It was so good and fresh and sweet. And the drinks were chilled but not water down or separated after a bit of time. My little one loved the Hawaii Passion and that was kale, spinach and pine apple. I love my drinks and fresh juices and this is definitely a must. The ladies were all so nice behind the counter. Cant wait to go back again

I think the freshness is what I needed. They have options for smoothies and juices, but technically you can choose a mix of any 3 fruit to blend in a cup. However, they don't list out all the fruit options they have, so it was a bit too much work to scan through all their combinations to get a sense of the potential choices to choose yourself. It costs more to request for no ice. Small cup is the least worth in terms of $ per oz. Medium and Large cup are same, so I got a medium. I got the Golden Fruit which comes with apple, lemon, and pineapple Part of me was hoping that there would be a base with some sort of milk to help provide some freshness while helping me round out my appetite. They didn't state it nor did I taste it. The smoothie came out a bit watery which I guess makes sense given the fruits involved.

My concern wasn't that I wanted more buttercream. It was actually the opposite. I felt the square slice had far too much frosting on top and not nearly enough actual cake, which made the ratio feel unbalanced. The response stated that I "didn't enjoy the ratio (more cake and filling, less buttercream)," but that wasn't what I was trying to say at all. I'm disappointed that my feedback seemed to be misunderstood or misrepresented. I completely understand that ingredient costs have increased, and I genuinely respect PS & Co.'s commitment to using high-quality ingredients. My concern wasn't about the price alone, it was about the value and quality of this particular dessert compared to what I've had from them in the past. More broadly, I hope this isn't part of a larger shift away from some of their trademark desserts. I was also disappointed when the chocolate chip muffin was discontinued, as it was one of my favorites. I still think PS & Co. offers some of the best gluten-free and vegan desserts in the city, which is why I'm sharing this feedback. I hope they continue making the desserts that so many people have come to enjoy.

The service and sweet treats are absolutely incredible. We were greeted by the owner who took her time to walk her through the ingredients, cross contamination possibilities and the menu as a whole. She was patient, informative and seemed genuinely excited to help serve us. It was fairly busy inside with a large dining area and small pantry section. While we didn't sit down for a full meal, the treats we took to go were fabulous. My friend raved that everything was made perfectly and tasted delicious. I tried a bit of everything and you'd have no idea that the items were gluten, sugar and dairy free! The berry muffin was better than "normal" muffins I've had. Everything was so good that after we finished our treats, we went back in for seconds! If you have similar dietary restrictions (or don't) this is a great place to stop with a lovely staff! We will certainly be stopping by again to try the full menu.

The selection of snacks at the register is very carefully curated. Mostly all-natural/clean on-the-go foods, with a few recognizable brands found at Whole Foods. I love that they partnered with Cymbiotika, too. The wellness aspect of the store truly impressed me. I also want to note how clean it was inside. I got a quick "hello" from the employee at the front, but he appeared to be packing an online order, and was the only associate in the store. I perused the menu until he was ready to assist. I ordered the açaí power bowl. Everything was cold and fresh - the granola added a nice amount of crunch and the banana mixed in the açaí was my favorite part. I added a pinch of cinnamon when I got back to my desk. Great spot to pick up healthy snacks and juices for those busier days! I definitely want to stop in again for a few of the superfood-infused shots.

Shop is on the smaller side, but definitely clean and appealing. Love having Vietnamese music videos on the screen that are chiller and a nice change of pace from other places that are showing sensory overloading K-Pop or anime. We asked for an extra cup to share too, and were able to get that, along with our desserts within minutes of ordering. Not too busy on a Sunday evening, so this place was also a great place to chat. I ordered the #4 Chè Sương Sa Hạt Lựu, which comes with red tapioca (my favorite!), mung bean, jello, grass jelly, pandan jelly, and coconut milk. The mix of flavors and textures was spot on with chewy, crunchy, smooth, and refreshing elements all in one cup. At first I thought there was a lot of ice but once everything was stirred in, the balance was just right and it kept the dessert cool without diluting the taste. Service was quick and efficient. My order was ready in no time and the staff handled a steady stream of customers with ease. The space itself is small with a few tables and chairs, and it definitely filled up over the hour I was there on a random Monday afternoon. The atmosphere had a casual vibe that made it easy to relax and enjoy my chè without feeling rushed. Overall this was a wonderful first stop to review in my new home and I am already looking forward to coming back!
